Debut full-length album by Canadian Epic Doom Metal band.
The bunch of the Canadians of Dark Covenant, of French origin, attempted to create, along with emotions, the same sensation of classic Doom Metal as it was portrayed in the 80s. With their debut album, "Eulogies For The Fallen", via their French label of Emanes Metal Records, another Doom Metal monster brought the classic stuff back to life.
The 70s version of Black Sabbath mixed with the early to mid 80s of Candlemass is quite something for this band. Besides being gloomy and dreary as most of the Doom Metal material of the 80s, Dark Covenant shared a bit more than the average Doom band. Vjohrrnt Wodansson is without doubt a very good singer with a strong voice that's perfect for this kind of Doom Metal. He has the passionate voice of the Marcolin. What we get here is a very decent portion of Epic Doom Metal. It does a good job; "Eulogies For The Fallen" are pretty solid. The album's production is quite raw, but not Ildjarn or Wormphlegm raw. All instruments are clear and audible, but the sound is far from polished. A song that best summarizes the album is "A Broken Sword Reforged" - it has everything a doom fan could hope for. Great, heavy riffs, ponderous rhythms, interesting mood changes and very melodic vocal lines. Nothing surprising, nothing new, but still quite fun to listen to.
There has been no shortage of new Doom bands the last few years, many of them traditional in focus, but not many full blown epic, and rarely indeed, Epic Doom of this quality, the kind that has a truly rousing and awe inspiring sound. It’s only a matter of time before they reach the Doom Gods status!
Highly recommended for fans of Solitude Aeturnus, Forsaken and Candlemass!!

The debut full-length studio album by cult German Melodic Black Metal band.
The Germans know about battle. They know what it sounds like. They know how to make it into music!
This record is incredible. A fusion of victorious Thrash and powerful, hateful Black Metal. The riffs are melodic in a glorious, triumphant way. The vocals are some of the best that you heard in a long time. They constitute vicious screams, screeches, and even growls. The bass can be heard if the listener focuses, and actually contribute to the melodic elements. The drums really do a good job of creating a battle sort of feel to the songs. There are blast beats only when they're needed. All the songs are fast and very aggressive, except for the last track, which is a beautiful, sorrowful acoustic ballad. 
Of the later Dark Fortress records, none can compare to this one in epic scale. After this record, half the band left. Maybe, they also knew that this was not to be topped...
If you love melodic, warlike Black Metal, you must own this album!!

Debut EP by Canadian Heavy/Thrash Metal band.
Formed in August 2015 by ex- Exciter drummer Rik Charron, whose resume includes almost 20 years with legendary Canadian band, with five of their albums under his belt, this is the debut release of a new-born band Dark Ministry. In total, this heavy, extreme Thrash Metal band consists of dueling guitarists Max Neckshredder and David Tyo, the sonic assault of bassist Carlo Cote, extreme aggression vocalist Tyler Knapp, and aggressive, pounding attack of drummer Rik Charron.
The band traverses around a number of sub-genres, keeping things solid in a Traditional Heavy Metal format while occasionally veering into the Speed/Thrash or Groove Metal platforms. Riffs are sharp and aggressive. The voice of Tyler Knapp has one of those barking deliveries with aggression and old-school Hardcore singing (think Agnostic Front and D.R.I.).
The opener, “Killing Machine”, has a vicious, venomous attack, a charging guitar line with the vocals snarling against the arrangement in a classic back and forth Groove/Thrash arrangement that again hearkens back to the 1980’s with a lot of Anvil/ Exciter textures. Rik flexes more of his double bass proficiency and old Exciter speed on the follow up “Voodoo Sacrifice”, the main riff and changes, in line with Metallica meets Pantera. The exotic twin guitar lines make “Blood Driven” an easy highlight, the rhythm section works in line with straightforward Judas Priest power while the lead break has a lot of crazy bends and squeals to heighten the energy factor.
EP has already been heard on internet and FM stations in nine different countries around the world and sixteen in the United States. This EP is sure to please even the most heaviest and hardened Metal appetites. Mike Usifer, founder of Prime Evil, had a few words to say about Dark Ministry's music: "These songs kill! Awesome Extreme Thrash, heavy, I love it!". Maxxxwell Carlisle, guitarist for Hellion says: "These guys are going to make some serious waves in the Metal scene. The whole band is dripping with intensity and that perfect in-your-face Metal attitude!".

The tenth full-length studio album by cult Spanish Symphonic/Progressive Power Metal/Rock band.
One thing about Dark Moor is the band’s ability to evolve musically without losing their signature sound. With "Project X", they have taken one step further in their permanent search for musical perfection, with Progressive Metal, Hard Rock, Classic Heavy Metal and many other styles displayed throughout the songs, as well as Dark Moor’s signature orchestral arrangements.
On this album, the band is extremely melodic and using a more conventional technique into Power Metal. It's like those bands from the second half of the 90s, as Vision Divine, Blind Guardian or Drakkar, where technique was not the principal feature of the band, but the songs as a whole. So they know what they want to do or how to play, using an even Hard Rock and Rock n' Roll elements on their music. And it sounds so good!
"Project X" was produced by Luigi Stefanini (Rhapsody Of Fire, Labyrinth, Vision Divine) and Enrik Garcia. The beautiful cover artwork was handled by Gyula Havancsák (Stratovarius, Grave Digger, Destruction, Annihilator). And they knew what they were doing, because the quality is almost perfect, bringing the album the perfect proportions of weight and clearness, so we can understand clearly what the band is playing, and we can have the best of their musical work.
These guys deserve to be more recognized into the music world!

The first re-release of the second full-length studio album by russian Gothic Metal band.
Thanks to the success of their debut album, "Without You", the name of Olga Romanova was widely known among fans of the russian Gothic Rock and Metal. And, unlike most such bands, music of Dark Princess stands out for its clearly marked and well-played tunes guitars.
The female vocals are quite lower and more dramatic than what is usually heard in cliché Gothic Metal, and quite good. While she's not extraordinary, she can sing. And the music is quite guitar-oriented. The album starts off with a heavy riff, and every song has a solo. Although there are two ballads, the album generally has a good Rocking sound.
If you're ready for some radio-friendly and easy on the ear, entertaining but not too complicated - check it out!

The South American release of the fifth full-length album by French Neoclassical Darkwave/Gothic band.
Dark Sanctuary is a French outfit that originally started as a one man band on a 1996 demo cassette. The music played by Dark Sanctuary is a very lovely, lush and melancholy style of Darkwave. The band offers floating soprano vocals, courtesy of Marquise Ermia, synthesizers, violin, acoustic guitar and piano to create their music. Their songs are brooding, contemplative, but always beautiful in execution. There is a sense of being in a cathedral while in mourning, due to the mood this album creates.
Dark Sanctuary describes themselves as a band who create "Dark Atmospheric" music. While this may not be as outstanding as, for instance, Elend's recent efforts, it is nonetheless worth considering outside that frame of reference, for its purpose appears to be different. A much more linear, tranquil and melodic album, part one of "Exaudi Vocem Mean" is an acoustic record, with some percussion, a lot of guitar, violin and piano, and plenty of angelic female singing. (The third track, "Dein Kalter Stein", features Schwadorf of Empyrium, Sun Of The Sleepless and The Vision Bleak fame on vocals, but that is almost the only male vocal performance on the album).
A silky smooth album, delicate to the point of fragility at times, "Exaudi Vocem Meam - Part I" can just as easily profit from that unstable balance as it can occasionally become long-winded and falter somewhat. It requires a certain disposition in order to be fully enjoyed and while in those circumstances it can work really well; it can otherwise lose the listener much more easily. If tragic, darkly romantic atmospheric music, artists such as Elend or Autumn Tears (or to a lesser extent My Dying Bride's non-Metal tracks) pique your interest, then this record should be a very worthwhile addition to your collection!
The Neo-Classical music is very well realized and performed by this band. The CD is very lengthy, but is a wonderful listen for when one is in the proper mindset for it. Fans of Die Verbannten Kinder Eva's, Black Tape For A Blue Girl or those who wish to hear a friendlier version of Elend should most definitely check out Dark Sanctuary.

The third re-release of the third full-length studio album by legendary Swedish Melodic Death Metal band.
Timeless classic by the Gothenburg Melodic Death Metal pioneers!
"The Mind’s I" represents an unusual period of Dark Tranquillity. After the release of the masterpiece "The Gallery", the band began to head away from the epic Classical-influenced Melodeath sound of that album towards more Progressive and Gothic tendencies. The "Enter Suicidal Angels" EP features some experimentations with Electronic programming (transition from "Zodijackyl Light" into "Razorfever") and even a straight out Techno song ("Archetype"). A very strange release indeed, after "The Gallery", "The Mind’s I" finds the band not taking such an Extreme approach as the EP did, but it can be seen that the Epic melodies are being dumbed down a bit in favour of a darker, more Progressive sound. Make no mistake, this is the bridge between "The Gallery" and "Projector".

1995 was the year that began the path of Metal for Darkfall, but this is the first full-length release they have released in that time. The wait was well worth it being that all the elements of style are throughout the songs. 11 tracks totaling 52 minutes of hardened Thrash Metal mixed with a Groove of influence from Death and Black Metal from the old school days. This is not an old school record though. The production is a buzzsaw and the offering itself keeps things evil, fast, powerful, and interesting.
"Misery of Peace", "Fading Away" and "Peacemaker" all throw down on fast and blasting starts that just keep crushing you from start to finish! All 11 tracks deliver something interesting and fresh in their own way and Darkfall will not disappoint when you check them out. 11 heavy, brutal and without compromises songs, mastered by Andy Classen. Songs like "War Has Come", "The Gods Await" and "Never Ending Hate" are clearly made for fist banging, crowd shout outs, and neck snapping headbanging. It’s definitely music for muthas! For fans of all types and hopefully Darkfall won't wait so long before they come out with another release in the future.  52 minutes of good Thrash laden Metal people!!

Remastered re-release of the second full-length album by the cult German Gothic Doom Metal band.
Bavarian quintet Darkseed have successfully married modern Death Metal with elements of Progressive Rock, 80's radio Metal, 70's riffery and Gothic overtones. It's a winning combination that makes for one of the most satisfying Metal albums in recent memory.
One of the first things you notice about Darkseed is their unique combination of vocal styles: clean, high-pitched male vocals give way to growling and thunderous bombast, followed in turn by a counterpoint female interlude. This arrangement is laid on top of some very complicated, very mature songwriting, which moves from acoustic guitar to keyboard to Metal guitar with fluid ease, and then back again. The lyrics are dreamy and ethereal, and are written with the flair of high poetry.
While Darkseed is certainly not the first band to add Gothic keyboards and female vocals to Heavy Metal, they may be the first to do it so well in the short-song format. These are three to four minute tunes, each of which carries the majesty of a church organ taken over by a madman and his guitar-wielding friends. Especially notable are "Self Pity Sick," a brilliant choice for the "Death...Is Just The Beginning" compilation, and "Senca", a strange song with a bizarre climactic vocal interplay. "Be Ever Heard," aside from an opening that makes you fear that someone has slipped a Ted Nugent disc in your player, features some vocals that you would swear belong to Geddy Lee.
It's a terribly diverse album, with a varied sound that makes it interesting to listen to countless times over!!

Darkside are active since 1991 and this is only debut full-length album (!!), in addition to various promos and demos. Band has already opened for Sepultura, Helloween, Saxon, Gamma Ray and more. Is a fact that the arts in Brazilian Thrash are very well mastered already three decades ago and Darkside confirms this once again through eight powerful tracks of old-school Thrash Metal. What you hear is best described as a combination of American and German Thrash Metal, with a nod to traditional Heavy Metal. Think of a combination of SLAYER, EXODUS, TESTAMENT, OVERKILL, DESTRUCTION and similar bands and you'll know roughly what to expect. The songs are well written and contains the necessary variation, and the music sounds very technical here and there. The riffs constantly invite to grab your air guitar and headbanging, and even if there is enough room for melody, they keep the good pace.
Really excellent “buy or die” release for all fans of Thrash, Speed, Power and Heavy Metal!!!

First European re-release on CD of the seventh full-length album by the cult Norwegian Black Metal band.
Darkthrone began in the late 80's as a Thrash/Death Metal act and progressed through Technical Death/Doom Metal experimentation to become legends of the Black Metal world and one of the original leading bands of the Norwegian scene.
"Goatlord" is the title of what was to originally be Darkthrone’s second album. It was a rehearsal tape recorded instrumentally, between "Soulside Journey" and "A Blaze In The Northern Sky", containing songs which were scrapped after the band changed direction from being Death Metal to Black Metal. The vocals were added in 1994. Although Fenriz claims the album was released in 1997 (in the liner-notes on the LP version released in 2002), it was actually most likely released late in 1996.
The style followed very much in the vein of the debut, "Soulside Journey", with a mid-paced melodic Death Metal style. After the recording of the tracks in 1991, however, Darkthrone’s focus shifted towards Black Metal and the album was shelved, while work commenced on what was to be the Norwegian Black Metal milestone, "A Blaze In The Northern Sky", which did actually incorporate some parts from the "Goatlord" tracks.
This 2CD re-edition includes the bonus track "A Blaze in the Northern Sky" in its original form (1991 version) and a bonus commentary disc with Fenriz and Nocturno Culto reflecting on the tracks and their inspirations at the time of writing the material. Also features new cover artwork, as selected by the band, which they feel better represents the band’s vision!

The third full-length studio album by French Alternative Psychedelic/Blues/Stoner Rock band.
Dätcha Mandala return with their third album that has a fresh Garage Rock sound compared to their previous releases. The album is highly energetic with its infectious Stoner Rock sounds and melodic Blues Rock energy which captures a Classic Rock sound with a soulful rebellious attitude. With this new LP, the trio's influences are now fully assimilated, compositions assert themselves, absorbing a certain modernity, and at times, they also toughen, aligning with the current times. Taking cues from bands such as Qotsa and Clutch, but Dätcha Mandala perhaps add a Commercial Rock aspect to their overall sound which is still quite satisfying with the constant Hard Rock attitude spliced throughout the entire album. The vocals are clean and quite “pop” in places, but the instrumental grooves the band lay down on the album gives Dätcha Mandala a more aggressive personality.
The other good aspect of the album is that Dätcha Mandala lean quite heavily into more areas of Heavy Metal and Hard Rock, with echoes of Motörhead and Black Sabbath making a more dominant appearance to give the band more credibility with the heavier Underground scene. There’s a deep sense of Dätcha Mandala love and respect for the British and American Hard Rock scene within the record, which sees the band switch to multiple different styles of music for the majority of the songs.
The lyrics darken, influenced by the zeitgeist, although a hopeful vision persists. Making bold choices in terms of sound and artistic production, Dätcha Mandala delivers a profound, robust, mature, powerful album with an unmatched consistency so far.
Dätcha Mandala have released their standout album to date and one that will gain them a whole legion of new followers. With first-rate production values, "Koda" is knockout entertainment from start to finish. Excellent and Highly Recommended!
