Japanese edition of the second full-length album by the Norwegian Melodic Hard Rock band.
Do you remember back in the day when band Europe ruled the airwaves? If so, you might also remember other scandinavian acts like Dalton, Treat, Skagarack and Fate? Predominantly hailing from Sweden and Denmark, these ultra melodic bands with their giga hair-do’s became pretty popular with their listener-friendly approach to and interpretation of traditional AOR-formulas. But amongst all these Swedish/Danish bands, there was a hidden force waiting to be unleashed…. That force was also known as Da Vinci! 
Hailing from Norway they fit into the geographical area of Scandinavian music and their sound was, arguably, the very essence of the subgenre. Their first album, titled "Da Vinci", was a so and so affair, showcasing a rather brilliant potential which was, sadly, overshadowed by Europe and Treat in particular. Bands that had taken charge of creating hit songs of the Scandi AOR sound. Da Vinci disappeared in the vast amounts of cliché bands even before they had a chance to show what they were capable of. Their great capacities were not put to life before the band released this, their second release called ”Back in Business”. Unfortunately too late to capture the high chart positions… They could really have paved the way for a lot of acts, had they only been around a couple a years before with this album. In other words, this album is a classic of the genre! 
Superb production, driving guitars, keyboards grandiosos and those naive, but very catchy melody lines. 
It should be a mandatory part of your collection!!

Second full-length album by American Industrial/Melodic Death/Groove Metal band.
Daath's ambitious sophomore album, “The Hinderers”, already challenges a few musical conventions by meshing ample Symphonic and Electronic elements into an otherwise archetypal Death Metal sound - but that's not even as surprising as their extensive lyrical immersion in Kabbalistic mysticism.
“The Hinderers” is incredibly enjoyable album with great riffs and great melodies. It is a very big step ahead of their much simpler independent debut “Futility”. The drums sound punishing, the guitars are clear and crisp, and the keyboards complement the sound well without overwhelming the mix. The keys add an important role to the music. They demonstrate the melodies and harmonies of the former combined with the technicality and brutality of the latter and some fairly run-of-the-mill vocals. The production, handled by the very proficient James Murphy, is excellent, as one would expect. Metal elitists will turn up their noses due to the more mainstream sound, but those with an open mind can find plenty to love here.
From start to finish this is a well-written album and excellent major label debut for these guys from Atlanta!

Back in the years of 1997, 1998 E.V., Langsuyar (Fernando Ribeiro's alter ego), invoked his most occult ghosts and hermetic studies, to perform a last ritual. The result was an amazing conjuration of pure demonic force and bestial elegance that became "Hermeticum", the one-off album by Dæmonarch. All songs (except for "Call From The Grave", which is a cover version of a Bathory song) are based on poems that Fernando Ribeiro composed at the age of 14-16. The only then-active Moonspell member that didn't participate on this record was drummer Miguel Gaspar and instead of hiring a session musician, the project simply used a drum computer, which isn't uncommon for Black Metal bands. After the release of "Hermeticum", the side project was disbanded.
"Hermeticum" has been out of print and sold out for too long now, and this reissue brings back all the dark ritualistic vibes that once possessed the life and the work of Langsuyar. Dæmonarch's first and only strike is an absolute must-have record, even if you have to pay a more elevated price for this unfairly forgotten rarity that even most Moonspell fans don't seem to know. This record really deserves to see its name being spread and getting some more attention after all these years. This album is different enough from other Moonspell albums to deserve its own banner, but if you like the usual Gothic Metal style of this band, you will also appreciate this little masterpiece. Let's hope that Moonspell's members bring this project back to life one day!
Re-edition includes upgraded artwork and features 12-page booklet with the long-lost lyrics to all the songs, recovered from the very pits of hell by the author himself.

Russian edition of the second full-length album by Israeli Symphonic Black Metal band.
Dagor Dagorath play an exotic blend of Israeli instruments along with the more traditional Symphonic laden Black Metal music. "Dissident" is a very well-played and orchestrated album, with tons of obscure atmospheres. There are many dark and eerie arrangements skillfully incorporated in all nine of their songs here. Dagor Dagorath remind of Dimmu Borgir, with awesome hints of Aborym and Emperor, with even some synth club-like elements found on the eclectic “Dazzled By Light And Darkness”. Don’t worry, this is not a dancy song, just features some really neat keyboard lines towards the end of the song.
Considering this band is a three piece, they sound like a six piece band with tons of talent and creativity. These guys are very focused on the uniqueness of their songwriting and musical abilities, and it definitely comes across clearly on “Dissident”.
Dagor Dagorath should be judged on the strengths of their creative vision and an epic direction their songwriting takes on this CD. Seeing that they’ve now been together as a band since 2003, 12 years to be exact, is a positive sign in the band’s future merits. Check it out and let the ancient and dark feelings of Israel and the Middle East engulf your spirit!!

Blacksters from Kherson celebrated the tenth anniversary with the release of a mature record, clearly showing their creative views and proactive stance. "Militant" Black Metal here takes an equal share with the "mysterious" Dark Metal - the balance was very correct, and the band sounds quite independently, without causing the first minutes of direct association with more established world famous bands.
In "Dark Poetry" musicians gave it seriously, pushing aside youthful maximalism, which could vaguely be seen on the last two releases. Debut full-length album by Malaysian Brutal Death Metal/Grindcore band.
Damokis are neither a Carcass - worship and -copycat, nor another Porngrind band. This four-piece is also heavily influenced by those old European Stenchcore bands from the late 1980s, like, for example, Intense Degree and Filthy Christians. They must be one of the oldest bands there, since they are around since 1995 and released several splits, an EP and at least one demo. After 12 years of hiatus, releasing several splits and singles, Damokis makes a triumphant return with a debut full-length!
"Grinding Mother Whore" quite a pleasure to listen to, just like the frequent use of movie- and even comedy-samples. These samples also prove Damokis to be not too serious in their intentions. Sounds like refreshing stuff? It is, even though it sometimes sound pretty outdated.
What you are holding and likely listening to now is the distinct vibes riffs yet catchy tracks from this fat Grinders. Hailing from Malaysia, this 30 minutes of old school Grindcore are mixes with the likes of Insect Warfare and Groinchurn!
Come on, give old fashioned stench and Grindcore a chance!! A Must for all Grindcore Lovers!!!

The third page in the history of russian-Ukrainian experimental duet Dan Deagh Wealcan it's abig journey in search of total stylistic madness. More eclectic and more distinctive album is also a conceptual work about the subjective specifics of fragmented consciousness. It’s an attempt of analyzing the various processes that occur in our mind and their influence on our view of reality. It’s a way to gather the pieces of thoughts into one and try to accept yourself for who you really are.
Sixteen musical "fragments" were recorded throughout the year 2015 and together are the inevitable creative evolution of the duet, maintaining the distinctive style of the previous two albums and bringing new overtones along as well.

Founded in 1995 in Rio de Janeiro as Dirty Woman, the band had recorded their work in two demos, “Strike A Blow!” (1996) and “Red Moon” (1998). Danger Angel were formed in Athens during the summer of 2006. The fourth full-length album by the Italian Progressive Metal/Shred guitarist-virtuoso.
The fourth solo opus by the producer, poly-instrumentalist and songwriter of the Genius saga, a reputed All-star series of choral Progressive Rock operas, three episodes were published between 2001 & 2007 by Frontiers Records with huge success.
Liverani holds a legendary status in Italy, as he had contributed as a producer, a guitarist or a keyboardist to some of the more interesting bands coming from this country since the early 90’s, and his recording credits are displayed in a long list of albums recorded by Khymera, Twinspirit, Empty Tremors, Viewpoint, Cosmics, etc...
“Fantasia” is an eclectic and mature instrumental concept guitar album, is a complex but intriguing work, with very catchy melodies. The multi-talented Daniele Liverani is obviously a very talented composer and also a damn fine technical guitar player, with some impressive skills and many blistering chops. He also possess a fat & tasty guitar tone with a subtle distortion instead of the high gain ultra-compressed buzzing sound of some of the modern players. The references are numerous, and of course Steve Vaï, Vinnie Moore and Steve Morse are coming in mind while listening to this jewel, but i will also add to the picture the underrated Neil Zaza, the musicianship of the talented line-up is stellar and the clever arrangements are mind blowing as you might expect, the production is top notch. Less demonstrative and warmer than his predecessor “Eleven Mysteries”, that was issued in 2012 by Lion Music, some cuts also contains some material with a fierce headbanging capacity, “Fantasia” holds a real interesting potential even for the non-musicians, very creative and non-elitist!

Dantalion return once again. The cover artwork is quite awesome, holding a sense of imperial funeral or something, creating a very positive first impression to the eyes of the listener that has yet to cherish everything the band has to offer in terms of sound. And indeed, the first eye contact with the audience cannot lie, it utterly depicts the more oppressive side Dantalion have chosen on their latest attempt, a bleak aura is omnipresent through the aesthetics of desolate Black Metal, bearing something from bands like Forgotten Tomb, Burzum, Shining etc.
Everything you ask for is all around, an extreme edge of melancholy that tends to flow like tiny razors deep within your veins, harassing slowly but steadily the organic machinery that lets life blossom. The title holds massive amounts of truth concerning the sound of the band and so it is, a flowing river of massive energy expanding its territory as "All Roads Lead To Death" unleashes torrents of negativity as it washes up the deceased that couldn't survive its menace.
Tormented howls and outraging lamented screams entrance the atmosphere while the rhythm section presents everything it has to say in the most appropriate way and the guitars overwhelm the senses with their railway riffing, the groovier moments, the distorted melodies and inspired solos like the one on "Claws Of Pestilence". The main idea is uprising tempos of demented sorrow that is not afraid to present a more mid-tempo vibe or even slow down for a while, along with a production that compliments the work Dantalion so painfully managed to compose within 56 minutes of tormented malevolence and disharmonic eloquence.
"All Roads Lead To Death" is an opus to internal disharmony, its black & white aesthetic slowly turns to lifeless grey and apathy that offer their place wholeheartedly to scarlet embossed ornaments of dissonance.

The fourth full-length studio album by legendary American Heavy/Gothic/Industrial/Dark Metal band.
Band's final album on American Recordings, and the last to feature the original lineup of John Christ (guitar), Eerie Von (bass), and Chuck Biscuits (drums). "Danzig 4" followed 1993's highly successful "Thrall: Demonsweatlive" EP and singer Glenn Danzig's 1992 instrumental solo effort, Black Aria.
The album cover features artwork by Glenn Danzig. Glenn Danzig has referred to the symbols on the album cover as "Vehmic runes" that spell out "Danzig". They were taken from the alphabet of a secret tribunal group from Medieval Germany called the Vehmgericht. In various 1994-95 interviews, Danzig explained that he did not wish to give the album a title, as he felt that a logo or printing would ruin the artwork, which he wished to stand on its own. After pressure from representatives from American Recordings, who did not want to release an unlabeled album for fear that sales would plummet, Danzig relented and allowed a sticker reading "Danzig 4" to be placed on the album's cellophane wrapper in both the vinyl and CD formats. To the right of the "4" is a tiny uppercase letter "P", in reference to the Four P movement. The following information was supplied by American Recordings in 1994: "The Four P movement is an alleged Satanic cult operating throughout the United States. An offshoot of the notorious Process Church of the Final Judgment, the Four P movement takes its name from the Process' original sigil: a swastika-like form composed of four interlocking Ps. The Four P movement was supposedly begun in 1967, and has been connected to a number of ritual killings across the country, including the Son of Sam killings in New York and the Manson Family murders in California." In interviews, the band members themselves usually refer to the album simply as Danzig 4, which is printed on the CD itself, the inlay spine, and the labels on the vinyl LP. In the liner notes to the 2007 compilation "The Lost Tracks of Danzig", however, Glenn Danzig refers several times to "Danzig 4P".
The album is more experimental than its predecessors, and Glenn Danzig described it as "A very challenging record, philosophically, vocally and musically". Danzig's experiments with using texture and atmosphere to evoke their trademark mood of Darkness and Evil, come to the forefront on this album, with John Christ contributing more effects and fuller chord voicing. The band has also started to craft their songs, using different instruments and a few Industrial sounds in the background of some tracks. Out of all their releases, the music here comes the closest to reflecting the darkness of Glenn Danzig's lyrics.
Music videos were released for the songs "Until You Call on the Dark", "I Don't Mind the Pain", "Cantspeak" and "Sadistikal". "Until You Call on the Dark" video was initially rejected by MTV's Standards and Practices department due to its lyrical content.
Shortly after the album had been recorded, Biscuits left the band, returned, and was finally fired. Just prior to the album's release, he was replaced by Joey Castillo. Eerie Von and Christ also intended to leave the band, but decided to stay for the remainder of the tour supporting the album and left the band on July 5 the following year.
Maintaining a mysterious, dark and primal attitude seems to come easy to Danzig, as the band proves itself once again on "Danzig 4". "Danzig 4" is definitely not for the meek!

The third full-length studio album by legendary American Heavy/Blues/Gothic/Doom Metal band.
The highest to chart album at the time of its release in 1992 on Def American Recordings. It's marks a departure from the previous Danzig albums and featured more of a Doom and Gothic Metal sound.
Featuring disturbing cover art from H.R. Giger, the album continues to expand the band's musical range; rather than pounding away at simple Blues riffs, the Atmospheric title track and the haunting ballad "Sistinas" attempt to match their music with the darkness of Glenn Danzig's lyrics, resulting in two of the album's high points.
Danzig's vocals are more subtle in places, and John Christ's guitar work continues to improve.
Blues legend Willie Dixon had agreed to guest on the track "Heart of the Devil", but died before the recording session was scheduled.
Music videos were released for the songs "How the Gods Kill", "Dirty Black Summer", "Bodies" and "Sistinas". A live performance of the song "Left Hand Black" has also been released.
Retaining and perfecting all their Rock and Roll glory, while adding a thick layer of Atmosphere, Danzig reached their apex with their third album. Twenty years later, it hasn't shown its age in the slightest.

The third European re-release of the second full-length studio album by cult American Thrash Metal band.
Dark Angel's final album to feature original vocalist Don Doty, and the first to feature drummer Gene Hoglan, who joined the band a few months prior the release of their debut album, "We Have Arrived". While "Darkness Descends" continued the traditional Thrash Metal sound of "We Have Arrived", a portion of the album (particularly "Black Prophecies") contains elements that would be expanded upon on Dark Angel's next two albums, "Leave Scars" and "Time Does Not Heal", which saw the band produce a mixture of Thrash Metal with Progressive and Technical structures.
Released at the height of Thrash Metal's popularity, "Darkness Descends" has been cited as a major influence on the Death Metal, Doom Metal and Groove Metal scenes of the late 1980s and 1990s. It is considered an essential release in the Thrash Metal genre. In August 2014, Revolver placed "Darkness Descends" on its "14 Thrash Albums You Need to Own" list. Decibel Magazine placed it 9th on its "50 Greatest Thrash Metal Albums of All Time". Loudwire placed "Darkness Descends" at number 6 on its "Top Ten Thrash Albums NOT Released by the Big 4" list.
"Darkness Descends" is considered to be a classic in the Thrash Metal genre.

The second full-length album by Czech Symphonic/Gothic/Doom Metal band.
This third album "Bittersweet Devotion" is quite meritorious. When "My Dark World" appears to be the first encounter, it instantly reminds us of Paradise Lost and Lake Of Tears in the nineties. Gothic/Doom Metal is what reigns here; that is obvious, although one can find a sudden switch to pure Doom with grunts and My Dying Bride riffing as well. They nicely grace it with a delicious guitar solo; we surely enjoy that.
With Vaclav Votruba and Jakub Vondrka they have recruited two skilful guitarists that are doing a great job. Vocalist Radek Popel, also responsible for artwork, has a low-pitched dark Gothic voice, but he regularly switches to lower grunts or a scream-like, excited variant of his voice. Well done. This is properly illustrated in the Candlemass alike "Empty Sun" and the juicy "Fear Kills Me". We are regaled with smooth, catchy Gothic during "It's Time To Go" (with acoustic parts) and "Angels Never Die" that has a kind a Epic feel, turning into more dynamics. Doom-like Moonspell atmospheres reign in "Morning Shadows", while a fast and furious guitar solo happens to be the icing on the cake in the Prog-like starting ''Insanity Within A Dream". One can hear bitter sweet sadness finally in "Bittersweet", emphasizing the emotional side of the band.
With talent for strong melodies and proper roots in the nineties Gothic/Doom Metal, Dark Angels has created an album we enjoy listening to! Cherish this integrity!!
