The fourth full-length album by cult Canadian Power/Heavy Metal band.
Like oh so many Heavy Metal bands armed with a certain vision but no realistic commercial potential, 3 Inches of Blood's brush with the big time nearly killed them. After playing a vital but largely unacknowledged role in reinvigorating the art of traditional, non-ironic Heavy Metal and Thrash, replete with monster tales and battle lore, via their cult-approved independent 2002 debut, "Battlecry Under A Winter Sun", the Vancouver sextet was smartly snapped up by Roadrunner Records. There followed two creatively laudable but financially underperforming LPs, 2004's "Advance And Vanquish" and 2007's "Fire Up The Blades", at least in the eyes of the former Heavy Metal stronghold, since gone "corporate Rock crazy" due to the unprecedented success of Nickelback. In Roadrunner's defense, their efforts to "professionalize" 3 Inches Of Blood through grueling promotional campaigns and roadwork also exposed the inability of several bandmembers to "cut it", so after being dropped in 2008, it was an almost unrecognizable 3 Inches Of Blood that recorded this fourth long play, "Here Waits Thy Doom", for esteemed indie Metal label Century Media. Longtime fans will notice that the band's typically Thrash-infused war cries ("Battles and Brotherhood", "Call of the Hammer", "Execution Tank") and steroid-pumped modernizations of the Maiden/Priest dual-harmony gallop ("Silent Killer", "Fierce Defender", "All of Them Witches") are now making room for an increasing number of tunes steeped in a more traditional, Rock-based songwriting approach (e.g. "Rock in Hell", "Snake Fighter"). This trend had already been hinted at on 3IOB's previous album, but no one could have foreseen such a radical departure as the almost bluesy "Preacher's Daughter", which marries an unusually deliberate tempo to atypically "of this world" lyrics and eventually builds to an anthemic singalong chorus! Obviously, 3 Inches Of Blood are rolling with the changes and trying to evolve their sound, but the truth is that most all of their familiar sonic hallmarks are still delivered here with poise and power. And while there are several other quality bands competing in the same Extreme retro-Metal killing ground (Skeletonwitch, Black Cobra, etc.), 3 Inches Of Blood will always possess a certain advantage so long as Cam Pipes is the gladiator helming their chariot, with his as yet unchallenged Rob Halford-meets-Udo Dirkschneider vocals.
This is pure and unadulterated Metal for true Metalheads! Highly recommended for fans of: Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and Accept!!

Debut full-length album by French Stoner Metal band.
"All Channels Off" is the fairly straight-forward Rock-solid kind of debut album, with a not-so-subtle dirty (Stoner) undertone. One thrilling sequence follows right after the other... And before you know it, you'll find yourself driving a pickup truck down a dusty desert highway, giving this tasty album yet another spin.
Already from the first split seconds there's an unmistakable Queens Of The Stone Age, and - to a lesser extent - Kyuss, vibe going on, so you know what you're up for from the start, no surprises. Although...
There are some oddities though. For one, the song "Whisper (And Dig The Ground)" reminds a bit too much to Soundgarden long after their glory years. Anyway, the track feels a bit out of place.
As it turns out, these French "rawkers" make an old formula appear fresh - and they do so with flying colors. 7 Weeks isn't as exactly cutting-edge as far as this particular (niche) genre goes. And it's nothing overly inspiring either. But! Due to the high level of reasonable radio friendliness, the songs do entertain. Plus they keep sticking, y'know - a blessing not given to everyone. If anything else, 7 Weeks will be gettin' your groove on, and that's what matters!

Remastered re-release of the fourth full-length studio album by legendary Swedish Pop band.

Remastered re-release of the eighth and the final full-length studio album by legendary Swedish Pop band.
With "The Visitors", ABBA took several steps away from the "lighter" Pop music they had recorded previously and this album is often regarded as a more complex and mature effort.
ABBA's final album was recorded during a period of major personal shakeups, principally in the decision by Benny Andersson and Frida to follow the same route to divorce that had already been taken by Björn Ulvaeus and Agnetha Faltskog. Both male members of the group would soon remarry, but at the time, despite all of these changes in their circumstances, "The Visitors" was never intended as ABBA's swan song - they were to go on recording together. That may explain why, rather than a threadbare, thrown-together feel, "The Visitors" is a beautifully made, very sophisticated album, filled with serious but never downbeat songs, all beautifully sung and showing off some of the bold songwriting efforts.
The opening track, "The Visitors", with its ominous synthesizer sounds and the distinctive lead vocal by Frida, announced a change in musical style. With Benny and Frida going their separate ways, the pain of splitting up was explored yet again in "When All Is Said and Done". The major hit single on the album, "One of Us", also depicted the end of a love story. Elsewhere there were current Cold War themes (highly topical at the time) and further songs of isolation and regret. The title track is a topical song about Soviet dissidents that also manages to be very catchy, while "I Let the Music Speak" sounds like a Broadway number (and a very good one, at that) in search of a musical to be part of, and "When All Is Said and Done" is a serious, achingly beautiful ballad with a lot to say about their personal situations, even "Two for the Price of One," a lighthearted song sung by Björn Ulvaeus about answering a personal advertisement, offered several catchy hooks and beautiful backup singing. "Like an Angel Passing Through My Room" ended the original album on a hauntingly ethereal note, but not as any kind of larger statement about the quartet's fate. The intention was to keep working together, but Andersson and Ulvaeus' growing involvement with their stage project, Chess, prevented any further work together by the group beyond three songs, "The Day Before You Came", "Cassandra", and "Under Attack" - they're all present as bonus tracks on the 2001 remastered edition, along with the orphaned B-side "Should I Laugh or Cry" from the same sessions as "The Visitors", and only add to the appeal of the original album.
"The Visitors" was one of the first records ever to be recorded and mixed digitally, and was the first in history to be pressed on the new CD format in 1982 (though in terms of commercial release dates, it was predated by the Japanese release of Billy Joel's "52nd Street").
The first three tracks for the album had already been recorded using analogue tape and therefore Tretow had to transfer all subsequent tracks from digital to analogue and back again to avoid a difference in quality.
"The Visitors" has been reissued in digitally remastered form three times: first in 1997, then in 2001 and again in 2005 as part of "The Complete Studio Recordings" Box Set.
On its release, "The Visitors" reached the top of the charts in a number of territories but was not as successful as their previous albums.

Remastered re-release of the sixth full-length studio album by legendary Swedish Pop band.
Their sixth album coincided with the marital split between Agnetha Fältskog and Björn Ulvaeus and the massively shifting currents in Popular music, with Disco, which had been on the wane, suddenly undergoing a renaissance thanks to the 1977 movie S"aturday Night Fever". 
"Voulez-Vous" showed the band embrace Disco music, which was at its peak at the time. Thus, about half of "Voulez-Vous" shows the heavy influence of the Bee Gees from their megahit disco era. This is shown not just in the fact that the backing track for the title song was cut at Criteria Studios in Miami, where the Bee Gees had cut "Main Course", "Children of the World", and most of the rest of their Disco-era music, but through the Funky beat that ran through much of the material; yet the album still had a pair of soft, lyrical Euro-Pop-style ballads ("I Have a Dream" and "Chiquitita"), which proved as popular as any of the more dance-oriented songs, and were reminders of Fältskog's and Ulvaeus' roots, in particular, in popular Folk music during the mid- to late '60s. Those two songs, plus "Angeleyes", "Does Your Mother Know", and the title cut, were all Top Five Singles in England, although only "Chiquitita" and "Does Your Mother Know" were Top 40 hits in America, where the album's sales peaked at a modest 500,000 or so.
It was the first ABBA album to be mainly recorded at Polar Studios in Stockholm, and the only ABBA album to include a studio recording made outside Sweden: the instrumental backing track for the title track was partly recorded at Criteria Studios in Miami.
"Voulez-Vous" was first released on CD in 1984. The album has been digitally remastered and reissued four times: first in 1997, then in 2001 and in 2005, as part of "The Complete Studio Recordings" Box Set, and yet again in 2010 for the "Voulez-Vous Deluxe Edition".
The album peaked at No.1 in a number of countries and was one of the top five-selling albums in the UK for that year.

The second full-length album by Slovakian Avant-garde Black Metal band.
Abbey Ov Thelema is a side project of two members (Delgrast and Vilosof) of Nevaloth, an Atmospheric Black Metal band from Slovakia. They describe their sound as Transcendental Khaoblack Metal and their second full length is a good phrasing on what it does sound like. Chaotic, disarrayed, dark, and symphonic.
"Liber DCLXVI" is the dark mazed dissonance of a thousand grim bards playing over the screams of hell. Is an album not for the casual Black Metal listener or for any Black Metal listener at all. This album is for a listener who is into a chaotic Avant-garde, appreciates musical flexibility, or is into breaking boundaries with a juxtapose of Black Metal vocals, orchestra instruments, electronic keyboard tones, and blast beat drums. Some of the tracks, for example "De Ascensione Impeii Peccati", break into traditional Black Metal stylings but only for a few minutes. Other tracks are best described as musical chaos, with rapid time changes, genre mixing into Symphonic to Electronic arrangements, and vocals ranging from raspy Black Metal scream to an almost howling Death Metal grunts. The tracks average past the 8 minute mark and in those minutes you get a lot of music packed into your ears, even at some points getting a little dance drum and bass-line.
Again, this album is not for that average Black Metal listener. It has erratic changes and melodies. Abbey ov Thelema goes to places Black Metal might not really be thought to taken while still keeping the elements of Black Metal. It might just take some time for the listener to grasp the elements they are presenting. Recommend you listen to this album a couple of times, let the base elements of what Abbey Ov Thelema are, then decide if you are now into their Transcendental Khaoblack Metal!

Second full-length album by American Black Metal band.
The album moves away from the Symphonic Black Metal sound and keyboard usage featured on "In the Shadow Of A Thousand Suns" to a more Pure Black Metal sound.
After all, the New York-based band has suffered enough prejudice from genre extremists due to a momentary dalliance in Metalcore early on in its career, not to mention the relatively commercial style of synth-wrought Orchestral Black Metal heard on the band's first album. Many observers believed this style owed way too much to England's widely reviled (and contradictorily wildly successful) Cradle of Filth, whose perceived opportunism made them black metal's ultimate sellout poster boys, but it's simply not fair to condemn Abigail Williams to the very same death sentence so soon, especially in light of the band's much improved second album, 2010's "In The Absence Of Light", which reveals a perfectly competent and oftentimes quite engaging collision of vicious aggression and ambitious songwriting grandeur.
Yes, it's true that Abigail Williams are still deriving most of their ideas from other established Black Metal names, but at least they're now reaching for the higher standards established by the likes of Dimmu Borgir and Bal-Sagoth, instead of Dani Filth's merry crew. Heck, Abigail Williams even achieve convincing shades of Emperor on the hauntingly epic highlight "The Mysteries that Bind the Flesh." Certainly, there is still nothing groundbreaking to be found on "In The Absence Of Light", but when you consider that 99 percent of the musical universe is guilty of committing the same sin, Abigail Williams' premature burning at the stake by Black Metal's self-proclaimed purists is hereby conclusively ruled as rank and unfair discrimination!
