The 14 concert tracks are displayed with the index so the Pink Floyd fans can jump right to the final track of "Comfortably Numb". As Floyd cover bands are proliferating, it's kind of nice to hear an actual group that is its own entity do a cover along with their other material. And they do a nice Rock & Roll job on it, not to mention the fact that their music runs a sort of parallel to big Pink.
The concert footage is wonderfully filmed and the sound is delightfully eerie. The main concert was filmed and recorded at Metalmania Festival, Spodek, Katowice, Poland, March 4th 2006. There are additional tracks of: "Sleepless", "Dying Wish", the Peter Green/Fleetwood Mac classic "Albatross", and "Fragile Dreams" from a 2004 Krakow concert. The lighting, sound and dynamics are par excellence! A real find and something that should garner the band a larger fan base!

Is a pretty solid album throughout, and if you like black metal but aren't afraid of occasional clean vocals and some minor folk influence, or if you like pagan metal but aren't afraid of some fierce black metal, you may want to add this one to your collection!! Each song sounds like it belongs. This is very good stuff!!!

This band have been playing Thrash Metal for close to fifteen years now, and they are produces really good quality Thrash Metal, but not as you might expect. This isn't the incredibly heavy grind of Kreator, nor is it the more mainstream Thrash Metal that a lot of people will be familiar with.
The opening track, "N.I.F. (New Interstellar Force)" has a very atmospheric intro, and then becomes almost a Crossover Thrash tune. It's really catchy and a great way to kick off this record. The second track, "…Hyperspace", is everything you'd want from a Thrash Metal song; it's fast and aggressive, but has a lot of melodic elements thrown in as well. At some points, it has an air of Gama Bomb about it. "Sea of Stars" begins with a nice acoustic intro, before becoming a full-blown melodic Thrash Metal track. Like all of the songs on this album, the guitar work on this track is pretty cool. The album's title track is, like the last track, Melodic Thrash Metal, but with a bit more aggression thrown in there for good measure. "Colonizing Asteroids" opens on a very military, marching kind of drumming, bursting into life after about half a minute and turning into a song that sounds like what Megadeth would be like if they had gone more down a Prog route. The highlight of the end of the album is "Dead Zone", which is a powerful Thrash Metal anthem.
This band don't fit into the traditional pigeon-holes of Thrash Metal. They go for a more melodic sound, which a lot of other people will like!!

These Italians sure know their Bay Area Thrash! Ancient Dome has been working the scene since 2000, and released 3 demos prior to being signed by Punishment 18 Records. This recording experience is noticed in the overall sound of the band’s debut album.
The production is a little classic Thrash sounding. The bass is quiet and overall the mix feels very open, and overall very decent given the production of many other Thrash albums. Luckily Ancient Dome knows how to keep you interested, to listening to the album over and over. Looking forward to a couple particular tracks such as "Fall Of The Dominion" and the ultimate Testament homage, "Total Command".
For every hardcore Thrash fans who like classic Thrash Metal!!

With their second full-length album, "Perception Of This World", band have decided to take their other influences further than they did with their 2009 debut album "Human Key". Ancient Dome don't really fail this time either. At first, the album is about speedy and simple Thrash Metal songs. They sound a lot like Bay Area Thrashings, but the band start to sound more individual, too. "Confused Certainty" includes some later Death style Technical/Progressive guitar work. This time around the performances from the musicians are better. It's great to hear, that the drums are now competent and devoid of clumsiness. The shouty vocals all the way through, sometimes reminding of Schmier of Destruction and Death Angel's Mark Osegueda. The band's biggest advantage is their style to give all those familiar influences their own stamp and turn it to sound like Ancient Dome.
Excellent technical and melodic Thrash Metal for fans of Sodom, Forbidden, Testament, Megadeth, Heathen, Metallica, Coroner, Artillery and Death Angel!!

Beautiful looking Helena Iren Michaelsen fills our ears with beautiful vocal lines from the snowy country of Norway. She's been the singer for Norwegian Goth Metallers Trail Of Tears' first two albums but then departed and joined After Forever guitarist Mark Jansen, ex-Cassiopeia guitarist Ad Sluijter and keyboard player Coen Janssen, Gurthang and Axamenta bassist Yves Huts (a.k.a. 'Enuresor') and drummer Iwan Hendrikx of M-90's, Silent Edge and Exivious. They all formed the venturous act Sahara Dust which would later be renamed into Epica and gain immediate commercial success. Unfortunately (or fortunately) Helena left the band a year later and…In 2003 joined God Dethroned's pairing of guitarist Henri Sattler and drummer Ariën van Weesenbeek in a new force entitled Imperia.
In 2004 Imperia released their debut album while in the meantime Helena also covered Dead Can Dance's "The Lotus Eaters" for a tribute album released by the Greek Black Lotus Records. In October 2004 Helena would see to her solo ambitions in the form of Angel which signed her a deal with Black Lotus Records. Shortly after, the promotional single "Don't Wanna Run".
The music of Angel however takes a very personal look into the deepest emotions of this beautiful lady singer. She opens her heart completely on these twelve songs, and combines this emotional trip with bombastic sounds, which makes this CD a very passionate masterpiece. The music is a mix of Pop, Gothic, Wave and Rock.
So what secrets lie within Helena's diary, waiting to be discovered by your very own ears? Melodies of sorrow, melodies of nostalgia, of love and hate, of passion and anger. The entire album is one big trip through memory lane together with a little girl that fills in the pages of her diary with her thoughts, with her feelings as the years pass by and she grows up to be…a woman. That's the feeling you'll get after listening for instance to songs like "Little Princess" or "Little Girl". Soft and innocent, these songs are just like a little kid, emotion-wise...

This debut full-length release is 78% instrumental and certainly not a head-bang fest. Be prepared, dear listeners, for a brilliantly chilled-out collage of genres in every track. If you are a fan of Jazz, smooth Jazz/Fusion, Blues, or Progressive Metal, you won’t have any trouble finding something to like on this album, and sometimes most of them within the same track.
Playing Fusion is not for the faint of heart nor the weekend warrior musician. Multiple tempos within one track, syncopated rhythms, different musical scales and echoes of anything from Progressive Metal riffs to down-home Blues pulled out of the ethers requires Samurai-like dedication to one’s instrument and an enormous corpus callosum. Whew! It hurts my head to even contemplate dissecting the components of each track. Anchor of the trio, Stornello, is a well-known guitarist, teacher and president of the Modern Music Institute. He also has his own album release called “Jazz It My Way”. He could give George Benson a run for his money). Terenziani is also a renowned guitar instructor and bassist. Both he and Caridi are band mates in Killing Touch. Terneziani and Caridi play in various separate bands, as well. The best showcase of Terenziani’s Jazz solo virtuosity is in “Traffic Jam”. Caridi proved himself the heartbeat of the entire album.
What is so extraordinary about this album, overall, is that not once did any instrument drown out the other. It’s not been a common occurrence to hear each well-played instrument being absolutely distinguishable, giving the listening audience an opportunity to appreciate individual artistry.
This album is sure proof of how exposure to and the playing of more than one genre can broaden one’s inventiveness and technical prowess. It also shows musicians and listeners, alike, that there are some really neat toys to play within our large musicversal sandbox.
Power Fusion certainly has the credibility and song-writing skills to be more than just a one-time fun project for the members involved. However, even if they never continue on, Power Fusion will remain a power example of state-of-the-art Italian Progressive/Fusion. There’s no denying that this album should get a title of one of the best albums of the few last years!

Animal (later Randy Piper's Animal) is the band of W.A.S.P. former guitarist Randy Piper (also ex- Alice Cooper, etc).

It was somewhere around the late '80s that the idea for Animal first crawled to the surface, then for one reason or another, nothing ever became of it. And then Blackie Lawless and W.A.S.P. rolled right along, going from menacing to mellow to downright mean, with and without Holmes, and makeshift as ever from one to the next.
Of course, the band's name comes off the most controversial 80s Metal song issued. "Animal (F**k Like A Beast)" marked W.A.S.P.'s risky - and eventually successful - affair with fame and fortune. Now, the title steps in for this newly formed act driven by ex-W.A.S.P. guitarist Randy Piper, credited in the Shock' Rock masters first two colossal albums "W.A.S.P." (1984) and "The Last Command" (1985).
One consolation at least for Randy, his leaving came at the right time as W.A.S.P. went on to create the weakest album of their prime, and have never really rivaled the intensity of the two guitar attack, in spite of Lawless' taking over. Now here's the irony of it all. Not only does he emerge from relative obscurity that even went so far as to include a rumor of his death a few years ago, but no, not only does Piper come back, he's brought two old W.A.S.P. buddies with him for what is essentially the blood and guts core group of their early '80s heyday.
So instantaneously, through Animal, W.A.S.P. fans from the very beginning have what they've been waiting for, with the one notable exception of course. This record smashes and scatters the remains of today's tough guy acts. There's been a certain amount of murmur regarding the participation of fellow ex-W.A.S.P. warriors Chris Holmes and Tony Richards in the Animal ranks, but nothing do in the inner sleeve lineup notes of the promo CD. Really, did they ever record a single not for this one?
The title track roars forth in an immediate groundbreaking swell of rhythmic propulsion that right away signals the start of something big, loud, and chorally nasty. The singer is vintage late '80s Hair Metal and club Rock with a higher croon than someone like... well like Lawless, and a bit throatier like an ex-Mötley Crüe rodent Rocker named Corabi.
Some good riffing here and there, some interesting leads and - overall - the same-titled tune itself are the 'pros' of Animal's debut creation. "900 Lb. Steam" sees another target group needed for Randy Piper. This is clear. If you're not that bored after the music over, maybe it's this style you like from now on!

Annihilator's brand of technical, thinking man's Thrash Metal garnered many fans with this fine debut, arguably the best release of the band's career. A brief acoustic guitar piece called "Crystal Ann" introduces the excellent title track: a psychological murder thriller supposedly based on a disturbed young girl's true story.
Leader Jeff Waters takes himself a little too seriously at times (see the Edgar Allan Poe-influenced "Ligeia" and his ridiculously erudite commentary on each song's lyrics), but he is equally prone to refreshing flashes of humor on "Word Salad" and "Schizos Are Never Alone". The spectacularly named Randy Rampage proves himself to be a versatile vocalist on "Wicked Mystic" and "Burns Like a Buzzsaw Blade". The careening closer "Human Insecticide" is magnificent for its sheer speed.
The album is full of technical riffs and solos from guitarist and songwriter Jeff Waters that are sure to please any fan of Thrash Metal. "Alice In Hell" features very few dull moments, as each of the songs are very powerful in their own way, and would not look out of place on a record from any of the big four of Thrash. Somehow the band did not gain the same popularity as some of the other Thrash acts, especially in North America, which is unfortunate, as the band put out some very quality material. "Alice In Hell" ranks near the top of the band's discography, and is definitely an essential Thrash album!!

In the 1980s and early '90s, there was often a very fine line between Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. But with Annihilator, there was never a question - this was most definitely a Metal band to the core.
As the highest selling Canadian Metal band, it would be fair to say that they have achieved a large amount across their long and fruitful career, having put out two absolute pillars within Thrash Metal in their first two albums. The band are renowned for the high level of technical proficiency across each instrument as well as their complex and catchy riffs and jumps between fast and slower sections in the blink of an eye. It was this formula that made such songs as "Alison Hell" from their debut album "Alice In Hell" so good, which would continue onto the follow-up.
"Never, Neverland" being a step up from their fantastic debut. The title track, "Road To Ruin", and "'The Fun Palace" are regarded by many as being some of the best tracks the band has ever put out, featuring some memorable vocal lines and spectacular riffing. The bass playing on these tracks is flawless, whilst the drumming is the stuff of legend, with some really Groovy lines. The sheer cohesiveness of this entire release is almost untouchable, and what is even more amazing is that the band's vocal work not only fits in with the other instruments but actually adds to it. Coburn Pharr has a rather awesome slightly high pitched shout and sneer that he uses for many songs, occasionally leaping between even higher shrieks and some lower notes to make for the complete vocal performance. "The Fun Palace" kicks this album off in spectacular fashion with some of the best flowing guitar work in Thrash Metal history. Whilst people such as Kirk Hammett just shred as fast as they can and abuse the wah pedal, Jeff Waters scatters various techniques throughout and lays down some beautiful melodies in his solos. This can be found on various songs. "Sixes And Sevens" shows great effect with a chorus that you will roar along to and stamp your feet in the most defiant way possible upon hearing a few times...
Comparable to Metallica and Judas Priest at their heaviest, "Never, Neverland" is a blistering gem that takes no prisoners either musically or lyrically. In fact, Annihilator's lyrics could be quite substantial, and the headbangers offer hard-hitting commentary on subjects on subjects ranging from drunken driving ("Road to Ruin") to religious fanaticism ("I Am in Command") to environmental destruction ("Stonewall").
Much heavier than the many Pop-Metal units flooding the market in the late '80s and early '90s, "Never, Neverland" was one of 1990's strongest Metal releases. The true icing on the cake for "Never, Neverland" is its crystal clean but aggressive production job. The guitars have more bite than a pissed off Rottweiler, whilst the drums pound away incessantly without ever completely overbearing the mix. The bass is consistently audible, and the vocals are well placed right at the center of the production. This is one of the best jobs in Thrash Metal and really is the last nail in the coffin for almost every other Thrash album attempting to compete with this! If you are a Metal fan and you have not heard "Never, Neverland", kindly do yourself a favor and listen to this as it is a masterpiece of Thrash Metal that anyone can enjoy!!
