The album is quite melodic, almost like a really restrained (early) Eluveitie. The "folk" part in the "folk metal" here mostly only comes in through the use of folk instruments themselves, not necessarily what they're playing. Rhythmically this is all metal and not folksy at all, but it should be noted that there aren't really any raging blast beats as there have been on prior Folkearth albums, and that's a good thing since they always seemed out of place. This is a different album to what you've heard from Folkearth in the past and it’s great!

A heavy, dark and ethereal atmosphere is promised. The production is by Dan Swanö at Unisound Studio. The result is a powerful and lively combination, full of twists and something which is very darkly Progressive.
We’re led into “Hell” and it would seem there’s no way out. “Hell” is the title of the opening track. It’s interesting. Walls of sound and deathly roars are the staple diet of this album but equally melodic twists and layers of subtlety take us into those shadowy worlds. Maybe there are too many conflicting layers, as if the make-up has been plastered on too liberally. But extremity is at the core and “Way” hammers down hard. There’s a kind of Black Metal element to the discordance. But “Way” is above all marching, imperious and all round heavy. And strongly smell Hypocrisy in this. Orchestral strains arise out of it. “Hole” then makes the atmosphere darker and crunchier. It slows down but not in conventional fashion. The guitars and vocals sound warped, bringing a scary element into it. The guitar lines and drum work are always interesting. The next track is called “Sky”. A warped and orchestral piece, it sounds as if it’s coming from the inside of someone’s head. The mixture is strange. It’s woozy and nightmarish yet deadened. It just ends mid-nightmare.
The constant sound of “Colors” is like a mechanical process, rather like the functional track titles themselves. In spite of the ferocity, epic heights are reached. But before long, we’re on the receiving end of a thunderous battery. It’s as if sounds are bouncing off walls. There’s persistence in this Darkened Metal. Experimental techno finishes off this track and leads us into “Truth”. This is like a slow cooker. It’s all there. It’s monstrously dark. Progress is made however. There’s a definite edge. It’s not so gripping as adhesive and, once again, persistent. The problem here is that it’s from the same pitch. There’s such a wall of sound. “Truth” is Gothic in its way. There’s a plaintive voice but it’s all shrouded in Blackness. Psychedelic tones can then be heard like the start of a track by The Gathering. The pace quickens up, and twisting Metal comes out as something akin to Folk Metal with strange voices. Yes, it’s strange but “Silence” has energy. The harshness reminds of Prostitute Disfigurement, yet this couldn’t be further from the Fuzzy Psychedelia, and the stuttering and eccentric fashion it which it ends. The bells toll. It is “Funeral” time. But this didn’t remind of a funeral. It’s more an experiment in mood. There’s the intriguing suggestion of a Chinese instrument as the track builds up. A thunderous wall is created. The atmosphere is created. In the Death Metal, a mysterious but beautiful voice appears. It is that of Anneke van Giersbergen formerly of The Gathering and now associated with the Devin Townsend Project. Her tones are typically sultry. For a rare moment the mood is quiet. The album ends on a quiet and calm note which is out of keeping with the roaring lion which had preceded it.
Without doubt this album goes deeper than the surface, and ventures into Experimental and Progressive Metal which challenges the mind. It's inexplicably experimental so although interesting.

With a multitude of guest musicians playing a variety of instruments rarely heard in any genre of Metal, such as the djembe, and a low-pitch Peruvian wind instrument: the quenacho, the band successfully blend world music sounds with Fusion, Electronica, and frenzied Progressive Metal. The band draws so many influences that it is impossible to understand the music without hearing it.
The production, like the song content is first rate. Every instrument comes through loud and clear, and the album never loses its strong sense of power and grandeur, even during mellow parts. The band produced this album, and succeed in creating an intriguing sonic canvas, where nothing, not even heavy distorted guitars sound usual or expected.
Fragile Vastness has come from nowhere to produce one of the most interesting and diverse albums in a long time. These excellent musicians seamlessly blend a myriad of genres and instruments to create a style that is unique in every way in this excellent debut. This is not only an album for fans of Progressive Metal, but also a must have for any open-minded listener. Expect a Progressive Metal masterpiece from Fragile Vastness in the very near future!

The speed on this album is unreal, right from the get-go we start off with fast drums, chugging guitars and amazingly fast and clean keyboard playing. This all builds up tension and eventually the lead guitar comes in, with amazing fast playing. The album has an overall Progressive shred feeling to it with a fair amount of the songs clocking in at least over six minutes long and there is some neat odd time changes here and there adding to the craziness and chaos of the music. The guitar follows the keyboard melodies, really creates a nice contrast over the chugging backing rhythm, it provides quite an intense listen. In certain parts of the songs the tempo slows down and we get a nice middle 8 from the keyboards, only for a short period before going back into the intense shred guitars, it creates a great effect on the music. Francesco really proves he has great ability on the keyboard/piano as well as on the guitar. The guitar tone cuts through very well and has a lot of clarity to its sound. The bass from the great Kyle Honea is intense as well, some real virtuoso playing to be found. Drummer Lucrezio de Seta provides some great drumming on this record, mainly going for the fast and intense approach to his drumming here but handling all the different time changes very well. CD divided into two parts, one heavy ("Into the Dark Line" tracks 1-9) and one acoustic ("Out of the Dark Line" tracks 10-15). From tracks 10 the album takes a calmer approach, incorporating a big focus on piano/keyboard and also some nice acoustic guitar playing. The five tracks that follow, as said previously, are also a lot calmer compared to the earlier songs on the CD, and the album ends on a gentle note.
Overall, if you like instrumental guitar shred consisting of fast and relentless, intense playing, and a big Progressive vibe then this is definitely for you, a lot of the time the CD is like this, but also has some good variation in which it incorporates some calmer, shorter songs, particularly towards the end of the CD. The technique displayed on this CD is definitely to be noted, as it is fantastic from all the musicians on this CD!!

Francesco recorded the “Suspension” album at his home studio, Suspension Records, from October 2000 to January 2001. He played and recorded all the guitar parts (in which he used an Ibanez RG550), as well as keyboards, bass guitar and drum programming.
You can tell that the whole album is going to be pure bliss from here. No song is deficient of soul and emotion, as portrayed especially in “Pointbreak”, “Introspective”, and “Secrets”, in which Francesco employs a tapping technique on a clean sound throughout the whole song. There are, of course, your wild Shred masterpieces, like “Suspension”, “Cyborg”, and “Paradox”. Re-edition contains additional track "Relentless".

This out of print split-CD includes 4 tracks each of Freternia and Persuader: two studio tracks from their first albums and two rare demo tracks.
Freternia’s debut “Warchants & Fairytales” was released in July of 2000. Album shows a young up and coming band with excellent ideas and a great singer. Freternia utilizes a similair combination of heavy, fast melodies, powerful choral elements, and fantasy lyrics as Blind Guardian but with musical influences leaning more towards bands like Helloween and Gamma Ray.
Persuader’s first album “The Hunter” was released in July of 2000. Album shows a big potential of the band. Jens Karlsson and lead guitarist Emil Norberg would later team up with Blind Guardian drummer Thomen Stauch and Iron Savior guitarist/vocalist Piet Sielck to form Savage Circus!!
