The only full-length studio album by British AOR/Heavy Metal band.
"Zero Four One" title is actually the dialling code for Glasgow, Scotland, where the band from, and the band could almost have been sponsored by the Scottish tourist board as they most definitely flew the flag for this proud and most beautiful of countries. Sadly, the band was a short-lived affair but quite a few years of development went into getting the band to the stage where they released this album, and then they eventually folded in the early ’90s, although there have been several resurrections and there is a new, current version of the band alive and well north of the border, we all wish them well. It is a real pity that this was not the springboard from them to go on to a great career, as this is a most assured debut with some fabulous songs and great performances.
Michael Boyle has a great voice and drives the band forward with authority, with Archie Dickson playing quite splendid solos and riffs to die for. Then, of course, is the drumming of Paul McManus, as good a drummer as there has ever been, and he is more than ably supported by the bass work of Neil Russell. The keyboards are understated and used for effect as this is a traditional, straight forward Hard Rock band, with Melodic Rock tendencies, so all songs have great hooks and lots of vocal harmonies to make this a most easy listening album indeed. Of course, it is ’80s Scottish rock so if you were into bands like Heavy Pettin then you will love this and there are even passages that hint at the heavier work of Pallas too. 
A great Rocking album of inspired ’80s Hard Rock with plenty of melody and great songs from a band that really should have been huge! If ever a band deserved a little luck, then it is Glasgow!!

The third full-length studio album by Dark Ambient/Funeral Doom Metal band.
While the band’s sound has been, and remains, rooted within the dark and maleficent realms of Dark Ambient and Industrialized soundscapes, the band has often toyed and teased with uncounted styles and subgenres in their quest. Once again, Goatpsalm brings an album full of misery, but the band’s path of achieving that goal is much different from the trails they’ve trod during prior outings. The band has always said that their line-up, aside from the core duo, has flowed as freely as their music. Downstream sees the addition of Vaarwel, the force behind the eclectic Russian project Frozen Ocean, which sees another left turn for Goatpsalm.
Despite the grand scale of Goatpsalm’s writing, "Downstream" is anything but an easy listen. The band is constantly teetering on the edge between shamanistic Ambient musings, crushing dirges and jarring, Industrialized movements. It’s as if the band wanted to imbue the listener with a sense of wonder and amazement, then quickly remove any sign of hope with an iron fist. The sparing vocals further in the removal of anything that might glimmer, utilizing a multifaceted approach, with each vocalist sounding just as dreadful and miserable as the next.
Moments of bewitching charm are surrounded by sepulchral slabs of Funeral-tinged Doom Metal and unsettling Industrialism. Repeated listens allow "Downstream" to become the earworm that it was meant to be, even if it invokes a fair amount of dread. This is not an album to sit passively in the background, but if you consider yourself up for a challenge, "Downstream" will be lurking in the dark.
Haunting passages of rustic Ambient noise, primal Paganism and slow dirgeful dread. Wonderfully atmospheric for fans of Blood Of The Black Owl!

The third full-length studio album by legendary Belarusian Pagan/Folk/Doom Metal band.
Other than being the best Folk Metal album of the year, if not decade, "Steel Says Last" is also one of the most unexpected reunion stories. Initially slated for release in 2001, it got stuck in production limbo; Gods Tower disbanded, and in 2003, their guitarist and songwriter-in-residence, Alexander Urakov, drank himself to death. End of story. But as vocalist Lesley Knife admitted later, the idea of a reunion has been bouncing around since the day they split, and in 2010, they finally did it, recruiting Urakov's pupil Dmitry Lazarenko on the axe - and those were some big shoes to fill.
No bookmaker would have offered sensible odds that it all would work out -- but those who banked on it would have raked in a heap of cash, because the record is as unique as "The Turns" and "Ebony Birds", which made Gods Tower a cult band in Europe in the late '90s to early 2000s.
 The thing is, there's approximately a million bands that play Folk Metal by getting a dude with bagpipes or flute to toot over Hard Rock riffs, but with Gods Tower, the Ethnic elements are encoded right in the guitar work - in the genes. The music is based on melodies that sound at once traditional and devastating in the best Metal sense, and offers plenty of clever, also Folkish, licks backed by thundering bass. The midtempo rumbling, Knife's hoarse roar, and the meaty production seal the impression - this is really how Slavic tribes would have sounded on the march, if given guitars and Marshall amps. Between the you-have-to-hear-it guitar playing, the vaguely timeless melodies, and the monumental feel of an ancient legend made riff, these guys can induce battle trance like no other, and it's an experience not to miss out on!

Second compilation album by Brithish Synth Pop project.
Goldfrapp have spent the past decade moving back and forth between icy Electro-Glam and Atmospheric balladry, delivering these extremes in tonally consistent albums that dare to alienate listeners who favor one style over the other. Despite this polarity, the duo has a remarkably consistent aesthetic, with a gloss of aloof sexiness and cinematic glamour connecting the sci-fi cabaret number "Utopia", the sinister S&M throbber "Strict Machine", the swelling ballad "Black Cherry", the Glam Rock stomp "Ooh La La", and the spacey yet pastoral Folk tune "A&E".
Following the duo's departure from EMI in August 2010, it was confirmed in April 2011 that Goldfrapp had begun work on their sixth studio album. In December 2011 Mute announced that a fourteen-track retrospective compilation titled "The Singles" would be released on 6 February 2012 by Mute and Parlophone, including the biggest singles from their five studio albums, as well as two brand-new songs, "Melancholy Sky" and "Yellow Halo". "Melancholy Sky" was released on 3 January 2012 as the compilation's lead single, while a video for "Yellow Halo" was directed by Lisa Gunning and entirely shot on Gunning's iPhone in South America. Both of the new cuts call back to their delicate, loungey debut, "Felt Mountain", but Gregory's approach has evolved with time, integrating elements of each record along the way. These songs may be a deliberate move to come full circle at the end of this retrospective set, but they could just as well point to a future in which the duo can comfortably let all aspects of its sound coexist on one record, as they do on this collection.
"The Singles" as a whole feels like a more complete and satisfying journey than either of Goldfrapp's last two albums, progressing confidently from crushing guitar-driven Boogie to weightless Space Pop!

The fifth studio album by famous pop punk band from USA. 
This album sees them moving away from the 'dancey' feel of 2007's 'Good Morning Revival' and back to their pop-punk roots. Singer Joel Madden says the album sounds 'a lot like Blink-182', with a more basic feel than the alternative rock of their recent records. After originally completing 'Cardiology' with producer Howard Benson, the band decided to completely scrap the album and start again with Don Gilmore, who also produced Good Charlotte's debut.

The debut full-length album by Australian Thrash Metal band.
Unlike their local supreme Rock gods AC/DC, is a manifestation of old school Speed Metal, one of the truest forms of Metal music, you probably remember this orientation like the early version of Metallica, “Kill ‘Em All” era mainly,  old Anthrax, Exodus and some others.
This album is a killer Metal record; it brought back directly to 1983 with the first burst of old US Metal. The opening track, “Embrace”, opens with a classic acoustic part that can be found in many earlier platters of Thrash and Speed Metal tracks. Obviously, it roughly altered to a full assault of speed attack. Rapidly, this song immediately defined the album and the course of the band’s music in overall. Even with the final clincher, “As Dawn Bleeds The Sky”, which appeared to be at first as the album’s balladry moment, the entire release is a selection of Speed Metal prowess. “As Dawn Bleeds The Sky...” is a picture of raw mastery.
The music contained within  does not disappoint and really delivers one of hell of an energetic riff filled ride from beginning to end the riff-fest never lets up. The music reminds of all the classic proto-Thrash bands which emerged at the height of the NWOBHM with classic albums like Jaguar's "Power Games" and Savage's "Loose 'N' Lethal". The whole album is like a modern take on all the classic Metal produced in the 80's. The vocals are great and are not your typical Thrash vocals but fit more comfortably in the NWOBHM school of vocalists which adds so much to the album and songs. Take for example "Love thy enemy" which has such a classic feel and chorus that it feels like this song has already been the anthem to your life for the past 20 years. The album is a breath of fresh air with every riff packed full of youthful energy and enthusiasm.
The artwork which has just caused a blood clot to your brain due to the excessive shouting and throwing of the horns was done by none other than Andrei Bouzikov who has also done artwork for Toxic Holocaust, Violator and Skeletonwitch to name a few.
Without a doubt, this album is sure to get the band signed soon. Fresh, lively, funky, magical, fantastic, flexible, thrashing and heavy are some of the best choice words to sum up the content. A must hear for Thrash, Heavy and Power Metal lovers, as this album combines all three wonderfully! This album is a must hear vital and essential album for any self respecting Metal head!!

The second album took Gothminister to a totally new level. In Norway the band became historic by being the very first Gothic Industrial band to be sponsored by Rikskonsertene to do a nightliner tour in the biggest cities. Support on the tour were Tristania. Even Bylarm (“Norwegian Popcomm”) organized a dark Rock/Gothic event in connection with the release. In Europe, Gothminister played more than 100 shows in over 20 countries to promote “Empire Of Dark Salvation”, touring with bands like Lacuna Coil, Theatre Of Tragedy and Mortiis.
The smash hit “Monsters” reached no.11 on the German Alternative Charts, and big success also overseas led to Gothministers’s first U.S headliner tour, taking on New York to Hollywood.

The second and the final full-length album by Spanish Symphonic Black Metal band.
When Gothmog’s debut album “A Step In The Dark” was released back in 2009, it appeared there was a new standard bearer for the Symphonic Black Metal scene, combining the high quality sound of the big names with the underground credibility of an unknown act.
Gothmog went through lineup changes galore in the intervening years between albums, with a new vocalist and keyboardist taking the reins for “Aeons Of Deception.” The sound quality has changed, becoming fuzzier and less sharp this time around, with more of an old-school feel where the vocals are a bit buried under the rest of the sound.
Songs like “…And I Shall Be Reborn” are fairly standard Symphonic Black Metal, and perhaps a little generic even. All the standards are lined up and counted off, with blast beats, cold riffs, and some atmospheric synths in the background throughout the track. The album isn’t entirely by the numbers however, with more of the unique Gothmog sound peeking out in many of the songs and emerging more fully in tracks such as “The Bargain Struck.”
When Gothmog does the evil-yet-melodic sound right, the band really knocks it out of the park, with atmospheric growled voice overs and a gothic and macabre feeling inundating the Extreme Metal aspects. Unfortunately this album feels a little more phoned in and less inspired the stunning debut “A Step in the Dark,” although it’s still easily worth the time of Black Metal fans who have already fully explored the likes of Dimmu Borgir. It has a lot of atmospheric keyboard work counterbalanced by cold Black Metal riffs and screams.
A worthwhile release for fans of Symphonic Black Metal!!

The tenth full-length album by the Swiss Hard Rock band.
The first album with singer Nic Maeder after Steve Lee's death (died in a motorcycle accident).
This Swiss Hard Rockers return and go back to their roots with a totally passionate, ass-kicking album. Nick Maeder reminds of Steve Lee in some ways, but not too much. But if we put the vocals aside and focus on the music and the lyrics we will find out that Gotthard is still Gotthard, only with different vocals.
The album begins with "Starlight" which kicks off this album with an explosive start, and continue with other great songs like "Remember It's Me" and "Shine", "Fight", and of course "Where Are You?" (dedicated to Steve Lee). If we start talking about the music and the songs themselves, we will find a very good album that continues what the guys did before.
The new album is good and it's really worth a listening!!

The eighth full-length studio album by Swiss Hard Rock band.
The new masterpiece of the Swiss legend is fully packed with emotional ballads, cool Rock songs and grandiose singalongs. Like a specter of '80s Rock & Roll coming back to haunt you, Swiss veterans Gotthard keep teasing their hair, waxing their leather chaps, and pumping out glossy, commercial Heavy Rock as though the '90s and Grunge never even happened. To each his own, though, and 2007's refreshingly unapologetic "Domino Effect" taps into the familiar qualities of the Euro-Metal circa 1988, when dinosaurs like the Scorpions, Sinner, and Krokus (whose bassist actually produced Gotthard's early efforts) roamed the landscape unchallenged.
On "Domino Effect", Gotthard sounds perfectly at ease whether they are uncorking darker, heavier offerings like "Gone Too Far" and "The Cruiser" (which recall glory period Savatage); finely crafted power ballads like "Falling", "The Call", "Tomorrow's Just Begun", and "Letter to a Friend" (which they have no qualms about sequencing "Back To Back"!); or more rhythmic, arena-suited anthems like the title track, "Heal Me", and "Come Alive", which remind us of Bon Jovi in their prime.
In retrospect, Gotthard's forceful delivery amid abundant melodicism feels like the natural progression of AOR, with guitars and keyboards sharing almost equal space behind the raspy vocals of frontman Steve Lee on most of the above, plus standouts like "Master of Illusion", "Now", and the clever "The Oscar Goes To...". Closing number "Where Is Love When It's Gone" finally pushes the Pop envelope a tad too far, but with a generous 14 cuts to choose from, Gotthard will surely get plenty of understanding from all fans of accessible Heavy Rock!
The album peaked at #1 on the Swiss charts and was certified as Platinum for exceeding 30000 sales.
The limited edition Digipack comes with the bonus track "Can´t Be The Real Thing".

The debut full-length studio album by Ukrainian Pagan/Folk Metal band.
"Hurtovyna" presents itself as a competent and enjoyable Slavic Folk Metal entity, professional production and playing intact.
First track (folksy, neo-classical intro "Ceremony" notwithstanding) "Hymn to Strybog" is seemingly assembled from pre-manufactured parts like a model construction. The usual, heroic and clean-sung, East Slavic folk harmonies are backed by easily approachable riff set, sympho-keyboard lining and generously fumigated with gleeful pipe melodies. Fans of Arkona (Rus) will be all over this. "Snowstorm" employs a distinctly Ukrainian and, by extension, Transcarpathian Folk fusion via vocal harmonies and pipe melodies, with straightforward (including small traces of Black/Thrash) riffing that can easily be found in many a Pagan band, no matter the country of origin, yet the ornamental folksiest make it worthwhile. "In Memory of Quorthon" obviously had to live up to its title, so this track, the longest on the whole record, is the band's allusion to Nordic Black Metal with a bit of Epic pretension. They are clearly more comfortable with their exuberant Folk fusions, which is exactly what they go back to immediately on "In the Premonition of Inevitable Events" and "Justice", where choruses soar, riffs gallop, keyboards throw open their embellishing quills and the pipes hover above like a fresh flock of swallows. Then, cue in to the adorable ballad "Way to Another World" and make sure to put your sensitive side on display, for this could very well be the only window of opportunity, because afterwards, another smarmy, Neo-Classical outro "Funeral Feast" will courteously escort you out, back to your urban landscape.

Debut full-length album by Norwegian Black Metal band.
Gravdal is a new Black Metal band from the legendary Norwegian Bergen scene, with bands like Gorgoroth, Trelldom, Enslaved, Immortal and many others reside. Gravdal consist of among others of Aeternus and Malsain members.
The band performs "straight in the face" Black Metal. The sound, the tunes, the vocals… Everything just reeks of Norway, and not in a bad way. Galge’s vocal efforts are magnificent, as he carries that harsh and grim scream that sounds oh-so-brutal when in his native tongue. And fortunately, it’s all in their native tongue. The riffing carries a certain amount of melody, while remaining within the old school aura. It’s harsh and raw, yet still melodic. There’s a great deal of tempo changes to keep things interesting, as blasting and brutality can be vigilant one moment, only to be replaced by a slow and agonized section of dissonant (in a good way) strings and marvelous melody up the yin yang. There are tons of twists and turns that keeps you on your feet, but they never step too far off the platform to stumble into the swamp of Progressiveness. Both guitars and bass are fully audible, and interact perfectly with the great drumming. And sound-wise it fits like a tailor-made glove; remaining cold and grim but with a good sound quality.
The lyrical theme is based on proclaiming the tragedy of humans with weak will and to that extent lead their conceited misconceptions of self into despair.
The album was mixed and mastered by Herbrand Larsen from Enslaved at Earshot Studio who is also known for his work with Gorgoroth and Octavia Sperati to name a few.
Fans of the old school Norwegian Black Metal sound will probably get a kick, as well as fans of Craft and the likes. If Gravdal keeps this up, they are on to greatness!

The thirteenth full-length studio album by legendary German Heavy/Power Metal band.
During their career, Grave Digger have made a lot of excellent albums and always sounded like traditional Heavy Metal, but still managed to variated their albums quite good. The almost Speed metal albums of the 80s, epic and melodic albums with big choirs on. But the bottom line in the music has always been and felt like nothing but true Heavy Metal, and it’s the same deal with this album.
This is the first Grave Digger album to feature two guitarists, the only one to feature Thilo Hermann, who co-wrote the album but was asked to leave soon after its release, and also the last one with Manni Schmidt, who left the band in October 2009, due to personal differences with Chris Boltendahl. The guys are spitting out classic, 80s Heavy Metal riffs throughout the whole album, and the sound of them guitars is pretty old-school too.
It is the best album this band has done since 2003’s “Rheingold”, and absolutely better than 1999’s “Excalibur”. Grave Digger still delivers, even if it’s quite far from their best album. Should please any fan of the genre!

The fifteenth full-length studio album by legendary German Heavy/Power Metal band.
After exploring Scottish motifs on their last few albums, Grave Digger turned toward Ancient Greece on "Clash Of The Gods", an opus filled with Gods, heroes and legends. While the lyrics revolve around mythical figures such as Odysseus, Hades, and Medusa, the album's music eschews world music elements and sticks to the band's trademark Power Metal.
The tales are clad in sweeping Power Metal compositions, filled with powerful riffing and catchy choruses. The songs range from fast and driving double bass tracks, anthemic mid-tempo compositions, up to rousing and simply beautiful Power Metal ballads. Crowned by Chris Boltdendahl's charismatic vocals, the new album offers everything a true Metal heart desires!
The magnificent artwork provides the finishing touches and, together with the compositions, brings the legendary figures of Ancient Greek to life. "Clash Of The Gods" is an unbelievable compact and energy driven opus and will grant Grave Digger themselves a warm welcome into the pantheon of the gods!!
In Extremo frontman, Michael Rhein, guests on the album's first track, a spoken word intro called "Charon (Fährmann des Todes)".
