The sixth full-length studio album by Italian Progressive Symphonic Power Metal band.
The fifth official album of the band marks their return to local label Scarlet Records. Following the band’s return, Thy Majestie switched their vocalist once again in favor of the talented Crimson Wind vocalist Alessio Taorminawhile, also recruiting a new keyboardist, Giuseppe Carrubba. These changes, even if considered rather small, present an amazing release and the actual face of Power Metal nowadays.
Thy Majestie has always been an energetic band, that followed the same paths of several of the great European Power Metal names, especially from their own local scene, as Rhapsody Of Fire, Labyrinth and Vision Divine, yet, this particular release sounded more credible as a concept. The lyrics are inspired by old Chinese history, while the music is exciting and containing elements from Gothic and Progressive Metal. Aside from their Metal knowledge that showcased dramatic vocals, wonderful lead guitar works of both soloing and melodies, smashing riffages of both bass and rhythm guitars, that transpired the legend, they present and definitive drumming, the great usage of the operatic factors next to the right usage of keyboards as a wonderful aura of change.
Thy Majestie made their own special comeback, with rooting out his name from the pages of history and into an epic Metal album. As always, this Italian band was able to impress with their sense of storytelling, alongside an amazing talent to create the best suitable music. “ShiHuangDi” is the band’s best possible offering yet!

Debut full-length solo album by Brazilian Heavy Metal/Shred guitarist-virtuoso.
A mix of musical genres with various ethnic influences from the world's fastest guitarist.
The CD contains some really great tracks. Among the songs on the CD also has the performance, the impressive speed of 320 bpm, Nikolaj Rimskij-Korsakov’s "The Flight of the Bumblebee" which sealed the entrance to the Vega Tiago in the Guinness Book of Records in 2008 as the fastest living guitarist in the world. His name is usually cited on international guitarists' website, such as Steve Vai, John Petrucci and Yngwie J. Malmsteen.
Tiago played in bands like After Dark and Fermatha, both from Caxias do Sul- Brazil, his hometown. With the last one he recorded the CD entitled "Advent of the Truth". Vega again beats his previous record of 340 bpm with 370 bpm in Japan.
A real masterpiece and musthave for every guitar/shred fan!

After five years Tiamat have returned with an album full of new material. Predictable is not a word to be used to describe this band and their music. Although, unpredictable isn’t the right one either. However, with Tiamat a few surprises may easily be in store for a listener.
The album was more positively received than Tiamat's previous releases, in part because of its more Metal sound similar to that of the band's previous work. What makes "Amanethes" an enjoyable album is the pleasant variation of the songs. It makes the album seem fresh, not fresh as in new but fresh as in blooming green. Let's say it was more a matter of prejudice and a slight shock. While album ranges from slumbering atmosphere that's been describing Tiamat since "Wildhoney" to the more aggressive side, it's quite a tight bundle. Furthermore, the band has made far better and creative use of their instruments than they've done for quite some time. It's been a while since they really played the songs out to the fullest.
"Amanethes" shows life flowing in the band. In a way, release of this album is perfect for spring. It has that feeling of new life to it. On the other hand, with exceptions of a couple of tracks, it could as well be the high summer and a yellow sunset by the sea, especially if you listen to "Meliae". Or it could be "Raining Dead Angels" if you prefer something gloomy and stormy. Whichever view you like, the fact remains that this album can capture it's listener when really listened to. This album here is a first step in a bit different direction and is probably not yet as fine tuned as it could be. However, Tiamat's past has shown such changeover albums to be lasting in time. Time will show if this one will last as well.
Tiamat is without doubt one of the most interesting Metal bands of our times. "Amanethes" is by far the most sophisticated and diverse Tiamat album. This album is not a compromise, it´s the essence of Tiamat – and it will for sure bring the band to another level and back in the minds of every Metalhead!

"Commandments" is heavily recommended to those who have never heard of Tiamat before, or who don't know Tiamat so well, but it's even suggested to every Tiamat fan, who likes to have a great container of some of their best songs taken from all their discography.
The album is produced by the American Century Media, recently abandoned by Tiamat, that shifted to German Nuclear Blast, and it presents a great sound quality of all remastered tracks, even for what concerns the first "raw" songs of Tiamat. It’s the last Tiamat release with Century Media Records.

Second re-release (first remastered) of the third full-length album by the legendary Swedish Atmospheric Death/Doom Metal band.
"Clouds" was another major step in the quick sonic evolution of Tiamat, as the band continued to scale back their Death Metal roots while pursuing more conventional song structures. The album is still predominately fixated in the Death/Doom genre. Instrumentally, “Clouds” combine delicate acoustic guitars with crushing riffs and atmospheric keyboards. Johan Edlund's voice mixes death growls with a clean, Gothic moaning-type voice. Songwriting contributions from new bassist Johnny Hagel take some of the load off vocalist Johan Edlund, whose improving English-speaking skills and raspy but clear intonations finally let listeners appreciate his esoteric lyrics.
Every song on "Clouds" is distinct in its own way, but it doesn't get much better than "In a Dream" and "The Sleeping Beauty", both of which combine delicate acoustic guitars with crushing riffs and atmospheric keyboards. These same elements are mixed and matched in surprising fashion on "Smell of Incense", "The Scapegoat", and "Forever Burning Flames". The epic "Undressed" closes the album with similar inventiveness and points toward the future.
"Clouds" was only the first step for Tiamat into Gothic Metal/Rock. The band is best remembered for the "Clouds" and "Wildhoney" albums, which is more widespread and Psychedelic/Progressive influenced. "Clouds" would be the last album where the Death Metal grasp was strong, and it’s a telling sign of what the band would discover in themselves two years later. For stepping away from pure Death/Black Metal and laying the groundwork for "Wildhoney", "Clouds" is a historically important record that helped to shape the booming Doom Death Metal scene of decade!!

Second full-length album by the Mexican Death/Thrash Metal band.
These guys sure have cranked it up a few notches since their debut, "Man Made Paradise". While that was more on the Thrash than Death side, this one here veers more toward Death Metal, while remaining somewhat Thrashy. But "Operation: Crash Course" is a f*ckload more intense, faster and in-your-face than its predecessor, with a superior production assuring express delivery to unsuspecting ears.
The vocals are more Death-like, kind of a sharp, abrasive, raucous semi-growl that fits the music like a glove. Machine gun-like riffage can be found all over the place here, literally ripping through the air – there's also a "galloping" style here that keeps things diversified, along with the whirling solos that are about as close to melody as this will get. The drums almost never stop pounding.
"Operation: Crash Course" is one of those albums that pins you to the ground from beginning to the end and leaves you asking for more of that aural punishment, and is quite an improvement over their already more than decent debut album!!

Second full-length album by the Swedish Neoclassical/Melodic Power Metal band.
Time Requiem's self-titled debut was a first-rate album that slipped under the radar of many Metal fans. Masterfully combining all favorable elements of Prog and Neo-Classical Metal, the album was full of energy and, quite simply, a blast to listen to.
The technicality Richard Andersson is renowned for is still present on second album. Kicking off with the frantic, blistering "Reflections", the album leaves a strong first impression. Twenty seconds of atmospheric synths and a quick bit of guitar doodling to warm up those digits and they're off! Frenetic first number "Reflections" makes it clear that it's another day at the races for the musical thoroughbreds behind Neo-Classical Metal masters Time Requiem and their second, technically dazzling Power Metal opus, 2004's "The Inner Circle Of Reality"! A 12-minute title track we hear next, pushing the envelope of Prog-tastic ambition to new heights of indulgence. Time Requiem display such mechanical, super-human speed and precision in songs like "Attar of Roses" and "Quest of a Million Souls," that one is left wondering if this is actually the work of men, not some Roboto-like automatons.
The keyboard playing in the CD is completely amazing. Richard Andersson without a doubt one of the best players out there.
With songs like “The Inner Circle Of Reality and “Attar Of Roses” gives you the option to realize that no matter how good you are these guys seem to get faster and cleaner within each song.
This is the CD that sets a pace that Progressive Metal should be placed on. Magnus Nord easily keeps up on the guitar with Richard and have runs together that are reminiscent of the old Deep Purple duels that Ritchie Blackmore and Jon Lord had however with a level in a while.
With a name taken from the gods Apollo Papathanasio has a voice that is suited for his name. Singing in an almost operatic style isn’t hidden behind the musicians but leads them with great style.
Time Requiem kicks open that door in a big way and continues in the same tradition of Rising Force but with an even more modern and energetic sound. If you're a fan of this sort of Prog Metal, grab this one for sure!!

This is an album that breaks any practical scheme of grotesque melody to deliver a new evolutionary form of his music. You'll be pleased to crush your ears with something so fascinating.
"Lapses" contains a completely different side to her previous recording. Largest riffs, most barbaric environment, a more Progressive structure and a more melodic voice. 12 tracks (10 real tracks plus an intro and outro) traversing all schemes you can find in Death Metal, keeping melodic and experimental as based on this concept album. You can find a carnivorous beast theme "Severe Episode of Lunacy", a maddening under jars "Lapses", a swing of sequences from Thrash to Progressive with "Erratic", Technical Speed with "Hausdorff Space" and most pro Doom/Death Metal epilogue as impressive as it is "Lasting Sequel". Definitely an album that has it all, and emotion in each track not lacking. This last feature shown fair climax in its last issue before the outro, where the smoothness of a rough track with Death and Doom dense and serene achieve a musical realize that funeral arouses nostalgia one silenced in being.
"Lapses" album is totally recommended for anyone looking for a Progressive and cruel musical design with touches almost melodic style Amon Amarth as well as for fans of: Hypocrisy, Gorefest and Meshuggah! A pretty heavy album that can teach you a lot!!

Official release of the third full-length solo album by legendary Finnish musician multi-instrumentalist.
"Saana - Warrior Of Light" is the first Rock Opera composed by ex-Stratovarius mastermind Timo Tolkki. Timo is going to run in to some resistance from the Metal faithful on this album. For the most part, "Saana - Warrior Of Light Pt. 1" eschews the trappings of Metal and sticks to a more traditional Operatic approach. There is very little guitar here, and what little there is doesn’t follow the shredding Power Metal feel that you would expect from the former main songwriter of Stratovarius. Mixing conventional Rock instruments with choirs, classical percussionists and a string ensemble blended seamlessly with cinematic influences, "Saana" is a breathtaking experience of emotions and dynamics. Timo Tolkki calls it "A Classical Rock Opera". 
"Saana - Warrior Of Light Pt. 1" is one long song broken up into 16 movements, filled with some terrific, moody classical pieces with all of the dynamics and nuances you’d expect in a traditional Opera. Hystory challenges its listener with a spectacular story of a woman who is about to end her life but is suddenly stopped by what seems to be a caring stranger ,who takes her on a journey that will change her life forever. Not only will she discover her destiny and find out her purpose, but she will also discover the biggest secret humankind has ever known. The final battle between good and evil has started. The ‘Rock’ on this Rock Opera really comes from two of the voices chosen: Janette Sainio (Revolution Renaissance) and Heikki Pöyhiä (Twilightning) who provide the heavier moments vocally, instead of having a shredding guitar solo. The opera part definitely comes from the pure soprano vocals of the main character portrayed by Jennifer Sowle. Her vocals actually the highlight of the album, giving it an incredibly authentic feel.
Tolkki has made a serious attempt at creating something special with this album. Playing almost all the instruments himself, he’s kept the creative control he strived for in Stratovarius and managed to up the symphonic ante without having to worry about pleasing the Metal masses at the same time. He’s managed to create the classical pieces he was pushing Stratovarius to embrace without any of the pompousness that resulted in previous attempts. It’s hard to pick stand out tracks as everything flows together here but Saino’s performance on ‘3 at 7’ could certainly lend itself to being a single if such a thing is needed here.
"Saana" varies from quiet emotional moments of beauty to unseen heights of despair and hopelessness and in itself carries a message that burns like the brightest flame. That message you must discover yourself. "Saana - Warrior of Light Pt. 1" it's a very worthwhile piece but be aware that there's no guitars whatsoever on show.
Metal it ain’t but as far as music and letting your artistic side loose, Timo Tolkki has done a fantastic job with this album! It really is beautiful!!
The album was originally to be released by Frontiers Records, but the label rejected the final master presented to them by Timo Tolkki. After discussions between lawyers, Tolkki bought back the rights to the album and it was originally sold only through his official website, before Scarlet Records agreed a deal to distribute it in January 2009.

A compilation album by legendary American Pop Rock/Soul singer.
Released March 2009 to coincide with the European leg of Tina’s 50th Anniversary Tour, "The Platinum Collection" is a beefed-up version of "Tina!", a compilation released in the run-up to her 2008 world tour. Whereas "Tina!" was released in North America, "The Platinum Collection" was released in Europe a few months later in anticipation of the European leg of her tour. 
"The Platinum Collection" is a three-disc set with nearly all of Tina’s solo singles as well as some songs with Ike Turner. It’s almost definitive at 48 tracks in length. And it includes all of Turner's major hits, including six Ike & Tina Turner-era recordings ("Nutbush City Limits", "River Deep, Mountain High", "I Want to Take You Higher", "Get Back", "Come Together", "Proud Mary"), and goes all the way up to the latter-day hits "When the Heartache Is Over" and "Whatever You Need" from her most recent studio album, "Twenty Four Seven" (1999), and "Open Arms" - the one-off single from her best-of compilation "All the Best" (2004). In addition to all the hits, "The Platinum Collection" includes a couple new songs co-written by Guy Chambers ("It Would Be a Crime", "I'm Ready"), and fortunately it also includes her stunning collaboration with Italian superstar Eros Ramazzotti on his 1998 hit "Cose Della Vita". Unlike "Tina!", "The Platinum Collection" includes the studio versions of "I Can't Stand the Rain" and "Let's Stay Together" rather than live recordings. 
All in all, "The Platinum Collection" is a treasure trove of hits by Turner. Not only does it include all of her solo hits, but it also includes several songs released by others on which she is featured as a guest (e.g., "Tonight" with David Bowie, "Tearing Us Apart" with Eric Clapton, "It Takes Two" with Rod Stewart).

The twelfth full-length album by Norwegian Hard Rock/Heavy Metal band.
In the USA and Scandinavia, the album has been titled as "Engine" for reasons best known to record companies. Album features 11 new songs and a redo of “Harley Davidson” (as a European bonus track), which originally appeared on their self-titled debut release back in ’82. The song “Not Only Lonely” appears on the Japanese release as a bonus track.
Since forming in 1982 the band have been through many lineup changes, and the current lineup includes two members from the 1982 lineup - Ronni Le Tekrø (Guitar) and Morten "Diesel" Dahl (Drums). They are joined by Victor Borge (Bass) and Tony Mills (Vocals), both of whom have been with the band for around five years. After two albums with vocalist Tony Mills, TNT finally may have settled down a bit, returning to a heavy, less experimental vibe. Now TNT is ready to Rock again!
With 12 studio albums under their belt, it is easy to hear that the composition is strongly influenced by Tekro. With Tekro and Mills credited as writing the majority of the music, it’s easy to see why Mills was asked to join the band. His vocal range is a perfect match for Tekro’s frantic guitar playing. At times, his vocals are eerily similar to Harnell but not in a copy-cat way, maybe it’s just that he has incredible range and can sing way up in the stratosphere, which is exactly where Tekro playing is.
“A Farewell To Arms” is heavy, and it’s melodic… it’s also a bit experimental. But this time around, that experimentation is reigned in considerably. The album kicks off with "Engine" which starts with some distorted electric guitar before the song kicks in at full power. This is definitely a heavy track, and it sets the tone for the album - plenty of heavy guitars, great tunes and great vocals making this a great Hard Rock album. "Refugee" slows the pace slightly, but not significantly, before "Ship in the night" - a classic TNT Melodic Rock song with a good catchy chorus. The album ends with "God natt, Marie" (ignoring the bonus track on the European version) - a slow gentle ballad/lullaby.
From a fan perspective, after veering off the path to find a new identity, TNT returns with a vengeance. "A Farewell To Arms" hits you a lot like "My Religion" did when it came out. The main difference between the two albums is the guitars are heavier. There’s not a bad song on the CD.
TNT got criticism from many fans following their two previous albums, but this album should avoid that fate - this is TNT back to their best, and all Hard Rock fans should consider checking this album out!!

The second full-length album by Norwegian Gothic/Doom Metal band.
To Cast A Shadow are now back with their second full-length album so far, after the press-acclaimed debut "All Alone" album back in 2008. The new opus, entitled "In Memory Of", witnesses the evolution of band’s sound and the big potential and authenticity of To Cast A Shadow's music.
To Cast A Shadow's tale begins with a band of three friends coming together in a basement to play loud and pounding grooves, and continues through epochs of experimenting within a range of heavy musical stylings. Influenced by The 3rd And The Mortal, My Dying Bride, Type O Negative, Satyricon, Anathema, Tool, Paradise Lost and Black Sabbath, the band's musical expression has landed firmly within the domain of Melodic Doom/Goth Metal. The sound was finally complete when a female singer was added to the mix. The original twist to the music must be found in the angelic voice of Gunnhild, which is the main voice besides the male grunting and growling. Gunnhild does not have the most remarkable voice of female Metal singers, but she simply is the best addition to these tunes of Doom and melancholy, and she does so with power and crystal clear cleanliness.
"In Memory Of" challenges two common prejudices – that against Goth Metal, whatever that is, and that against Metal where women actually sing, despite the fact that male and female Metal singers often share the same register. This record is simply fine Metal. It is mostly subtle, melodic Doom, but sometimes it wields classic Metal heft and Black Metal atmosphere.
There are clearly Sabbath-ey Doom touches here and there but the category that sprang to mind is Goth. Proper, old fashioned Goth Metal as pioneered by the likes of Paradise Lost. It’s dark and brooding in places and it has that quintessential Goth sound with wailing guitars, brooding emotion and to top it all off an impressive vocal performance from Gunnhild Huser. The album opens with the cheerily entitled "Tormented" which gives an excellent taster for what is to come. Add this to the fact that the songs are beautifully written in that finest depressing Goth tradition and it all combines to make this a very special release.
The CD was recorded at Hamar Recordings in Norway with producer Kristian Sigland (The Crest, Theatre Of Tragedy) and was mastered at Leon Music Studio in Sweden by Rikard Lofgren. It features a guest appearance by Theatre Of Tragedy lead singer Nell Sigland in the song "Betula". The artwork was developed and realized by Matthew Vickerstaff of Darkwave Art (My Dying Bride, Cradle Of Filth).
If you are a fan of Dark, Gothic Metal from the likes of My Dying Bride and Paradise Lost then To Cast A Shadow are a band that it is definitely worth checking out!!

The seventh full-length studio album by legendary Symphonic Power Metal project.
In 2014, Tobias Sammet stated that "The Mystery Of Time" hinted at a sequel and the details to that sequel were announced in November 2015. Unlike "The Wicked Trilogy", which spawned three different albums, "Ghostlights" concludes the plot started on the previous album, "The Mystery Of Time". Musically, it shows a more theatrical tone than its predecessor, which Sammet claims to have been spontaneous, not planned. "Ghostlights" heavier, more mysterious and darker than the previous album. It have no musical limits and all guest singers harmonized well with Sammet's vocals (Dee Snider, Geoff Tate, Jorn Lande, Ronnie Atkins, Marco Hietala, Sharon Den Adel, Michael Kiske, Bob Catley, Bruce Kulick, and others).
The opening track and first single "Mystery of a Blood Red Rose" was a candidate for the German representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016, along with nine other songs.
"Ghostlights" scored the highest positions of any Avantasia release in several international music charts and marks the second time Avantasia has entered the US Billboard 200 albums chart.
"Ghostlights" came partially close to Avantasia's early releases like "The Metal Opera" and "The Metal Opera Part II", as well as early Edguy albums, and without a doubths one of Avantasia's strongest releases to date!!
The album signed in loving memory of Tobias Sammet's father, Ernst Sammet, who died on December 21, 2013.
