2008 has become an extremely exciting year in the history of Century Media Records, one of the world's most respected independent homes for heavy music, as the label is celebrating its 20th anniversary.
The company's anniversary year started off with an extremely successful, first-ever yard sale/party at the Century Media office in Dortmund (Germany) in June, where several hundred guests partied out on exclusive live shows by ANGEL DUST and TURISAS. 
To further celebrate this anniversary, Century Media Records will release the very special 2CD compilation "Covering 20 Years Of Extremes" on September 15 in Europe and on October 14 in North America. The all-covers release includes 32 mostly exclusive recordings and will be available in stores for the price of one CD. Sticking to the "keep it in the family" slogan, CM approached its artists about covering songs from other acts within the label's repertoire and the response from the musicians was overwhelming. Some choices were obvious and homages to the bands that influenced them, others were inspired picks. This combination ended up leading to a heavily entertaining and truly special final result across all sub-genres of heavy music.

Another compilation tribute to Prince of Darkness, legendary Ozzy, this time played by the most famous Metal artists!
It's safe to say that the most "tributized" gentleman in the realm of Hard Rock/Heavy Metal has been Ozzy Osbourne. Over the years, a continuous stream of releases by other artists covering either Black Sabbath or Ozzy's solo years has hit the racks, and the "2006 edition" was "Flying High Again: The World's Greatest Tribute To Ozzy Osbourne". Whereas most of the other aforementioned Ozzy tributes generally featured newer acts reworking their favorite tracks, "Flying High Again: The World's Greatest Tribute To Ozzy Osbourne" features mostly '80s-era rockers - save for a few exceptions. Interestingly, there are also some "Ozzy alumni" who drop by - guitarist Brad Gillis (who was a short-lived replacement for Randy Rhoads) on a remake of "Over the Mountain", Motörhead's Lemmy tackling "Desire" (a track he co-penned with Ozzy for his 1991 "No More Tears" release), and Lita Ford revisiting her Top Ten hit ballad (originally a duet with Ozzy) "Close My Eyes Forever". Other intriguing renditions include Dee Snider's "Crazy Train", a Jazzy rendition of "Goodbye to Romance" by the Alex Skolnick Trio, and a downright hilarious rendition of "Revelation (Mother Earth)" by Novembers Doom (whose vocals sound like the Cookie Monster eating the mike).
But not all of the participants are Metal veterans, as evidenced by the presence of Children Of Bodom ("Shot in the Dark") and Icarus Witch ("S.A.T.O.", which features George Lynch on guitar).

This legendary compilation album is the musical breed and Metallic potential from members of the infamous Hellbangers Heavy Metal Fan Club, started by Okkulto (ex-Desaster) and Costa Stoios (Iron Pegasus Records).
Hellbangers started in 1996 when the local Metalheads from the Mosel area met the guys (Desaster and friends) from the Koblenz area and gather all the local Metalheads from all the small villages in the area under one flag. Originally it was only Hellbangers "Moselfranken" and around 10 years later some Finnish maniacs asked if they could open a "chapter" and most guys here said "ok".
Includes exclusive tracks from Desaster, Metal Inquisitor, Nocturnal, Goat Messiah, Witchburner, Har Shatan...etc and the Finnish Hellbangers from Urn, Flame and Evil Witch!
The first thing that strikes as a positive impression is the diversity among the bands included, from Thrash, Black to Heavy Metal it seems that all "Hellbangers" fight on the same side. Personally it sounds more like a big Metal party where every band shows its loyalty and dedication to Metal beyond genres, categorizations and that's what makes this release so damn cool!
Every band does some really good job in its sector! Don't overlook this really cool compilation!! Fasten your seatbelts, this is Metal right up your ass!!!

Remastered re-release on CD of the cult compilation album of 80’s!!
“Lead Weight” was one of the most important NWOBHM or generally Metal compilations ever made! Nevertheless, it’s never been re-released in its original form and that, ladies & gents, is a major Rock’n'Roll crime! Guess it’s kind of hard to explain what this album meant (& means) for many people back in the days before internet, personal computers and cell phones.
NWOBHM classics here, not the least of which being the tracks from: Raven, Venom, Blitkrieg, Warrior, Aragorn... lesser so for the other tracks. But the whole thing is a genre landmark, being first sampler chock full of essential bands from the movement.
Reissues of compilations are rare, simply because most compilations don't really matter in the long run. But “Lead Weight” from 1981, originally released on Neat Records, was a definitive example of the great NWOBHM movement; an album treasured upon its release and still looked on favorably by all fans of the sound and the times.
Krescendo now reissues it, and that's a beautiful thing!
