The third full-length album by Chilean Death Metal band.
A somewhat surprising entrant that crawled out of the mountainous streets of Santiago, Chile, Thornafire have delivered to the world their latest full-length album. Sporting a catchy, sometimes Thrashy sound to coincide with their already-established Death Metal roots, "Eclipse Nox Coagula" is arguably the trio’s finest record to date.
The production is cleaner this time around, which breathes life to all of the instruments properly. Though the final mix comes off as a tiny bit too sterile regarding the drums and guitars, thankfully the raw energy and bite hasn’t been totally removed; the songs are still heavy. The tracks on "Eclipse Nox Coagula" generally follow a "Darkane / In Flames meets Carcass" between "Necroticism" and "Heartwork feel", meaning there are plenty of melodies and hooks encircling the underlying Death Metal.
The album is highlighted by the swirling, catchy “Malefactor Manifesto” but other powerhouses are “Inmortal Agonia” and “Sumisiуn” and there isn’t a lousy song in the bunch. "Eclipse Nox Coagula" flows smoothly from start to finish and while every song follows a similar style or formula, they are different enough to stand apart from one another.
Though Thornafire aren’t the most unique or original dudes to ever pick up some instruments, their take on a tried and true style of Death Metal is honest and entertaining!!

THRASHER “Burning At The Speed Of Light” /Digipack CD/
Remastered re-release on CD of the debut and only full-length album by the American Heavy/Speed Metal band.
All-star project consisting of mostly New York based musicians. It was put together, produced, directed and arranged by drummer Carl Canedy (The Rods; ex-Manowar, etc), in partnership with guitarist Andy “Duck” MacDonald (ex- Blue Cheer), upon the instigation of Combat Records.
Line-up of this project also includes a pack of the legendary musicians as: Jeck Starr (Virgin Steele; Burning Starr; etc), Billy Sheehan (Mr. Big; ex-David Lee Roth; ex- UFO, etc), Gary Driscoll (R.I.P. 1987) (ex-Rainbow; ex-Elf, etc), Dan Spitz (Red Lamb; ex-Anthrax; ex-Overkill, etc), James Rivera (Helstar; Malice; ex-Vicious Rumors; ex-Flotsam And Jetsam; ex-Agent Steel, etc), Dan Bëehler (Exciter; ex-Kiljoy, etc) and more.
Carl Canedy and company had prophesized it would be when the concept started to congeal as far back as ’82-’83, this fairly valiant project probably shifted names about a fifty times before zeroing in on the woefully misappropriate Thrasher. Recording for this supposed all-star game started as early as June ’84.
There’s really no showboating, no unwarranted solos or jam sessions, and though Canedy and Duck play in just about every tune (hell, they wrote it all, why not), there doesn’t seem to be any favoritism amongst participants. Fortunately, this isn't the crotchety conglomeration of worn-out ideas, and in all this project was very good!

ThrOes is Dissident Metal from Tasmania and the brainchild of Trent Griggs. ThrOes began life in 2003, and exist outside stylistic influence or trend (every imaginable mental, physical and financial obstacle had to be overcome). Thirteen long bleak years ensued that saw Griggs eternally at war with the energy involved in creating the material. He worked in solitude during this period. Great patience and execution of will was necessary to let the material evolve organically, and independently of any outside stylistic influence or trend. Every imaginable mental, physical and financial obstacle had to be overcome. And their debut album finally was released, featuring guest appearing by Trent Griggs, James Ludbrook (Damaged), Kevin Talley (Suffocation, ex-Misery Index, ex-Six Feet Under, ex-Dying Fetus), Mark Evans (Alarum), and David Caswell (WDD).
ThrOes shows off good qualities, in particular in the varied rhythms ranging from slowdowns, accelerations and sometimes unconventional time signatures; it is mainly the bass that places itself as the beating heart of the tracks, supporting the undoubted skills of Kevin Talley that adapts effortlessly to every stylistic variations. Acoustic guitars and keyboard inserts are embellishments that make their appearence only in rare occasions, perhaps they deserved more space in a work that doesn't manag to be always entertaining.
Ultimately, "This Viper Womb" could be appreciated by those, who are looking for an artist with his own personality. This is not like any Metal album you have heard before. This album will ruthlessly infect all utterly. This is Dissident Metal!!

THRUDVANGAR “Durch Blut Und Eis” /CD + DVD Digipack/
The fourth full-length studio album by German Viking Black Metal band.
This is classic Thrudvangar - "Durch Blut und Eis" is again a masterpiece of the band's earthy, catchy, dynamic Viking Metal!
For this release, the band has come up with a detailed concept story on Eric the Red Thorvaldsson, the famous ancient seafarer, discoverer, and conqueror. A lot of sagas, lore and stories are woven around this famous and fascinating man - and the German band has transferred them into Nordic, heroic Metal sounds.
Majestic, atmospheric keyboard parts are the base of the new versatile and multi-faceted compositions. The courageous fighter Thorvaldsson is aptly characterized by vehement guitar attacks and aggressive rhythms - Thrudvangar are able to transform heavy sword thrusts into music!

The second full-length album by American Power/Thrash Metal band.
The Sardo brothers may not be well known to the mainstream Metal scene, but those who love the 80's underground tape trading circuit know all too well their impact on the California scene. Their appearance on "Metal Massacre 4" from Metal Blade with the band Sceptre included future Agent Steel vocalist John Cyriis - then known as John Camps and playing guitar. That band would mutate into Sardo, becoming faster with a more brutal overtone that helped the scene naturally evolve. Now Thrustor is the main band for vocalist/guitarist Phil Sardo and his bassist brother Tony, along with newest drummer Tomasz Pilasiewicz - residing in the Chicago, IL area and taking on an aggressive form of Thrash Metal with slight blasting Death/Technical overtones on this second album "Abysmal Fear".
Musically the 10 songs appear to toe the line of their California roots with heavier overtones - artists like Forbidden, Metal Church, Sindrome and Nevermore come to mind the most when taking in winning cuts like "Into the Blackest Hate", the moodier "Burnt Offerings" and killer double bass / stop and start riff action monster "Brutal Assault". Phil employs an imposing vocal stance - clearly audible but will never be mistaken for the Chuck Billy or Joey Belladonna's of the world - it's more of a half talking / half aggressive manner that gets the job done valiantly. It is interesting that the album delves deeper into the technical chops towards the second half - with "Screws to the Skull" being one of those head turners in terms of Tomasz fleet snare rolls, Phil's twisted riff endings and squeals and Tony having to keep up with the proceedings at hand.
This is a style that appeals more to the musicians at hand than the average consumer - but Thrustor could be worthy of your time if you are looking for a left of center Thrash band! These veterans of Metal still have what it takes to be creative and viable in 2012!!

Debut full-length album by British Hard Rock band.
The band was signed with EMI after performing a demo audition in 1989, and soon began recording their first album. It was released in early 1990. It’s band's most successful release, going Top 20 and Gold in the UK and even charting in America. Songs like "Dirty Love" (#55 on the USA charts), "Backstreet Symphony" and "An Englishman On Holiday" rock, while the ballads "Until My Dying Day" and "Love Walked In" also impress the listener. The title track reached #25 and, the following year, "Love Walked In" reached #21. This album would prove to be Thunder's only charting release in America (although they continued to have success in their native country), but they definitely deserved more recognition and therefore "Backstreet Symphony" gets two thumbs up!!

The fourth full-length album by the British Hard Rock band.
How fast things change in Rock & Roll. In the span of just a few years during the early '90s, Thunder went from favored saviors of British Hard Rock thanks to their triumphant 1990 debut, "Backstreet Symphony", to strife-ridden not-quite-stars when 1992's strong follow-up, "Laughing On Judgement Day", almost saw guitarist Luke Morley joining a then still relevant Whitesnake, to borderline untouchables thanks to the advent of Grunge and a bitter, disillusioned third album in 1995's "Behind Closed Doors".
So, come 1996 and their fourth album, "The Thrill Of It All", two details were evident: first, that Thunder was never going to become the next Whitesnake or Def Leppard (not that they'd want to, by that stage) and, second, that the only way for their fortunes was up, even if their latest material showed only marginal improvement over their latest effort. Classic Rock galore, in other words, but its immaculate production and meticulous song craft helped make it a huge smash in Japan!
The album was moderately successful, reaching number 14 on the UK Album Chart with the single "Don't Wait Up For Me" reaching number 27 on the UK Singles Chart.

You can hear here Thrash Metal through and through. Raw and coarse Old School tones which go straight into the ear. The guys sound thereby fresh and unconsumed. Some melodic specles give additionally the main points without thereby sounding too soft. Typical guitar solos as well as a forceful drumming result in the typical sound which thrills the listener from the first to the last note. The emphatic, distinctive vocals of vocalist Simone Flammini give additionally drive. Very dedicated and professional recorded offers “Enemy At The Gates“ everything a good Thrash Metal album needs. The sixth full-length studio album by Italian Progressive Symphonic Power Metal band.
The fifth official album of the band marks their return to local label Scarlet Records. Following the band’s return, Thy Majestie switched their vocalist once again in favor of the talented Crimson Wind vocalist Alessio Taorminawhile, also recruiting a new keyboardist, Giuseppe Carrubba. These changes, even if considered rather small, present an amazing release and the actual face of Power Metal nowadays.
Thy Majestie has always been an energetic band, that followed the same paths of several of the great European Power Metal names, especially from their own local scene, as Rhapsody Of Fire, Labyrinth and Vision Divine, yet, this particular release sounded more credible as a concept. The lyrics are inspired by old Chinese history, while the music is exciting and containing elements from Gothic and Progressive Metal. Aside from their Metal knowledge that showcased dramatic vocals, wonderful lead guitar works of both soloing and melodies, smashing riffages of both bass and rhythm guitars, that transpired the legend, they present and definitive drumming, the great usage of the operatic factors next to the right usage of keyboards as a wonderful aura of change.
Thy Majestie made their own special comeback, with rooting out his name from the pages of history and into an epic Metal album. As always, this Italian band was able to impress with their sense of storytelling, alongside an amazing talent to create the best suitable music. “ShiHuangDi” is the band’s best possible offering yet!

Among the songs on the CD also has the performance, the impressive speed of 320 bpm, Nikolaj Rimskij-Korsakov’s "The Flight of the Bumblebee" which sealed the entrance to the Vega Tiago in the Guinness Book of Records in 2008 as the fastest living guitarist in the world. His name is usually cited on international guitarists' website, such as Steve Vai, John Petrucci and Yngwie J. Malmsteen.
Tiago played in bands like After Dark and Fermatha, both from Caxias do Sul- Brazil, his hometown. With the last one he recorded the CD entitled "Advent of the Truth". Vega again beats his previous record of 340 bpm with 370 bpm in Japan.
A real masterpiece and musthave for every guitar/shred fan!

The ninth full-length studio album by legendary Swedish Gothic/Doom Metal/Rock band.
"It's been a long time but we are back again..." A quote from an opening track "The Temple of the Crescent Moon" says in short what needs saying. After five years Tiamat have returned with an album full of new material. Predictable is not a word to be used to describe this band and their music. Although, unpredictable isn’t the right one either. However, with Tiamat a few surprises may easily be in store for a listener.
The album was more positively received than Tiamat's previous releases, in part because of its more Metal sound similar to that of the band's previous work. What makes "Amanethes" an enjoyable album is the pleasant variation of the songs. It makes the album seem fresh, not fresh as in new but fresh as in blooming green. Let's say it was more a matter of prejudice and a slight shock. While album ranges from slumbering atmosphere that's been describing Tiamat since "Wildhoney" to the more aggressive side, it's quite a tight bundle. Furthermore, the band has made far better and creative use of their instruments than they've done for quite some time. It's been a while since they really played the songs out to the fullest.
"Amanethes" shows life flowing in the band. In a way, release of this album is perfect for spring. It has that feeling of new life to it. On the other hand, with exceptions of a couple of tracks, it could as well be the high summer and a yellow sunset by the sea, especially if you listen to "Meliae". Or it could be "Raining Dead Angels" if you prefer something gloomy and stormy. Whichever view you like, the fact remains that this album can capture it's listener when really listened to. This album here is a first step in a bit different direction and is probably not yet as fine tuned as it could be. However, Tiamat's past has shown such changeover albums to be lasting in time. Time will show if this one will last as well.
Tiamat is without doubt one of the most interesting Metal bands of our times. "Amanethes" is by far the most sophisticated and diverse Tiamat album. This album is not a compromise, it´s the essence of Tiamat – and it will for sure bring the band to another level and back in the minds of every Metalhead!
