HEIMDALLS WACHT “Geisterseher” /2LP/

The seventh full-length studio album by German Pagan Black Metal band.
Heimdalls Wacht is a quintet, one that recently partially re-invented itself when they added a new drummer and an additional vocalist to their already very experienced line-up. And, in order to celebrate this event, the band wrote, performed and produced their latest full-length album, which bears the title "Geisterseher" (roughly translated into ‘a person who can see ghosts’).
Heimdalls Wacht’s music comes in a most distinctive and expressive blend: on the basis of Raw and at the same time melancholic and Melodic Black Metal, a number of stylistic influences have entered the sound throughout the years, from Folk and Doom, via Progressive and melodic classic Metal, through Thrash and Death Metal.
The fact that the group features two vocalists which has made the Heimdalls Wacht style so exceptionally variable, hardly equalled within the confines of the genre, and which underscores the overall musical vibrancy. Coming complete with the power of a twin guitar duo next to the pounding drum-and-bass rhythm machine, the band’s live sound is testimony to the sheer energy of the extreme.
The "Geisterseher" shows Heimdalls Wacht in a for the band never seen professional sound created in the worldwide appreciated Stage One studio of Andy Classen (Krisiun, Asphyx, Belphegor etc.). Apart from this, the professional modern standard doesn't conflict with the true oldschool underground attitude of the band.
“Geisterseher” is a great release from Heimdalls Wacht - they’ve created an entertaining and interesting take on Black Metal. This is a well-thought-out album which nonetheless sounds natural and not at all like the band is trying too hard. And while Heimdalls Wacht does have a strong emphasis on the lyrics, the strong ambience they build up through their music is more than adequate to draw you in, whether you understand what is being said or not!
