First re-release of the debut full-length album by the cult German Thrash Metal band.
Necronomicon is one of those German Thrash Metal bands that never got the attention they actually deserved. They always walked through the shadows of the three main bands of the German scene, which are Kreator, Destruction and Sodom - all three are Thrash Metal legends. They all had solid label backing, played nationwide tours and full-colour advertisements for their records were to be seen in all the Metal papers of the day. But what about Necronomicon? Necronomicon had had the same luck as the above mentioned three in signing a deal with one of the prominent German labels in the mid-‘80’s. But instead of securing a deal with Steamhammer (like Sodom and Destruction), Noise (Kreator) or even Roadrunner, Necronomicon ended up with... Wave Records. A very obscure label with a very obscure name. Wave Records was something like the distribution arm of Gama Records or at least that’s how they wanted to make it look like to the public. Gama always was a very dodgy label, ripping off bands left, right and centre and that was one of their ways to cheat people for their money. Signing to Gama was a very bad choice.
Necronomicon was loved internationally, especially in all Scandinavian countries, USA and South America. Back in the ‘80’s, fanzines were all over the place, and they wrote about the band on a regular basis. This was different in Germany, but it has only changed over the last couple of years – ironically.
In 1988, it seemed the end of the road for Necronomion had come (after only three albums). Band definitely needed to part ways with Gama. But Gama held the rights to all the songs, to band's name, to just about everything. Musicians were practically forced to do nothing at all or change their name (which band did not want to do). So, they had to sit through all this, doing nothing. For the band, there was only one question: are they gonna wait until eternity to put out another Necronomicon album or do they take the risk to get sued by Gama? At this point in time, band got the news that Gama was filing for bankruptcy. So, guys took the risk to record a new album... In 1994, the fourth longplay, “Screams”, was released on CD via D&S Records. Unfortunately, band's liaison with D&S was not very enduring either. It was a rocky way for Necronomicon up until the present day...
Luckily, the rights to the songs had reverted to the band. An odyssey of uncertainty and suffering has come to and end. The present for Necronomicon marks the deluxe re-release of their legendary debut, by many fans still regarded as one the greatest German Thrash Metal records in history.
This album is a fu***ng piece of violent and brutal German Thrash Metal, it has all what an adept of 80s European Thrash Metal want in an album. The first thing that catch our attention when listening the album is the unique sound quality, not quality-wise but rather in rawness, because the album has a somewhat "Punkish" sound on it, which is a pretty damn cool thing! The songwriting on the album is great, they had a lot of great ideas for sure. The musicianship on the album is far from top-notch, but it's still great enough to enjoy everything that is played, especially for a first effort. The mix on the album is pretty much what you would expect from a record with that production work. The main focus on the album is the guitars, because they are somewhat higher in the mix than the other instruments. But in general, the mix is pretty good. The guitar sound has sometimes been compared to that of the mighty (early) Celtic Frost. Volker also had that ultimate crunch in his guitar playing. The drums are well-performed, using basic Thrash technic. The vocals of Freddy are basically a worship of Schmier, they have a really similar tone (which is a good thing for Destruction's fans). Another interesting thing on the album is the kind of riffs we have. Yes, the type of riffs are similar to those of Destruction, but Necronomicon made great additions to it, by expanding even more what they did before. You will also hear the typical fancy guitar solos like in Destruction. The most popular song is indeed "Possessed by Evil", which is a unique original piece of the German Thrash scene and is mainly considered a classic.
Overall, this is not the catchiest album ever, but songs like "Blind Destruction" or "Iron Charm" has solid choruses, this is the kind of songs that will get stuck in your head for a bit of time. There's no bad tracks on this album at all, each track have their great moments and killer riffs! It's obviously recommend people to give the album a few listens. This is the kind of album that needs to grow in you before appreciating its evil art, but once you're into it, you will dig it and see its catchiness. If you're a 80s German Thrash Metal fan, especially fan of Destruction, then you need to look up to it!! This is an undeniable classic German Thrash Metal album!!!

The first compilation album by cult German Thrash Metal band.
Among the earliest pioneers of German Extreme Metal, Necronomicon presents their foundational works in this collection, which features two demos from 1985, "Total Rejection" and "Blind Destruction", and two tracks from the 5-way Split-LP "Break Out - German Metal Tracks No. 2" (1986).
The cover is a creation of the Brazilian artist Thomas Machado Pinheiro, who tried to get a feeling of those days in the past. And Steven Willems (editor of the fanzine Sleepless, writer for magazines as Rock Tribune and Voices from the Darkside, and author of the book “Streams of Ancient Wisdom” about the Dutch Death Metal scene) wrote the liner notes, based on an in-depth interview with founding member Freddy (guitars and vocals), placed at nice 12-page booklet.
Restored and remastered by Patrick W. Engel at Temple of Disharmony (noted for work with Vio-Lence, Sodom, Destruction), these recordings capture the raw intensity that marked Necronomicon’s legacy – aggressive Old-school Thrash Metal in the vein of Kreator, Destruction and Sodom!

The band makes its effort to pay tribute to some of the pioneers of the Doom/Death genre, such as Candlemass, My Dying Bride, Katatonia, and Anathema. Guitars are very My Dying Bride alike indeed, and vocals are truly dark, more desperate. Nex is good at creating a proper atmosphere.
Lyrics are loosely based upon works of Swedish poets, except for a Darkthrone cover "Over Fjell Og Gjennom Torner", which suits the entire album pretty well.

The third European re-release of the sixth full-length studio album by legendary Finnish Symphonic Metal band.
It was released on 26 September 2007 by Spinefarm Records in Finland, 28 September by Nuclear Blast in Europe and 2 October 2007 by Roadrunner Records in the US. It is the first album without original vocalist Tarja Turunen, who was dismissed in 2005, as well as the first album involving future member Troy Donockley on uilleann pipes and tin whistle. It is the first of only two albums with vocalist Anette Olzon, who was eventually dismissed in 2012 after the release of the band's subsequent album, "Imaginaerum". Tuomas Holopainen has referred to this album as the "album that saved his life".
The song "Eva" was leaked on the Internet six days before its official release, prompting the band to release it earlier as a promotional Single, to boost downloads. Several other versions of the song were posted on YouTube and torrent sites a month later; the entire album with record label voice-overs had been leaked on the Internet by 2 August. The full album (without voice-overs) was leaked on 21 September, as a result of several stores in Mexico selling the retail album much prior to the worldwide release date.
On 22 September 2007, the band hosted a secret concert at Rock Café in Tallinn, Estonia, disguising itself as a Nightwish cover band called Nachtwasser. Their first official concert with the new singer was in Tel Aviv, Israel on 6 October 2007. The Dark Passion Play Tour thus started, visiting the United States, Canada, most of Europe, Asia, and Australia. In 2008, the band played over 100 shows, with dates in Oceania, Europe and Asia. In November, the band played in South America, and before this leg they took a three-month break; Nightwish began the third leg in 2009, with dates in North America and Europe, and also playing in several summer Metal festivals, including Graspop Metal Meeting and Masters of Rock. The last show was played in Helsinki, Finland, in front of 10,000 fans.
Pre-orders for "Dark Passion Play" had it certified Gold in Finland before it had even been released. The album debuted at number one in 6 European countries, selling over 100 000 copies in Finland (triple Platinum). In February 2008, the album was certified quadruple-Platinum in Finland, after having sold over 130 000 copies, and placing 26th on the list of best-selling Finnish albums ever released. Worldwide, it has sold over 700 000 copies by the end of 2007 and about 2 million copies to date. It has been certified as Platinum in Germany and Hungary, and Gold in Austria, Poland, Sweden and Switzerland; "Dark Passion Play" is also the most successful Nightwish album in UK and USA, with sales in the United States of over 134 000 copies.
The instrumental version of "Whoever Brings the Night" is used in the 2011 puzzle-platform game, "LittleBigPlanet 2". In November 2014, the NHL hockey team Minnesota Wild featured the album's first track "The Poet and the Pendulum" in their season trailer. In 2016, an article by Teamrock considers "Dark Passion Play" as one of the "best albums of this century", ranking it at number 60 on their countdown of the "21st century's greatest albums".

Unlike its predecessor, "Imaginaerum", which has themes of imagination and fantasy, "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" addresses science and reason. Focusing on the evolutionary theories of Charles Darwin and Richard Dawkins, the latter part of the album cites passages from their books. Both authors influenced album tracks; 'The Ancestor's Tale' inspired "Endless Forms Most Beautiful", and by 'The Greatest Show on Earth: The Evidence for Evolution' inspired "The Greatest Show on Earth". Some songs, such as "Edema Ruh" (inspired by Patrick Rothfuss' novel 'The Name of the Wind'), still have fanciful themes.
The album is the band's first featuring singer Floor Jansen (After Forever, Revamp) who joined the group on the road in 2012 after the mid-tour departure of Anette Olzen. Also it's the first album with Troy Donockley as a full-time member. It was recorded without drummer Jukka Nevalainen, who took a break from the band due to severe insomnia. Drumming was by Kai Hahto (Wintersun, Swallow The Sun, Dreams Of Eternity). The album includes only five Nightwish members, despite its being their first album release as a sextet.
Nightwish has endured numerous lineup changes throughout its nearly 20-year career, but the band's sound has remained remarkably consistent, due in large part to the stabilizing presence of project founder and chief songwriter Tuomas Holopainen, whose overall vision for the band remains unchanged. 
"Endless Forms Most Beautiful" is probably the most accomplished Nightwish album so far. It's succeeds despite its strict adherence to the Nightwish formula. It's a well-oiled machine firing on all cylinders, both expansive and familiar, and it's arguably the band's most immediate-sounding record in years!

First re-release of the ninth full-length studio album by legendary Finnish Symphonic Metal band.
Band's first double album, with the second part complete with orchestral music rather than Metal.
The band managed to do something different and still stay true to a lot of the elements that define them, and the album really gives a more natural, organic, almost humble approach. It’s still properly bombastic at times, but it seems like after they sealed their name as gods of Symphonic Metal, they wanted to go back to just being human. It’s fresh and beautiful, calming at times, and it somehow just sounds healthy. Unfortunately underrated in the community, the album full of varied and entertaining songs and great musical performances from a band that has changed but evolved positively over the years. After Tarja, this is a great discovery. This album is, at last, the best since Tarja's departure. Good for Tuomas. Great album. The new Nightwish album is a good thing, and you should definitely check it out.
It is the sixth and final album to feature bassist/vocalist Marko Hietala, before his departure in January 2021. Following the departure of original drummer Jukka Nevalainen the previous year, this is the first album to feature Kai Hahto as an official band member, although he had already acted as Nevalainen's replacement on the band's previous album, "Endless Forms Most Beautiful".
The album became the band's seventh consecutive album to top the Official Finnish Albums Chart.
Definitely recommended for anyone who likes Epic and heavy bombast with cheese on top, for everyone who gave up on post-Tarja-Nightwish and for everyone who does not care for Trve Metäl credibility when it comes to melody!

Remastered re-release of the cult acoustic live album by the legendary American Grunge band.
It features a performance taped at Sony Music Studios in New York City on November 18, 1993 for the television series MTV Unplugged. The show was first aired on the cable television network MTV on December 14, 1993. As opposed to traditional practice on the television series, Nirvana played a set list composed of mainly lesser-known material and cover versions of songs by The Vaselines, David Bowie, Meat Puppets (during which they were joined by two members of the band onstage), and Lead Belly.
“MTV Unplugged In New York” was the first Nirvana album released in the wake of the death of singer/guitarist Kurt Cobain. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, and has become the band's most successful posthumous release, having been certified 5x Platinum in the United States by 1997. It also won the Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album in 1996. The performance was released on DVD in 2007.

The first re-release of the debut full-length studio album by cult Swedish Power Metal band.
Nocturnal Rites was born in Umea in 1990 as a Death Metal act that were trying to find their integrity in the Underground scene. However, by the time Nocturnal Rites had released their first demo in 1991, everyone was playing this brand of Metal to protest the new direction that Thrash was going. So soon after, Fredrik Mannberg realized that instead of being a member of an over-large group of Death Metal bands, it would be a better choice to do something that no one had been doing significantly for years, play Melodic Power Metal in the NWOBHM style.
"In A Time Of Blood And Fire" is historic for many reasons. It came out in 1995 when Metal was almost dead; bands like Iron Maiden, Metallica or any other 80s band or Thrash Metal band were going through their toughest times. Since the old gods weren’t able to keep their style bands like Nocturnal Rites were inspired to give the style of Metal, that had been rejected for quite a while as old fashioned, a rebirth. The mix of Metal that Helloween did on their "Keeper..." albums, mixed with the best of the NWOBHM genre and you get that very thing that defines good Heavy Metal.
For anyone that read about this album in a fanzine and bought it back in 1995 will probably remember how breathtaking it was. The songs themselves are very straight-forward in their structure, and function as a rather indicant combination of the speed and flash of Judas Priest, the melodic lines and interludes of Iron Maiden, and take no prisoners lyrical content of Manowar, and the energetic spirit of Motörhead. There are keyboards on here, but they are used pretty much for atmospheric effects and are not overly prominent. The only flaw in this album is that the production is slightly sub-par, but the strength of the songs almost makes this a non-issue.
There are no bad songs on this album but it still went unnoticed at the time of its release and it would take another two years before Hammerfall released their first album before this kind of music was becoming popular again. Nocturnal Rites were among the first and they would continue to grow both music wise and in popularity when they hooked up with guitarist Norberg and singer Lindqvist. Now more than 10 years after its release and with a Power Metal genre that is just full of bands just copying each other it still feels that this is the album that started it all and it has what most other generic Power Metal albums lack nowadays. This is classic Metal done the right way and it still gives us goosebumps. This is a Power Metal album that will have a lot of appeal to fans of traditional 80s Metal, particularly NWOBHM.

Nocturnal Rites are something of an amazing band -- amazing in the sense that they couldn't care less that it's no longer the early '80s. "Tales Of Mystery And Imagination" recalls the tightly riffed, classically tinged twin-guitar interplay of bands like Helloween and especially Iron Maiden, in the sci-fi/fantasy lyrics as well as the music.
It's a carefully crafted effort that will appeal strongly to fans who, like Nocturnal Rites, still love this particular style of Metal regardless of trends.

The second re-release of the third full-length studio album by cult Swedish Power Metal band.
Nocturnal Rites play Italian-style Power Metal. They showed progress with each release, and continue to get better. This was their last album with singer Anders Zackrisson, and a peak of sorts in their early history before the noticeable stylistic change on "Afterlife".
What we have here is light and tuneful Euro Power Metal in the vein of Angra, Gamma Ray, or even early Rhapsody. There is very little in the way of keyboards on the album, so there are no Symphonic arpeggios to snooze through. This is old-fashioned guitar driven Power Metal with good clear vocals.
This is not terribly heavy, or innovative. But there are some really good songs on here. "Destiny Calls" is firmly in the happy-Metal camp with a great chorus you can’t help but sing along with. "The Iron Force" has a great main riff, and "Ride On" is another happy headbanger. "When Fire Comes to Ice" is very cheesy, but you’ll be singing along. "Glorious" is another hook laden song that closes out the album. There are some clinkers here too, though. "Free at Last" is too slow and poppy, "Hold on to the Flame" is even sillier, with lyrics that verge on the sickening, they’re so happy. "The Legend Lives On" is a slow ballad, meant to be epic, but insufferably indulgent. And there are too many tracks like "Eternity Holds", "The King’s Command", and "Unholy Powers" that sound alike and go on too long. That said, this is a fun album, if you like this sort of Helloween stuff. If you are a fan of Power Metal, this album won’t disappoint.
This is another great release that demands the attention of fans of older 80s Metal fans and newer Power Metal fans alike. This is more great, fun, and catchy Power Metal!

Originally released in 1996 on MC and considered by most as a demo-album, it's a professionally recorded full-length album and highly anticipated cult release requested by fans of elite Slavonic Black Metal, that was reissued on CD and vinyl for a several times.
"Lunar Poetry" is steeped in moonlight mystery and timeless Slavonic ritualism. This is Black Metal with highly expressive Folk sorrowful melodies. It delivers soaring guitars and apocalyptic keyboard passages. It offers a wide variance in vocals, from screams to whispers and narration, and it breathes the air of originality that Nokturnal Mortum is famous for.
Similar to Limbonic Art in their reliance on rumbling rhythm patterns and keyboard usage, Nokturnal Mortum did a fine job of capturing both - the bleakness of Black Metal, as well as a more ethnic representation of their native Ukrainian Folk music. The music is extremely fluid and tends to lean towards a more majestic and beautiful sound than harshness of Black Metal.
The band also covers Celtic Frost's "Sorrows of the Moon" with a nice degree of skill.
"Lunar Poetry" was way ahead of its time, and even today it sounds fresh and inspiring. In fact, the result is so startling - it is hard to imagine that this is only Nokturnal Mortum's very first journey into the dark, the ancient and the extreme... Regardless of occasional inexperience that is typical for a demo, "Lunar Poetry" is a beautiful, stirring and impressive album that utterly requires your attention if you have any liking for a keyboard laden Black Metal assault! Without a doubt, "Lunar Poetry" is one of the best Black Metal albums ever!!

The first re-release on vinyl of the debut full-length studio album by cult Swedish Melodic Death/Doom Metal band.
October Tide was a side project formed by two members of Katatonia with their style not at all far removed from that fine band. Melancholic, sorrowful mid-paced Metal, with Death Metal vocals laid over the top. Jonas Renske performed the vocals on "Rain Without End" like he did on all early Katatonia albums, intense, deep and very atmospherical. The October Tide line-up during "Rain Without End" was: Fredrik Norrman (electric, acoustic and bass guitars) and Jonas Renske (drums, electric and acoustic guitars and all vocals). This is the only October Tide release with Jonas Renkse on vocals.
The album was recorded at Unisound, Örebro, Sweden, in 1995. Later, it was re-mastered by Dan Swanö, during the winter 2007- 2008.
This re-release contains both the original and remastered versions.
