A mix of Progressive Metal, surrounded by samples, ethnic and new age passages and also many sound colors that give evidence for the Medittaranean roots of Fragile Vasteness. With a multitude of guest musicians playing a variety of instruments rarely heard in any genre of Metal, such as the djembe, and a low-pitch Peruvian wind instrument: the quenacho, the band successfully blend world music sounds with Fusion, Electronica, and frenzied Progressive Metal. The band draws so many influences that it is impossible to understand the music without hearing it.
The production, like the song content is first rate. Every instrument comes through loud and clear, and the album never loses its strong sense of power and grandeur, even during mellow parts. The band produced this album, and succeed in creating an intriguing sonic canvas, where nothing, not even heavy distorted guitars sound usual or expected.
Fragile Vastness has come from nowhere to produce one of the most interesting and diverse albums in a long time. These excellent musicians seamlessly blend a myriad of genres and instruments to create a style that is unique in every way in this excellent debut. This is not only an album for fans of Progressive Metal, but also a must have for any open-minded listener. Expect a Progressive Metal masterpiece from Fragile Vastness in the very near future!

The speed on this album is unreal, right from the get-go we start off with fast drums, chugging guitars and amazingly fast and clean keyboard playing. This all builds up tension and eventually the lead guitar comes in, with amazing fast playing. The album has an overall Progressive shred feeling to it with a fair amount of the songs clocking in at least over six minutes long and there is some neat odd time changes here and there adding to the craziness and chaos of the music. The guitar follows the keyboard melodies, really creates a nice contrast over the chugging backing rhythm, it provides quite an intense listen. In certain parts of the songs the tempo slows down and we get a nice middle 8 from the keyboards, only for a short period before going back into the intense shred guitars, it creates a great effect on the music. Francesco really proves he has great ability on the keyboard/piano as well as on the guitar. The guitar tone cuts through very well and has a lot of clarity to its sound. The bass from the great Kyle Honea is intense as well, some real virtuoso playing to be found. Drummer Lucrezio de Seta provides some great drumming on this record, mainly going for the fast and intense approach to his drumming here but handling all the different time changes very well. CD divided into two parts, one heavy ("Into the Dark Line" tracks 1-9) and one acoustic ("Out of the Dark Line" tracks 10-15). From tracks 10 the album takes a calmer approach, incorporating a big focus on piano/keyboard and also some nice acoustic guitar playing. The five tracks that follow, as said previously, are also a lot calmer compared to the earlier songs on the CD, and the album ends on a gentle note.
Overall, if you like instrumental guitar shred consisting of fast and relentless, intense playing, and a big Progressive vibe then this is definitely for you, a lot of the time the CD is like this, but also has some good variation in which it incorporates some calmer, shorter songs, particularly towards the end of the CD. The technique displayed on this CD is definitely to be noted, as it is fantastic from all the musicians on this CD!!

Francesco recorded the “Suspension” album at his home studio, Suspension Records, from October 2000 to January 2001. He played and recorded all the guitar parts (in which he used an Ibanez RG550), as well as keyboards, bass guitar and drum programming.
You can tell that the whole album is going to be pure bliss from here. No song is deficient of soul and emotion, as portrayed especially in “Pointbreak”, “Introspective”, and “Secrets”, in which Francesco employs a tapping technique on a clean sound throughout the whole song. There are, of course, your wild Shred masterpieces, like “Suspension”, “Cyborg”, and “Paradox”. Re-edition contains additional track "Relentless".

Freternia’s debut “Warchants & Fairytales” was released in July of 2000. Album shows a young up and coming band with excellent ideas and a great singer. Freternia utilizes a similair combination of heavy, fast melodies, powerful choral elements, and fantasy lyrics as Blind Guardian but with musical influences leaning more towards bands like Helloween and Gamma Ray.
Persuader’s first album “The Hunter” was released in July of 2000. Album shows a big potential of the band. Jens Karlsson and lead guitarist Emil Norberg would later team up with Blind Guardian drummer Thomen Stauch and Iron Savior guitarist/vocalist Piet Sielck to form Savage Circus!!

The ninth full-length album by Belgian EBM/IDM/Industrial/Ambient band.
It was the band's first studio album in 10 years. Front 242 never allowed the commercial world to embrace them, pulling back from the brink in 1993 with a pair of radical, difficult albums. Since they undoubtedly had little to fear from the mainstream circa 2003, ten years after their last discernible studio album, the trio returned to their vision of detached but hooky Industrial angst with "Pulse".
Some CDs should have the mention "headphones compulsory" as a superficial and careless listening can make you miss the essential. "Pulse" is the perfect example because it needs the greatest attention to detect all the subtleties. For the opening, Front 242 invents a kind of electronic riff, one of those which asserts oneself, with a frantic rhythmic and near trance sounds.
The record begins with "SEQ666," a five-track suite of gritty, hi-res EBM instrumentals - slightly updated, with the help of Cubase, but clearly recognizable and pure joy to fans of mid-'80s classics like "Official Version". Following are a few tracks of thematic Pop ("Together", "Triple X Girlfriend") and an able evocation of the era when Front 242 were the kings of grim, catchy Teutonic angst ("Headhunter", "Tragedy [For You]"). The rest of the record is muddled, taken up by extended, multi-track suites that prove the trio's continued programming prowess but are also as inscrutable as much of the material on their most difficult record (1993's "05:22:09:12 Off").
Similar to the return of Industrial kingpins Ministry a few months earlier, though, "Pulse" sounds like the record Front 242 wanted to make, the type they could make only once the pressure was off. The 74 minutes are dense and varied and Front 242 hasn't chosen the easy way!

The debut full-length studio album by Danish Funeral Doom Metal band.
Influenced by bands such as Fields Of The Nephilim, Sisters Of Mercy, Celtic Frost, Burzum, Ved Buens Ende, Thergothon and Vangelis, the band came up with the album containing inspirations from those different genres and sounds. “Omniversal Existence” is a deep, personal and sublime piece of extreme doom. It is an introspective reflection, that is full of visceral emotion.
The run time makes it a very easy album to listen to in terms of flow and overall presentation, and these two things make it an album with a very high replay value. The overall feel of the album is, of course, depressing but more Gothic and melodic at times than dismal.
Funeral Chasm have crafted an excellent debut, and any fan of this style of Doom should be just as pleasantly surprised. This is definitely a band to watch in the coming years!

General musical concept of the album is a lingering Atmospheric Black Metal based on melodic guitar lines, overdriven chords and acoustic fingerpicking, alternating with psychedelic atonal inserts typical of DSBM, including dissonant intervals and terrifying hysterical ear-piercing shriek vocals.
The band has successfully achieved a right balance between the high-quality Post Black Metal for the wide range of Black Metal fans and the sense of true Underground Black Metal.
Throughout the album length, the band does not slide into a dim musical chatter and draggy copying of the famous DSBM bands. However, Funeral Oppression feels quite confident about its position among such bands as Shining, Woods of Desolation, Austere, Thy Light, etc.
Highly recommended to all fans of different atmospheric music styles, Post Rock, Post Metal, Post Black Metal, Shoegaze, Atmospheric and Depressive Black Metal!

Funeral has been making dark, mystical Funeral Doom Metal since 1991 and is currently back in the Metal spotlight with “To Mourn is a Virtue”.
"To Mourn Is A Virtue" could become a surprising opening both for fans of the band and those who are interested in the genre. It's the missing link between the classic albums "Tragedies" (1995) and "In Fields Of Pestilent Grief" (2002). The album is based on unreleased demo-recordings, and contains nine previously unreleased tracks recorded between 1996 and 2004, remastered in 2010, almost 15 years after the moment they were initially recorded in the studio.
The album offers a dark path into the mystical emotions of a human being. It combines the slow, thunderous riffs of conventional Doom/Sludge Metal with lyrics of pain, death, self despair and such forth. The musical composition offers the perfect stimuli to an impressionable mind. Its calm, unobtrusive tones suck the listener down to the inner depths of human emotion.
Funeral, regarded as one of the first bands in the Funeral Doom Metal genre, further evolved to a more Doom/Death Metal approach, now presents a classic Doom Metal record.
