The fourth full-length studio album by legendary Swedish Black Metal band.
Originally released in October 1988, through Music for Nations sublabel, Under One Flag, this is the first Bathory album that would use anonymous session musicians (credited under the Satanic pseudonyms "Kothaar" and "Vvort") until "Blood oOn Ice" released in 1996.
The album, although mostly Black Metal, includes some of the first examples of Viking Metal. According to the book "Black Metal: Evolution of the Cult" by Dayal Patterson, "Blood Fire Death" began a second trilogy, an era Quorthon described as the "pre-Christian Swedish Viking Era".
On "Blood Fire Death", Viking influences join for the first time the Black Metal coldness we are used to when hearing Bathory. A phenomenal masterpiece with a good balance between brutality and sublime melodies is the result.
In 2009, IGN included "Blood Fire Death" in their "10 Great Black Metal Albums" list. In 2023, Rolling Stone listed "A Fine Day to Die" as the 76th-best Metal song of all time.

The debut full-length album by Danish Thrash Metal band.
Battery making waves since their 2012 "Mental Pollution" EP. The band was formed in 2008 by drummer Andreas Joen and vocalist/guitarist Chris Steel after their previous outfit, Abattoir, disbanded. Since then they’ve released a trio of demos, the aforementioned EP, and now this, their first full-length album featuring ten solid Thrash metal tunes.
This is very much American-styled Thrash with a slight Crossover tinge, mainly in the manic vocal preaching of Steel who has a strained yet effective style. Musically it’s solid, often beefy and well-produced Thrash Metal with the usual influences ranging from San Francisco Bay Area crunch, a sprig of Slayer, Dark Angel et al and even the more Deathly influence of Possessed – again in Steel’s vocals.
While this 11-track opus rattles by, there are nonetheless some catchy numbers which stick in the head, the best examples being the paced ‘Pyramids Of Decept’, with its strong, yet smooth bass-lines, and the simmering menace of ‘Vermin Of Fukushima’, which begins as a Slayer-like dirge.
Far from being the world’s most groundbreaking thrash album however, "Armed With Rage" is still a furious cauldron stirred by those frenzied guitars and rumbling drums which Joen can be commended for.
Whether this platter has enough legs to carry it beyond the hordes of other Thrash bands piling onto the horizon we’ll just have to wait and see, but "Armed With Rage" boasts some very good numbers which should provide 40 minutes of assault and battery to the senses!!

The tenth full-length album by the cult Polish Black/Death Metal band.
Given that "The Satanist" is not only the first album by Polish firebrands Behemoth in five years but also their first since frontman Nergal was diagnosed with leukemia in 2010, you might expect them to be restless at the start, to burst open in a characteristic tangle of Extreme Metal. But they begin slowly, a sinister riff cutting patiently through open air. The drums march rather than maraud, while the bass pads the pocket. It feels like the preamble of a classic Rock anthem, perhaps the sequel to “Hells Bells”. But really, Behemoth want to make sure you can hear Nergal and understand him when he opens with purely heretic invective. Rather than emerge as though they have something to prove through speed and precision, one of Heavy Metal’s most popular bands elects to return with something to say that’s as vile and startling as most any moment in their previously impious two decades. Even the precipice of death, Nergal implies, didn’t soften his sacrilege. "The Satanist" in many ways reflects a synthesis of their stepwise, two-decade journey between atavistic Black Metal, expert Death Metal and a mid-career hybrid of the two. "The Satanist" doesn’t give up on high-end recording; in fact, with its occasional exultant choirs, horn fanfares, and acoustic interludes, it’s a complex and deliberate affair. This time, the sheen only highlights what’s beneath the surface, revealing these songs’ eccentricities and thrills rather than buffing them out.
Nergal is careful to stretch his style sheet of references beyond the Devil and Christ; he folds Latin and Coptic concepts into these lines, even nodding to John Milton in one passing moment. There was some doubt, after all, if Nergal would even live long enough to make another album. And there was certainly more doubt than hope that, if Behemoth did finish a tenth record, it would stand somehow as a late-career renaissance. But "The Satanist" is a terrific coil of most everything Behemoth have ever done well, a strangely hopeful vision of hell wrested away from its very grip. A vital, crushing monster of an album, it feels as though the band is digging deep here, tapping into hidden reserves of infernal power to deliver an album of profane and powerful sonic destruction! Behemoth sound revitalized and ready to destroy everything that stands in their path, and fans should be ready to either go along for the ride or be crushed!!

After the great success of "Heaven on Earth", Belinda Carlisle released her third solo album, which included even more radio hits. While it'e easy to hear three songs from "Heaven On Earth" while listening to radio, "Runaway Horses" carried four big radio hits.
"Leave A Light On" has an amazing melody, Belinda's beautiful voice, great breathtaking lyrics and also George Harrison's guitar solo. It has stayed a live stable for all of these years.
"La Luna" is a Spanish-type song. This is one of those few songs ever written with a couplet better than the chorus is. Although the chorus is catchy and beautiful, and the couplet brings Belinda's voice into another dimension.
"Summer Rain" is a song with a very long chorus and definitely has been a live favourite through the years. The melody is pure gold.
"We Want the Same Thing" was not a hit with the album version, but the remix did it. The album version is Poppier than the remix but still very good.
"Vision of You" is a slow song. It is a great song, although not one of favourites from this album.
"Runaway Horses" is a perfect Pop song and one of her most underrated songs. The story of the song is fascinating.
"Shades of Michaelangelo" is one of the greatest songs of the album. It was overlooked because there are many other good songs too. It is one of the greatest songs Belinda has ever been writing. Just like "Love Never Dies" on "Heaven On Earth", "Shades of Michaelangelo" is a beautiful and perfect album closer.
There are many good songs we often forget while discussing this album. "Whatever It Takes" has a guest vocal of Bryan Adams, an amazing song too. "Deep Deep Ocean" is a beautiful and relaxing song. The quality of the songs is very high. Without a doubt, this is one of the best Pop albums of the 80s!
The album spent a total of 25 weeks on the Billboard 200 and certified Gold by the RIAA. It reached number four in the United Kingdom and was certified Platinum. The album was also a success in Australia; it peaked at number six and certified double Platinum, becoming the 24th best-selling album of 1990.

The eighth full-length studio album by legendary American Rock/Pop singer.
The first studio album in ten years, since the release of "Voila" (2007), a collection of Chansons performed by Carlisle in French. Unlike her previous releases, which have largely been characterized as Pop music, it consists of a series of Sikh chants performed by Carlisle in Gurmukhi and is inspired by her practice of Kundalini yoga.
In the first decade of her post-Go-Go's solo career, Belinda Carlisle delivered six albums as a mainstream Pop artist, notching hits with songs like "Mad About You" and "Heaven Is a Place on Earth". Following 1996's "A Woman and a Man", Carlisle largely abandoned her solo pursuits, participating in a handful of Go-Go's reunions and battling a drug addiction that lasted until 2005. Newfound sobriety and the influence of living in France yielded 2007's "Voila", an unexpectedly high-quality collection of French Pop songs and classic Chansons, which she sang entirely in French.
With another decade in the books, the California native returns with yet another personal passion project in 2017's "Wilder Shores". Like "Voila", "Wilder Shores" eschews any attempt at mainstream Pop, nor does it offer more than a handful of English-language tracks. A long-time devotee of the practice of Kundalini Yoga, Carlisle and her producer/collaborator Gabe Lopez have set to music a collection of Buddhist chants and mantras, the bulk of which are sung in the ancient Gurmukhi language. Though Pop-oriented in structure, the mostly acoustic arrangements are adorned with Eastern instrumentation like tabla, harmonium, and sitar, and Carlisle's increasingly smoky voice handles the tricky chants surprisingly well. Although it suffers somewhat from the inherent blandness that often comes with this type of New Age Fusion, the album's tone is generally uplifting and the acoustic piano rendition of "Heaven Is a Place on Earth" that closes out the collection slots in well with the overall vibe and intention.
Carlisle commented on her inspiration behind making the album, specifically her practising of Kundalini yoga: "I have been practising Kundalini Yoga for over twenty-five years and in the last twelve years I have built up a serious practice routine and begun studying the mantras that are used in classes much more closely. I’ve always wanted to do an album like this, but I never felt I was ready until early in 2015. It’s not just music on this album, it’s a science that requires an element in the voice called the Naad. Naad is almost a transference of energy through the voice, and it wasn’t easy for me to learn. That being said, I am a Pop singer, so I could never be a traditional chant or Kirtan artist as it would not be true to who I am. "Wilder Shores" is therefore still a Pop album with the same structure of verse, bridge and chorus as my previous records, but it is done with repetitive chanting". 
Wilder Shores is a genre-busting album of eastern and western influences, fusing the worlds of energizing Pop music and elevating Kundalini mantras. The powerhouse voice of Pop superstar Belinda Carlisle soars over these chant tracks with precision and grace. "Wilder Shores" is deeply authentic to the genre of Kirtan, but deftly translated into an ultra-current sound that makes these mantras sound like chart-toppers. For many years, Polish Besatt has given praise to Black Metal and all the hordes related to their dark arts. Their 2015 mini-album (don't consider it as EP, as most of the sites doing, because it's a mistake), "Impia Symphonia", is a completely new face of abomination.
Don’t think that this band hidden a weak record behind a nice cover, what you can find here is a serious exercise of Black Metal very well written, with the guitar production expected for a black metal album, and lyrics in polish. The record is so organic, and it clearly deserves attention.

European re-release of the third full-length album by Argentinean Melodic Symphonic Power Metal band.
The previous Infinity albums featured guests like Tarja Turunen (ex-Nightwish), Candice Night (Blackmore's Night) and Fabio Lione (Rhapsody Of Fire) among others on the first, Antti Railio (Celesty), Aldo Lonobile (Secret Sphere) Sonia Pineault (Forgotten Tales) and more on the second. Now Beto Vazquez is back, featuring a guest list that isn't less impressive than on the previous CDs: Olaf Thorson (Vision Divine), Sandra Schleret (Elis), Marcela Bovio (Stream Of Passion), Eddy Antonini and Kiara (Skylark), Manda Ophuis and H. J. (Nemesea), Pablo G. Soler and a few more should be enough to whet the interest of most Melodic Metal lovers. 
The music style should be fairly obvious. This is of course female-fronted Symphonic Power Metal, reminiscent of a mix of a lot of bands already mentioned in this review. Most of the songs are very mellow and the album has a lot of ballads, still the CD as a whole is very multi-layered.
Production-wise this release is superb. At exactly the right times it feels slightly unpolished and on the parts where it should be, it's as clean as the glasses in every washing powder commercial.
In regards to the list of guest musicians mr. Vazquez could have done something better. It's also unfortunate that a couple of the guests sound very similar, the same thing is true for the three not-guest vocalists the band has. Also some more really powerful songs wouldn't have done the album any bad.
Still "Darkmind" is a very good album. It might not sink in on the very first listen, but after a few spins, especially in quiet and peaceful moments, fans of Melodic Metal should be able to greatly appreciate it!
Re-edition includes two bonus tracks.

Unlike most power metal bands, Betoken is metal that you can relax to. The vocals aren't soaring or extremely flamboyant, but instead they are laid back yet perky and stressed in time, alternating between male and female vocals while the dual guitars work impeccably in time to create crushing rhythms and flowing harmonies. The bass is deep and full, complimenting moderately technical drumming within the swirling aura of sound.
