The fifth full-length studio album by Swedish Alternative Rock/Metalcore band.
It is the first album by the band to not feature former members Richard and Roger Sjunnesson. The album features guest appearance from Björn "Speed" Strid of Soilwork on the track "Before You Finally Break", marking as the first time the band has collaborated with another artist on a studio album. It's also the final album to feature long-time bassist Karin Axelsson.
"Day of the Dead" opens the album with a strong combination of MeloDeath and Metalcore, a la In Flames/Soilwork; an appealing display of heavy, yet melodic riffs and a blistering vocal delivery by Nathan, who now handles both clean and coarse vocals in the band. Richard's iconic screams may no longer be present, but Nathan does not disappoint, with gravitational low-end growls. Contrastingly, his cleans are powerful and anthemic, with songs further down the track list with much more imaginative chorus lyrics to display this. "Black Hole Halo" is one such track. It is a remarkably strong piece that is representative of the band's new-found aggression and focus on riff-orientated music; additionally, the vocals are absolutely stellar, with a catchy chorus that will surely resonate.
"Before you Finally Break" is the album's crowning glory. It is easily one of the heaviest tracks the band has ever written, with a remarkable melding of speed and aggression with compounding grooves. The centerpiece of this track, however, is the inclusion of guest vocalist Bjorn "Speed" Strid of Soilwork, who offers up both clean and coarse vocals. He and Nathan share an incredibly synergy on this track, delivering an intense and emotional chorus together.
"The Flame that Changed the World" is a surprisingly mature track, with a strong and meaningful synthesizer presence, that add a convincing 'Sci-Fi' atmosphere. Retain a strong In Flames influence in the riffs, the chorus is one of the best found on the album.
Sonic Syndicate have put together an excellent album that tries to meld aggression and melody without too much outside modern- trend influences.
This album sees the band pay homage to their roots while looking forward to the future. Sweden-Metal-lovers get their money’s worth with some more brilliant songs by Sonic Syndicate!

Debut full-length solo-album by Canadian Melodic Hard Rock guitarist.
Canadian guitarist Erol Sora has played with former members of Black Sabbath, Foghat, Survivor and Quiet Riot. But he best known as the longtime axeman for ex-Uriah Heep singer John Lawton’s solo band. However, the band was put on hiatus in 2004, and Sora subsequently found the time to put together a solo record of his own. Erol Sora was obviously born in the wrong year because his age looks about 30 while he sounds like that's how many years ago he should've been making music. There is for sure no one out there in this day and age making music of this sound without having been born around 1960.
Erol totally rocks throughout the entire album, kicking it strictly old school. His influences clearly range from Blue Oyster Cult to Led Zeppelin to Bad Company. 
“Demented Honour” is chock-full of hearty, well-written Melodic Rock anthems. Sora himself penned all the songs, played all the guitars, and (gasp!) sung all the vocals. Yes, “Demented Honour” marks Sora’s debut as a lead singer, and boy, does he ever have some decent pipes. He has a very smooth, AOR-ish voice that flows beautifully from melody to melody. As showcased in the John Lawton Band, Sora’s guitar playing isn’t too shabby, either. He plays everything from high-speed Arena Rock to slower blues rhythms on “Demented Honour”, filling out each song with a virtuoso solo.
The production on the album is spot-on. All instruments are audible (and well-played…Sora sought out the top studio musicians in Vancouver for this release) and Sora’s guitar tone is fluid and meaty. Since the majority of the songs on “Demented Honour” are just good ol’ Rock‘n’Roll and not particularly complex, the excellent production certainly helps to the songs sounding professional.
Every song on “Demented Honour” is a winner. It’s incredibly rare for a musician to nail all ten of his songs on a solo album, but Mr. Sora managed it.
His sound pretty much goes through all the classic Rock favorites.
If only Erol had been making music in the 70's or 80's then he would have been selling out arenas. Then they would have slumped in the early 90's and would be doing big reunion tours nowadays.
Recommended for fans of 80s Melodic Rock, Hard Rock or AOR! Really, it’s just a feel-good album!!

The second full-length studio album by Ukrainian Atmospheric Funeral Doom Metal one-man-band.
Max Molodtsov (from Edenian) demonstrates the rapid artistic development on this release of his solo-project. Each composition has its own unique sound and mood enhanced by appearance of guest vocalists, such as Kaivan Saraei (A Dream Of Poe), Daniel Neagoe (Clouds, Eye Of Solitude, Shape Of Despair), Evander Sinque (Who Dies In Siberian Slush, Decay Of Reality, Forbidden Shape), Vladislav Shahin (Mournful Gust, Autumnia), Daniel Arvidsson (Draconian, Mammoth Storm). A guest guitar solo in one of the tracks is performed by Vito Marchese (Novembers Doom, The Kahless Clone).
This is a delightfully depressing affair. Cold winds blow on a frozen landscape of grey as far as the eye can see. What stands out on the album is the varied vocal technique. Most bring a level of pain and anguish that haven’t been felt before, and are the perfect accompaniment to the music. This album will become a great gift for all Doom/Death Metal fans!

Debut album of this young band presents music influenced by old school Doom Metal from Candlemass to early My Dying Bride and Anathema albums.
After release of several tracks at the split album, the musicians carefully crafted the concept of the first full-length work. Moving away from literal copying the classics of the genre, "In The Rainfall" is an example of old school Doom/Death Metal with a modern sound and presentation.
Death Metal is more dominant between these two genres, but the bright accents of Doom do not allow us to forget that this is miserable music, at various points – the title, lyrics, mood, perhaps the nostalgia, because the band was formed in Mexico, but now they reside in Sweden. Also the music maintains composure, the sound of an older Death Metal that is reserved in mainly Latin American countries, is of quite high quality.
A heavy, guitar-based, uncompromising album for fans of primordial Doom Death Metal!

The music is just Death Metal in the vein of early Deicide,
it has a few twist (including clean vocals, similar to such early Doom bands
like Candlemass used) and some cool technical edges.
Overall it's a really good album, every song (excluding that tenth track)
has something great to offer; If you like Death Metal then it's really
recommended to you to buy as soon as possible, it's a very interesting work
from a very interesting band from Mexico.

The second full-length album by the Finnish Melodic Progressive Rock/Metal band.
Radio-friendly Metal is always a tricky thing and when not done properly can sound like the musical equivalent of non-alcoholic beer. "Soul For Sale" is a pretty decent offering plenty of good stompin' tunes like the thumping "Send In The Clowns" or the Faith No More-ish "I See". 
Soulcage performs some interesting blend focusing on melodies, pompous keyboards, and some dark atmosphere creating a veil of emotional infusion but also classic Rock elements baking more straightforward parts. "Soul For Sale" is a very versatile collection of different elements that should feel either like an innovative style of Hard Rock or a jumbled bag of ambitious ideas, depending on your preferences. The best songs here are the ones where the band has reached beyond the “easier-to-digest” mid-tempo Rock song and dared to bring their Prog influences to the forefront. Soulcage has found a more solid mix between the very different worlds of Rock they dabble in here.
This album is – in terms of intensity – quite mild in total; rancid Metalheads should avoid. While, it boasts personality and enough of artistic dignity from a band whose hard work is more than obvious (the production is impressive). Even if all numbers feature some level of complexity in the making, the result sounds quite radio and memory friendly. Mostly for fans of modern Melodic Rock/Metal!

The ninth full-length album by the cult American Thrash/Death/Groove Metal band.
There is a mere difference of eighteen months between Soulfly’s previous album, "Enslaved", and this one. Whilst this may cause many to believe that Cavalera and co. are rushing themselves far too much, it does appear that there have been quite a few changes in the last year or so. For one thing, Cavalera has recruited none other than one of his own sons, Zyon (who drums for Lody Kong), and from the heavy opening grooves of “Bloodshed” you’ll notice his distinctive musical talent straight away. Forget the fact that Cavalera’s one-time legendary band, Sepultura, also have a new album coming out pretty soon, since "Savages" is certainly one of Soulfly’s most accomplished and brutal outputs to date.
With virtually every track living up to the album’s title, Soulfly’s latest very rarely lets up on aggression, brutality and most importantly grooves. Both “Cannibal Holocaust” and “Fallen” are so consistently heavy that you may need to check your stereo for excessive damage, and the ludicrously named “Ayatollah of Rock ‘n’ Rolla” (Featuring none other than Clutch frontman Neil Fallon) breeds contempt with every passing minute. The former songs hark back to Sepultura’s glory days, short but sweet bursts of Thrash Metal grinding along to Cavalera’s monstrous roars, the latter a slower burning, more restrained eye-opener, making way for a style of distinctive heaviness and pummelling Groove. Zyon shows off his chops at many intervals throughout "Savages", particularly on the semi title track “Master of savagery”, which bursts into acts of aural violence, and most prominently on the more tribal influenced “El Comegente”, sung entirely in Portugese and would certainly be the perfect musical accompaniment to a tour through the darkest, most “savage” ridden areas of the natural world.
The instrumentation on "Savages" is, as always with Soulfly, very prominent. Guitar work focuses sometimes on heaviness and groove, as on “Spiral” and “This is Violence”, other times on slower, more forceful sounds (“Master of Savagery” will have your head banging slowly but surely) but most of the time keeping up with Zyon’s fairly straightforward albeit well-executed drum rhythms, and thus the whole thing sounds ideal for a fan of Soulfly’s previous three albums.
Various guest vocalists have been recruited, most interestingly Mitch Harris of Napalm Death, whose gut-wrenching screams always prove divisive amongst fans of Extreme Metal and his vocal style fused with Cavalera on an otherwise simplistic “K.C.S.” gives rather mixed results. Neil Fallon of Clutch proves a more pleasant surprise. For one thing his calm, narrative approach to the beginning of “Ayatollah of Rock’ n’ Rolla” gives "Savages" quite an interesting twist, yet later on in the track he really brings out the rawer side of his own vocal style, sounding at times like his throat has been cut with the sharpest shards of glass.
All this is probably nothing new to a fan of Soulfly, given that the band have been trying to become heavier and Groovier with each consecutive release, but you could do a lot, lot worse than be introduced to Max Cavalera’s work via the savagery of "Savages". There isn't any disappointment here. This is simply another solid output from Soulfly’s, and indeed Cavalera’s, collaborative musical talent, and the replay value here is quite a lot to say the least. "Savages" is a beast, and perhaps one of the better releases of late 2013!!

The fourth full-length album by international Progressive/Dark Metal band.
The new line-up includes musicians from Russia, Italy, UK, USA and Denmark. The songs of the new album are inspired by the metaphysical, cosmological and occult concepts developed by H.P. Lovecraft in his stories. The music combines elements from heavy and melodic Space Rock to Epic/Prog Metal. It has more focus on delivering fine crafted tunes but not forgetting initial Space Rock fundament.
Many great guitar and synth solos on presents on an album. This time Massimo Arke (Opposite Sides, Hortus Animae) and Fabio Bartolini (Hortus Animae, Hate Profile) joined the album line-up to record most of the guitars. Sparky Simmons (Acid FM) joined the ranks of Space Mirrors as new guitarist after he recorded his powerful guitars for "Rue d'Auseil is Missing" instrumental track. Martyr Lucifer (Hortus Animae) sings all songs concentrating more on clean vocals this time.
Band also got on this record: John Pack and Allen Welty-Green from Spaceseed play guitars and synths accordingly on several tracks, Alan Davey (of Hawkwind and Gunslinger fame) recording a powerful bass for 4 parts of the main epic song-suite, Nik Turner providing fabulous flute and sax again, Cyndee Lee Rule recording violin, Bjorn Jeppesen (Nattefrost) played synth solos in one song...etc.

The fifth full-length album by international Progressive/Dark Metal band.
The new Space Mirrors album is the second in the "Cosmic Horror" series inspired by the stories of H.P. Lovecraft.
It is a wonderful blend of dynamic Space Rock, Prog Metal and Classic Hard Rock with influences not only from Hawkwind but also Blue Öyster Cult, Eloy and Black Sabbath!
"The Other Gods" shows a further development in terms of sound and musicians' line-up with the recruitment of Claudio Tirincanti (Blaze Bayley, Tim "Ripper" Owens, etc.) to play all drums and Gabriel Monticello (Spaceseed, Albany Symphony Orchestra, etc.) to play bass on all songs. Sparky Simmons (Acid FM) recorded most of the guitars and Fabio Bartolini (Hate Profile) played guitars on one song. Martyr Lucifer delivered his best vocals’ performance to date. Bless (Hortus Animae) recorded some wonderful piano. Cyndee Lee Rule provided a violin string section and Dr. James Hodkinson (Shadowlight, Pre-Med) played mellotron and moog. The legendary Nik Turner (Hawkwind’s co-founder, Space Ritual, etc.) once more recorded sax and flute. Everything was done under the coordination of keyboardist Alisa Coral, the creator of Space Mirrors.
Space Mirrors again confirmed its international status by having in its ranks musicians from Italy, USA, UK and Russia.
Successfully mix of Progressive Space Rock with classic Hard Rock in a modern suit here. Very strong rhythm section with the same musicians playing on all the songs this time. Every musician gave it all to the recording and Martyr Lucifer really shows the great range of his voice. There is no programming and no triggered drums. Just old school real drumming, heavy riffs, hot leads, sax, flute, symphonic keyboards, spacey synth and vocals - all combined very nicely on this album!
