The debut full-length studio album by legendary American Pop singer.
Carlisle began work on the album in 1985 following the breakup of the well-known Punk/New Wave band Go-Go's, for whom she was the lead singer. Some songs on "Belinda" were written by Carlisle's former bandmates in the Go-Go's, Charlotte Caffey and Paula Jean Brown, while the rest of the tracks were written by other songwriters, such as the Bangles' Susanna Hoffs. Carlisle has a single co-writing credit on one track,"Gotta Get to You". "Band of Gold" was a hit song for Freda Payne in 1970, which Carlisle covered for this album. Although Payne herself does not appear on the album version of the track, John Luongo overdubbed and remixed the track for a single release, which included prominent backing vocals by Payne. The 7" Single was only issued in Canada (where it hit No. 91 on the charts), but Payne's vocals were also heard on the dance mixes of Carlisle's version of the song, which were issued on a 12" Single in the US. The various "Band of Gold" remixes would later appear as bonus tracks on the 2003 re-release of the album. "I Need a Disguise" was written by the team of Tom Kelly and Billy Steinberg, who co-wrote the song with Susanna Hoffs, as it was originally intended for use by the Bangles. Kelly and Steinberg also co-wrote another song for Carlisle called "Dancing in the City", which she would eventually record and would later appear on the soundtrack for the 1987 movie "Burglar". "Stuff and Nonsense" is a cover of Tim Finn's song, originally performed by his band Split Enz on their 1979 album "Frenzy". The song "Shot in the Dark" appeared on the soundtrack for the film "Out of Bounds" (1986).
The album was supported by four Singles, with lead single "Mad About You", peaking at number 3 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and No. 1 in Canada. The album was successful in North America, peaking at No. 13 on the Billboard 200 and at number 24 on the Canadian Albums chart. It was moderately successful in Australia, where it peaked at number 42 and charted for 12 weeks. Belinda was certified Gold in the US and Platinum in Canada, selling over one million copies worldwide.

The third Single from the second full-length studio album, “Heaven On Earth”, by legendary American Pop singer.
Released in May 1988, it reached number seven, becoming Carlisle's fourth and last Top-10 Hit in the United States. It also charted at number five in Canada, ending the year as the country's 69th-most-successful Single.
"Circle in the Sand" was written by Rick Nowels and Ellen Shipley, who wrote many of Carlisle's Hit Singles in the late 1980s and into the early 1990s, including her signature song "Heaven Is a Place on Earth". The first known appearance of the song in progress is from the "Lost Heaven Demos" bootleg, which features a solid drum beat, lead keyboard line and simple bass with no guitars present, and completed lyrics. The final album version of the song features a unique lead keyboard theme provided by Thomas Dolby, combined with a thumping bass-line and accentuated with swirling and shimmering guitar, including some played in reverse during the bridge.
The music video, directed by Peter Care in Half Moon Bay, California, uses the Single Edit Version of the song and was released by MCA Records in March 1988.

Belinda's massively successful sophomoric second solo album, and her international breakthrough after leaving The Go-Go's.
Three Singles of the album reached the top 10 of the US Billboard Hot 100, including the signature song "Heaven Is a Place on Earth". The first Single released, "Heaven Is A Place On Earth", reached the number one position throughout the world. The second Single released, "I Get Weak", reached number two spot in the U.S. and garnered a top 10 placing in Canada and the U.K. The third Single, "Circle In The Sand", reached the top 10 in many countries, among them U.K. (#4), U.S. (#7) and Canada (#5). From the fourth Single on, the Singles released from the album varied in different territories. The Cream cover "I Feel Free" was released only in the U.S., reaching #88 on the Billboard Hot 100. This was the final U.S. Single from the album. In Europe, "World Without You" (another Diane Warren song) was released, where it reached the top 40. A fifth and final Single in the U.K. was the ballad "Love Never Dies" which reached number #54.
Among the songs Carlisle recorded, but did not include on the album, are "Waiting for a Star to Fall" and "Some Hearts", which would become big hits for Boy Meets Girl and Carrie Underwood, respectively.
The album has been certified triple Platinum in the United Kingdom and Platinum in many countries, including the United States.

"Leave a Light On" proved to be a major success for Carlisle more internationally than in America. It reached top five status in countries like Australia, Austria, Ireland, and the United Kingdom, but barely missed the top ten in the United States, peaking at number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 12 on the Cash Box Top 100 Singles charts. The fourth full-length studio album by legendary American Rock/Pop singer.
Carlisle added a bit of dance flavour to her signature Pop/Rock styling on this album. Numbers like the catchy "Do You Feel Like I Feel" and the harder-edged "I Plead Insanity" are dancefloor-ready, yet still contain the robust vocal delivery and sweeping guitar riffs necessary to please long-time fans. And the timeless melody of "Half the World" is the kind that made earlier hits like "Heaven Is a Place on Earth" and "Circle in the Sand" mainstays on radio long after their chart runs. The elegant arrangement of "Half the World", which includes Spanish guitars, mandolin and oboe, gives the song a universal appeal, whilst "Emotional Highway" has a slight Middle Eastern feel via Carlisle's sullen vocal and the moody surf guitars. "Live Your Life Be Free" shows the singer to be capable in a variety of musical contexts, and is a pleasing listen throughout.
Despite this, this is the first of Carlisle's albums not to chart in the United States and the last album of hers to produce a U.S. Billboard Hot 100 Single ("Do You Feel Like I Feel?", number 73). The first Single release outside the United States was the album title track, which peaked at No. 11 in Italy, No. 12 in the UK, No. 16 in Sweden and No. 13 in Australia. The album sold better outside the U.S. and managed to enter the top 10 in the UK (exactly at number 7), where it was certified Gold. Outside the UK, the album charted No. 21 in Sweden for 10 weeks and No. 27 in Australia.

The third full-length studio album by legendary American Rock/Pop singer.
Carlisle's last album to chart in the United States. The album contains an array of guest artists, including George Harrison and Bryan Adams.
After the great success of "Heaven on Earth", Belinda Carlisle released her third solo album, which included even more radio hits. While it'e easy to hear three songs from "Heaven On Earth" while listening to radio, "Runaway Horses" carried four big radio hits.
"Leave A Light On" has an amazing melody, Belinda's beautiful voice, great breathtaking lyrics and also George Harrison's guitar solo. It has stayed a live stable for all of these years.
"La Luna" is a Spanish-type song. This is one of those few songs ever written with a couplet better than the chorus is. Although the chorus is catchy and beautiful, and the couplet brings Belinda's voice into another dimension.
"Summer Rain" is a song with a very long chorus and definitely has been a live favourite through the years. The melody is pure gold.
"We Want the Same Thing" was not a hit with the album version, but the remix did it. The album version is Poppier than the remix but still very good.
"Vision of You" is a slow song. It is a great song, although not one of favourites from this album.
"Runaway Horses" is a perfect Pop song and one of her most underrated songs. The story of the song is fascinating.
"Shades of Michaelangelo" is one of the greatest songs of the album. It was overlooked because there are many other good songs too. It is one of the greatest songs Belinda has ever been writing. Just like "Love Never Dies" on "Heaven On Earth", "Shades of Michaelangelo" is a beautiful and perfect album closer.
There are many good songs we often forget while discussing this album. "Whatever It Takes" has a guest vocal of Bryan Adams, an amazing song too. "Deep Deep Ocean" is a beautiful and relaxing song. The quality of the songs is very high. Without a doubt, this is one of the best Pop albums of the 80s!
The album spent a total of 25 weeks on the Billboard 200 and certified Gold by the RIAA. It reached number four in the United Kingdom and was certified Platinum. The album was also a success in Australia; it peaked at number six and certified double Platinum, becoming the 24th best-selling album of 1990.

The second full-length studio album by legendary Scottish Rock band.
Big Country came out of one of the less dominant parts of the United Kingdom with an anthemic sound and vaguely revolutionary-sounding lyrics to captivate the British listening public and at least interest Americans. Big Country continued their winning ways at home with this, its second album, which topped the charts and produced three Top 40 hits: "East of Eden", "Where the Rose is Sown", and "Just a Shadow". But in the U.S., the album was perceived as proving that the band's sound, guitars-as-bagpipes, courtesy of the E-Bow, was a one-time novelty, while Stuart Adamson's lyrics, full of British socialist working-class fervour, seemed jingoistic and pretentious. Nevertheless, much of the music, as on the first album, made for stirring Rock & Roll.
Clanging and crackling with energy, this album from Big Country rings natural evolutionary changes on the band's stirring twin-guitar sound even as it frames still better news: bandleader Stuart Adamson has rapidly matured into a songwriter capable of bringing meticulous craft to his obvious passion.
"Steeltown" is the band's only UK number 1 album, topping the chart for 1 week in October 1984. "East of Eden" was the only Top 20 Single from the album, reaching number 17 in the UK Singles Chart.
