It is the band's first album without founding member Dave Brockie, who portrayed Oderus Urungus, due to his heroin overdose death on March 23, 2014. The album is also the first to feature Michael Bishop since 1999's "We Kill Everything", portraying the newest character, lead singer Blöthar the Berserker, as opposed to his role as the original Beefcake the Mighty. It was the band's last album to be released through Metal Blade.

Debut full-length album by Italian Thrash Metal band.
It almost feels like it was 1980's again, as Italian Thrashers H.O.S. (short for Harvester Of Sorrow) fire their first full-length load of bullets! Prior to the debut album, the band have released a couple of demos and seem to have been quite active in the live circuit in their homeland.
"The Beginning" includes ten songs (one being a intro) of old school Thrash Metal. Basically, H.O.S.'s one foot is firmly placed in the USA. Atrophy, Forbidden and Heathen are just a few names coming to mind when listening to this one, but certainly not Metallica, as the band's name might suggest. H.O.S. have a more rocking side too them, like "Road Madness" shows, even though the song is pure Thrash Metal anyways. However, Crossover is something their Thrash is devoid of. Kreator are a huge influence to these Italians. Some guitar soloing and riff writing is close to late 1980's/early 1990's Kreator. Generally, it comes as no surprise, that H.O.S. aren't quite as angry-sounding or jaw-dropping as those legendary bands. However, H.O.S. have still managed to pen some tasty riffage and songs, even though it's all surely more or less recycled. There's evil atmosphere in some of the songs, there are some fast blasters, and balls to the wall anger throughout the platter, so it won't get too boring.
If the music is an all right duplicate of the 80's Thrash Metal, also soundwise this is quite "back in the day". The band sound pretty tight, and that's because they have played quite a lot of live shows. The vocalist Dado's (also rhythm guitar) evil voice reminds a lot of Kreator's Mille Petrozza, especially "Coma of Souls" (1990) times. However, he utilizes snarling much further than Mille. The vocals are totally love or hate affair. He sounds like a man who has been drinking too much radioactive water.
This is a good attempt in old school Thrash for sure. It does not reach the heights of legendary albums, but that's almost the unbreakable law nowadays! So if you want some Mille-ish vocals on good enough songs, why not give it a try!!

The second full-length album by the solo project of Judas Priest frontman, legendary British singer Rob Halford.
Rob Halford returned to the classic Heavy Metal style that he helped make famous on the focused "Resurrection", an album that garnered critical acclaim for its spectacular Metal focus. On the follow-up to this monumental release he continues down the same path, as his assembled backing band is quite possibly one of the best on the scene in the early '00s, and his vocals are as focused and exceptional as they have ever been.

The ninth full-length studio album by legendary Swedish Heavy/Power Metal band.
After taking a creative break last year, Swedish Metallers HammeFfall are fully recharged and back with a vengeance. With "(r)Evolution", band takes things back to the roots in many ways, as the band once again worked with producer Fredrik Nordström, who helmed HammerFall's two milestone releases "Glory To The Brave" and "Legacy Of Kings" during the group's early years and thus played a major part in the development of HammerFall.
The music for "(r)Evolution" was recorded in March and April at guitarist Oscar Dronjak's Castle Black Studios. Singer Joacim Cans then went to the United States for vocal recordings, once again working with James Michael (Scorpions, Motley Crüe), who previously collaborated with HammerFall on "Infected". The album was mixed and mastered by Fredrik Nordström and Henrik Udd at Studio Fredman.
"(r)Evolution" represents yet another reunion of sorts for the band, who hired cover artist Andreas Marschall, the "father" of HammerFall's mascot Hector, to design the artwork for the new CD.
“(r)Evolution” is an uprising of old and represents a reset for the band that would stylistically fall somewhere between “Legacy Of Kings” and “Crimson Thunder”. The material is refreshed and catchy without being overdone and drab. The band’s decision to stick to what it is good at and what made the band famous was a sound decision. Of course, there will be certain fans of HammerFall that will never be satisfied unless a time machine is built to transport their physical beings to catch up with the late 90’s mentality. This album is a masterpiece of Power Metal, there is not much more to be said other than.
This album is the prototype of knighthood themed Power Metal. Hammerfall took the formulas of Savage Grace, Omen and Warlord, included a user-friendly softness without compromising with their artistic integrity. Everything is in place. The riffs are clean as white sheets, easy as spring winds, fast as adolescent fantasies and hyper melodic without being cheap or superficial. They don't surprise you with creative nuance, they ignite you with love for a long tested and admired way of getting the most out of simple Heavy Metal chords. Accessibility was not the goal of the composition, just the result, and this makes all the difference in the world. Every line and melody is heartfelt, every twist and turn matters in the context of greater things. Although the eighties shine through every pore of this album, it still sounds fresh, vital, new and exciting.

Australian Thrashers Harlott putting a modern twist on staying true to the classic sound of Testament and Kreator and, in classic Slayer fashion, have managed to fire off an album containing a wide array of tracks that all sound different, yet keep coherence as an album.
"Origin" is a collection of new songs mixed with re-recordings of old demos. In other words, a valuable registry yielded from years and years on the Underground road – and that’s where the best stuff was made! As Dee Snider once said: "writing angry songs after you are successful, and have a house and a sports car in the driveway, is hard…". Musically, especially on the torpedoes "Heretic" and "Effortless Struggle", this band sounds like they have an angrier Steve ‘Zetro’ Souza singing over a relentless Thrash of Kreator brutality. The drums are so fast and precise that they sound like they were played by a robot… but there is a drummer called Dan, and he looks like a human… just listen to "Infernal Massacre" and you will see!
Opener "Origin" has an exceedingly powerful intro with windmill-inducing riff work that switches up between chaotic thrashings, and deadly, Iced Earth-esque passages, with equally-powerful screams. "Ballistic" is a much shorter track that manages to cram in many more musical ideas than the predecessor; at only just over 2 minutes long, it presents us with what feels (literally) the fastest drumming and guitar work on the record. To complement the expert musicianship, vicious guitar solos are spewed forth. "Export Life" deserves particular attention; not just because of the tight, intellectual (in Thrash Metal?!) songwriting and the thoughtful attention paid to chord and melody progressions, but the uncharacteristically elegant guitar solo. It begins, flies through and ends with an incredibly powerful Euro-Metal sound, which one would find in almost all Gothernberg Melodic Death bands. The final track, "Not Long for this World" stood out as absolute favorite, alternating between aggression-fuelled riffs and more organized, groove-ridden passages with many catchy, melodic fills. Andy demonstrates his best vocal ability here, able to balance a powerful, Heavy Metal approach, with raucous Thrash vocals, and deeper timbres that shift deliciously close to Death Metal.
"Origin" is a modern Thrash masterpiece which will most definitely slither its way into regular listening; right up there with Invocator and Toxic Holocaust. This is a solid effort that shows that all the years on the road paid off. This band has nowhere else to go but up!!!

Re-release of the second full-length studio album by cult Brazilian Heavy Metal band.
Hailing from São Paulo, Brazil, band was emerged in 1982 with the name of Milky Way. With the line-up renewed, Harppia entered studio in 1985 to record their debut mini-album, "A Ferro E Fogo" (The Iron And Fire), which was released by Baratos Afins.
In the following years, each of the members decided to take different routes, since each one wanted to change the musical style of the band. Only Tiberius remained and continued with Harppia.
In 1987, the debut full-length album, "7", was released by Rock Brigade Records.
In 1996, in a new line-up, band started recording a second album, this time with English lyrics. "Harppia's Flight" was released by Megahard Records in 1997. It includes 7 new tracks + 6 instrumental bonus tracks. This re-release contains the same material with 3 more added bonus tracks.
Tracks 08-13 were recorded at Nota Por Nota Studio, Sao Paulo, Brazil, between 1995-1996.
Tracks 14-15: TV Cultura advertising in 1987.

The fourth full-length album by the German Melodic Hard Rock/AOR band.
The Hartmann records are full of tasty but quite slow paced AOR or even Classic Rock songs, very different from our every day galloping Epic Power Metal or Neo-Classic Metal. For the fourth album, it's once again the same case, but the voice of Hartmannis also much more in the forefront and he sounds more powerful than in the previous CDs, much more like his Genius or Eempty Tremors (Oliver Hartmann's past bands) days. Anyway, the third album was disappointing; this "Balance" is his best solo album. The title fits quite well with the musical concept. Indeed well balanced. The band Hartmann plays like a real band, and the chemistry-team here isn’t fake, the sincerity is obvious and pretty clear as the sound of this album is organic and spontaneous. The production and the mix are in the same juicy manner with a full spectrum, thanks to Sascha Paeth’s magic.
The very Zen and confined ambiance of numbers like “From a Star” or “Fall From Grace” is opposed to some more hot rocking tracks but still with a feeling of maturity and an absolute melodic control sensation.
Best tracks are "Like A River", "Fool for You", "After the Love Has Gone" or "Save Me". Others great songs: "You Are the One", "The Best Is Yet To Come" or "All My Life" that are more direct but still entertaining.
The word AOR could divert some, but here you can read Adult Oriented Rock with a big "A", no cheesy chorus with cheap bontempi keyboards in calibrated 3 minutes tracks, but a real Classic Melodic Hard Rock in the best way of the word, with some contemporary touch.

Second full-length album by the German Hard Rock guitarist/vocalist Oliver Hartmann.
German rock singer Oliver Hartmann delivered one of the surprise packages of 2005, with a thoroughly enjoyable album of powerful and emotional Melodic Hard Rock.
"Home" and it's another great Hard Rocking collection of music showcasing his emotional and powerful vocal style. Delivered with a passion and raw emotional edge, band still manages to be very consistent and of unquestionably high standards. The album sounds awesome with great performances by everyone especially the rocking guitars and solos. The production is excellent and sounds huge coming out of a good set of speakers. Hartmann's voice is very smooth yet dramatic and is very similar in tone to Eric Martin from Mr Big.
Highlights include the melodic rocker "Coming Home To You", the heavy and groovy "Higher Than Me" with a killer guitar solo, the chorus hook of the epic ballad "I Don't Want To Know", and the heartfelt sentiment of "My Everything" which is a very memorable power ballad.
"Home" is another strong release from Hartmann. It was always going to be hard to match the sensational debut, especially when so much emotion was poured into that. But this comes close. It isn't helped by a questionable song running order, but the consistency in songwriting and strong performances still make it an album very worth checking out!!

The second full-length album by Italian Technical Death Metal band.
The architects of this new temple of Death Metal, "Epilogue Of Masquerade", used the correct formulas to build something that will stand the strongest earthquakes. This trio have a 16-year experience with in the pocket, a demo and an album called "Coils Of The Consumed Paradise", released in 2010.
Hateful plays Technical Death Metal without going into the hyper-mode. It’s keeping it relatively restrained, about the music, focusing on the thorough execution of every section than just overdoing everything. The riffs are fleshed out, and it takes more than a few listens to fully get them – it’s quite intricate and the song structures are bizarre because it’s not in the conventional format. It mixes up things quite a bit and it’s like piles of riffs buried over each other, pummeling pulsating drumming decorates the mess and the vocals are restrained yet again, keeping it straightforward.
This is an album for listeners, although first appearances aren’t unimpressive either. Production-wise everything is clear and strong, robust and the artwork is fairly striking in its elegance.
With a Brutal and Technical trend at the same time, "Epilogue Of Masquerade" deserves your attention and accolades because it’s doing it in the classiest way possible!!

Remastered re-release of the second full-length studio album by cult German Power/Thrash Metal band.
Headhunter were founded by Schmier in 1989, after he was fired from Destruction. Second famous person in the band is Jörg Michael (Living Death, ex-Avenger, ex-Axel Rudi Pell, ex-Grave Digger, ex-Mekong Delta, ex-Onkel Tom Angelripper, ex-Rage, ex-Running Wild, ex-Saxon, ex-Stratovarius). And the third musician is Uwe "Schmuddel" Hoffmann.
"A Bizarre Gardening Accident" is a damn fine technically infuriating, fast Thrash Metal album, that continues to expand the work begun with the debut, "Parody Of Life". The band offers explosive, melodic Thrash in the vein of Destruction, with a dozen or so riffs to die for. But what surprised is that the band are also quite good at slower fare, with a more Traditional Metal gate.
It's amazing to think that while his alma mater, Destruction, was withering into a cesspool of misled ideas and pathetic execution, Schmier was excelling in his new home. However, we should also extend credit to the other musicians here, who are quite excellent on their own. Michael needs no introduction, perhaps, but Schmuddel is simply an ace, a riff wizard whose presence lightens each composition into the rugged bliss so enjoyable in German Thrash and Speed Metal.
