The eleventh full-length studio album by the legendary British Heavy Metal band.
It was the second and final Iron Maiden album recorded with vocalist Blaze Bayley.
In 1993, Iron Maiden and their popular vocalist, Bruce Dickinson, parted ways. Not going to be stopped by the loss of their 11 year singer, the band began the search for their new front man. They auditioned hundreds of vocalists including Doogie White, who at the time was in Rainbow, and even James LaBrie, of Dream Theater fame. Finally, in 1994, Iron Maiden decided that Wolfsbane singer, Blaze Bailey, would be their next vocalist. After Blaze was brought on board, the band began writing new material for their next album, and in 1995 was released "The X Factor". The album was met with a mixed reaction from fans, but the band soldiered on and entered the studio in 1998 to record their eleventh album, "Virtual XI".
"Virtual XI" met the same fate as "The X Factor". It was even more unpopular among fans than its predecessor, and it suffered in sales, and is to this very day, the only Maiden album to not hit the 1 million mark. As of April 2009 "Virtual XI" had sold 84987 copies in the United States and more than 1050000 worldwide according to Billboard, making the album the poorest selling of the band's career.
The album is slightly unusual in the Iron Maiden catalogue for its extensive keyboard use. For this album, some keyboard parts were performed by band founder/bassist Steve Harris whereas on previous albums all the keyboard parts were handled by session musician Michael Kenney. The album also had a reduced song-writing input from Janick Gers compared to the previous Iron Maiden albums since he joined the band in 1990.
"Virtual XI" was the end of another era for Iron Maiden. Following the Virtual XI World Tour, Blaze Bailey left Iron Maiden and two former members, Bruce Dickinson and Adrian Smith returned. Overall, "Virtual XI" is a very long album to listen to, despite being only 53 minutes long. The album is very repetitive, and listening to it takes a lot of patience. However, it has a few gems, such as "Futureal", "The Clansman", and "Como Estais Amigos". With a little more variety, it could have been something special!

First re-release of the fourteenth single by the legendary British Heavy Metal band.
It's the first single for the band's sixth full-length studio album, "Somewhere In Time" (1986). It was the first single solely written by guitarist Adrian Smith, who also sings backing vocals. Wasted Years" is the only song on the album that features no synthesizers.
The song deals with subject of homesickness and alienation, as well as the negative aspects of the band's nearly yearlong previous tour and personal problems that Smith and other band members were going through in that period. At the same time the chorus suggests the idea that one should move beyond past troubles and look forward. The original working title was "Golden Years", as can be heard on numerous "Somewhere On Tour" bootlegs. The song is composed in the key of E minor. Adrian Smith plays the guitar solo. The guitar line here is probably one of the most memorable in the realm of Metal, and is sort of a rite of passage for any lead guitar player who wishes to tear it up with a band in the Metal genre. The chorus is very easy to sing along to and is a regular favorite at live performances.
The b-side "Reach Out" was sung by Adrian Smith, with regular lead singer Bruce Dickinson providing backing vocals. This song was previously performed live by Nicko McBrain and Smith's side project The Entire Population Of Hackney. This track is another rare treat. Smith does an excellent job on the vocals, but his strength on this one is his catchy guitar riffs. This song has a solo that is so idiomatic that you could easily hum the tune along with it, something that Metal guitar solos are not often famous for. This single is probably a bit hard to come by at this point, but if you can find it - it's recommend it highly! It's a great song from Maiden's greatest album, and a pair of tracks that will make you smile and make you laugh, something that Metal is allowed to do to people, despite what the no-fun elitists of the darker scene.
“Wasted Years” reached number 18 in the UK Singles Charts and it’s one of those singles you just have to own when you’re into Maiden!!

Second single from the German Speed/Power Metal band.
This single for upcoming "Dark Assault" album features two exclusive b-sides and re-working of two songs. The Iron Savior songs "I've Been To Hell" and "Never Say Die" feature the already traditional band-style: powerful, fast, with Piet Sielck's characteristic voice. Single version of song "I've Been to Hell" misses some lyrics parts (before solo), Edit version of song "Never Say Die" misses intro part. Both songs have slightly different mix than on album "Dark Assault".
The two cover-versions are good ones, too, Judas Priest's "The Hellion - Electric Eye" and Krokus' "Headhunter" (where bassist Jan-S. Eckert has taken over a good part of the vocals).

Debut EP by Chilean Heavy/Speed Metal band.
Chile just won't stop delivering the goods with class, passion and a good dose of South Arerican magic. Iron Spell play high quality old school Heavy Metal. The release sounds great, and you're not missing out on any of the instruments, nothing is drowned out. The vocals are not really distinctive, but they're not bad either as they fit the music. Sometimes there's a backing vocal with a higher pitched vocal, but whether that is the voice of lead singer.
This is a really solid piece of material, and it will probably pave way for the band! If you like traditional Heavy Metal, then you gotta check out Iron Spell, and keep your eyes on them in the future, it definitely smells like something big is cooking in Chile!!
Essential for fans of: Accept, Iron Maiden and Judas priest!!!

Debut full-length album by Spanish Pagan Black Metal band.
Raw and melodic Viking Black Metal from Barcelona. Very cool, Melodic Black Metal, which evokes images of cold lands and long journeys. The production of this record is the thing that makes it. It has a rawness to it, most noticeable on tracks such as "Chaotic Chasm", whilst having a much more polished production, which means it, will be more accessible to those outside of the Black Metal Underground. For a first release, this is very good. It's clear that this band have already begun to establish their own sound within the Black Metal scene, and in all seriousness, it is a great sound. This will appeal to fans of Black Metal, in both its raw and more accessible forms, and it may even garner attention from those outside the Black Metal scene to some extent. The framework for a list of solid releases is there, and with any luck, the next album will be even better than this one.

The second full-length studio album by Croatian guitarist-virtuoso and his band.
One of the best young guitarists in Croatia, Ivan "Miha" Mihaljević was born in Zagreb in 1986. So far he's first and foremost known for his association with Hard Rock band Hard Time, where he's been an associated member for a number of years - which amongst many highlights lead to Mihaljevic getting to play at the Wacken Open Air festival in 2005. Late in 2006 he became a full member of the band.
His reputation as a talented musician grew quickly and early on in his career he opened for Paul Gilbert on one of his European tours, and has played on stage with the legendary Les Paul at the Iridium Jazz Club in New York City.
Mihaljevic also spreads his music talents widely by collaborating with other artists and running his own solo project, Side Effects. If you are a fan of Guitar Rock and are looking for the “next big thing” you should seriously check out Ivan Mihaljevic & Side Effects. In 2008 he started contemplating releasing solo material, and his solo debut "Sandcastle" was issued in August 2008. "Destination Unknown", that was released in 2010, is the next step in solo career of musician. Hailing from Croatia, Mihaljevic is well respected by his music peers but still not well known outside his country. "Destination Unknown" may be the first step in bring Mihaljevic’s music to the masses.
On "Destination Unknown", Ivan Mihaljevic displays a vast guitar repertoire from Classical to Metal and parades influences from Satriani to Malmsteen. Once can find no flaw in his playing, which is always passionate and enthusiastic whether laying down heavy riffs or delicate acoustic pieces. Ivan also has a deft touch with the keyboards, using them effectively and sparingly. He also sings lead vocals and does a fine job. His has a versatile voice and the makings of a solid front man. His songwriting skills are evident, but despite his massive presence the listener gets the sense that this is a “band” album, not a solo effort. Both bassist Majkl Jagunic and drummer Alen Frljak are key to the music, working well together as a rhythm section and stepping to the front when the music calls for it. This trio is definitely talented.
“Instant Star (Add Water)” opens the album on a guitar driven high, presenting a tongue-in-cheek view on the state of the modern music”. Great vocals, intense bass and drums and a brilliant guitar solo make this one a real butt-kicker. An immediate gear and tone change hits you with “The Curse” – a mellow acoustic Rock track with soft and clear vocals, good lyrics and a great bass line that builds to a heavier second half. Paul Gilbert / Steve Vai guitars open up the mostly instrumental and somewhat goofy “Choosh Pies” – the band seems to really be having fun on this track. Expressive vocals and heartfelt emotionalism fill what could be a “green” anthem in “Post-Apocalyptic Images”. Amazing guitars fill the massive instrumental “Dreamscapes” and prove Mihaljevic to be a “guitar god” in the making. Ivan sounds very much like Zak Stevens on the Savatage-TSO sounding “Shadows”, a simple guitar and vocal driven song. “The Pirate Song” opens the second half of the album and has a very Progressive Metal feel to it, as well as a massive dose of Satriani. This track gives Majkl Jagunic and Alen Frljak a real chance to shine as they provide a very bouncy and upbeat rhythm line to a drive a fine instrumental. The amount of talent and spirit of the performances easily makes up for any shortcomings. A long instrumental opening powers “Sorry Pt. 1”. This track is filled with very expressive guitars and bass, and features a few interesting tempo changes. Good old school vibes (and a healthy portion of Hammond organ) propel the Hard Rocking “Your Plane Flew Away” into Hard Rock bliss of the early 80s. Guest vocalist Marko Osmanovic sounds very much like a young Ian Gillan further adding to the old school sound. A beautiful and soft passage followed by only a handful of words comprises the elegiac “Sorry Pt. II”. The simplicity and grace of this short song may even bring a tear to the eye. The album wraps with the truly awe-inspiring and stirringly powerful “Hollow Wish”. This final track really displays Mihaljevic’s vocal and song writing ability, and features some of the finest guitar work on the album.
If you like melodic guitar driven Rock, do not miss this album! Ivan Mihaljevic will be a force on the Rock scene for many years to come. Despite many obvious influences of the greats, Mihaljevic manages to make music that is new, fresh and unique – and delivers it all with with technical excellence. With a little luck, he may become a household name well beyond his native Croatia. Very highly recommended!!

The third full-length studio album by Australian Funeral Doom/Death Metal band.
This is the first band's album officially released on a CD.
Two songs that are 48 minutes in length, longer than 20 minutes each, are filled to the brim with heavy guitar riffs and the sounds of a dreary piano, framed by a solo violin, which makes Ivan's music so special and unique. This is a sound of a funeral orchestra playing on the edge of a dug grave, where the withered autumn leaves fall.
However sad and depressing songs are, the melodies are intricate and beautiful, mimicking a classical approach to composition. They have depth, and within this depth are many melodies playing at once, but each one compliments the other. There’s piano and violin, which aren’t limited to specific sections. They play throughout the entire album with the guitars, bass, and drums. This is what really layers the music so much and makes it sound classical. Just because it's classical sounding, doesn’t mean that it’s Neoclassical. It’s not fast or shredding at all. It’s mid-paced, Doom-laden Death Metal, and it gets the job done. The overall atmosphere of the music is very depressing, but serene at the same time. 
A must-have for fans of classical Atmospheric Doom/Death Metal!

The tenth full-length album by the cult American Heavy/Power Metal band.
Jag Panzer troops, stand at attention! 7 years in darkness from this venerable American band of soldiers eventually led into the light with the release of "The Scourge Of The Light". Jag Panzer were one of the great American bands from the 80s with their classic "Ample Destruction", still, after all these years, being just about one of ours favorite Metal albums. And now...they're on the upsurge, again.
This is just a really solid album. Harry Conklin sounds good, singing at a midrange with some serious vitriol pumped into him. Mark Briody and Chris Lasegue on guitars are the real stars here, with their seemingly endless barrage of Maidenesque riffs, winding, multi-faceted solos and blazing leads. The drums from Rikard Stjernquist are militaristic and powerful – just like Jag Panzer's always should be. That was always one of the strongest points of the band; those pumping, marching drum beats that sounded like a thousand soldiers right outside your door. This effect is in full use here.
Jag Panzer in recent years have stuck to a fairly similar formula – mostly traditional rockers mixed with experimental tracks – and this album does not diverge from that formula. It's actually just about the best they've done while adhering to it, with the most interesting tunes and the most confident, ballsy performances. The songwriting here is stripped down just enough to allow for clarity and strength, but still complex enough that the songs reveal more layers with each listen.
Stand at rest, troops. The mission is finished. It has been a successful one. This is Heavy Metal the way the Gods intended. Well done gentleman! Well done!!

The second re-release of the  first live DVD by legendary American Pop/Rock/Hip Hip/Soul/Funk singer.
Recorded on October 11, 1998, at Madison Square Garden in New York City, as part of The Velvet Rope Tour, the concert was broadcast live on HBO in the United States, and reached an audience of 15 million viewers in the US alone. The concert would also be broadcast on the cable channel's international networks at later dates.
DVD has been certified Platinum by the RIAA. It was nominated for 4 Emmy Awards, including "Outstanding Choreography", "Outstanding Lighting Direction", "Outstanding Music Direction" and "Outstanding Technical Direction/Camera/Video for a Special". The second studio album by legendary British Jazz Fusion/Progressive Rock guitarist.
After the dissolution of the power trio Beck, Bogert & Appice (BBA) in spring 1974, Beck took time for session work with other bands. In December, a half-hearted "audition" for The Rolling Stones took place, Beck jamming Blues with the band for one day, before realizing their musical styles were not compatible. During this period, Beck decided to record an all-instrumental album, bringing back keyboardist Max Middleton from the second Jeff Beck Group. He hired George Martin to produce after hearing his work with the Mahavishnu Orchestra's 1974 album "Apocalypse". According to Carmine Appice, who played with Beck in BBA, he was involved in the writing and recording process of "Blow By Blow", but Appice's parts were edited out after a dispute with Beck's management. The fourth key contributor to "Blow By Blow" after Beck, Middleton, and Martin was Stevie Wonder, who gave Beck his songs "Cause We've Ended As Lovers" and "Thelonius", with Wonder playing clarinet on the latter uncredited. The former song appeared on Wonder's 1974 album "Stevie Wonder Presents: Syreeta", made with then-wife Syreeta Wright, while Wonder never recorded "Thelonius" himself. A cover of the Beatles song "She's a Woman" was selected, as well as the composition "Diamond Dust" by Bernie Holland of the band Hummingbird, consisting of musicians from the second Beck Group. The other five tracks were band originals with Beck and Middleton the main writers, and the last track on each side featured string arrangements by Martin. Beck dedicated "Cause We've Ended as Lovers" to fellow guitarist Roy Buchanan, with an acknowledgement to Wonder.
An instrumental album "Blow By Blow" was recorded in October 1974 and released via Epic Records in March 1975. It was a hit in the US, reaching No. 4 on the American Billboard 200 album charts, and was certified Platinum by the RIAA for a million copies sold. It remains Beck's highest-charting album.
A live version of the track "Scatterbrain" was featured in the video game Guitar Hero 5.

Released on 13 November 2015, the album is the first of new original material credited to the band since "Zoom" (2001), and the second since the band's original disbandment in 1986. The moniker came out from Lynne as a response to ELO tribute and imitation bands, who repeatedly used ELO for promoting their own tours.
The album peaked at number two on the Billboard Top Rock Albums and number four on the UK Albums Chart, where it has been certified Platinum.

The buzz on Jennifer Batten rose from the guitar underground, and the guitar magazines promptly began chronicling her savvy musicianship and highly original approach to the electric guitar in print. Critically acclaimed as one of the most creative, imaginative and talented guitarists on the planet and always at the forefront of technology Jennifer Batten returns for her third solo album in the captivating sonic tapestry of “Whatever”.
The album is described in style by Jennifer herself as “Guitronica”. The album possesses plenty of guitar, but “Whatever” is heavily multi textured with a plethora of sounds and vocal samples, and has a humorous thread throughout. The music is also influenced by various ethnic cultures such as the African vibe in "Off the Deep End".
While she's best known for her stints alongside Pop and Rock giants, namely Michael Jackson and Jeff Beck, six-string shredder Jennifer Batten has issued sporadic solo releases along the way, such as 2008's "Whatever". And it turns out that it was her work with the latter notable gentleman that has considerably rubbed off on her musically, as Whatever sounds like a direct descendent of such latter day Electro-Rock Beck releases as 1999's "Who Else!" and 2001's "You Had It Coming". And perhaps this shouldn't come as much of a surprise, as it was precisely these two Beck studio efforts that Batten played on (and even lent a hand in songwriting). Beck-like guitar phrasing is certainly apparent throughout (especially on such ditties as "Ass Whoopin" and "Off the Deep End"), with a few curveballs along the way, including a pair of tracks that sound comparable to Laurie Anderson's early-'80s work ("Cupid's Arrow" and "Inner Journey").
On the albums creation Jennifer comments, “Originally I started writing a lot of these tracks for Jeff Beck when I was in his band. My third CD has been long overdue so in the end I'm happy to have these tracks for myself! He got me interested in Electronica and I'm very happy to have that as a new direction with all the amazing inspiring sounds available today.”
Jennifer describes the album as "'sort of' instrumental. There are vocal samples telling stories in most songs, but not the standard song type lyrics and melodies. I played and programmed most of the CD with the exception of having a few guests".
