The sixth full-length album by the cult American Metalcore band.
With this album, Trivium opted to go for a more direct, stripped down approach. Some people find David Draiman’s influence on the album to be disturbing (that pun was worth it), however, the big picture is Draiman did a damn good job with the production of this album and he really helped Matt Heafy improve his vocals and as a result, there is more singing on this record than the previous Trivium records.
The actual album aims to appeal to a wider range of people, yet it’s not a sellout by any means. Trivium is a risk-taking band; they experiment with their sound and deliver a unique experience with each new album. People complain that this one sounds strangely like Disturbed meets Trivium, but in real it does have a more Alternative Metal approach in some of the riffing, but at the core of the sound, it’s still 100% Trivium. Tracks like “Strife” and “No Way to Heal” are classic Trivium songs all the way while “Brave This Storm” and the title track have that Alternative Metal vibe mixed in with Trivium’s sound.
Leads and solos are very well done and very effective. In fact, “Strife” and “No Way to Heal” have some killer lead guitar parts and feature some of the album’s best solos. “Wake” is a great ending to the album and showcases Matt’s lower vocal range. That being said there are some fantastic standout tracks to be found here. “Strife” is a fantastic song and it’s amazing live! “No Way to Heal” is the heaviest song on the record by far and would be a great live song. “Wake (The End is Nigh)” is an amazing closer and it shows musical growth for the band.
The riffs may not be as complex as they once were and Matt may not be screaming as much as before, but everything that made it onto this record is strong, quality material. And while this does sound like Trivium meets Disturbed, everything on this record is still way more complex than Disturbed has ever been. If you enjoyed "In Waves", then you’ll likely enjoy this album!
It is the last album to feature second drummer Nick Augusto before he had departed from the band in May 2014.
The album debuted at No. 27 on the Billboard 200 albums chart on its release, selling 15 000 copies in the United States in its first week. It also debuted at No. 6 on Billboard's Top Rock Albums, and No. 2 on Hard Rock Albums. The album has sold 69 000 copies in the United States as of September 2015.

Melodic and catchy metalcore, probably one of the best Metal albums of this generation, "Ascendancy" is near masterpiece, with every song being well written and executed. Trivium manages to take Metalcore and infuse Thrash elements along with Death Metal, making them stand atop the Metalcore mountain. The catchy choruses and the awesome drumming in this album, every track makes you sing and headbang the whole ride through.
The music video for "Like Light to the Flies" debuted at MTV2's Headbangers Ball on September 25, 2004 and features the original demo of the song, which was included on the MTV compilation album Headbangers Ball Volume 2. Likewise, demos of songs "The Deceived" and "Blinding Tears Will Break the Skies" were included on the re-release of Trivium's debut album Ember to Inferno, nearly a year before "Ascendancy" was released.
Since its release, "Ascendancy" has sold over 500 000 copies worldwide. In the U.S., the album peaked at No. 151 on the Billboard 200 and at No. 4 on the Top Heatseekers charts, and has sold over 140 000 units. In the UK, it peaked at No. 79, and shipped over 100 000 copies, attaining Gold status, without entering the UK top 75.

The fourth full-length studio album by cult American Metalcore band.
The last release to feature original drummer Travis Smith. 
"Shogun" largely features a continuation of the band playing Thrash Metal, Metalcore, and Progressive Metal, the latter exhibited by technical instrumentation and longer song lengths. It sees a prominent return of Matt Heafy's screaming vocals, which were a rare occurrence on "The Crusade". The album is also the band's first to produced by Nick Raskulinecz. "Shogun" heavily features 7-string guitars and 5-string bass guitars, which had been used sparingly on "The Crusade". The band did not want to make an album where all songs had the same singing style, like in "The Crusade", and decided to just let their music flow naturally and unbiased. Unlike "The Crusade", which had some songs focusing on famous and controversial murders/crimes, this album has a few songs that deal with ancient Japanese military customs and several regarding Greek mythology, some serving as metaphors to be interpreted by the listener. With a duration of over 11 minutes, the album's title track is the longest Trivium have ever recorded.
"Shogun" is easily Trivium's most challenging and ambitious album yet, and it was clearly the album Trivium had to make in order to get unduly prejudiced metalheads off their backs and finally silence undue suspicions over their abundant talent and devotion to Heavy Metal.
Since its release, "Shogun" has sold over 300 000 copies worldwide. In the United States in its first week of release sold 24 000 copies and debuted at number 23 on the Billboard 200 chart, and the top 100 in 18 other countries, including number 6 on the Japanese international charts, number 4 on the Canadian Hard Rock Charts, number 1 on the UK Rock charts and number 4 on the Australian charts. As of March 2009, the album has sold around 70 000 copies in the United States since its late September release.

The third full-length studio album by cult American Heavy/Thrash Metal band.
The album represents a drastic change in style from their previous album, "Ascendancy", abandoning the Metalcore genre and featuring a style described generally as Thrash Metal, along with Progressive Metal and Speed metal. Accordingly, vocalist and guitarist Matt Heafy sings with primarily 'clean' vocals throughout "The Crusade", rather than utilizing the 'screaming' style heard on "Ascendancy".
Upon listening to Trivium's "The Crusade" for the first time, it seems remarkable that this is the same band that recorded "Ember To Inferno" a scant three years ago. While last year's "Ascendancy" hinted at what was to come, it still doesn't prepare the listener properly. Sure, early Metallica are an influence on Trivium (the Metallica who released "Ride The Lightning" and "Master Of Puppets", not the current incarnation who left those guys in the dust to become a respectable Rock band). Though it's made and listened to primarily by the young, as a genre, Metal has grown up and become far more sophisticated than it's given credit for. If anything, it's the only place in Rock & Roll music where innovation and creativity are flourishing because other than electricity and volume, there are no rules; the musicianship is top-notch, the writing gets better all the time, and production techniques are not the focus, music is. And Trivium's "The Crusade" is a perfect example of what's possible!
"The Crusade" peaked at number 7 in the United Kingdom and was later certified Silver in for sales in excess of 60 000 copies. In the United States, the album debuted at No. 25 on the Billboard 200 albums chart on its release, selling 31 000 copies in the US in its first week. It has sold over 100 000 copies in the United States.

Re-release of the fifth full-length album by Czech Pagan Black Metal band.
Crushing Forest Pagan Black Metal with Folk undertones. Trollech have been around for over ten years. "Jasmuz" is a very solid release that features every single element that makes a great Pagan Metal album. However, it’s an extra element in this release that made us deduct several points from our score, some terrible vocals that sound like a troll being raped by a bear, or something like that. In the first song “Moudrost Kovare” they stick out like a sweater on the beach). And most people will stop listening to this album after they hear them.
However, we managed to pull through the first song that has these terrible ‘sounds’ (will not even consider them vocals), and we found eight very well crafted songs that put together a brilliant album in “Jasmuz”. All the elements we can expect from a Pagan Metal release are here, the fast-paced Black Metal like riffing and restless drumming, the use of several vocal styles (from growls to shrieks to clean vocals, to the annoying ‘sound’), and the use of acoustic Folk-ish passages to adorn some parts of the songs.
Good thing the annoying sound is not used too much in this release and we are left with very well composed songs that feature a wide variety of styles mixed within them, but never loosing Trollech’s core Black Metal sound. The guitar riffs are very diverse something standard in catchy Pagan Metal releases, the solos are also very good and give the music that extra melodic aspect when used.
The drumming is very fast-paced and it never gets dull, something we find hard to get with Pagan Metal releases that turn into snore-fests after a few songs.
The overall production of “Jasmuz” is top notch, allowing all instruments to sound greatly and the melody of the music is easily identified, even on the chaotic sections.
With all the lyrics in Czech, we have no idea what Trollech is really talking about, but with their good music, who cares! If you are looking for a new Pagan Metal band to add to your constant rotation of bands, look no further and give Trollech a chance!

The project of vocalist Arthur Berkut (ex- Autograph, Aria, etc.) and guitarist Maverick (ex-Aria).
Arthur Mikheev graduated from Moscow Gnessin Musical College as vocalist. In the early 1980s, he participated in the cover band Magic Twilight, led by Vitaliy Dubinin and Vladimir Holstinin, who later formed Aria. After a few years, he was invited to join Autograph, already a popular Rock band in Soviet Union, to replace its former vocalist. Since 1984, Arthur has performed under his stage name, "Berkut". Together with Autograph, Berkut toured over the USA in 1989. However, in 1990, during the tour, Autograph was disbanded. Berkut remained in the USA and tried himself in different projects. In 1997, Arthur returned to Russia. After returning, he involves Sergey "Maverick" Mavrin (Showtime, ex- Aria, ex- Kipelov) and two musicians from US band Siberian to create his new project called Tsar (TSAR = Tim, Sergey, Arthur, Rob).
The album includes well-arranged and performed songs with good vocals, which highly recommended for fans of Scorpions and Melodic Metal in general!

Remastered re-release of the eighth full-length album by the cult Polish Heavy/Thrash Metal band.
Turbo is one of the most underrated bands ever. Even though most Metal fans are probably unfamiliar with them, Turbo has actually been an active force in the Polish Metal scene over the last twenty years. The band's style of bloodthirsty Thrash was made famous throughout Poland until the early nineties when Turbo mysteriously decided to call it quits. Turbo have released seven albums between 1980 and 1991 before disappearing in the mists of time. Especially their early to middle era is said to have been excellent. After a near decade of hiatus, Turbo reunited, but with a slight change under their belts. The band's first record since their reunion was "Awatar", which seemed great at first for all those that supported them, but hardcore fans of the band were surprised by Turbo's decision to substitute Thrash for their main inspiration: Traditional Heavy Metal.
Turbo decided to abandon most of their Thrash elements by switching to a Traditional Metal sound on "Awatar", and it was a successful transition. To describe "Awatar" is no easy task for sure, because the gentlemen from Poland try to elude categorization. What the whole album is featuring are pretty modern sounding guitars, sometimes even down-tuned a little. The whole endeavor sounds quite modern, but without trying to emulate the successful Nu Metal-formula. Modern Thrash is the label that could best be attached to the quartet, but still doesn't fully fit, because Turbo still are more variable than most bands of that style. 
The overall music isn't as fast as some of Turbo's previous material, but most of the songs manage to sound enjoyably heavy. The riffing is focused around Turbo's native style of Heavy Metal with small touches of Prog and Thrash. Fans of Thrash will probably enjoy the middle of "Spectre in the Opera" when Turbo launches a monster Thrash riff that has Slayer worship written all over it. This is, however, one of the few examples of Thrash on this album; there are small portions of Thrash riffing throughout the course of this album, but most of the featured guitar work resembles Turbo's Traditional Metal roots the most.
Album have the quite variable song-writing and some good vocal-lines, which fit the material very well, Grzegorz Kupczyk has a really good voice. He has fantastic singing voice that he applies a majority of the time.
There are two versions of album available - with Polish lyrics and with English lyrics. Also the guitar mix differs between the editions. This CD is a version with Polish lyrics.
Even though this isn't the best offering this band has done, "Awatar" is still a decent record with some great qualities. Highly recommended to check this one out if you like Traditional Metal or have had previous experiences with Turbo!!

Remastered re-release of the seventh full-length album by the cult Polish Heavy/Thrash Metal band.
Originally released in 1992, "One Way" is now remastered in a limited-edition digipack from Poland's Metal Mind Productions - complete with bonus tracks and an alternate track listing.
This stuff is totally impressive, timeless; you will believe it was recorded way back in 1985-86. This overwhelming brutality was pretty impossible to find on most of Thrash albums of the 90’s. While everybody else was becoming mellow and decadent, these guys brought back the adorable sonic bestiality, evil imagery and genuine spirit of the subgenre. Numbers like “Regression” or “End User” make it clear: there’s no time for sophistication and melody, just aggression and velocity. Huge riffs that might not be the most elaborated and spectacular, define a very harsh sound that achieves a level of intensity and roughness that could make Sodom and Kreator feel quite jealous.
With roots stemming back to 1980, Turbo apparently opted for a more modern and brutal sound on "One Way", but it all comes off as pretty old school to ears. Based on the cover and song titles ("Regression", "Blasphemy", "Scum", "Mental Alienation", "Disaster Area"), you know what you're getting with this reissue!
Turbo were the leaders of their country underground movement, with all honours as records like this prove. That’s the way pure Thrash used to be in the good old times!!
This CD preserves that moment of glory they once reached, don’t hesitate to check it out.

Remastered re-release of the second compilation album by the legendary American Rock‘n’Roll/Glam/Heavy Metal/Hard Rock band.
Compilation of rare or never released studio versions of original songs that Twisted Sister performed while playing the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut club circuit from 1978-1981.
"Rock will live tomorrow, but disco has to die today" - the line sung by a young and defiant Dee Snider during "Rock 'N' Roll Saviors" in 1978 summed up much about the fiercely independent approach that Twisted Sister would take after he joined the band in 1976. Originally billing itself as the New Jersey version of the New York Dolls and covering Glam classics of the day after Jay Jay French formed the act in 1972, it would be Snider's entry that breathed new life into Twisted SIister. Snider's larger-than-life stage presence, enormous songwriting contributions, and his urging to retain the Glam roots/image but move into a Harder Rock and, ultimately, Heavy Metal direction would result in Twisted Sister becoming kings of the club circuit and set the stage for later commercial successes. Those stories and more are contained in the extensive liner notes included with this second reissue of "Club Daze Volume I: The Studio Sessions", a 13-track collection of songs recorded in 1978-1979 and 1981 ("Shoot 'Em Down") that offer new fans a view into the Rock 'n Roll roots and old fans a chance to revisit lost classics.
Those only familiar with the '80s output may be surprised to hear the staunch 1970s Rock and Hard Rock sounds characteristic of many of these songs. Cuts like "Follow Me", "Can't Stand Still", and the sizzling "Lady's Boy" are reminiscent to varying degrees of everyone from Ted Nugent and The Amboy Dukes (and similar Detroit Rock acts) and Chuck Berry to T. Rex and Brownsville Station. AC/DC was an admitted influence on Snider, the fat bass/drum propulsion and basic riffing also noticeable, while Slade figured in to Glam shaded, Pop-influenced cuts like "I'll Never Grow Up, Now", which would hint at the hooks 'n attitude sound the band perfected in the 80s. Also included is the original, rougher-edged cover version of "Leader Of The Pack", which would later show up on 1985's "Come Out And Play" to a less than enthusiastic fan response. "Under The Blade" and "Shoot 'Em Down" were most indicative of the Metal direction in which the band was headed, both tracks ending up on debut full-length "Under The Blade".
Depending on your completist proclivities, "Club Daze Volume I: The Studio Sessions" is a nicely packaged collection of some pretty darn good '70s Rock tunes that probably escaped the radar of many fans outside of the New York/New Jersey area. Those Twisted Sister fans that missed the 1999 Spitfire of the album are strongly advised to snap up this Armoury remaster!
