The sixth full-length studio album by legendary British Hard Rock band.
The record is an unexpected return to form from the journeyman Hard Rockers. Just a record before, Rainbow sounded as if they were verging on Billy Squier territory, but here, they reverse course and deliver a solid, no-frills Hard Rock record. It isn't just that the material is stronger, though it certainly is, it's that Roger Glover abandoned his smoothed-out, radio-ready production that marred "Difficult To Cure". The band line-up was the same as had recorded the previous "Difficult To Cure" album, with the exception of David Rosenthal, who replaced Don Airey on keyboards.
Vocalist Joe Lynn Turner sounds more comfortable with the group, and the entire band just seems to gel, turning even the generic numbers on the album into enjoyable, straight-ahead Hard Rock. There may not be any specific showcases for Ritchie Blackmore, but his playing is better heard in this setting, where he's not only soloing, he's propelling the band with his powerful riffs. As always, he's the driving force behind the band, but this is truly a band effort, which is one of the reasons why "Straight Between The Eyes" is one of the strongest albums the group ever cut!
In 2022, "Straight Between The Eyes" was named #5 of "The 25 greatest Rock guitar albums of 1982" list in Guitar World Magazine.

Fourth compilation album by the legendary British Hard Rock/Heavy Metal/AOR band.
"The Best Of Rainbow" compiles 16 of the best tracks from Rainbow's first seven studio albums, wisely avoiding 1977's live "On Stage" release. The first two tracks from their debut album, 1975's "Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow", showcases the instant bond that was formed between Blackmore and Ronnie James Dio, especially on "Man on the Silver Mountain." Blackmore changed the band for the following year's "Rainbow Rising", with Jimmy Bain replacing bass player Craig Gruber, and Cozy Powell taking percussion duties away from Gary Driscoll. Adding keyboard player Tony Carey helped tracks like "Starstruck" and the lengthy "Stargazer" to sound a little more dimensional and fluent than the band's first effort. All of 1978's "Long Live Rock and Roll" have Rainbow settling in to a heavier sound with faster guitar riffs, proven on the frantic "Kill the King" and on the string accompanied "Gates of Babylon." With Dio leaving in 1978, Graham Bonnet filled in on vocals for "Down To Earth", with Roger Glover playing bass. Although the album gave the band a number 40 hit with "Since You've Been Gone," one of Russ Ballard's creations, Bonnet left thereafter and was replaced by Joe Lynn Turner for the "Difficult To Cure" album. The album sold on the strength of "I Surrender," one of their best tracks, but the remaining tunes marked the beginning of Rainbow's recession. "Jealous Lover," the B-side to 1981's "Can't Happen Here" is a nice addition to the collection, while the next four tracks from Rainbow's most disappointing releases are best heard here than on their parent albums. For a hits package, "The Very Best Of Rainbow" doubles as both a handy sift through the band's changing lineup and as a good place to start for those who are inquisitive!
The front cover comes from the inside of the first Rainbow album, "Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow", and is actually a picture of Ritchie Blackmore playing with his previous band, Deep Purple.

This release is a kind of "start-up" for future creation of the band. The single marked the beginning of a completely new vector of the band’ development. The song "The Retribution" is a new step of style changing from Thrash/Death Metal to Death/Brutal Death Metal. Band promise to record their next (fourth) full-length album in the same vein.
In the song "The Retribution" basically there are elements of Brutal Death Metal but also presented little dose of classic Thrash Metal elements. As a result they’ve got a decent "massacre" in which every listener will find something for himself.

The third full-length studio album by legendary German Alternative/Industrial/Dance-Metal band.
With the first Rammstein album you hear, it's hard not to be slightly amazed by the sheer chutzpah of it all. The German lyrics, the Prog Rock tendencies, the classic Metal guitars, and the Ridiculous Basso Profundo vocals -- you either fall for it, spurn it, or are utterly bemused by the extremeness of it all. Unless you're a fanatic, it wears a little thin the second time around. And for most listeners, MUTTER, the group's third album and sequel to their inexplicable commercial breakthrough "Sehnsucht", will be the second time around since it's their first release since becoming a high profile act.
Thing is, if you've heard that record, you've pretty much heard "Mutter", since all the trademarks are in place, without much noticeable variation. Yes, there are slight differences, chief of which is the cleaner production, which streamlines everything, so the guitars don't seem as heavy, the songs not as epic, and the whole enterprise not as ridiculous. That's not the same thing as stripping the group to the basics, however; it's more like wrapping up the music in nice, shiny paper and putting a ribbon on it. That's not really good for a group like Rammstein, but it doesn't dilute their impact, either, because they are what they are and no amount of polish will make them mainstream (nor will it make it possible to take them seriously).
If you are not into Death Metal or something like that, but if you are into Metal, maybe Rammstein’s "Mutter" is very good, because it has a lot of different elements, it has orchestra parts, heavy guitars, good drum sound — that could be a good reference!
The album's cover image is a photograph of a dead fetus, which was taken by Daniel & Geo Fuchs. The album has yielded six Singles, which, to date, are the most released from any Rammstein album.
In 2005, "Mutter" was ranked number 324 in Rock Hard Magazine's book "The 500 Greatest Rock & Metal Albums of All Time".

Debut full-length album by the Finnish Progressive Folk Rock/Metal band.
Finland's Rauta (which means "Iron") are a fantastic act that sings in Finnish, and Firebox Records introduce them to the world on this debut.
The band started to write their first material in 2003 which resulted in their debut album "Haudanmaa". Musically Rauta has several influences; most present are, next to Folk, Progressive Rock and Metal. This together results in a great mixture that goes from Metal to Rock to Folk and even some Jazz sometimes. Especially songs like "Liian Kaukana", "Veren Perintö" and "Morsian Pukeutuu Keltaiseen" give a special feeling with great compositions and variety of instruments.
Lyrically it’s of course not easy to follow but thanks to the great crystal clear production that gave every instrument some space to breath most of the vocals are good to hear. The lyrics handle subjects with a certain criticism against progress and the decadence of the western society, on the other hand they lean heavily on longing for nature, which is something that comes back very often in the Finnish folklore.
This is great album with beautiful compositions! A must for fans of: Lumsk, Korpiklaani, Orplid and the non-Metal elements of Vintersorg!!

Produced by Michael Wagener and Udo Dirkschneider, it didn't quite measure up to their classic debut, "All For One", but is a marked improvement over the second album, "Wiped Out". Largely credited with sowing the seeds of Thrash Metal along with fellow New Wave of British Heavy Metal trio Venom.
For those more familiar with the N.W.O.B.H.M., standout cuts such as "Break the Chain", "Take It Away" and "Mind Over Metal" help make this disc quite a treat!

If ever there was a band to walk hand in hand with Motörhead into war - it’s Raven. Apart from Motörhead, it’s fair to say that this trio has transcended all trends by way of continuing to churn out no frills hammering Heavy Metal. Raven is the sort of band that is very much part of Heavy Metal furniture; a trio which at times we’ve taken for granted due to their immovable sound and vision.
With their 13th full-length studio slab of concrete, and their first opus since 2009’s "Walk Through Fire", these guys continue to march through the trends and destroy all in their wake; forget Glam Metal, forget Grunge, and forget Nu-Metal, because Raven plows on like a war machine operated by lunatics hell-bent on wasting all those who do not bow down to their command. And so is it really a surprise then that the aptly titled "ExtermiNation" is another crushing slab of Old School Metal? Of course not!
Raven occupies the same sort of scrap-metal yard which the likes of Accept have made their home. Raven is one of those primitive forces with a no-care, can-do attitude – as reliable as hell and yet not just content with filling up their records with average lumps. Raven remains lethal in whichever path it takes; John Gallagher’s vocals always bubbling with malice in order to work in cohorts with the latest steaming riff, frothing bass-line and hammering drum.
"ExtermiNation" is one of those albums you’ll slap on when you’re pissed off or feeling at a loss with the Heavy Metal genre, because not only do this terrible trio reinstall faith in the genre, they will pump your lungs full of lead, and get your heart beating on a diet of molten steel!

It is the first album recorded in the United States for the major label Atlantic Records, after the British band had passed under American management.
Although considered a very important contributing force to the emergence of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, Raven's grip on musical (and lyrical) credibility was always tenuous. Pure energy and enthusiasm is what saved this band, and they still were an influential, but limited, Metal band.
Even with its highly mainstreamed feel and pop appeal, this album still packs enough killer, and less filler to warrant your praise. These guys had more individuality than countless others, and more talent. Get this if you are a fan of the band or style!
"Hard Ride" is a re-recording of the song from Raven's debut album "Rock Until You Drop".
