Debut full-length album by Spanish Technical Melodic Death Metal band.
"Abyssal Throne" definitely delivers much of what is expected of a Death Metal album – with a few delightful twists.
Clearly drawing influence from many of the various sub-genres and offshoots of Death Metal, this record has something for anyone who has a warm place for that brutal sonic violence in their hearts. The guitar parts have the heavy sound of Modern Metal, while varying between the super palm-muted parts of the more brutal areas of the genre, to intricate lick-like riffs, to more melodic chord progressions – very well done. Add to that extremely well crafted solos and leads throughout (don't forget to carry the technical mastery), and you'll love their merciless guitar section.
Vocals vary as well throughout – covering most of the growls-scream spectrum – again, Melo-Death meets Brutal meets Old-school. The variation in pitch and style relieves a lot of the monotony inherent in a vocal style practically void of melody. Here's a great idea that keeps the listener on their toes is symphonic arrangements that only come for a very short time, once in a while; very nice and very interesting sonically.
An absolutely essential album, a conceptual work of majestic, Melodic, Modern, Technical Death Metal, which is accompanied by a soon to be released novel written by its own vocalist.
All in all, a very well made record, especially for a first release!

Nevaloth has redefined the idea of Black Metal with Progressive, Avant-Garde and Psychedelic elements and created a one of a kind, unique masterpiece! The band created their own unique style, which has never been heard before. Omnipotent, multidimensional and diverse atmosphere is a delight for every Black Metal lover out there!! European re-release of the third full-length album by American Progressive/Power Metal band.
Horacio Colmenares (Steel Prophet guitarist) returns with a new band and a new album amidst rumors that the band has broken up. Horacio's liner note: "According to some people, New Eden is 'no more' so I guess this album is just a figment of our imagination".
After "Through The Make Believe" from 1998 and "Obscure Masterplan" from 1999, it's still US Power Metal with opulent melody leads and insane vocals found in higher and highest regions, slightly intricate as far as arrangements are concerned, complex and with a lot of substance, which ensures the recognizing value of the material.
As new member there's Rick Mythiasin to be welcomed, former siren of Steel Prophet and Taraxacum. His vocals make this album a gourmet's morsel for fans of the genre.
The songs and the sound still based on the Metal of the 90th, therefore "Stagnant Progression" sounds old fashioned. There are more melodic Speed Metal with quite some influences from the 80's Iron Maiden.

Almost a year after releasing debut album, Italian Psych Sludge Metallers are back to inflict more sonic devastation upon to the world. They have just released a truly stunning two-part album that runs for a mind-expanding 95 minutes or so.
If you are a fan of their debut album then you are in for a wild ride as Nibiru are back stronger and stronger than ever before. Nibiru have further enhanced their self-proclaimed Tribal Psychedelic Sludge experience. Imagine Bong jamming with Ufomammut and that is only a glimpse of what to expect on this psychedelic journey into the unknown.
Nibiru have embraced the Drone side of their music unlike ever before as it violently clashes with the warped out vibes of their Doom/Sludge Metal riffs they brought to the world less than a year ago. The first CD of the two is probably the most drone based with plenty of twists and turns to keep you in a trance throughout. Nibiru add distorted voices that echo from a distant world or dimension with the heavy and slow pounding Sludge Metal riffs trying to confuse you at every turn.
"Netrayoni" is an unconventional album, as it has no set narrative or structure to fall back on. This is Nibiru doing what Nibiru does so well. Playing music that only they can truly understand as this album will frustrate, confuse, delight and thrill you all in equal measure. Nibiru leave no stone unturned as they blaze through 95 minutes of immense Psych/Drone based Doom/Sludge Metal music that comes from a long lost world. It may have some recognizable speeches and noises throughout the epic running time but this album will leave you emotionally drained at times. As the band lay on epic riffs that, have the power to last for days.
"Netrayoni" is a deeply moving and involving album that becomes a better experience the more times you listen to it. Therefore, you may need a few listens before getting the full effect. As you are going to miss a whole load of noises and riffs as Nibiru have a lot going on at times. This is a very-multi layered album.
The 2nd part of the album feels more of a spiritual successor to their debut album as it features the same sort of music. It is a lot straighter forward compared to Part 1 but do not think the guys lay off the crazy psych sonic riffs they played earlier as they do not. Part 2 is just as imaginative though the band combining the two worlds from "Netrayoni" and "Caosgon" for one wild unpredictable ride.
"Netrayoni" is a surreal psychedelic nightmare come to life. It embraces the crazier side of music with more riffs you could possibly imagine. It is a truly stunning work of art though it may divide opinions within the Doom/Sludge Metal community as it you need to give this album your full attention. Even if you lose one second of concentration you may have a different experience altogether than the one you should be expecting.
"Netrayoni" is one of the most creative albums in a very long time. Nibiru are one of the new breed of Italian Sludge Metal bands, as "Netrayoni" is a brilliant and uncompromising album from a truly talented band that can only become better!

While many bands these days prefer showing half-naked vampiric vixens on their cover arts, Nicodemus went for an artsy and beautiful cover of a lady holding a book and gazing to the ground.
On the music, Nicodemus could be classified as Progressive Gothic Black Metal. The album starts with "Something In the Walls" a catchy song that have some good keyboards that resemble bells, "Nightfall Bares My Burden" is another good track, begins with some clean singing and nice piano lines. "Afterglow" has good vocal effects in all the song, "Harlot" shows us the slower part of the band, its fun if you look this song as a Black Metal ballad, if there's something like that. "The Lazarus Syndrome" is an excellent instrumental song, the riffing, the soloing and the keyboards intertwine perfectly to make this incredible piece.
Roughly, music similar to Gothic Death bands like Tristiana or Trail Of Tears, but less experimentally weird and more Dark than Gloomy, if that makes sense. The primary instruments here are guitar and keyboards (mostly piano), sometimes with an almost Power Metal riff approach. The songs are all mid-paced or slow, but not the insufferable slow that largely passes for Doom these days. At its best moments, as on "Afterglow", "Harlot" and "Deepening", this album is both moody and catchy.
There are both clean and harsh vocals on this CD. The harsh are provided by mainman Chris Morris and are an almost Black Metal rasp. One Tamar Yvonne provides the female vocals and when she gets to sing, she sounds fine, but she isn’t on the album all that much, mostly singing background stuff. Morris also sings clean.
The production here is a bit rough. The whole does create a very dark atmosphere without the self-pity this kind of music so often wallows in. This is an album that grows on you with each listen, as each time you will hear some cool little part you missed before.
Nicodemus have talent, some compositions have fresh ideas. This is a solid Gothic/Death release with more melody than gloom, and it shows a lot of potential!

The debut EP by American Blackened Death/Thrash Metal band.
"The Initiation" captures the best of the shredding days of US and German Thrash Metal, with band's own darker style and grotesque visions. Each song comes fist-in-face, from intense speeds to headbanging groove tempos and shredding solos that will make you want to rage in the mosh pit.
Vocals range from Harsh and Grim Black Metal with added Gore Sickening Lows, but in Thrash style vocal patterns. The music is also packed with movie theatrics and horrifying screams, acted and performed by the band members themselves.
The amazing detailed drumming, packed with a clear production, allows listeners to easily distinguish every guitar/drum riffage, yet with a production, which holds a dark Metallic rawness, perfectly fitting to their style.
The drumming goes beyond the traditional concepts and explores the genres of all Metal, appealing to fans of Death, Grind, War, Hardcore or even Punk.
Guitars are fast and technical, but just enough to allow the listener to interpret the craft of this music. The guitar riffing and solos are played with experience, taken us back to the days of Metallica, Slayer, Dark Angel, Kreator.
Some lyrics written in the traditional Thrash style, while some are written in a more poetic Gothic way that takes the listener through a world of vampire legends, vampirism, romance, resurrections, and afterlife.
