The tenth full-length studio album by the legendary Swedish Hard Rock band.
Keeping roughly the same lineup for almost 29 years, 2015 saw the band's 10th album and first under UDR Records. Whereas the past two albums were rather mellow in comparison, the new release has seen them come back heavier, more technical and, essentially, bigger.
The Northern Kings of Hard Rock wage a war in the title track, opening the album. Cutting through with a heavy, driving, bass-driven riff, it promises to deliver the more Metallic vibes that the 'heavier' fans have been waiting to return since "Secret Society". As one could expect, the songwriting is spectacular; great thought obviously being put into choosing this piece as the album's first shot fired. Joey Tempest's indomitable vocal talent shows no audible signs of aging. Similarly displayed in the feel-good "The Second Day", a mid-paced AOR-like track that capitalizes on its catchiness, the instrumentation lightly arranged to thicken the chorus and dissipate, adding breeze and flow to the verses; but then, if you would like to remind yourself of how Europe performs those killer, enormous, Euro-style choruses, this is the track to turn to.
"Praise You" is the transition from a thick, groovy, almost Stoner-like intro riff to a lilting, Bluesy and Spacey series of verses is both jarring and relaxing; a strangely functional juxtaposition. This track also contains one of the album's best choruses and the best example of songwriting on the album; the sonic 'sweet-spot', if you will, where glorious riffs and powerful vocals intersect.
"Children of the Mind" also deserves to be boldly highlighted; easily one of the more Metallic tracks, it's riffs a powerful mix of technicality, groove and catchiness. Joey's voice also takes leaps and bounds, holding powerful notes long and high.
"Angels (With Broken Hearts)" is the 'lighter-raiser' of the album. The slowest track, and arguably the quietest, minimalism is used to sublime and seminal effect; lyrically prominent, with melodies guitars and keyboards used to colorful and emotive effect.
This is definitely Europe's strongest record in years. Normally gravitating to the more technical and 'ridiculous' of the Metal universe. Not only a tremendous release for the Metal and Hard Rock world, but a testament to the band's career, and an excellent, explosive start to the year!!

The second full-length album by Italian Progressive Power Metal band.
Event Horizon's first official release is not one-dimensional. Band came to life in 1996, releasing their independent debut "Year: Zero" about six years later. Event Horizon's music on "Naked On The Black Floor" could be described as a mix of Evergrey's haunting and brutal guitar riffs, angry vocals which occasionally tend to overstep the limits of its range, and dark synth textures that recall another underrated Italian band, Lifend.
Gianluca Girardi is a very ambitious singer, opting for cool melodic lines on "Again", a song whose keyboard intro is almost identical to the Turkish Pop-Rock band Mor ve Otesi's radio hit "Bir Derdim Var". The churning guitar chords on it seem like they were inspired by Evergrey's non-Prog side; while "Bited" is more in the conventional Power Metal mould with great drumming.
The best songs on the album are the Prog-tinged "The Road to Myself", bringing forth bass player Mauro Boggioni's finger-picked solo and an overdubbed twin guitar harmony. Lots of changing tempos and odd-timed meters are woven into the mix, as swells of key melodies circulate in the background. "Fragments of Insanity" follows in a similar fashion, with emphasized synths and a powerful rhythmic syncopation on top of it. Perhaps the most complex number on the album, this track displays Event Horizon's perfect blend of Prog-infused melodic Metal with a deeply atmospheric undertone. Strangely, it's the songs with great bass grooves. The slap bass solo on the song is actually one of the finest parts on the album. This song isn't as heavy as the previous cut, but has several sections where mathematical guitars and electronic synth effects duel creatively. "Zero" is very abstract because of its programmed drum beats in the intro; while last track "The Wall" is the most experimental and synth-driven work, with Chroma Key type of keyboard orchestrations and dark yet clean vocals.
Bottom line, this is a good album!

Description

Debut full-length album by Italian Progressive Melodic Death Metal band.
Cleanly produced and full of solos, the music here is melodic but also heavy, sounding like a mix between At The Gates and The Crown. This isn't quite Prog Jazz or makes as much of a diverse statement as other Prog Death Metal bands like Cynic or Opeth, but it definitely holds its own.
After a ticking clock heard on "Intro," the band just tears into "Departing Of Time." It is a very fluid track that seamlessly just takes right off and blends so many riffs together for a bit of a haphazard, but enjoyable ride. The solos are melodic and don't ruin the pace or sound of the riffs, and drums bounce between just a full machine gun onslaught and nicely paused, even sections. Even the vocals- which hold a mid paced snarl- fit the music quite well. Other tracks like "Revenge" are a bit more 'Prog set' on the drumming side as there is one section where the music quiets down and just the drums hit these rather repetitive beats over and over, but the effect is excellent. "Tear Down The Sky" slows things down a bit for a bit of clean singing and more single string moments rather than just full on cohesive chugging and churning from the guitars. It is a slower track but definitely doesn't come off as being a ballad as it switches between soft and heavier moments- this is definitely more Opeth-esque. The closing "Immortal Creed" follows a similar style that is even softer, at least on the vocal front, but the music is still energetic and doesn't lose any of its pace. For those who are looking for a track that just tears everything apart and refuses to let up as far as the pace goes, "Be Your Own God" is one of the faster offerings on the album, touching on a speed similar to how Vader would perform their music, though with more technical beauty and a bit more melody.
Overall, for a debut this album is well done in production alone, and jumps from track to track without an issue. Everything feels like it should be in its place!

After almost more than two years of silence, the band begins to look forward to a new concept; they find themselves some suitable stage names, add a new vocalist, sign with Massacre Records and of course release a new album entitled “E-mania”, a new beginning in every way!
Whereas the bands first two albums offered creative Symphonic Doom/Death Metal with tons of other genres molded into the bands epic soundscape, “E-mania” takes on a more futuristic approach of Cyber Gothic Metal with emphasis on various atmospheres that aren’t too east to digest. It’s the same road Paradise Lost has undertaken on their last four releases; the main difference is that Evereve don’t forget the heavy guitars and up-tempo paces. The melodic guitars from the early days also have a modern approach to them through different sound filters but the trademark lead guitars haven’t gone out of sight, so phew!
Experimentation with different clean guitar and keyboard sounds is ever present on “E-mania”. This experimentation is rather useful and generates all kinds of atmospheres ranging from blunt schizophrenia (“This Is Not...”), gothic dance floor heat (“K.M. Most Terrible God”), to more hard-hitting themes like sadistic love (“Suzanne”) and bitterness (“T.o O.ur D.enial”). The new vocalist fits well with the new concept. He reminds of Fernando Ribeiro (Moonspell) at some points, he has the same low-accent-creepy voice.
“E-mania” shows a band that’s back on track and willing to experiment and invent. They really pulled themselves together and explored their options.
By the way, the album has 51 tracks and lasts for 51 minutes and 51 seconds (if you include the hidden tracks), wait a second, and 3x5+1=666 - the number of the beast! Fun, very fun!!

Evil Eruption is a band which began its journey since 1996, in 1999 split up without having released anything. In 2004 they decide to re-form the band and they are active until today while they have released two demos and one split.
Already by the first track of the debut full-length album, you understand that you are going to listen to fast, European Black Metal with dark, very commanding atmosphere, mid paced passages full of power and hyper speed outbursts. The riffs mainly are fast tremolo ones, while several times we come across to also fast, dark, dirty riffs and a few Thrashy ones. They are very interesting and they deliver the feelings and the atmosphere very easily and schematically. The good structure and the talent of the band regarding composing the tracks, have made them very interesting in an overall aspect, changing from warlike, destructive fast Black Metal to solid, atmospheric and fast Thrashy.
The guitars are the dominant instrument delivering every note with absolute accuracy but at the same time with passion and energy. The bass is audible, but you have to make an effort to distinguish its lines that they are quite technical and they fill the sound very well. The vocals in the bigger part of the album are harsh Black Metal vocals which are changed though depending on the atmosphere and the feeling of each moment. With their expressiveness and their passion, they make the compositions even more impressing and interesting. Drums have very interesting lines with stormy outbursts, beautiful turnings and powerful passages. The production is good putting out a warm and bass sound which fits to the style of the compositions.
The work that the band has done in this album is impressing and anyone can understand that here we have one of the best releases of 2014. If you haven’t understood until now by the description, the album is so good that every Black Metal fan must listen to it! Buy it!!

Evil Machine is created by non-random crewmembers from and old, Metal Guard: Hal (Vader), Cyjan (Dead Infection), Cyprian (Conquest Icon) of finally possessed by hell Seba Semihazah. On the recording session appeared also some well-known guests from Christ Aony, Behemoth and Vader! That smelling with hell’s stench album contains of ten destroying everything old-sounding compositions - 43 minutes of rotten sounded Death Metal with Thrash and Doom elements and the stale, old-fashioned atmosphere!!
There are a lot of memories from 80’s here: echoes of Celtic Frost, Hellhammer, old Kreator, Poison, Venom or Sodom. Gentlemen don’t try to be original, but they play what’s in their heart, and as they’re old veterans, so they’re totally into old Metal classics. Also surprising is very archaic, dirty sound. Material was recorded in different studios, but for the final mix in went to Hertz Studio, which is known from clear, sterile sounding productions. This time material haven’t been marked with this stigma and kept dirty, basement sound. In the semi moment it sounds very selective.
It’s also worth mentioning, that next to the author’s songs of band there are two marvelously played covers. First one is “Power From Hell” by Onslaught with total vocals of Peter (Vader), and second one, “Die Hard”, comes from repertoire of NWOBHM gods Venom. And also here band reduced to dust everything that’s holy.
Evil Machine released ass-kicking debut. Including members of Vader (Peter), Behemoth (Seth), Christ Agony (Cezar), ex- Hate (Cyprian Konador) and Dead Infection (Cyjan), this album will pleased all fans of old school Black/Death/Doom Metal, especially fans of Hellhammer and old Celtic Frost!!

Evil Masquerade is a Scandinavian band founded 2003 in Copenhagen by Swedish guitarist Henrik Flyman (Lacrimosa, ex-Wuthering Heights, ex-Moahni Moahna, ex-ZooL). Together with drummer Dennis Buhl (ex-Hatesphere), bass player Kasper Gram and vocalist Henrik Brockmann (ex-Royal Hunt) they set off to record the band's debut album that was released early 2004 under the name "Welcome To The Show". It almost immediately received worldwide recognition and made the charts in Japan at # 8. One year later, it was followed up with their second album, "Theatrical Madness".
A new singer Apollo Papathanasio (Spiritual Beggars, ex-Firewind, ex-Time Requiem) and bass player Thor Jeppesen entered the studio with Flyman and Buhl to record the album "Third Act". This album took the band to a new level of fame when it was re-released in 2007 in the USA, one year after the original release in Europe and Asia. The fourth studio album "Fade To Black" saw yet another change in the line-up, with only Henrik Flyman and Apollo Papathanasio remaining from the previous album. New members were drummer Daniel Flores (The Murder Of My Sweet, Mind’s Eye, Tears Of Anger, ZooL) and bass player Johan Niemann (Therion, Evergrey, Hubi Meisel, Demonoid, Mind’s Eye).
Flyman spent 2010 composing songs for the band's fifth album "Pentagram" that was released in May 2012. The recordings took place during 2011 and involved Flyman once again teaming up with the same members as on the band's third release: Papathanasio, Buhl and Jeppesen; together with the latest addition to the line-up, the band's first permanent keyboard player, Artur Meinild.
Songwriting and performances on "Pentagram" are significantly different from the prior albums. More specifically, the first few albums carried a melodic Euro Metal style, with Progressive hints and some Neoclassical influences, but "Pentagram" is a monster throwback to the early classic era of Metal. You can hear a lot of Dio, Sabbath, Deep Purple and Rainbow in the songs. It’s a striking difference, but an excellent collection.
One of the many highlights are the vocals of Apollo. His warm, full voice and impassioned delivery really bring back memories of when the singer voice had distinct qualities and singing ability, not just screaming. The twelve track album runs just over 40 minutes and the tempo is mid paced, leaning towards the slow side. The simple, elegant song construction allows individual performances' room to breath. It’s not a busy record full of orchestras, sound effects and dense layers by any means, it has a real stripped back early Metal vibe. Instead of a hundred riffs, Flyman picks some good ones and bolsters the songs with good choruses that are not too sickly sweet.
"Pentagram" is a great album, full of excellent songs and fine performances from Apollo, who never fails to impress.

Band name refers to the well-known drama-thriller film "Evilenko" that dedicated to famous Soviet serial killer Andrei Chikatilo.
Evilenko's debut album is a hybrid of grunting Death Metal and rhythmic Thrash Metal. While it doesn't do anything to re-invent the wheel or put Death-Thrash is new territory, the band does have a few tricks up its sleeve from being just another Legion Of The Damned clone. After a fast, upbeat churning introduction, the usual catchy chugs and grunts ensue with "My Own God". However, the real glory lies within the solo work as it has almost a completely different sound from what one would expect from typical Thrash Metal. Wavering, slow, and almost Doom Metal influenced, it will certainly draw fan attention and appreciation for stepping outside boundaries. Other tracks like "Leave You Behind" are a bit more Death Metal influenced with more of a standard chug and growl pace without so much the fast solos to mix up the song, but they still hold solid ground.
Here and there Evilenko will toss in a few politically charged spoken word samples, but they are so brief such as on "My Way" they don't really hold as much effect as one would have hoped, but still contribute to the overall message of "(disg)Race". "Fight For Justice" has one of the better lyrical deliveries and even throws in a few Hardcore elements with the backing 'gang chorus' that chimes in every once in a while, but to great effect. The closing "Bleeding" seems a bit rawer than its compatriots, making it seem like more of a demo track, but it still features some of the excellent guitar solo work that was heard on "My Own God".
Overall, the collection of tracks definitely makes a social statement that most Thrash Metal listeners will definitely look into with some curiousity. That's what the guitar solos are for! Good album!!

The drummer feels like he's just loose, chilling and flowing free behind the kit while the bass and guitar work together to bounce between Crunchy jams and Doomy power chord mashing. The flute shows up to float along and bounce over the jammy bits to provide some buzzchill. Everything is based on a slow rhythm and dark atmosphere, pretty sad mood. The highlights of the album are female vocals and flute parts, which add so much beauty and harmony to the creations and sound. In general, this isn’t your typical Stoner or even Doom Metal album – this is so much more, no matter if you see it as experimental, or just not an ordinary one. The tracks also have male growling vocals and more traditional Stoner riffs, but the entire album is full of those flute sounds and additional female vocals, and that’s harmony already.
The components of success of Evoke Thy Lords remain the same: groovy guitars and hypnotic flute delivered in a Psychedelic way. However, now the music contains even more Space, Trance and, of course, more Mushrooms! The band managed to successfully mix traditional features of the genre and something that could be alien here. However, everything fits really well. Some more original and interesting creativity could be welcome, but the band showed its high value with success. A beautiful and solid album, indeed – try it, as it’s not exactly what you could expect from the title of it…
