Then again, a mid-tempo song like "Exceso de Alcohol", is pure Heavy Metal, featuring, as all the songs do, Mario's amazing solo work. Adrian's raspy and screeching vocal style fits into the band's style like an armored fist fits into your ugly mouth.
Beyond doubt “Grito en el Abismo” is a really strong debut release in the flooding of new albums. The key to the success is their Metal feel to write pretty catchy and memorable songs. And what is more, this is not a retro record, it is a way different from all these Thrashing Blackers or Raw sounding pseudobands "reminding" of "old days of Metal". The album is coherent, all the elements (music, production, lyrics, even pictures from the booklet, you know, leathers and spikes rules!) create one inseparable unit. Debut full-length album by Turkish Progressive Metal band, with Turkish music influences.
The likes of Dream Theater and Fates Warning come to mind when listening to this album, but somehow these songs lack the certain accessibilty of those two bands. The songs have more than a few tempo changes, and you can never be sure what to expect. They may start like ballads, but halfway there they might turn into furious Metal numbers. The whole album might be a bit too hard to digest for the AOR purists, but if you enjoy the Progressive Metal of today, you must to check this band out!!

The debut full-length album by Italian Instrumental Rock/Fusion/Funk/Blues Metal band.
This band is a bit different from other Metal bands. This one is about a Metal-driven (or at least Rock-driven) effort to narrow the gap with other; let's say more "exotic" music genres.
This totally instrumental and above all honest attempt in mild-melding the listener contains elements borrowing from Blues, Rock 'n' Roll, Funk and even Jazz. It's up to you to decide whether you'll be receptive to these fusions or not.
On "Concept Project" this trio certainly had a crack at coloring outside the traditional lines. Or at least they tried to. The conceptual ideas and intentions behind this release are pretty decent.
The thing worth mentioning is the Mozart cover of "Turkish March". The whole thing got transformed into a "Rock March", with a bit of a Trans-Siberian Orchestra feel to it.
Very interesting album in all and it's worth your attention!

The second full-length studio album by British Doom/Death Metal band.
Consecration comes from Norwich, England. Their second full-length, “Fragilium”, stands out as one of the darker, and often times disturbing, Doom releases of the year.  It is an album that deeply embraces its own sound, and it is better for it. Of the five tracks that make up the album, only the opener “In Darkened Slumber” comes in under 10 minutes. The music is not in a hurry to get anywhere; rather, the band draws you into a netherworld where sounds drift like mist along a dark river.
The contrast between peace and disharmony is most clearly made by the vocals. Whenever these growling, guttural noises burst in, alongside slow to mid-tempo riffing and more aggressive percussion, the peaceful spell the band casts is broken. In some ways, this contrast the band plays with is a strength and adds colour to the songs, but while the simplicity of the calmer passages is effective in its soothing qualities.
Altogether it’s a case of an enjoyable, haunting journey, but a feeling that it could be something more.

Re-release of the third full-length album by Progressive Symphonic Power Metal project.
Originally released in 2003, "Terra Incoginita (The Undiscovered World)" saw vocalist Ian Parry (Elegy, Crystal Tears, Infinity Overture) once again team up with some of Metal's best musicians from Consortium Project mainstays in guitarist Stephen Lill (Vanden Plas), drummer Casey Grillo (Kamelot) and bassist Jan Bijlsma (Vengeance) and welcomed guest musicians Mike Chlasciak (Halford) and Sascha Paeth (Heaven’s Gate) to the band. The results were catastrophic. Worldwide air pollution and extremely low temperatures, forced the Neofems to seek permanent refuge. Communication with the outside world was no-longer possible. Cocooned in the safety of their biosphere, the planet continued through the centuries frozen in time.
Once again the cleverly constructed story is worked around accessible yet intricate music with a lot of character and expression, not to mention some fine virtuoso musical performances. Fans of Prog Power bands ala Vanden Plas, Kamelot, Conception and Symphony X will find a lot to like in "Terra Incognita" with its rich muscular backbone, fine riffs and attention grabbing Progressions, all coloured with Ian Parry’s vocals – arguably one of the most powerful and distinctive voices in Metal ever!!

The second full-length album by the Spanish Progressive Jazz/Fussion/Death Metal band.
There was a time when Metal bands infusing their music with Jazz, generally while performing with absurd technicality, was a unique and innovative twist, but now it’s essentially become another sub-genre. From Obscura to Blotted Science to a host of lesser known acts, Proggy Tech-Jazz is gaining prominence in the Metal Underground and landing on the radar of more than just those interested in the most obscure and inaccessible bands around. The Spanish trio of Continuo Renacer marries together technical, bass driven music with a serious dose of Jazz just as well as any band before it, all while offering much more interesting hooks than are usually heard in this style.
Besides doing the technical wankery thing, Continuo Renacer adds a little something extra on “The Great Escape” by gallivanting off with a variety of Avant-garde and Atmospheric flourishes. The opening title track weaves various samples of disconnected phone messages throughout the entire song, using them as a separate instrument to create music instead of just laying them down as an intro or interlude. “For Those Things to Come” takes a stylistic turn by bringing out the spacey and futuristic sounds, while the stuttering and repeating guitar work found on “Facing Fears” has an almost ‘core style breakdown attack.
The music is of course focused on the bass, which is Funky and Jazzy to the max, but the guitar frequently plays an incredibly important role of giving each song its own specific vibe. There are elements of Death Metal brutality, the occasional grandiose Power Metal flair, and even the rhythms of more Traditional Metal bands. Like with other bands in this experimental style, there is a tendency for some ideas and riffs to go on for a bit too long as the musicians work their ways across every note their instruments can offer. Thankfully it doesn’t drag the music down far, as there’s enough unique atmosphere and varying sounds that the album doesn’t come off as soulless technicality with no purpose.
The entirely instrumental “The Great Escape” works the Tech-Jazz-Prog trifecta from all angles and is an excellent addition to an Underground sub-genre working its way to the surface. Fans of Animals As Leaders, Odyssey or Obscura will find a lot to enjoy in these five offbeat tracks!
Another band throws its hat into the Jazzy and Technical Instrumental Metal ring, and it's a winner for fans of the style who like their music more Avant-garde!!

This Italian band has been active since 1999 and this is their debut album. They play a very decent form of Thrash/Death Metal with strong touches of Progressive stuff and melodic lines.
They sound very professional and also the album has interesting arrangements at guitars department. Also, they have huge influences from different sources and this denotes the eclecticism in composition. Album also appears aggressive/Ambient stuff, like “Arabian Chaos” (which is one of the oldest songs). Also, they take interesting risks like on tempo changes in “Chernobyl”, and the result is good and effective.
As aforementioned, the band sounds good, they definitely have talent and resources!

The debut full-length studio album by Swedish/Chilean Death/Thrash/Black Metal band.
Based in Dalarna, Sweden, the band was formed in the winter of 2016. The concept behind this unholy union is to glorify and pay tribute to the old and evil days of the Metal scene, such as South American and Australian madness and old, filthy and bleak Death and Black Metal in general. A Death Metal alliance from Swedish and Chilean musicians displaying influences from both, South American and European filthy scenes.
During all nine songs, the focus is on the riffs is the guitar work sounds like directly taken from the early eighties. If you like this kind of riffing, this album is pure hearing pleasure!
Regarding the songwriting, the songs develop more slowly, not too fast, although the speed paces up every time without tipping over to sheer blast beat frenzy.
An odd thing are the vocals, some kind of deep shouting, not grunts nor high shrieks. Instead, at some moments the vocalist uses some kind of clean singing / shouting, which Darkthrone used a lot during their latest releases. Since we all know Fenriz and Nocturno Culto are nowadays more influenced by eighties Metal than anything else, the name Corpsehammer should appear on the wish list of every fan of albums like “Old Star” or “Arctic Thunder”!!
For fans of Hellhammer, old Celtic Frost, Sarcofago, Communion, and last Darkthrone!!!

Tenth full-length album by legendary British Symphonic Black/Extreme Gothic Metal band.
A more reviled, deified, and overtly controversial group has yet to come from the primordial ooze of Metallic devolution. Cradle of Filth return with a new foray into a female based concept album and the formula - akin to “Cruelty And The Beast”- appears to be a winner. From 1994 till 2008 Cradle of Filth changed their style with every album they released. You cannot state that their first album resemblances “Dusk And Her embrace” or even “Cruelty And The Beast”. There is no band’s album in this time span that should be labeled as a copy cat of another, as their music progressed in such a manner that the term “Black Metal” doesn’t suit them by far. This album is yet another concept album and like their previous album, “Godspeed On The Devil's Thunder”, it is another step toward the mainstream. This album uses more tremolo picking, rather than power choral structure, however, so it is a step back toward the early days of Cradle of Filth.

This 2-CD release is the culmination of the band's 1997-2002 era. This special album features 24 classic Cradle tracks, with over 143 minutes of music, including a left-handful of exclusive special tracks and mixes. This album described in Dani Filth's sleeve notes as "a favored grimoire of tracks coupled with the rare and unreleased; rather a “mess of” than a “best of”..." It was one of two Cradle of Filth records released in 2002 (the other being “Live Bait for the Dead”) and was de-signed to round off Cradle of Filth's contract with Music for Nations before their short-lived signing to Sony Records.
Disc one ("Lovecraft") consists of album tracks from their Music For Nations back catalogue. Re-release of the fourth full-length album by the legendary British Symphonic Gothic Black Metal band.
England's most notorious Metal band has returned with Chapter V - "Midian". Album was released on Halloween, 31 October. This album greatly differs to that of other Black Metal albums. It holds some unique characteristics and brings a new concept. It does not talk about vampires, but a place where demons, fallen angels, and monsters dwell, an idea whose origins come from the Old Testament. At the time it was considered their most commercial and accessible album to date.
The album marks the return of Paul Allender to the band, as well as the introduction of Adrian Erlandsson (At The Gates, The Haunted, Paradise Lost) and Martin Powell (My Dying Bride) and a shift towards a Thrash/Death Metal guitar sound, while still retaining that totally unique Cradle Of Filth’s individuality. It’s a good display on the heaviness achieved in the record. The lead riffs and high pitched vocals are more apparent than ever, but the band seems to mold them into a heavier sound seamlessly. "Her Ghost in the Fog" spawned a music video, which received heavy rotation on MTV2 and other rock channels, and was directed by Alex Chandon (who also directed the 2001 horror film “Cradle of Fear” in which Dani Filth appeared).
The band pulled itself together after what must have been the worst time for Cradle Of Filth ever; the new line-up rocks and "Midian" is an impressive addition to the saga! Dark, heavy and aggressive album!!

The third full-length album by the Swedish Glam Metal band.
Over the last few years or so, it seems that Sweden – traditionally known for its contribution to the more Extreme realms of Metal – has experienced somewhat of a Hair Metal revival. Some of it has been quite horrible, however, quite a lot of it has been beyond excellent; and falling into this later camp, along with veterans Harcore Superstar and the insanely awesome Crashdiet, is Malmo’s Crazy Lixx. The band’s third album, doesn’t quite match up to their previous offering, the outstanding "New Religion" (2010), but that’s only because that album was so damn good, and otherwise "Riot Avenue" is another great release from one of the scene’s best and most exciting bands. 
"Riot Avenue," for all its gloss and polish, sees the band taking a much more reserved, Bluesy, Hard Rock approach to their music, as opposed to the huge Bubblegum, Pop-Metal anthems of "New Religion" and "Loud Minority." AC/DC seems to be of particular influence, specifically on “Young Blood” and “In The Night", whose main riff and bass break may as well have been lifted directly from “Let there Be Rock". All the while though, the Swedes blend this new aesthetic with their tried and true, Mötley Crüe, Punk Rock, street imagery and Def Leppard quality song writing and production to create something that is at once so camp and so sincere. The songs are, for the most part, entirely predictable and beyond overblown.
There’s just so much energy and excitement packed into the album, that the familiar predictability of the songs actually works to its advantage; continuously titillating the listener while all the time guaranteeing a huge, if comfortable, payoff. 
"Riot Avenue" may not be the most creative or original of releases, but it isn’t meant to be. What it’s meant to be is a celebration of this kind of music and above all fun, and in this respect it delivers in spades. If you’ve ever enjoyed anything by Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Skid Row or anything of that ilk, then "Riot Avenue" is not to be missed!!
