The third full-length studio album by Canadian Death/Thrash Metal band.
Riotor's third album is no other than a re-recorded version of their second album, "Rusted Throne", with a new vocalist Mikalcoholic and a new mastering.
Re-recording a whole album is a tricky move for every band. Whether it's one trying to prove they're still young (Diamond Head, Flotsam & Jetsam), one wanting to soften the distrust towards their new member (Exodus), or one who just can't sleep at night knowing that one detail on their album doesn't work (Meshuggah), one thing for sure is that the audience will rarely welcome them with open arms. Riotor fell somewhere between the latter two categories when, in 2017, amazingly decided to re-record their two-years-old LP "Rusted Throne" from 2015. Bassist Mikalcoholic stepped in behind the mic, so original screamer Ismarevil is, at last, comfortably resting his uvula...
Where does "Cursed Throne" differ? Besides the fact that the closer "Triumph of Sorrow" is absent for some reason, and this version includes a new mastering which emphasizes the old-school sound even more (absolute plus), the obvious difference is the voice, which is a more standard Black/Death-oriented rasp (think of a cross between names such as Okkulto and K.K. Warslut). So, it's depends on you which version you prefer to listen. Probably, for the start, better to check both...

Debut full-length album by Italian Thrash Metal band.
When you think of Italy you mainly think of Power Metal, but, fortunately, Italy isn’t only about that. Thrash has a big history upon Italian soil and Rising Dark are part of that! Fresh out the Thrash Master class, Italy’s Rising Dark are indeed a dark horse, where this band have been hiding?! This Thrash monster resides somewhere between some of Testament’s greatest output and modern day Onslaught!!
They were formed in 2005, initially covering Metallica songs (now why does that sounds so familiar?) and then begun to write their own material. In 2008 they released their first demo and afterwards did many gigs. “Apocalyptic” is their first full length release, which features seven songs.
The main characteristic of the album is the heavy sound, even in the parts where it isn’t fast. Although it is mainly Thrash Metal the album leans many times towards Power Metal and other times towards Crossover/Trash, with breakdowns and cutting edge riffs. After a nice atmospheric track there is “Armageddon” and here one gets a pretty good picture of what the band is playing: fast tempos, heavy riffs and some nice technical solos. “This is War” is a heavy track with groovy elements, up-tempo but not extremely fast. “The Bofoid” is the longest track, almost eight minutes, and this means room for diversity: many tempo changes, Thrash alternates with Hardcore, clean vocals with brutal and heavy riffs with technical solos (the band definitely has a thing for them). Next , there  the realm of Lovecraft, with the song “Yog Sothoth”, that kicks in slowly and atmospherically and continues with clean and brutal vocals (nice clean vocal melodies here). Towards the middle things heat up, but only for a while before the song resumes the initial rhythm. “Your Blood Is On My Hands” is the Thrash-iest song, with, heavy riffs and a fast tempo, almost throughout the album, and a nice guitar solo. The last song, “Phoenix” is a six and a half minute ballad that even it is nice it could have been shorter.
Although “Apocalyptic” doesn’t really offer something new to the Heavy Metal world, it is well played with a nice production and songs that will stick to mind. Rising Dark have all the means of greater releases in the future and you should keep an eye on them!!

The fourth full-length album by Japanese Thrash Metal band.
Following an extended three-year break that left a good many fans worried about the band's future, Japanese-American thrashers Ritual Carnage eventually returned with their fourth album in 2005. Of course, the band's sonic assault isn't entirely retro, but rather founded on the genre's hallowed origins, and then pushed to overdrive by modern studio technology for a sludgy, almost Death Metal-like wall of sound, never dreamt of by the original Bay Area bands. But make no mistake, regardless of their occasional mislabeling under the "Death" column, Ritual Carnage are a True Thrash band in most every way!!
Dan Montgomery's new "singing" technique might be an acquired taste, but there's no denying that its nasal, atonal shouting quality - in a John Connelly (Nuclear Assault) or Sean Killian (Vio-Lence) mold - is perhaps even more legitimately old-school Thrash than his former Chuck Billy (Testament) growl. No guarantees, in other words, where that item is concerned, but plenty of them when it comes to the cleverly named Eddie Van Koide's frenzied riffs, some of which are so damn great they'd make Slayer jealous. As for the overall grade of "I, Infidel", the massive display of Thrash Metal riffing it contains is unquestionably impressive. Instrumentally, this album is one of the strongest Thrash albums of the year. The variety among the tracks is impressive on its own, and everything is very well-executed. The guitar lines are particularly bold, experimenting with different moods, styles and cadences while never losing a deep, Death Metal edge; the solos are also a good display of skill from Eddie Van Koide and Wataru Yamada. And Naoya Hamaii's drumming is a wide-ranging and solid base.
This is true excellent release! Recommended for fans of early Testament!!

If Thrash Metal was a religion, so this stuff was obviously not for the infidels. And, there's no place for the infidels to enjoy this blessed-creation, unless they swear to repent, re-baptize themselves, and revert to the right path of Thrash soul!!!

Ritual Carnage is a band with roots both in Florida and Japan, and is similar to old Speed Metal like Kreator, Sodom and Destruction, as well as U.S. Thrash like Testament and Exodus. Band returns with a new album that will as usual kick your ass and make you feel like headbanging for a few hours! Still, and that might be a surprise for many of you, the Ritual Carnage of "The Birth Of Tragedy" is not the same band as the Ritual Carnage of "The Highest Law" or "Every Nerve Alive" anymore!! When it comes about guitars, drums and production, the difference is not huge and you still have that good old Thrash Metal-spirit full of energy. What makes Ritual Carnage change is that Damian has not the same voice anymore. The time when he used his fat and raw Death Metal-voice is over, now he's got an almost clear voice, a bit a la TESTAMENT a few years ago… all in all Damian is evolving in the opposite way than Chuck Billy).
And the whole thing gives an album that you'd swear has been written in the first half of the 90's, in the vein of some Thrash a la Forbidden, but ten times better! And of course, as in the past, they have also recorded a cover, here of "Infernal Death" from Death!
But that’s not all folks, because limited edition digipack contains two bonus tracks!!

The debut full-length studio album by American Death/Thrash Metal band.
Rhode Island’s Ritual Sacrifice was formed in 1988 and released five demos from 1989 to 1994. The band recorded their debut, "When Hope Is Pain", in 1995, which meant to be released the same year on Massacre Records. Unfortunately, it remained unreleased because the label decided to focus on different music styles than what the band was playing. "When Hope Is Pain" went unreleased until 2018, when the band made it available digitally. Guitar player Mike Longworth played with Prong for 15 years (as bass player), after Ritual Sacrifice split up in 1996.
"When Hope Is Pain" contains 13 furious and rather Technical Thrash Metal songs. The album relies on the excellent 90s atmosphere and constructs an almost technical oriented approach, with one of the tightest rhythm sections, which is sonically perfect across the entire album. The solos are melodic, peaking with each passing track, and executed with a charming precision. The vocals employ a standard approach, but on the whole the delivery is very Kelly Shaefer’esque, and it works beautifully on this record. 
Ritual Sacrifice has always been compared to bands as Cynic and False Prophet and of course Slayer and Dark Angel. If you like Death Metal even remotely, or a-la Slayer Thrash Metal, you need to check this release out immediately! Recommended, do get a copy!!

The third EP by the cult Japanese Thrash Metal band.
Japanese Thrashers Riverge undoubtedly love to Thrash and preferably the old-school way, to be accurate. It's quite unbelievable when you realize Riverge formed way back in 1985. They released a couple of cassette demos and appeared on a few compilations then went dark for 20 years until their first proper album, "Rebirth Of Skull", was rele ased in 2009.
Another full-length and a split brings up to their most recent release, 2013's 7-track EP titled "Back'Th'Rash". Riverge's stuff sounds like S.O.D. meets Slayer. Their Thrash comes across fast and furious, a crisp, heavy, violent attack and, best of it all, it also sounds amazingly well done. Riverge's vocalist Shoji Nakamura has a vocal tone that is similar to Tom Araya in his later years (no high-pitched screams or anything like that).
Original “Back'Th'Rash” features re-recorded materials of 1987 original 7" EP "Do A Threat For Eye" plus first time recording of '80s written song, as well as two new tracks.

The ninth full-length album by the legendary Melodic Hard Rock/AOR singer.
Robin Beck is full of surprises with her new album "Underneath". She allowed for some new writers to submit material to her this time. It was a great decision on her part, because she was “blown away” by what she found. This combination seems to be doing quite well for this Rock and Roll woman.
This album can also be considered somewhat of a family affair. Her husband and daughter also are a part of this album. Her husband, James Christian, is producing this album and duets with her on “Burnin’ Me Down.” Her daughter, Liv Beck, also does some vocal work on this album. They seem to be a musical family, and that works in Robin Beck’s favor. This album is definitely going to make an impact for female musicians everywhere, because of the prominent female voice that keeps staying alive in Rock music today.
Each song packs a punch of good vocal range and music that follows the lead. The album starts with “Wrecking Ball” and the title does the song justice. There is a riff that starts the track off with a build of energy. There is definitely a foot-tapping pattern that quickly develops with this album.
Outbursts of finger drumming are something that is a must when listening to this album. There are songs that really make typical anthems seem humdrum. Many of the songs have a call to action type of feel, so they evoke oomph immediately. “Sprain” is a great example of an action-bringing song.
Some of these songs have a bit of a Country meets Rock feeling, but that isn’t a bad thing. It works well for this album. The ’80s can be heard in her voice and the guitar riffs as well, but it seems to work. There is a unique sound with her voice that doesn’t sound like every other angry female-fronted band on the radio. There are a variety of sounds to look forward to on this album. “I Swear the Nights” is soulful and sultry, but it keeps the Rock factor easily. It works so well and sounds so right.
The collaboration that takes place on this album was an amazing decision on Beck’s part. The music, the vocals, and the lyrics work so well with each other. This album has not dull moments and is refreshing in a summer riddled with breakup songs and furious female vocalists!

The 24rd British and 26th American full-length studio album by legendary British Rock band.
Band's first studio album in over a decade, "Blue & Lonesome" takes the band back to their roots and the passion for Blues music, which has always been at the heart and soul of The Rolling Stones. "Blue & Lonesome" sees the Rolling Stones tipping their hats to their early days as a Blues band when they played the music of Jimmy Reed, Willie Dixon, Eddie Taylor, Little Walter and Howlin’ Wolf – artists whose songs are featured on this album.
The Blues is where it all began for Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, especially Chicago Blues. When Jagger and Richards began their friendship anew, they had run into each other on a train, Jagger carrying a Chess Records album of Muddy Waters and Chuck Berry. And yes, they and the rest of the lads would later discover the magnificence and wonder that is Robert Johnson‘s legacy of brilliance and beauty, but Chicago Blues has ever held sway in their hearts.
The album was produced by Don Was and The Glimmer Twins and was recorded over the course of just three days in December 2015 at British Grove Studios in West London, just a stone’s throw from Richmond and Eel Pie Island where the Stones started out as a young Blues band playing pubs and clubs. Their approach to the album was that it should be spontaneous and played live in the studio without overdubs. The band – Mick Jagger (vocals & harp), Keith Richards (guitar), Charlie Watts (drums), and Ronnie Wood (guitar) were joined by their long time touring sidemen Darryl Jones (bass), Chuck Leavell (keyboards) and Matt Clifford (keyboards) and, for two of the twelve tracks, by old friend Eric Clapton, who happened to be in the next studio making his own album.
This album is manifest testament to the purity of their love for making music, and the Blues is, for the Stones, the fountainhead of everything they do! Those that are about Chicago Blues, need not hesitate. This album is calling you!! Those who wondered when the Stones would record an album worthy of themselves, wonder no more. "Blue & Lonesome" belongs on every Chicago Blues and Rolling Stones lover!!!

Re-release of the seventh full-length studio album by cult Czech Epic Heavy/Black Metal band.
The seventh album from cult gods Root is a bit of a step back, but after the incredible "Black Seal" anybody would be hard pressed to come up with an equally amazing CD. Root have been following killer album after killer album. And if we can say this album is not quite as good as albums like "The Book" or "The Temple In The Underworld", this is still a great album.
Root is one of those bands that don't sound like anyone else, because they are not followers of a sound, but originators. There are elements of Doom, Thrash, early Black Metal like Bathory, Progressive Rock, Atmospheric music, and ever swing. This album is a lot less Metal than previous albums, but still stomps most modern bands' asses like they were smurfs, and it only sounds less heavy in comparison with the bonecrushing "Temple In The Underworld". The melodies are a lot more accessible on this disc, and Big Boss has flavored his vocal lines with swing and big band influences.
This album is the most weird and eclectic Root material to date, and it travels from Doomy riffs to Thrashy, to Atmospheric interludes and delicate melodies. In some places, the melodies don't seem to quite work, even in the context of Root's already twisted soundscape.
So, this is another fine Root CD. The performances are spot on, and some of the songs are excellent, but here Root seem to have gotten a little too weird for their own good. All that aside, this is still a very good album, and it only pales in comparison to their other material. A worthy album from a singular and iconoclastic band!!

Second full-length album by guitarist Ross "the Boss" Friedman (ex- Manowar) and his German Heavy/Power Metal band.
Following 2008's debut "New Metal Leader", the second album by former Manowar guitarist Ross the Boss Friedman, offers another thundering dose of Power Metal of more or less the same type his former bandmates used to make, minus the pompous epics that have clogged their latter-day (i.e. after he quit the band) work. This shouldn't come as a surprise, since the band he's using (vocalist/guitarist Patrick Fuchs, bassist Carsten Kettering, and drummer Matthias Mayer) were a Manowar cover band in their native Germany before being recruited to back him at a festival. So they've got the anthemic, screaming-guitars sound down to a T, and Ross' brutarian, Rock-informed leads (which gave Manowar's first six albums a bite that their later albums, which stole more from classical music, lacked) cut through everything like a pavement saw.
This is fist-pumping Metal, with catchy choruses, high-pitched screams, and thunderous drumming, and the lightning-speed riffing of the title track is proto-Thrash not unlike Accept's "Fast as a Shark" or early-'80s Judas Priest at their most hell-for-leather! Old-school Metal fans will find much to love here, and younger listeners could learn a lot about the genre's roots, and its true heart, from Ross the Boss and band!!

The second full-length album by russian Folk/Thrash/Black Metal band.
Melodic Black Metal with some Death Metal elements, from members of Russian bands Arkona, Mental Home and label cheaf of More Hate Productions! Rossomahaar started back in 1995 to prove to the whole world that Russia is capable of giving birth to Black Metal bands. In 1997 they released their first full-length album "Grotesque" on MC, by R.I.P. Productions.
The compositions in “Imperium Tenebrarum” all are well thought-through and structured. The guitars in this album are good and has catchy riffs. There are a few Heavy Metal riffs in there. The keyboards are cute and give a nice atmosphere. The drummer knows what he is hitting there on his drumset. The bass is great! The vocals is typical Black Metal vocals with no variations (except for one or two parts where Lazar does some clean vocals).
The cover-version of Metallica's "The Call Of Ktulu" presented here with band's own lyrics, and here and there a slightly more free interpretation. This song is called "Portals Of Chaos (The Final Transmigration)".
Grim and symphonic, heavy and melodic, this is an album that musically could just as well have come from Norway and which should satisfy every fan of Melodic Black Metal! If you're a Black Metal fan go buy their album, you'll like it!!
