The first re-release of the eighth full-length studio album by legendary Portuguese Gothic Metal band.
Moonspell were among the founders and foremost protagonists of that style during the nineties. Like the Portuguese metropolis, "Night Eternal" is riddled by a multitude of alleys and places. Moonspell's city of Lisbon and their new album share a wise and experienced beauty as well as the opposing principles of heat and cold, life and death, severity and gentleness, male strength and female magic. 
"Night Eternal" continues the trend of Moonspell revisiting their original heavy roots, much like they did on 2006’s "Memorial" and 2003’s "The Antidote". While "Memorial" was an overall heavy album with slowing down in tempo solely in atmospheric instrumental tracks, "Night Eternal" shuns purely instrumental interludes but rather focuses on creating variation within the individual tracks. This works brilliantly, and while "Memorial" became predictable at times because of a lack of changes in tempo and heaviness, "Night Eternal" is all the more captivating and beautiful when Moonspell holds back a little yet more crushing than ever before when they go full-throttle. This resulted in "Night Eternal" being received well overall by international music critics and managing to reach both Portuguese and French album charts.
Moonspell have re-discovered themselves once more and still found a way back to their origins. They continue to couple the fire within their souls with poetic emotionality, a gentle touch of the erotic, as well as a distinct melancholic mood.
Fully remastered by Tue Madsen, extended version re-release includes three bonus tracks.

The second re-release of the third full-length studio album by legendary Portuguese Gothic Metal band.
"Sin / Pecado" became the great divider of Moonspell "wolfpack". Produced by their long time companion, Waldemar Sorychta, the songs of this “accursed” album were signs of a rebellion of the band against the sound that made them famous in the scene. Instead of wolves and vampires, Moonspell set the compass to songs filled with Electronica and Dark Wave moods that talked about the European Community or the love for a woman.
Frontman Fernando Ribeiro says: "There was true creative anguish burning inside us in 1997, after we were done with the endless "Irreligious"’ tours, that created the perfect (shit)storm that would be "Sin". It was a strange year for us. Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride were letting loose and seemed to be also under the same mood as we did, or vice versa. It doesn’t matter. Metal was turning its wheel, and we’re all on the falling side. We took the fall and enjoyed doing it anyway. It wasn’t Moses dividing the waters, but it did sometimes hurt to feel alone. Curiously, a lot of other people entered "Sin"’s mood a couple of years later, and now they beg of us to play those songs live. If you’re reading this and need another taste of "Sin", let’s indulge each other and pick up that "Second Skin" from the late-nineties deep closet!" 2019 brings us a new chance to take the sinful cup to our lips and see if that red wine has aged better or tastes sweeter than more than twenty years ago…

In the ever Scandinavian-obsessed climate of the early to mid-90’s, album like "Wolfheart" were incredibly important, as they made a bold and defiant statement that there were bands from other countries singing about their own culture and rich folkloric history in pride and passion.
It's funny how, at such an early stage of their career, a band, from a country with a relatively unknown metal presence, can change their sound, and not only succeed, but make one of Metal's unique records. This is a vast departure from the morbid Occult Black Metal with Arabic influences showcased in their earlier "Under The Moonspell" EP, instead delving deeper into the newly-born Gothic Metal sound and its aesthetics. The black metal is still present, though, but in a more melodic form, not unlike the one of the Greeks Rotting Christ (which, casually, would start their turn towards the Gothic side of the Metal spectrum one year after this was released), in the form of tremolo-picked riffs and harsh vocals, and the Folk elements are not quite the ethnic and Arabic influences of the EP, instead using flutes and cleanly sung vocals, thus having a more native (at times, bordering on Celtic) feel. Those influences are in perpetual clash with the Goth Rock influences, like the emotional, bordering on melodramatic baritone vocal performance (with spoken parts) and the abundance of ethereal synths which are the main contributors to the eerie, Dark, Gothic-Horror themed atmosphere of the music. There are some female vocals too, but, they are used not in the obnoxious 'Beauty-and-the-Beast' way, but as background vocals, for most of the time.
"Wolfheart" is a high watermark in modern Lusitanian musical culture, and it's highly recommended for people who have an interest in actual Goth Metal, which can keep a sinister vibe! A wild (midnight) ride!!

Official re-release of the debut full-length album by Belarusian Atmospheric Doom Metal band.
This Belarusian 4-piece act has earned its own place among those "cool new band discoveries" for sure. The band's 7-song debut was originally self-released in December 2011, with 8 songs (including an instrumental version of "My 7even"). The label More Hate Productions has dropped off this instrumental tune from this re-release, which they obviously had well-grounded reasons for. Nevertheless, MoonWay plays crispy, keyboard/piano-laden Doom Metal that has a lot of sticking, dreamy atmosphere and enough heaviness overall to appeal to fans of more Extreme Metal.
Vocalist Conner Lemac's deep and guttural Death grunts are also pretty impressive, performed nearly the same way as Tomi Koivusaari on Amorphis' first two albums. Also the guitar sound holds a lot of ruthless heaviness and crispness in them, supporting MoonWay's efforts in making beautifully flowing, crushing and pretty hopeless-sounding Doom Metal, with some slight Death Metal overtones. Female vocalist Rusana's guest appearance on the song "Time Stops Here" also works well on the whole, bringing in welcome lightness and just a little bit of beauty to the record.
My 7even is also blessed with a very good and clear production, sort of to optimize the band's attempts to be heard among bigger crowds as well. Not essential, but still a very good album all in all!!

Remastered re-release of the debut full-length studio album by legendary German Death Metal band.
With their promising EPs "Resurrection Absurd" and "The Eternal Fall", released in 1989 and 1990, Morgoth stood in the shadow of their big idols Death and the uprising European force Pestilence. In 1991, they tried to step out of this shadow by releasing a full-length album with a Doomier approach. "Cursed" belongs to the good and worthy products of a time when Death Metal was both Brutal and Melodic, without needing cheesy categorizations such as "Brutal Death Metal" or "Melodeath". To promote the album, the band supported Kreator and Biohazard on a US tour and another European tour with Immolation and Massacre.
Before Morgoth wandered into Progressive Death Metal on "Odium", then to Alternative Metalcore/Techno on the "Feel Sorry For The Fanatic", they were a good Death Metal band in the veins of Obituary and Death. They used a bit of that weird Possessed riffing and the Beccarra "glass gargling" vocals, but these guys were quite a bizarre entity. And that's just why they're so good.
The band split up in 1998, but reunited in 2010. In May 2018, the band announced that they would go on hold following their performance at the Chronical Moshers Open Air on June 8th, 2018. On December 17th, 2020, via the band's Facebook page, Morgoth announced that they were splitting up for good.

Re-release of the debut full-length album by British AOR/Melodic Hard Rock band.
One of the UK's cult lost bands of the AOR era returns with a brand spanking new 12-track album, featuring impressively, and the same lineup that recorded during the mid 80s!
First noticeable difference here obviously is the slightly more guitar orientated, less 80's keyboard sound that they went with previously. Think about a more punchy, less keyboard orientated 101 South and also the excellent Virginia Wolf in spots as well, for a rough idea.
For a self-produced disc this sounds quite good too, a nice punchy live sound with some nice keys, subtle solos and a generally good vocals throughout.
Led by guitarist Greg Heart, Moritz was active during the mid 80s having released an EP "Shadows Of A Dream " in 1986 (that was re-released in 2008, with the four other tracks from 1988, as a “City Streets” CD). Yet unable to secure a recording contract the group disbanded, while shortly after Greg re-emerged with female fronted melodic Hard Rock/Glam Metal outfit If Only. In 2008 Hart released his solo project album under the name "Hartless" followed by Moritz demos a year later which subsequently led to the reformation of the group that entered the studio in 2010.
The band have remained true to their original sound featuring subtle rhythm section, infectious guitar, keyboard melodies and sing-along choruses. The majority of the album has been written by Greg Hart and Pete Scallan while the production is handled by Marty Wells and Greg. It has to be addressed that the mixing and mastering of the album sounds really old-school, definitely ‘80s style yet, not so extravagant. Imagine a similar sound production to Whitesnake’s "Slide". Following a four-year break since the previous album, masters of blackened melody adjust their direction, bidding farewell to linear nineties tradition and greeting the new millennium with a much more refined, diverse, ambitious, bombastic and orchestral approach.
The band's third record was recorded in the legendary Grieghallen Studios in Bergen, Norway and produced by Norwegian producer Pytten (Mayhem, Burzum, Emperor).
Taking a more orchestral approach with epic arrangements and longer songs, this album is seem as the most bombastic of the band’s discography to date, culminating with the incorporation of Mozart's "Lacrimosa" in the song "The Menace". Vocal variety adds in more menacing, darker vibe, not so uncommon in Death Metal too. Add to that some acoustic breaks, Heavy Metal solos, not to forget trademark infernal riffing, and you get a picture of what to expect from this quite underrated release, standing in league with latter Diabolical Masquerade opuses.
"Maelstrom Chaos" is a stand-out release due to its sheer brutality combined with solid songwriting and very deep melodic feeling. There is a huge ability to mix speed and brutality with atmosphere and melody, something very difficult to achieve if you are not a capable musician, and here we have a top-notch executed album!

The debut full-length studio album by cult Swedish Melodic Black Metal band.
Although they've wallowed in the shadows of better-known Scandinavian bands like Emperor and Dimmu Borgir due to inferior promotion and internal problems, Sweden's Mörk Gryning have accomplished quite a bit over the course of their four-album career. Like these and other champions of that region's exciting local scene, Mörk Gryning's core creative duo of Goth Gorgon and Draakh Kimera meld Death and Black Metal with a vast array of less obvious styles: Industrial, Doom, Symphonic, and even more traditional Thrash Metal riffing among them. While proving somewhat difficult to digest at times, this eclectic sonic soup is certainly never boring, and often downright thrilling.
Opener "The Sleeping Star", for instance, smacks of Swiss Death Metal Industrialists Samael jamming with Paradise Lost, while the furiously paced Black Metal of "The Cradle of Civilization" bridges the gap between Dimmu's complex orchestrations and Marduk's straightforward bludgeoning before descending into a delicately mournful, string quartet-led coda. The same variety of disparate stylistic tricks permeates the reigning, primal aggression underpinning every single song that follows, be it the hypnotically organic grooves of "Our Urn", the dense harmonies and ambient nuances of "An Old Man's Lament", the fancy-free power chords and chorused vocals of "The Worm", or even the Gothic overtones and Baroque keyboards heard on "Fragments and Pieces". Simply put, the resourceful invention to be found on "Pieces Of Primal Expressionism" can easily challenge any and all of Mörk Gryning's competition in modern Extreme Metal.

While much debated at the time of its release in 2003, "Pieces Of Primal Expressionism" is now regarded as the band’s most daring and experimental release.
Recorded and produced with David Bergstrand and Örjan Örnkloo (Meshuggah, Devin Townsend, In Flames, Dark Funeral), the Swedes built a gargantuan wall of sound with disharmonic clusters, resulting in a record that was very different from the band’s previous material.
"Pieces Of Primal Expressionism" was ultimately nominated for an award on the Swedish national radio and is a key step in the evolution of the band’s sound and discography.
