Hailing from São Paulo, Brazil, band was emerged in 1982 with the name of Milky Way. With the line-up renewed, Harppia entered studio in 1985 to record their debut mini-album, "A Ferro E Fogo" (The Iron And Fire), which was released by Baratos Afins.
In the following years, each of the members decided to take different routes, since each one wanted to change the musical style of the band. Only Tiberius remained and continued with Harppia.
In 1987, the debut full-length album, "7", was released by Rock Brigade Records.
In 1996, in a new line-up, band started recording a second album, this time with English lyrics. "Harppia's Flight" was released by Megahard Records in 1997. It includes 7 new tracks + 6 instrumental bonus tracks. This re-release contains the same material with 3 more added bonus tracks.
Tracks 08-13 were recorded at Nota Por Nota Studio, Sao Paulo, Brazil, between 1995-1996.

Track 16 were recorded live at Arthur Azevedo Theatre, Sao Paulo, Brazil, between 4 and 8 March, 1987.

The fourth full-length album by the German Melodic Hard Rock/AOR band.
The Hartmann records are full of tasty but quite slow paced AOR or even Classic Rock songs, very different from our every day galloping Epic Power Metal or Neo-Classic Metal. For the fourth album, it's once again the same case, but the voice of Hartmannis also much more in the forefront and he sounds more powerful than in the previous CDs, much more like his Genius or Eempty Tremors (Oliver Hartmann's past bands) days. Anyway, the third album was disappointing; this "Balance" is his best solo album. The title fits quite well with the musical concept. Indeed well balanced. The band Hartmann plays like a real band, and the chemistry-team here isn’t fake, the sincerity is obvious and pretty clear as the sound of this album is organic and spontaneous. The production and the mix are in the same juicy manner with a full spectrum, thanks to Sascha Paeth’s magic.
The very Zen and confined ambiance of numbers like “From a Star” or “Fall From Grace” is opposed to some more hot rocking tracks but still with a feeling of maturity and an absolute melodic control sensation.
Best tracks are "Like A River", "Fool for You", "After the Love Has Gone" or "Save Me". Others great songs: "You Are the One", "The Best Is Yet To Come" or "All My Life" that are more direct but still entertaining.
The word AOR could divert some, but here you can read Adult Oriented Rock with a big "A", no cheesy chorus with cheap bontempi keyboards in calibrated 3 minutes tracks, but a real Classic Melodic Hard Rock in the best way of the word, with some contemporary touch.

German rock singer Oliver Hartmann delivered one of the surprise packages of 2005, with a thoroughly enjoyable album of powerful and emotional Melodic Hard Rock.
"Home" and it's another great Hard Rocking collection of music showcasing his emotional and powerful vocal style. Delivered with a passion and raw emotional edge, band still manages to be very consistent and of unquestionably high standards. The album sounds awesome with great performances by everyone especially the rocking guitars and solos. The production is excellent and sounds huge coming out of a good set of speakers. Hartmann's voice is very smooth yet dramatic and is very similar in tone to Eric Martin from Mr Big.
Highlights include the melodic rocker "Coming Home To You", the heavy and groovy "Higher Than Me" with a killer guitar solo, the chorus hook of the epic ballad "I Don't Want To Know", and the heartfelt sentiment of "My Everything" which is a very memorable power ballad.
"Home" is another strong release from Hartmann. It was always going to be hard to match the sensational debut, especially when so much emotion was poured into that. But this comes close. It isn't helped by a questionable song running order, but the consistency in songwriting and strong performances still make it an album very worth checking out!!

The architects of this new temple of Death Metal, "Epilogue Of Masquerade", used the correct formulas to build something that will stand the strongest earthquakes. This trio have a 16-year experience with in the pocket, a demo and an album called "Coils Of The Consumed Paradise", released in 2010.
Hateful plays Technical Death Metal without going into the hyper-mode. It’s keeping it relatively restrained, about the music, focusing on the thorough execution of every section than just overdoing everything. The riffs are fleshed out, and it takes more than a few listens to fully get them – it’s quite intricate and the song structures are bizarre because it’s not in the conventional format. It mixes up things quite a bit and it’s like piles of riffs buried over each other, pummeling pulsating drumming decorates the mess and the vocals are restrained yet again, keeping it straightforward.
This is an album for listeners, although first appearances aren’t unimpressive either. Production-wise everything is clear and strong, robust and the artwork is fairly striking in its elegance.
With a Brutal and Technical trend at the same time, "Epilogue Of Masquerade" deserves your attention and accolades because it’s doing it in the classiest way possible!!

Headhunter were founded by Schmier in 1989, after he was fired from Destruction. Second famous person in the band is Jörg Michael (Living Death, ex-Avenger, ex-Axel Rudi Pell, ex-Grave Digger, ex-Mekong Delta, ex-Onkel Tom Angelripper, ex-Rage, ex-Running Wild, ex-Saxon, ex-Stratovarius). And the third musician is Uwe "Schmuddel" Hoffmann.
"A Bizarre Gardening Accident" is a damn fine technically infuriating, fast Thrash Metal album, that continues to expand the work begun with the debut, "Parody Of Life". The band offers explosive, melodic Thrash in the vein of Destruction, with a dozen or so riffs to die for. But what surprised is that the band are also quite good at slower fare, with a more Traditional Metal gate.
It's amazing to think that while his alma mater, Destruction, was withering into a cesspool of misled ideas and pathetic execution, Schmier was excelling in his new home. However, we should also extend credit to the other musicians here, who are quite excellent on their own. Michael needs no introduction, perhaps, but Schmuddel is simply an ace, a riff wizard whose presence lightens each composition into the rugged bliss so enjoyable in German Thrash and Speed Metal.
If you like Schmier, and you like fun, then by all means check this out!!

A decent enough Heavy/Power Metal act with the various style. Boasting a more straightforward approach and slightly edged vocals that show no inherent weakness in either the low or high register, "Fallout Diaries" eventually won over with its differentiated composition and a number of catchy mid-tempo tracks.
The "Fallout Diaries" is a concept album based on the assumption that World War III has broken out, with atomic weapons erupting across the face of the earth. Even though most of the band’s songs seem to stagnate a bit during verses, they are inevitably elevated by their varied refrains, most of which are bolstered by solid riffing and here and there a shriek by vocalist Giovanni Vernier.
If you’re looking for a refreshing romp of something that’s neither too heavy nor too light, and have had it with faster music, pick this up!

Formed in 2001, shortly after Johan Liiva left Arch Enemy, Hearse is a highlight in the Death'n'Roll Metal sub-genre.
Hearse are plying their wares again; and so they continue to bring us that highly unique brand of Death 'n' Roll that is somewhat similar to, but still quite different from, related acts such as Convulse and later-era Carcass. "Single Ticket To Paradise" is, perhaps, their best album yet, but you won't find too many major changes to their approach, though, as the band pretty much pick up where they left off with "In These Veins"; however, there are a few interesting progressions that deserve mention.
First off, Johan Liiva's characteristic gruff shout sounds better than ever -- it sounds much more brutal, frenetic and angry on this album, and it's awesome. Regarding the guitars, Mattias Ljung's trademark solos are just as excellent as they were before, with their "Rocky", melodic and twangy edge to them; but here is presented a rejuvenated sense of depressive, almost haunting melody in some solos and refrains. Subtended as the melodies are by Hearse's typical fast, Swedish sounding riffs, this creates the perfect balance between despondent beauty and rough brutality. The drumming is also steady, solid, and precise, and we see Mr. Max Thornell incorporating a little more double-bass work than found on previous albums, which is definitely good, as it adds that extra dimension to the music.
Another noticeable difference is the production and recording. Dan Swanö has created one of the best productions here. The guitars, cymbals, tom-toms, and bass drum sound are just incredible: they sound heavy, balanced, and full. Gone are the days of Swanö's thin and trebly productions (cf. Edge Of Sanity's "Purgatory Afterglow" from 1994, Ghostorm's "Frozen in Fire" from 1995, and, especially, Gates Of Ishtar's "The Dawn Of Flames" from 1997 — all the albums are excellent, but the productions left much to be desired).
The release comes with a bonus DVD "Live in Holland", containing 5 live tracks, filmed and edited by Maurice Swinkels (Legion Of The Damned), a massive picture chapter, and the video for the track
"Sundown", edited by Owe Lingval (Nocturnal Rites, Wolf, Stratovarius).

The album sold an impressive 30 000 copies across Canada in its first few months, eventually being certified as double Platinum for sales of 200 000. Due to the gradual nature of the sales, it only entered the Canadian Albums Chart on September 4, 1976, peaking at number 20 on October 9, 1976.

The album continued the band's transition into Mainstream Rock, a genre that yielded the band its greatest commercial success. Marking the band's Capitol Records debut, it became Heart's only album to top the US Billboard 200 to date. The album was eventually certified quintuple Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (in contrast to Heart's previous two releases, "Private Audition" and "Passionworks", which remain uncertified, proving that adopting a Glam Metal direction helped resurrect the band.
The album yielded the band's first number-one Single, "These Dreams", along with four other singles: "What About Love", "Never", "Nothin' at All", and "If Looks Could Kill", with the first four Singles reaching the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100. At the 28th Annual Grammy Awards, the album was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.
In a 2022 interview, Ann Wilson stated that the album was self-titled because the band "didn’t write a whole lot of the songs on there, so that aspect of closeness with the work was gone, and it was much harder for us to come up with a title that was real".

It was originally released on April 19, 1977, by Mushroom Records in unfinished form, without the band's permission. A second authorized version of the album was released on April 22, 1978.
Since the label could no longer provide Flicker as producer as the contract specified, the band took the position that they were free to move to another label and signed with Portrait Records. The change in labels resulted in a prolonged legal battle with Mushroom's creative director Shelly Siegel. Mushroom, which still had a two-album contract, claimed they had the legal right to release a second Heart album after all. Still in possession of the five unfinished studio recordings, as well as unreleased live tracks recorded in 1975, Mushroom had them remixed by the band's recording engineer, but without the presence of any group members. The label added another studio track, "Here Song" (the B-side to "How Deep It Goes", Heart's first Canadian Single from 1975). The rest of the album was filled by two live songs recorded in 1975 at The Aquarius Tavern, a rock club in Seattle where the group had played regularly. Mushroom released the collection as "Magazine" in the spring of 1977, at the same time that the ban was preparing their next album for Portrait Records, titled "Little Queen".
According to Flicker, about 50 000 copies of the original "Magazine" album were pressed. Some of these copies were sold in stores, mostly in Los Angeles and Hollywood, Florida, where the records were manufactured. Unsold copies were quickly recalled and later destroyed when Heart took Mushroom Records to court to stop distribution of the album. The 1977 version was also briefly released in Europe through Arista Records, but were ordered off shelves by a second court action.
Though the album was not officially released to radio stations in 1977, some stations such as KISW, a Seattle-based rock station, played songs from the unauthorized version, against the wishes of the group. The 1977 release carried a disclaimer on the back cover that read: "Mushroom Records regrets that a contractual dispute has made it necessary to complete this record without the cooperation or endorsement of the group Heart, who have expressly disclaimed artistic involvement in completing this record. We did not feel that a contractual dispute should prevent the public from hearing and enjoying these incredible tunes and recordings".
The court eventually decided that the band could sign with Portrait, but that they did owe Mushroom a second album. The band returned to the studio to re-record, remix, edit, and re-sequence the recordings. "Magazine" was re-released in 1978 and sold a million copies in less than a month.
Shelly Siegel, the promoter behind the "First Time" ad and vice president of the record label, died a few months after the re-release, and Mushroom Records went bankrupt two years later. Ownership rights to Heart's two albums for Mushroom were purchased by Capitol Records, which reissued the recordings. The episode had at least one more repercussion. Not long after the ad appeared, a radio promoter asked Ann about her lover; he was referring to Nancy, thus implying that the sisters were incestuous lesbian lovers. The encounter infuriated Ann, who went back to her hotel and wrote the words to what became one of Heart's signature songs, "Barracuda".
The album has been certified Platinum in both the United States and Canada.

Not as much power metal anymore, but you still can't make the mistake of taking them for anything else than Germans, and there is still speed and catchy parts to go around, not just as much as earlier - not nearly as much. They have a good grasp of Heavy Metal song structures, an ability to write decent, sometimes catchy, riffs and somewhat anthemic and catchy choruses. And this time the album is produced, engineered, mixed and mastered by Sascha Paeth and Miro.
The songs are well written and have plenty of hook. "Breakin' Loose" in particular seems like it could have been a hit on Rock radio. The song has a similar hooky quality that Helloween's "I Want Out" or "Dr. Stein" had. At the same time, "Menergy" is a slightly darker release overall than any of Heavens Gate's past catalog. Apparently "Menergy" is a concept album of sorts. Between each song there is a short intro, most of which are under thirty seconds long. All the short intros are called "Teleshoot" and are apparently part of the story line. Frankly the songs are just enjoyable without knowledge of the storyline.
A solid album that holds a really high quality on through the album, even though there aren't any obvious highlights. Heaven's Gate show a new side of themselves with "Menergy" while still holding on to the sound they have earlier created.
Unfortunately "Menergy" would be Heavens Gate's last album.

Heimdalls Wacht is a quintet, one that recently partially re-invented itself when they added a new drummer and an additional vocalist to their already very experienced line-up. And, in order to celebrate this event, the band wrote, performed and produced their latest full-length album, which bears the title "Geisterseher" (roughly translated into ‘a person who can see ghosts’).
Heimdalls Wacht’s music comes in a most distinctive and expressive blend: on the basis of Raw and at the same time melancholic and Melodic Black Metal, a number of stylistic influences have entered the sound throughout the years, from Folk and Doom, via Progressive and melodic classic Metal, through Thrash and Death Metal.
The fact that the group features two vocalists which has made the Heimdalls Wacht style so exceptionally variable, hardly equalled within the confines of the genre, and which underscores the overall musical vibrancy. Coming complete with the power of a twin guitar duo next to the pounding drum-and-bass rhythm machine, the band’s live sound is testimony to the sheer energy of the extreme.
The "Geisterseher" shows Heimdalls Wacht in a for the band never seen professional sound created in the worldwide appreciated Stage One studio of Andy Classen (Krisiun, Asphyx, Belphegor etc.). Apart from this, the professional modern standard doesn't conflict with the true oldschool underground attitude of the band.
“Geisterseher” is a great release from Heimdalls Wacht - they’ve created an entertaining and interesting take on Black Metal. This is a well-thought-out album which nonetheless sounds natural and not at all like the band is trying too hard. And while Heimdalls Wacht does have a strong emphasis on the lyrics, the strong ambience they build up through their music is more than adequate to draw you in, whether you understand what is being said or not!
