Thomas is in fact a classically-trained violinist, graduating from the Juilliard School and touring for a time playing conventional Classical music before crossing over to Metal.
Kat's public persona, as portrayed in her publicity photos and videos, is mainly that of a dominatrix, albeit in a somewhat over-the-top, tongue-in-cheek manner.

"Guitar Goddess" offers a short blast of intense hyper-speed guitar playing that most people will have to listen to a few times to pick up on. Kat is no new-comer to the world of guitar playing. Her warp speed playing style has been around since the 1980’s. Kat’s re-workings of these classics are hardly recognizable as the original composition. If you’re into Metal then you might appreciate Kat. In a way, Kat’s music is much more intense than most Death Metal bands but it does not sound like it at all! If you’re into the guitar hero types like Yngwie Malmsteen, Joe Satriani, or Vinnie Moore and you think they are Neo-Classical well, Kat is not really in their category. The Great Kat was a short-lived phenomenon in the late 80s, when her albums "Worship Me Or Die" and "Beethoven On Speed" initiated a counter-revolution all by herself, impossibly fast music played by a delicate woman, not much taller than five feet, but containing more energy than whole legions of long-haired male Metal bands. The Great Kat was so far ahead of her time that her former label didn't do more music with her.
Back in the present: The Great Kat is still alive. These days, she is releasing short CD-EPs, with songs rarely longer than 2 minutes, through TPR Music – her sister's public relations company. And one thing is for sure: The Great Kat still knows how to sell herself!
Where in her early days, we had to do with satanic clichés, the 9/11 events have made her a fierce warrior queen against terrorism. Dressed in camouflage clothes and looking scarier than a whole squadron of navy seals, The Great Kat starts her album with Wagner's "The Ride Of The Valkyries", a fitting opening for such a violent album. She still knows how to blend perfectly hyperspeed Metal with Classical music, adding her virtuosity with the fastest guitar solos you might ever hear. And by the way, The Great Kat has been voted among the ten fastest guitar shredders by Guitar One Magazine.
Next up are four original compositions, displaying the typical The Great Kat sound: Speed Metal so fast that even early Napalm Death seem lame in comparison, with wailing banshee vocals that scare the hell out, and whenever you think that this is all getting out of control, you are rewarded with one of the mistress's staccato solos that are so out of this world.
The two last tracks are again Classical pieces, the first one being Liszt's "Hungarian Rhapsody #2", with impossible fast guitars and without a doubt the highlight of the album. On the last track, Sarasate's "Zapateado", The Great Kat gets out her violin and proves that she is a Juilliard graduate for a good reason. The Classical pieces are backed by a midi Symphonic orchestra, but as the emphasis is on guitar and violin, you don't even really notice.
Since the late 80s, instrumental (or nearly instrumental) guitar albums have been quite popular mostly with musicians, but rather inaccessible to casual listener. The Great Kat outperforms not most, but all of the competition, by not only being faster, but also much fiercer than anyone you can think of. As much as we enjoy the combination of Extreme Metal (which may seem parodist at times), BDSM imagery and an ego bigger than Jesus, we also can see that there is incredible virtuosity in a musician that makes it easier to write whole pages about 10 minutes of sheer originality than to even wonder what to write about hour long albums of boring mediocrity. The Great Kat may only release 10 minutes of music every other year, but these short moments are well worth the wait!

With an unapologetic high-energy attack, The Hole bring forth a tasty, total assault on your ears with "A Monument To The End Of The World". It's refreshing to see that there are still bands lying in the Underground who produce a testament of crushing Metal such as is heard on the aforementioned title. The punishing quartet from the Canary Islands are prepared to grab you face-first and thrust you into a submissive fit of headbanging!
The combination of Death, Thrash, and Melodic Black Metal creates an exciting variety of aggressive styles in those songs and is present throughout the whole of the album. You have pulsating percussive blastbeats, reliable riffs, scintillating solos, and a steady time signature that appealed to my analytic brain. The vocals, though definitely harsh, did not seem repetitive, nor a rip-off of the style of another band in the same category. Everything about this album said "raw, fresh power", leaving no crowd in the imagery of mind without the urge to open up the f****ng pit!
Though energetic, there is an obvious tone of haunting nature concurrent with the theme of this album as one could surmise from the title. Everything is done perfectly from the production to the album cover. This album definitely serves as a fantastic "Monument To The End Of The World"!

The debut full-length studio album by legendary British Blues Rock/Hard Rock band.
It's the second studio album by English guitarist Jeff Beck, which was released in June 1969 by Epic Records in the United States and the following August by Columbia Records in the United Kingdom.
Jack Beck and his band released their first album, "Truth", during 1968 and by the end of the year drummer Micky Waller was replaced by Tony Newman, as Beck wanted to take the music in a heavier direction, and he viewed Waller as more of a finesse drummer in the style of Motown. Pianist Nicky Hopkins, who had also played on "Truth", was asked to join the band full-time for his work in the studio.
Recording sessions for the "Back-Ola" took place over six days in April 1969. Two covers of Elvis Presley tunes were chosen, "All Shook Up" and "Jailhouse Rock", as well as "Girl From Mill Valley", an instrumental by and prominently featuring Hopkins. The remaining four tracks consist of band originals, with the instrumental "Rice Pudding" ending the album dramatically cold.
Following the sessions for this album, the Jeff Beck Group toured the United States. They were scheduled to play Woodstock and are listed on posters promoting the festival, but by then internal friction had reached the breaking point and both Ronnie Wood and Rod Stewart were out of the band. Stewart and Wood would form the Faces with members of the Small Faces in 1969, while Hopkins played Woodstock with Jefferson Airplane, joined Quicksilver Messenger Service, and toured the world with the Rolling Stones in 1971, 1972 and 1973. Beck himself would be out of action by December due to an automobile accident.
The album peaked at No. 15 on the Billboard 200, and at No. 39 on the UK Albums Chart. The album's title puns on the name of the Rock-Ola jukebox company.
Although a short album at half an hour, it is regarded, along with its predecessor, as a seminal work of Heavy Metal due to its use of Blues toward a Hard Rock approach and the squaring off of Beck's guitar against Stewart's vocals, duplicated the same year by Beck's good friend Jimmy Page with his singer Robert Plant in Led Zeppelin.

Previously known as Rapture (a name they really should have kept!), this reissue brings the one and only Moshketeers album back to life. Originally released in 1992, this album gets new cover artwork and adds a variety of bonus tracks. The Moshketeers were one of Christian Metal underground bands most reveled "secrets". "The Downward Spiral" was independently released on cassette only. Finally in 2010 Roxx Records secured the rights to reissue this gem upon a suspecting world!
First of all, 'The Downward Spiral' is just as good as the rumors would have it! The bands brand of Thrash Metal is unlike any band you've ever heard, yet it's well rooted in the American Thrash Metal scene of the late '80's. The band’s name, and their Bermuda shorts-clad looks leads the mind toward some of the bands that mixed Thrash Metal with Hardcore and humor, like Anthrax, S.O.D. or M.O.D.. And while the former of those bands can somewhat serve as a pinpoint towards The Moshketeers Thrash Metal sound; they are as different as they are similar.
