After starting the band in the ‘80s, founder Steve Kachinsky never gave it much thought that in the year 2002 they’d still be going strong and creating the most important and vital music of their careers. "Unseen" seethes with passion and vitality, and Steel Prophet’s undying hunger gives the songs on album an underlying rawness and edge. Their first three releases, combined with constant gigging in the LA area with bands like Armored Saint and Fates Warning, gained them a loyal following, but it wasn’t until Nuclear Blast signed them in 1998 that Steel Prophet truly emerged as a powerful music force.
The album balances its aggression and intense, often politically charged lyrics with dreamy ‘70s inspired melodies, easily creating the deepest listening experience Steel Prophet has ever delivered. While each recording has shown progression, "Unseen" contains the distilled essence of the previous releases while expanding the band’s sound beyond the confines of traditional Metal. "Unseen" is a virtual yin and yang of emotions that show the band’s versatility and their desire to create each song as a unique experience. Re-release on CD of the third full-length album by the cult American Heavy Metal band.
“Prisoners”, originally released in 1988 via Black Dragon Records, nearly two years after the previous “Second Offense”, displays the first lineup changes within the Steel Vengeance personal. Tracy Kerbuski arrived as the new lead/rhythm guitarist along with the slashing drummer Marshall Davis manning the skins. Furthermore, this lineup changes also injected venom within the band’s perception towards their earlier music.
Steel Vengeance actually lived up beyond the elements of Hard Rock/Glam/Hair Metal that stood firm on the earlier album thus preparing the grounds for gristle Speed/Heavy Metal accustomed to the classic US Metal code with clear influences of Motörhead and a few early Megadeth and Metallica signatures (minus the technical stuff) but still engulfed by the captivating magic of post NWOBHM bands. Of course “Prisoners” still remained true to the band’s earlier musical endeavors, but eventually it took the band higher than their last effort.
“Prisoners” sounded nastier, heavier, always on the attack, flashing with emphatic shred soloing that seemed to last for long moments or in every naked moment.
A great comeback to awesomeness for this American band, taking another step in their development!! Strongly recommended for fans of Iron Maiden and Judas Priest!!!

The sixth full-length album by the legendary American guitarist-virtuoso.
After the disastrous full-band Heavy Metal project of Sex & Religion, Steve Vai returned to recording solo with "Alien Love Secrets". It's a moodier, more atmospheric collection than his masterpiece, "Passion And Warfare", which makes it slightly revelatory. With the new sonic textures, the guitarist again demonstrates his fluid technique, which manages to never become completely mechanical. Considered by musician as EP, really this if full-length album.
Steve Vai: "The recording and release of "Alien Love Secrets" marked another turning point in my personal evolution. I felt independent again and immensely happy. I was more concerned with making the record that I wanted to make, and not worry about what some others thought I should be doing. It also marked the beginning of the professional relationship with my current manager, Ruta Sepetys. She is everything that you would never expect in the typical music biz manager. She is honest, driven, sincere, shrewd and compassionate all rolled into a powerful yet unassuming beautiful blond-haired frame".
Overall, this was a very interesting album for Steve Vai. Some tracks ("Bad Horsie", "Ya-Yo Gakk") are really out there in terms of the guitar effects and other... effects, while another is normal ("Die to Live"). Still another is in the Metal genre ("Kill the Guy with the Ball") while the other two are great ballads ("The Boy from Seattle", "Tender Surrender"). It just goes to show you how versatile and creative this man is. There's something for everyone on the CD!!
The album reached No. 125 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and remained on that chart for two weeks, as well as reaching No. 72 on the Dutch albums chart.

The fourth full-length studio album by German Brutal Death Metal/Deathcore band.
During their fifteen years of existing, Stillbirth has created a unique style that gives them a distinct sound. Listening to the album "Global Error" for the first time, you'll immediately thought of a Cephalic Carnage band. The reason of the association is not related with the similarity of these bands: contrary, the music of Stillbirth is quite individual. The analogy can be traced only in terms of the presence of a variety of musical experiments.
What connects all the tracks of the album: the presence of Technical Death, growling, pigging and menacing vocals, also the adding of Slamming, Brutal, slowly shakes - in the style of Devourment. Of course, it should be noted German style - there are some influences of other German bands. The sound and mixing are on the height, everything is done competently and skillfully.
Experiments of these guys lead to unexpected results. For example, recitation, like a Rap (in the spirit of "Fred Durst" of Limp Bizkit) at the end of the track "Open Up This Fucking Pit" is listened naturally and does not spoil the song, but only adds to it originality. 
The musicians do not skimp on the original guitar riffs, the album is not boring, and it holds throughout the entire listening, it catches. Twelve songs full of brutal, heavy riffs, extreme blasts and breaks awaits you! Brilliant sound and a 12 pages booklet featuring the artwork of Mottla is the result!!

It's amazing when local underground bands creating and writing new original material and not just slogging it out on the local bar scene doing covers. To create an independent debut album takes time, hard-work and commitment, characteristics that are sometimes hard to come by, let alone trying to pay for the thing. It’s guys like Stinger that keep the scene going.
Take a heavy dose of Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, mix it with the vocals of Chuck Billy during "Practice What You Preach", inject it with a Heavy 90s atmosphere, throw in a bit of Thrash, and shove some classic solos up its ass. And what you get is Stinger’s debut masterpiece, "Manic Depressor"!
The well-produced, eleven cuts span just under an hour of good time head-banging fun. Musically, Stinger spans a number of sounds with ease and proficiency. It’s not just a retro sound but the tone is a bit more modern at times. All those dissimilar styles blend nicely into something quite unique. There are a few slower moments, like the middle section of "Harmantra" that bleeds into some excellent soloing. Literally every single track is a magnificent example of excellent songwriting, tight musicianship and fantastic awesomeness.
This is a confident, mature debut album that will turn a few heads.  This is really masterpiece! If you’re a fan of good music, you won’t regret it!!

The second full-length studio album by Swedish Melodic Heavy Metal band.
Formed by longtime members of the Swedish underground metal scene, Stonelake presents melodic Metal, which has a distinctly melancholy edge underneath its catchy, accessible surface.
All songs contain a good dose of synths; even on the faster-paced, aggressive numbers such as "Body Talk" and "Rest My Eyes on You". The band goes all 80's on "Magic Signs" in the vein of Dokken, but the staccato riffery and drumming belies the comparison towards the middle. There are also ballads on the album: "Words Are Not Enough" and "One Love One Heart" are both punctuated by cool guitar arpeggios, soaring vocals, and ever-present synth layering.
Stonelake's main duo comprises of Jan Akesson and Peter Grundstrom. They've known each other for many years, and this is obvious while listening to the album, since there's profound chemistry between them two. This Swedish band has already released one album in prior, "Reincarnation".
Enlisting the services of Jaime Salazar on drums, "World Entry" sees the quartet flirting on-the-edge with melodic Hard Rock the Scandinavian way. Pompous keyboards, high-pitched vocals from Grundstrom and furious guitar themes by Akesson leave the band on top of trying to perform something more than just Hard 'n' Heavy music. As if TNT, Journey, heavy Boston, 80's Deep Purple and Jacob's Dream would jam on a beautiful spring day. The album features various tempos and, of course, includes a very good ballad called "Words Are Not Enough". On the other hand, tracks like "Magic Signs" will nail you down at first hearing. The solo work provided by Akesson is quite notable, while Grundstrom uses his voice with much of experience; exchanging fury and passion anyway he wants it. To hell and back again: the use of 'personality' keys in this album gradually rises to be the strong ace of "World Entry". Some will surely see enough of a Dream Theater influence in the keys' arrangement, and there seems to be a very good reason for this.
"World Entry" is not a typical album, genre-free. It bears the unique charisma of, gradually, winning over your ears. Stonelake seems to be a rather hard working band in terms of composing/recording. And the question is: do you want to get away with this fact? Even Euro Power Metal fans will like this album!

The fully conceptual album story is about a man who is put in jail for the reason that remains a mystery to the listener. To deal with harshness of prison life, the hero reads specific books, in which he finds freedom and salvation. There are six literature pieces the album is based on: “Stranger in a Strange Land” by Robert A. Heinlein, “The Count of Monte Cristo” by Alexandre Dumas, “Crime and Punishment” by Fyodor Dostoevsky, “The Master and Margarita” by Mikhail Bulgakov, “The Picture of Dorian Grey” by Oscar Wilde, and “Faust” by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
A special guest star in the album is Tom S. Englund, a lead singer of Evergrey!

The debut full-length album by Italian Horror/Heavy/Thrash Metal band.
Story Of Jade plays a heavy form of Thrash Metal, with some references to more extreme variants of the genre that are present throughout the album. The horror and gore themes of the music is immediately obvious right from the start, with the whispered vocals at the beginning of "Self-Inflicted Masterpiece" giving a strong hint to the lyrical direction of the album. As the first riffs begin, you'll pleasantly surprised by the grooviness in the music. This could actually have the potential to be a kickass ride ahead.
Vocalist Bapho Matt alternates between an high-pitched bark, Death growls and clean vocals, displaying his wide range of vocal techniques. In particular, the clean singing would probably charm fans of Glam/Shock rock bands such as Alice Cooper or Wednesday 13, with his style sounding like a more gruff version of the aforementioned vocalists. Throw into that the old-school feel that the band has managed to conjure with the nice blend of Heavy Metal, Thrash Metal and Rock 'n' Roll inspired guitar riffs. Apart from that, these are often punctuated with melodic Death Metal riffing patterns and pinch harmonics like on Afterlife Confusion, making the music all the more catchy and easily gets listeners to headbang to the music, despite the mostly mid-paced tempo that the band tends to move at. Songs like "Afterlife Confusion" even have a slight Iron Maiden touch, with the lead guitar lines reminding listeners of their post-reunion material, and this only serves to make things more enjoyable. The solos of guitarists Matt and A.G. are technical yet manage to retain that melodic edge, blending in nicely to the foundations upon which the music of Story Of Jade are built upon. Songs like "C. F. Virus S01" also displays the innovative use of guitar effects, with the guitarists using artificial harmonics to create a ECG sound effect. The usage of a child singing towards the end of "J.A.D.E." also provides that adorable/haunting dichotomy, messing with the listener's head. There are also heavier moments on the album, such as those on "H.M.K.M.", which include Crossover/Thrash Metal-styled shouting at the background, ensuring that the element of fun is constantly remains in the music.
If one ever wondered what 80s-styled Glam or Shock Rock would sound like if put into a more Extreme mode, perhaps Story Of Jade's "The Damned Next Door" could be the perfect answer, with the heavy yet melodic music present, and the horror-themed lyrics!
