CAPRICORN “Inferno” /CD/

The first re-release of the debut full-length studio album by cult German Heavy/Power/Speed Metal band.
Capricorn from Germany was formed in 1991 from the ashes of Speed/Thrash Metal band Grinder, founded in 1985 in Frankfurt. Grinder released "Dawn For The Living" (1988) and "Dead End" (1989) on No Remorse Records, before joining Noise Records for "Nothing Is Sacred" (1991). The band changed their name because they lost a record-deal and the members did not find an agreement on the band's future. Another reason was a losing of guitarist Lario Teklic, took his own life, than the rest of the band chose to change their name. They choose the moniker of Capricorn as the sound was both conceptually and stylistically far from Grinder.
Capricorn line-up was: Adrian Hahn on bass and vocals, David Hofmann on guitar and Stefan Arnold (later joined Grave Digger) on drums. After a demo with six songs, the band reached a record deal with Shark Records. On this label, the self-titled strong debut album was recorded at the T&T studio in 1993, with producer Wolfgang Stach.
Contrary to the declared intention, the debut of Capricorn did not reveal a significant change of style. In terms of heaviness and speed, the album was readily comparable to the final output of Grinder. Furthermore, Adrian's strong vocals built a bridge between the two bands. To put it in positive terms, Adrian and Stefan stayed true to themselves. However, the production marked a perceptible improvement. It was definitely more powerful than that of Grinder's "Nothing Is Sacred". Especially the voluminous guitar sound did not lack of pressure, but all instruments - including the vocals - appeared in the right light. Thus, the prerequisites were given to enthuse the listeners with some punchy Speed/Power Metal pieces. "Mr. Vorhees" was the album's mainstream hit that was played a lot of times in a pub in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, the city from which the band originated. Then the band toured Germany in 1994 with Grave Digger.
This situation was reminiscent of that of Grinder. But Capricorn did not give up yet. Their second album was in the making.
