A story-based Progressive Metal with Gothic Metal elements, strong male vocals with gentle power of female Operatic voice, and polyrhythmic melodies with harsh Metal riffs will draw the listener into the atmosphere of the story and make him search further.
The fully conceptual album story is about a man who is put in jail for the reason that remains a mystery to the listener. To deal with harshness of prison life, the hero reads specific books, in which he finds freedom and salvation. There are six literature pieces the album is based on: “Stranger in a Strange Land” by Robert A. Heinlein, “The Count of Monte Cristo” by Alexandre Dumas, “Crime and Punishment” by Fyodor Dostoevsky, “The Master and Margarita” by Mikhail Bulgakov, “The Picture of Dorian Grey” by Oscar Wilde, and “Faust” by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
A special guest star in the album is Tom S. Englund, a lead singer of Evergrey!

The debut full-length album by Italian Horror/Heavy/Thrash Metal band.
Story Of Jade plays a heavy form of Thrash Metal, with some references to more extreme variants of the genre that are present throughout the album. The horror and gore themes of the music is immediately obvious right from the start, with the whispered vocals at the beginning of "Self-Inflicted Masterpiece" giving a strong hint to the lyrical direction of the album. As the first riffs begin, you'll pleasantly surprised by the grooviness in the music. This could actually have the potential to be a kickass ride ahead.
Vocalist Bapho Matt alternates between an high-pitched bark, Death growls and clean vocals, displaying his wide range of vocal techniques. In particular, the clean singing would probably charm fans of Glam/Shock rock bands such as Alice Cooper or Wednesday 13, with his style sounding like a more gruff version of the aforementioned vocalists. Throw into that the old-school feel that the band has managed to conjure with the nice blend of Heavy Metal, Thrash Metal and Rock 'n' Roll inspired guitar riffs. Apart from that, these are often punctuated with melodic Death Metal riffing patterns and pinch harmonics like on Afterlife Confusion, making the music all the more catchy and easily gets listeners to headbang to the music, despite the mostly mid-paced tempo that the band tends to move at. Songs like "Afterlife Confusion" even have a slight Iron Maiden touch, with the lead guitar lines reminding listeners of their post-reunion material, and this only serves to make things more enjoyable. The solos of guitarists Matt and A.G. are technical yet manage to retain that melodic edge, blending in nicely to the foundations upon which the music of Story Of Jade are built upon. Songs like "C. F. Virus S01" also displays the innovative use of guitar effects, with the guitarists using artificial harmonics to create a ECG sound effect. The usage of a child singing towards the end of "J.A.D.E." also provides that adorable/haunting dichotomy, messing with the listener's head. There are also heavier moments on the album, such as those on "H.M.K.M.", which include Crossover/Thrash Metal-styled shouting at the background, ensuring that the element of fun is constantly remains in the music.
If one ever wondered what 80s-styled Glam or Shock Rock would sound like if put into a more Extreme mode, perhaps Story Of Jade's "The Damned Next Door" could be the perfect answer, with the heavy yet melodic music present, and the horror-themed lyrics!

The third full-length album by cult Italian Heavy Metal band.
The cult band of 80’s Underground returns with the new album!
In the 80s Strana Officina had something like an insider status in Italy. They was one of a few Italian bands to surface in the early eighties, with a debut EP in 1984 and a couple other releases later in the decade.
Sadly, two core members of the band, brothers Fabio and Roberto Cappanera, were killed in a car crash in 1993, which of course was a serious blow to the band. However, in what must be one of the more uplifting stories in Metal, the sons of the two men (Dario, son of Fabio, and Rolando, son of Roberto) eventually joined with original members Enzo Mascolo and Daniele Ancillotti, and the band was back in action in honor of the two fathers, the sons even playing the same instruments as their dads did!
In 2007 "The Faith" album was released, a really strong effort to show the old songs new recorded with a better sound. This album is as recommended as the original albums.
In 2008 the band made the error to sign with the rip-off guy Alessandro from Molten Metal Productions/Wild Side Music for an LP-rerelease of the old albums. The owner of this "label" not only ripped off the band but also all distributors and mailorders, so this 2008 LP-rerelease is nothing more than a hard to get bootleg.
For luck Strana Officina in 2010 went back to MyGraveyard Records and "Rising To The Call" is again a great album recommended to all fans of Melodic Heavy Metal.From the vocals to the musical ability, from sound to songwriting, the album is for sure Italys strongest Metal release in 2010 so far, so all other bands have a peak to climb! Highly recommended!!

The 11th full-length album by legendary Finnish Melodic Power Metal band.
This release of Stratovarius came after a highly troubled period for the band in 2004, during which they temporarily split up following a nervous breakdown suffered by Tolkki. After a year-long hiatus, they reunited in 2005 and embarked upon a worldwide tour for the album, playing for the first time in the United States and Canada.
Stylistically the album displays a dramatically noticeable shift from the Symphonic Power Metal sound of previous albums: the songs are more hard-edged and slower, with Tolkki's signature Neo-classical Shred soloing almost completely absent. Keyboardist Jens Johansson's role is particularly restricted, as well as Jörg Michael's drumming, which features hardly any of his signature double bass playing. Singer Timo Kotipelto also attempts a different vocal approach, mostly avoiding his usual high vocal range. Tolkki has since stated in interviews that he was unsatisfied with the end result of the album, due to it being too far removed from the band's true style.
The album is the last to feature the band's longest-standing line-up which had been consistent since “Episode” (1996), as bassist Jari Kainulainen would leave Stratovarius later in the year, followed by guitarist and bandleader Timo Tolkki in 2008.
Album reached #4 on that year's Finnish albums chart and remained charted for four weeks, as well as #52 on the Italian albums chart, where it remained charted for one week.

First re-release of the debut full-length studio album by cult Brazilian Speed/Heavy Metal band.
The first Brazilian Metal album ever!
Formed in 1974 by the encounter of the future members of the band in a school, they were the first Brazilian Metal band in the world, and also the first to release an album. Their career began by playing songs by artists such as Rolling Stones, Nazareth, Sweet, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and other similar bands. The first concert of the band, omitting various live performances for the anniversaries of the school, occurred in 1977. In 1978 the band began to work on their first piece, under the influence of Metal monsters such as Judas Priest, Saxon and Iron Maiden, sung both in English and in Portuguese, but due to the desire of the fans who wanted to understand the lyrics, all lyrics were rewritten in Portuguese.
The first album was released in 1982, called simply "Stress". The album mostly consisted of a quite heavy brand of Speed Metal, occasionally bordering on Thrash Metal, in some parts accompanied by Heavy Metal and Hard Rock influences. The release of the album followed with a major success for the band, for example the song "O Oráculo do Judas" was one of the most successful songs on radio stations in Rio de Janeiro, making the band gather many fans and putting it under the attention of Brazilian media.

Debut full-length album by French Black Metal band.
Strynn’s Black Metal is cold and without concessions. It evokes pain, despair, hatred. The alternation of a curt and hoarse male voice and a deep and sharp female voice emphasize on the duality between distress and violence. The atmosphere which breaks out is therefore dark, sometimes aggressive, with no frills.
Midtempo drums and darkly melodic textures are draped across the framework of the album's opener, "Awakening". A steady, repetitive diet of hypnotic riffs populate the song's center but the drumbeat becomes a bit tiresome. "Burial" employs a similar beat, though sped up slightly to match the faster, more insistent riffs and deathly shrieks. It's reminds a bit of Kampfar and then the song erupts into intense gusts of freezing Black Metal. "Uncreation" however makes a more sinister impact in your ears as the riffs are creative and strike a delicate balance between atmospheric passages and memorably diabolical movements. "Emptiness" streams out like a fiery meteorite, exploding with vengeance during its initial section. It then settles into midtempo melodies and grim vocals that recall shades of early Samael. Frosty strumming on the guitar and frigid melodic riffing set the stage for a stormier, brooding song with Burnt. The speedy melodies return and then are folded into some midtempo riffs that bring to mind synthless Gehenna from their "First Spell" era. As the album continues forward, the songs begin to blend into one another.
"Decadence" sees Strynn feeling themselves out but not really setting themselves apart from the scene. Solid album that will leave you with a lasting impression!

The second full-length album by Italian Melodic Death Metal band.
Band tried to make their way between Death, Thrash and Heavy Metal by issuing a sort of material that sounded slightly varied. There is that late 90s Gothenburg Melodic Death Metal riffing affiliations, and usage of growling and clean vocals, in the vein of In Flames & Soilwork but a tad more modernized alongside Thrashier punchy outcomes that sounded very similar to early The Haunted, Callenish Circle and The Crown. As far as Heavy Metal goes, it is easy to notice that their guitarists have classic and old school appreciations when it came down to their soloing and melodic licks, which were displayed rather well. The usage of keyboards on several of the tracks enhanced the surrounding atmosphere but only for a bit as the main music just stomped and buried itself eventually. The guitar sound goes from an all out Thrash shred, to a fast paced Speed Metal part and into a more technical sounding Metalcore/Deathcore part. The vocals follow a similar path as the rest of the bands music. There are harsh low ended Death growls mixed with harsh Thrash Metal type vocals and then some melodic clean Death/Thrash Metal vocals.
Subliminal Fear is the band with decent musicians. Diehard fans of the genre might find something here! Italy has an amazing roster of killer bands and Subminal Frae is definitely one of them!!

What immediately stands out is the darker Death Metal tones found within “Rip Tide” – those tones signified in the deathly Doom of acts such as Esoteric or Evoken. However, Suffer Yourself create their own space, with the maturity from over a decade of craft and unblinkered vision.
Throughout “Rip Tide” there is an undercurrent of suffocating Drone, with all tracks being built upon the claustrophobic foundations of a Drone score created by Belarusian artist Ugasanie. From that point, the expressive composition adds layers of beautifully dissonant guitar work that has a notable 90s Death Metal feel to it.
Within that, there is an almost cinematic scope to the album – with sounds and samples embroidered into the music. The final touch being delivered with a mesmerizing cello part – that is wonderfully woven into the tracks and adds such depth. Even though the feel of the album is the same throughout, there is a distinct difference between all tracks.
All these elements are brought together, to create a maelstrom, a master class in Underground Extreme Death Doom Metal. Suffer Yourself have crafted a wonderful album and have shown the world that they now sit amongst the best of the Extreme Doom genre!

For the first time officially released, the first live album by legendary American Technical Brutal Death Metal band.
Legendary Death Metal icons are universally regarded as the best live Death Metal band in the world. Their very first live-record, "Close Of A Chapter", captures all the speed, intensity, and brutality of one of the most influential bands in Death Metal.
Many a Death Metal bands can come off sounding as tight as a mosquito's arse in the studio (where one can fiddle around with Pro Tools and take endless takes to get things razor-sharp), but the real test is how they pull it off live, on stage. And as evidenced by Suffocation's first-ever live offering, 2009's "Close Of A Chapter", these lads are just as explosively brutal on-stage as they are in the cold confines of the recording studio.
Recorded in Quebec City during the band's Souls To Deny Tour in 2005, this 13-track set is also advertised as being completely devoid of any editing, which only makes it all the more impressive. As with the majority of bands from this aforementioned genre, there's not a lot of musical diversity here. But looked upon as a whole album, "Close Of A Chapter" is one unrelenting, raging beast, and should seriously be considered as one of Death Metal's top live recordings of all time!

The first re-release of the debut full-length studio album by Greek Thrash Metal band.
A long overdue re-release, "Eternal Domination" is a mix of American and German mid-80s Thrash Metal, marrying elements from early Slayer, Sepultura, Kreator and Destruction, just to name a few.
The vocals sound a bit like a faster version of Mille Petrozza at times. Fast and evil sounding, a good match for the music which is mostly mid to fast-paced, with heavy and slow passages that slowly but surely elevate into speedier and speedier guitars and thunderous drums. There's enough old school riffage on this bad boy to make the seasoned Thrash fan overdose.
Overall the band manages to create and maintain a rather dark, menacing and destructive atmosphere. As an added bonus, these guys are very tight, which makes this speed fest even more enjoyable. Fast, heavy, violent and blasphemous! Highly recommended!! Old School Thrash Metal At its Best!!!

The third full-length studio album by legendary American Hardcore/Thrash Metal band.
Suicidal Tendencies regrouped successfully for one of their best efforts on this album. It's the band's first album recorded with the addition of a rhythm guitarist Mike Clark, and their only release with bassist Bob Heathcote, who was replaced by Robert Trujillo in 1989. Mike Clark changed the band's style heavily as well - he writes much of the music for this album, and gives lead guitarist Rocky George more soloing time, thus creating another factor on this and future albums' for more Metal-oriented sound. The band's Thrashy fusion of its Hardcore roots with Speed Metal was fully developed by this point, and Mike Muir's social commentary and self-analysis were as ragingly compelling and by turns amusing as ever.
The stylistic variation gives the album a sprawling feel that might be off-putting for those who like Thrash to sound ‘a certain way’. Suicidal Tendencies never cared about convention. This band was always more interested in contradiction than purity. They delighted in juxtaposing a tough, streetwise image (shown on the album cover) with confessional vulnerability (shown in the lyrics). These types of contradictions endeared them to many people outside of the Metal scene, sometimes at the expense of people inside it.
Probably, there are die-hard Thrash Metal fans who may have missed this album, because it doesn’t fit genre stereotypes. If you one of them, listen to this album immediately, you'll love it!!
In August 2014, Revolver Magazine placed the album on its "14 Thrash Albums You Need to Own" list.
