Musically, you can indeed compare Meneapneontes to bands like Rotting Christ and Varathron, but also with acts like Ancient Rites or Bal-Sagoth.  This is high standard Black Metal with a decent share of melody and atmosphere.  On other occasions, Meneapneontes truly likes speed, intensity and aggression, resulting in punishing passages of Epic Black Metal.

The second re-release of the seventh full-length studio album by legendary Danish Heavy Metal band.
Mercyful Fate's last studio album before their twenty-year hiatus from 1999 to 2019.
"9" has a sound far more akin to 80s Thrash Metal than classic Mercyful Fate releases. Furthermore, the songs have been made shorter and much faster, again emitting a strong Thrash Metal vibe. This stylistic change works in favour of "9" and gives it a distinct identity, separating the album from every preceding release.
Although atmosphere has always been a key component of Mercyful Fate releases, no album has ever utilized atmosphere as well as "9" has. The album has the darkest, most disturbing atmosphere of any Mercyful Fate album, arguably even mores than "Don’t Break The Oath" or the band’s self-titled EP. The intense atmosphere found on each and every song derives from the album’s lyrics and production. "9" sees the return of Satanic and occult-themed lyrics, which had been mostly absent since the release of "Time" in 1994. While this style of lyricism was never completely abandoned, the fact that lyrics revolving around demons and Hell are back in full-swing adds another layer of darkness and evil to the album.
Like its predecessor, the sound quality on "9" has been intentionally worsened to achieve an effect, similar to bands of the Black Metal persuasion. As a result, the vocals sound muddy and the guitar tone is distorted and raw. Although the poor production adds to the haunting atmosphere the band was clearly trying to achieve, it nevertheless hurts the overall sound of the band in the long run. The loudness of the guitars often overpower the other instruments, and the muddiness of the vocals make King Diamond sound weaker than ever. In addition, the vocals are typically buried in the background while guitars blare in the foreground, occasionally rendering King Diamond’s vocals completely unintelligible. Luckily, the guitarists end up being the album’s saving grace. Unlike the previous album, Shermann’s riffs never cease to be interesting, and are usually the catchiest parts of every song. Wead’s shredding during guitar solos make songs more intense and compliment Diamond’s shrieks and falsetto wails. Although Mercyful Fate are clearly not at the top of their game during this album, the guitarists are typically able to make up for most of the band’s shortcomings. Although the messy sound quality works well with the songs’ Satanic lyrics, it ends up hurting the album in the long run.
When deciding how they should handle "9", Mercyful Fate most likely found themselves in an awkward place. Keeping their sound the same by sticking to their trite, overused formula would have proved disastrous, as it would have no doubt been a reiteration of "Dead Again", their least successful album. However, a return to form would have been laughable, as Denner was vital to their classic sound and most members of the band have lost most of their former glory. With that being said, "9" was an excellent way of finding middle ground. Despite its shortcomings, the album is a solid effort which proved that Mercyful Fate were still creative masterminds so many years into their career.

The first re-release of the sixth full-length studio album by legendary Danish Heavy Metal band.
The album marks the first that Michael Denner is not present on. It also marked a new era for the band, as the production is more muddy and raw, and the guitar tone is more distorted than on the three previous albums. In addition, the album introduced a more complex and arguably Progressive sound to several of its tracks.
Recorded during a frenzy of activity during the late '90s, "Dead Again" was presumably thrown together rather quickly, as Mercyful Fate and King Diamond's solo outfit were both releasing new discs at a furious rate. This schedule had to be most taxing on vocalist Diamond, whose ultra-high-pitch bellowing and novel-length lyrical additions to both of his bands made for a laborious schedule. Joining Diamond on this 1998 Metal Blade release are guitarists Hank Shermann and Mike Wead, drummer Bjarne T. Holm, and bassist Sharlee D'Angelo. Each member turns in solid performances in both the creation and execution of fine riffs and arrangements.
Very catchy and pretty damn heavy, with lots of groovy riffs to it, with a rather surprising ending. Mercyful Fate nor King Diamond have ever put out a bad album, and "Dead Again" conjures enough magic to make it a worthy purchase!

The third full-length studio album by legendary Danish Heavy Metal band.
Mercyful Fate's first album since their reunion in 1992. After an almost decade-long hiatus, the band's reunion did not disappoint; it was as if they picked up right where they had left off. There are more of King Diamond's gothic tales of horror and the supernatural, and the music sounds better than ever.
The songs here are first-rate; most of them grab your attention in one way or another. But what separates this record from the rest is the numbers of hooks found here. Whether it is a riff, a chorus, or a drum pattern, by the end of the album you'll remember something from it. The album also features awesome production; you can listen to every single note and vocal line the way that the band intended and yet, it doesn't sound overly polished.
Unlike previous Mercyful Fate albums, which were entirely centred around lyrical themes of satanism and the occult, the lyrics on this album are rather focused on more conceptual horror-themes, akin to King Diamond's work with his eponymous band. The band would not return to a primarily occult/satanic lyrical approach until the band's latest album, "9", released in 1999.
This would be the final full-length album Timi Hansen would appear on before his death in 2019. 
Even as the album doesn't have the historical significance of their early 80s material, that doesn't really matter, because this is high-quality material from a veteran band!
The CD features a Bonus Track, "Return of the Vampire… 1993", featuring Lars Ulrich of Metallica on drums – a re-recorded version of the underground classic "Return of the Vampire", present in the homonymous 1992 compilation album.

The first compilation album by legendary Danish Heavy Metal band.
"The Beginning" is a compilation of rare early releases by Mercyful Fate, and if you thought "Melissa" and "Don't Break the Oath" were great albums, you need to get this! 
The album, originally released in June 1987, consists of the band's first four-song EP, "Nuns Have No Fun" (released on Rave-On records in 1982), the three-song broadcast of Mercyful Fate live on the BBC, and a B-side from the "Melissa" recording sessions.
What a great idea this was, remastering that legendary EP, adding 3 BBC session tracks to it, a rare single and a raw, early version of "Black Funeral".
Overall, this album is a very worthy purchase for any Mercyful Fate fan, as it shows all the elements of their style honed to perfection and performed with raw, youthful abandon.

Mercy’s Dirge is one of the first Romanian Black Metal bands, formed back in 1991.
As the title suggests, all the songs were recorded live and likely in one take, and that’s actually the biggest pros of this album! Thus, "Live, Raw And Relentless" consists of 11 semi-length-range Black Metal songs. Actually, it is more of a very Raw Black/Death Metal mixture, but it is done in an Old-school manner, from a production to the artwork. Most of the music is very heavily rooted in the mid-80s to early-90s era.
Highly recommended for admirers of Celtic Frost, Atheist, Venom and similar early Black Metal acts!

The third album from Mesmur is a colossal and moving sonic rendering of a dying world. There’s quite a bit to like here, as no one does it quite like Mesmur, when it comes to exponentially Atmospheric Doom/Death. A very immersive experience that feels like the death knell of an alien world that we can only grasp partially, in short musical glimpses. An album of both crushing agony, and sublime beauty, of deep melancholy and sorrow. An engaging, absorbing experience, one which is well worth having for any fan of Funeral Doom.
Featuring guest flute and cello performances by Don Zaros (of Evoken) and Nadia Avanesova, and another stunning cover design by Ukranian painter Cadaversky, Terrene reaches new levels of scope and ambition for Mesmur in their objective to create a vast and immersive Doom Metal experience.

The debut full-length album by Polish Death/Thrash Metal band.
Ten tracks of traditional Death Metal that are up with changes in the melody and tempo. Good guitar work, leads and hard-hitting drums.
With a thickly produced rhythm section, the guitars churn out aggressively formulated riffs through a Metallic distortion with a Fuzzy edge. It is the rhythm section that really captures the attention, as the bass pulses and thumps the drums are tight and powerful, stamping authority on the music with its intrusive double pedals. Mess Age include lead passages effectively. The musicianship is solid enough to give the music on "Self Convicted" more of an impact than it may have had otherwise. It is reasonably strong material, with well-constructed riffs and an effective element of complexity in the melodic elements.
Vocalist Raaf bellows hoarsely but surprisingly expressively, phrasing the tortured, angry lyrics with a basic but effective style.
Whether or not this is a gratuitous display of boneheaded hostility, Mess Age still succeeds in offering some effective Metalworks. With a general grasp of how to be cold and aggressive, the uncompromising nature of the Thrash-tinged Metal on "Self Convicted" creates many enjoyable and absorbing moments. This is a commendable work that Mess Age should be proud of. Not bad album in all senses!

Three years later, this super-group have reconvened to do it again with their follow-up album.
It’s clear Metal Allegiance approached this record differently, paring down the list of guest guitarists from nine to just three. There are also fewer singers this go around, and they aren’t quite as obvious as with the first album. The main difference with this album is that it feels like the work of a true band and not a project. Formed in 1980 from the ashes of band Power, Metal Pesado recorded a self-titled two-track demo in 1993, and split-up in 1984... They reunited in 2006 and released a debut album in 2012.

Self-financed 3-way split single release among the three Canadian Thrash Metal bands.
This release becomes a nice entry into the whole Thrash Metal revival concept, as the bands all play a variation of some kind of early Thrash Metal sound, and each presents a unique yet true-to-it's-roots sound for the style.
First up on the split is Metalian from Montreal, contributing "Airborne Assassins". The song has stronger sound and influence from the earliest days of more technical Thrash Metal like Annihilator, but still holding some melodic elements and atmosphere comparable to NWOBHM acts like Judas Priest. It makes for an enjoyable sound, especially thanks to the more raw quality which leaves the songs to come off as if lost in time. The faster pace gives the song a bit of an aggressive sound, though the chorus moves at a much slower pace with stronger clean singing then the rest of the song as well as some backing falsetto's that sound great.
Next is the track "Raise the Flag" by now Nova Scotia-based Sanktuary, and it's another pretty strong track. The production quality here is greatly improved, though still has an eighties feel to it, which is something that is captured by each band, just portrayed differently through clarity. This song sounds more like it takes from bands similar to Megadeth with a NWOBHM atmosphere, though clearly more Thrash oriented. The guitar solo here is pretty enjoyable, and the overall faster pace of the song really makes it feel a little more aggressive, though comes off more as a stylish interpretation of the early eighties Thrash Metal sound.
This leads to a pretty strong closing track with Black Moor's contribution, "Awaken the Dead". The song feels like a mixture of Metallica-styled vocals and some harmonies against a more traditional early Thrash Metal sound. It's an interesting song and there's really nothing bad with it. The production quality does feel a little dirtier then "Raise the Flag" but not by much, still capturing the musical atmosphere and attitude of the sound. The raspy vocals have some good harmonization going on with plenty of energetic moments to them and the music throughout the song that really drive it all home, and a guitar solo that's pretty good here as well.
All the songs are solid and well executed from each band. Basically what you get on this compilation is three enjoyable songs from various ends of the early Thrash spectrum. It's interesting to hear these bands together and how much they vary, especially considering how similarly inspired by the roots of the style they truly are. This collective of old-school Thrash Metal will definitely satisfy those who miss the glory days of the style, and is definitely something well worth checking out!!

Album was released on September 12, 2008 through Warner Bros. Records. It was the band's first album to feature bassist Robert Trujillo and the first to be produced by Rick Rubin (Slayer’s producer), making this Metallica's first album since “...And Justice for All” (1988) that was not produced by Bob Rock.
“Death Magnetic” features very long, technical guitar solos from both Kirk Hammett and James Hetfield, marking a return to the band's Thrash Metal roots. “Death Magnetic” also the band's first album released through Warner Bros. Records, although they still remain with Warner Music Group, which also owns their previous label, Elektra Records. Outside of North America, they are distributed through Universal Music Group as they remain signed to Vertigo Records in the United Kingdom. The album is also the band's fifth consecutive studio album to debut at number one on the Billboard 200 in the United States, making Metallica the first band ever to do so.
