Whereas "Tina!" was released in North America, "The Platinum Collection" was released in Europe a few months later in anticipation of the European leg of her tour.
"The Platinum Collection" is a three-disc set with nearly all of Tina’s solo singles as well as some songs with Ike Turner. It’s almost definitive at 48 tracks in length. And it includes all of Turner's major hits, including six Ike & Tina Turner-era recordings ("Nutbush City Limits", "River Deep, Mountain High", "I Want to Take You Higher", "Get Back", "Come Together", "Proud Mary"), and goes all the way up to the latter-day hits "When the Heartache Is Over" and "Whatever You Need" from her most recent studio album, "Twenty Four Seven" (1999), and "Open Arms" - the one-off single from her best-of compilation "All the Best" (2004). In addition to all the hits, "The Platinum Collection" includes a couple new songs co-written by Guy Chambers ("It Would Be a Crime", "I'm Ready"), and fortunately it also includes her stunning collaboration with Italian superstar Eros Ramazzotti on his 1998 hit "Cose Della Vita". Although the album did not chart, it earned Turner a nomination in the "Best R&B Vocal Performance, Female" category at the 17th Annual Grammy Awards.
Fine mix of Country, Folky and Soft Rock tunes done in Tina's inimitable style. On this effort, she flexes her voice from its softest to its usual rough tone and moulds it perfectly around each cut. Drawing from a wide range of composers from Dylan to Dolly Parton to Kris Kristofferson to Hank Snow, ms. Turner should gain easy Soul and Pop play and possibly some Country play. Surprisingly effective are the slow cuts, and Tina proves just as adept an interpreter of other's material as she is a singer of original songs.

Five Singles were released from "Tina Live In Europe": "Nutbush City Limits", a cover of Robert Palmer's "Addicted to Love", "Tonight" with David Bowie, "A Change Is Gonna Come" and "634–5789" with Robert Cray. The most successful being "Addicted to Love", which has since become a mainstay in Turner's live repertoire and was later included on the European editions of her 1991 hits compilation "Simply The Best".
In 1989, "Break Every Rule" won a Grammy Award for "Best Female Rock Vocal Performance".

The follow-up to Turner's globally successful comeback album "Private Dancer", "Break Every Rule" is her first solo album of original songs. It nearly scored a second Billboard Hot 100 number one with the lead single "Typical Male", peaking at number two for three consecutive weeks in October 1986, while "Two People" and "What You Get Is What You See" reached the top 20. "Back Where You Started" earned Turner her third consecutive Grammy Award for "Best Rock Vocal Performance, Female" in 1987.
"Break Every Rule" reached No. 4 on the Billboard 200, No. 2 on the UK Albums Chart and No. 1 in Switzerland, and also Germany (for 12 weeks). The album sold over 5 million copies worldwide within its first year of release. The RIAA certified "Break Every Rule" Platinum, denoting 1 million shipments in the United States. It was also certified 2× Platinum in countries including Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and Canada.
