Second full-length album by the Swedish Neoclassical/Melodic Power Metal band.
Time Requiem's self-titled debut was a first-rate album that slipped under the radar of many Metal fans. Masterfully combining all favorable elements of Prog and Neo-Classical Metal, the album was full of energy and, quite simply, a blast to listen to.
The technicality Richard Andersson is renowned for is still present on second album. Kicking off with the frantic, blistering "Reflections", the album leaves a strong first impression. Twenty seconds of atmospheric synths and a quick bit of guitar doodling to warm up those digits and they're off! Frenetic first number "Reflections" makes it clear that it's another day at the races for the musical thoroughbreds behind Neo-Classical Metal masters Time Requiem and their second, technically dazzling Power Metal opus, 2004's "The Inner Circle Of Reality"! A 12-minute title track we hear next, pushing the envelope of Prog-tastic ambition to new heights of indulgence. Time Requiem display such mechanical, super-human speed and precision in songs like "Attar of Roses" and "Quest of a Million Souls," that one is left wondering if this is actually the work of men, not some Roboto-like automatons.
The keyboard playing in the CD is completely amazing. Richard Andersson without a doubt one of the best players out there.
With songs like “The Inner Circle Of Reality and “Attar Of Roses” gives you the option to realize that no matter how good you are these guys seem to get faster and cleaner within each song.
This is the CD that sets a pace that Progressive Metal should be placed on. Magnus Nord easily keeps up on the guitar with Richard and have runs together that are reminiscent of the old Deep Purple duels that Ritchie Blackmore and Jon Lord had however with a level in a while.
With a name taken from the gods Apollo Papathanasio has a voice that is suited for his name. Singing in an almost operatic style isn’t hidden behind the musicians but leads them with great style.
Time Requiem kicks open that door in a big way and continues in the same tradition of Rising Force but with an even more modern and energetic sound. If you're a fan of this sort of Prog Metal, grab this one for sure!!
