Clocking in at a taut nine songs in 39 minutes without a second of filler, "The End Complete" may be the definitive Obituary album. The band's third, it marks the return of lead guitarist Allen West and it also marks an impressive leap forward in production. The songwriting and playing on Obituary's past albums had been commendable, and "The End Complete" is no exception in that regard. Rather, it's the return of West and the remarkable production job by Scott Burns that sets this album apart from its predecessors. The return of West is important not only because his solos are one of the band's trademarks but also because he's an integral songwriter, here co-penning four of the nine songs. Burns' crystal-clear, in-your-face production is not to be underestimated, either. If anything had marred Obituary's past two albums, both of them otherwise excellent, it was the murkiness of the sound, especially the drums. That's not an issue here at all, however, as Obituary have never sounded this great. The guitar tones especially are downright vivid, particularly when West and rhythm guitarist Trevor Peres depart from one another such as during the solos (the title track is a great showcase for this, and so is "Rotting Ways"). You can practically feel the respective guitar tones buzzing through your head, they're so well recorded. And so are John Tardy's vocals, which are sometimes overdubbed to make them all the more potent and nuanced. They're so well recorded, in fact, you can actually understand some of the lyrics!
This album is Obituary's best selling, with over 200000 copies sold in the U.S. and more than 550000 worldwide. It reached #16 on Billboard's Top Heatseekers chart. Also, the band's new logo introduced on "The End Complete" is the best selling shirt print in the history of Roadrunner Records.

Remastered re-release of the fourth full-length album by the legendary American Death Metal band.
“World Demise” is a classic in the Obituary discography, recorded after one of the best sold Death Metal albums in history, “The End Complete”. Actually, this one is a bit different from the albums before, but always remaining Obituary style (rotten, down tuned Death Metal). Anyway, it is a bit slower with less fast parts. The biggest fast parts have some Hardcore components, so new for the band. The tempo parts are a bit changed, while the drums are less direct but more various and technical. The guitars as always low tuned. With this album, Obituary still remaining Death Metal, wanted to slow down a bit their music, concentrating the attention on the songwriting. The tracks are more complex, with more tempo changes and they are always supported by their typical atmosphere of death, their guitars so violent and obscure and finally the unique, animal growl of John Tardy. Vocalist John Tardy has always been recognized as being one of Death Metal’s best vocalists, and on "World Demise", it’s not difficult to see why.
"World Demise" saw Obituary successfully grind out another excellent Death Metal record which is easily memorable. The band tried a slightly Groovier style of writing while still retaining the brutal edge in which they had become so famous for in the first plac. "World Demise" is an excellent album, one which is highly recommended for Death Metal enthusiasts, and perhaps the last album in Obituary’s ‘near-immortal-status’ period within the Death Metal community. A must for every Death Metal fan!!

Remastered re-release of the second full-length studio album by legendary American Death Metal band.
A classic album in the history of Death Metal! A pride of the American Death Metal scene!! It’s band’s first release with permanent member Frank Watkins on bass, and also their first and only album with guitarist James Murphy, previously of the band Death.
The songwriting on “Cause Of Death” is still quite strong and reminiscent of “Slowly We Rot”. The songs continue to bleed into each other forming this solidarity of working compositions unified on a single front and acting as one. The riffs lend well to this, possessing a unique identity for each song while still lending to an organized whole. A special mention is given to Donald Tardy as he manages to beat the hell out of his kit with such force even a guitarist would let his jaw drop and marvel at the musicianship.
The cover art of album was done by artist Michael Whelan and was used in an H.P. Lovecraft collection, "Bloodcurdling Tales of Horror" and the Macabre", and part of it was used in "The Tomb and The Doom That Came to Sarnath" paperbacks. It was supposed to be the cover of Sepultura's album "Beneath The Remains", but Roadrunner Records let Obituary use it first, even though "Cause Of Death" was released in 1990, a year after "Beneath The Remains".
Pretty much indisputable and almost unique-sounding classics that came out in the right place at the right time, which is late eighties / early nineties Florida. This is a must-listen for death aficionados and everyone in need of a chillin’ trip back to the nineties. Strongly recommend you pick it up or die tryin’! This is Obituary’s last truly great effort and warrants purchase by even a casual Death Metal fan!! The completely original sound this band had crafted with their first two albums was something to behold and the mix of Doom and Death is even tastier than peanut butter and jelly!!!

Second re-release of the debut full-length studio album by legendary American Death Metal band.
If Death Metal first came to life during the mid- to late '80s courtesy of bands like Florida's Death ("Scream Bloody Gore"), another Florida band, Obituary, brought it to fruition in 1989 with "Slowly We Rot". These five guys took what bands like Death and the San Francisco Bay Area's Possessed had done to a new level of Deathliness. The music of Obituary wasn't simply an Extreme form of Slayer-esque Speed Metal with ghastly vocals; it was full-fledged Death Metal, with down-tuned guitar riffs of monstrous size, painful-sounding growls and moans for vocals, and distinct tempo changes that often brought the songs down to a lumbering Doomy tempo (a revolutionary thing at the time of release) rather relentlessly breakneck speeds à la Thrash. As one of the pioneers of this genre, they created a heavy album where everything was monstrous. From their down-tuned guitar riffs, deep growls and moans and distinct tempo changes.
Obituary's debut album was a ground-breaking release at the end of the 1980s. They were blazing a new trail, along with other Florida peers like Morbid Angel and, a bit later, Deicide, Malevolent Creation, and Cannibal Corpse. It is the only Obituary album to feature bassist Daniel Tucker. Lead guitarist Allen West would leave soon after, but returned for the third album, "The End Complete". Despite being recorded in standard tuning and with Fender Stratocasters, it is considered to be one of the band's heavier efforts. The remainder of the band's output has been recorded in D tuning.
"Slowly We Rot" is a historically significant album, not only in the context of Obituary's career but, more importantly, in the context of Death Metal in general. This is partly where it all began -- here and across the Atlantic, where the Grindcore bands of Earache were carving out their own niche, one that would soon overlap with that of Obituary and their peers...
