L.A. GUNS

The third full-length studio album by legendary American Glam Metal band.
Released in 1991, the meticulous production gives the album a sound typical of the period - a full sound, with lots of background harmony vocals, layered guitars and additional keyboard tracks.
The album starts in a more somber note with "Over the Edge", which was used in the film Point Break, but the bulk of it consists of standard Hard Rockers, such as "Kiss My Love Goodbye" and "My Koo Ka Choo". The band aims for the ballad hit several times, in "Crystal Eyes", "It's Over Now", and the 1950s-style "I Found You", attempting to repeat the earlier success of their major single "The Ballad of Jayne".
While no track from the album topped the charts (and the band's success declined soon afterwards as their style fell out of commercial favor), "Hollywood Vampires" presents various shades of the band and is representative of the late 1980s - early 1990s Heavy Metal scene, with riff-laden songs and big choruses on every song.
Rare first pressing edition with slightly different track listing. Track 11 is "The Ballad Of Jayne" (a shorter version than the one that appeared on the "Cocked & Loaded" album) instead of the song "I Found You" which appeared on other pressings.

Produced by former Guns N' Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke, "Shrinking Violet" is a harder-edged return to L.A. Guns' roots in Sleazy, crunching Glam Metal a la Kiss and Mötley Crüe.
Every track on this CD is a winner. Seriously, its really good! This is not the raw garage band that L.A. Guns has become known as, but largely sounds like a band trying something new because they have nothing to lose.
The songwriting is actually quite consistent overall; the end result is a surprisingly focused and effective album by a band that appeared all but spent as a creative force. New singer, Jizzy Pearl (ex- Love/Hate), brings a nice raw sound back to the band, as does Clarke's restrained yet muscular production. Gilby Clarke also provided additional guitars on the track "Dreamtime".
