The seventh full-length studio album by German Progressive Metal band.
Superb progressive Metallers Vanden Plas got together with Germany's bestselling author Wolfgang Holbein (who is a big fan of the band) to create a Rock Opera based on his series of "Chronicle Of The Netherworld" novels. Together, they created nineteen songs and entitled it "Blutnacht" (Bloodnight). Starring Vanden Plas vocalist Andy Kuntz in the lead role and with the rest of the band in the orchestra pit they played 25 sold-out performances in Germany throughout the 2012/2013 seasons to huge critical acclaim. With Holbein's agreement, Vanden Plas then decided to adapt the opera into the basis of their next studio release with Kuntz taking on all roles as 'Storyteller' and with the songs becoming heavier to suit the band’s fan base and an album format. “Chronicles Of The Immortals: Netherworld (Path One)” is the result and contains the first 10 songs of the story with the conclusion “Chronicles Of The Immortals: Netherworld II” released in 2015.
This album is mind-blowing and the work that has gone into this and the theater production absolutely incredible. Huge melody, emotion and power along with superb songwriting and ability make it the best album they have released. 
Central to the whole album is Andy Kuntz's incredible vocal performance, which is a true master class of singing. Musically, "(Path One)" also excels. Guitarist Stephen Lill is wonderful throughout and Keyboard Maestro Günter Werno plays with a passion bordering on the heart wrenching. Bassist Torsten Reichert and drummer Andrea Lill are also superb; the whole band effortlessly transferring the live songs to a studio format. What helps is that Vanden Plas have had the same lineup from day one, and they seem almost telepathically connected.
Not all concept albums are easy to follow but "(Path One)" bucks that trend. Lyrics are beautiful and, right from the start, you know exactly who is who and what is happening. Production is crystal clear and sounds huge. The whole thing is packaged with incredible artwork that also sets the scene for the story.
Without doubts, one of the best albums of 2014!

Formed back in 1978, Vanexa based their style on British Metal sounds, typical of the NWOBHM. Band was a part of the New Wave of Italian Heavy Metal bands (like Vanadium, Sabotage and Strana Officina), which were formed in Italy in late 70s - early 80s.
Band participated as the headliner at Rock in a Hard Place Festival in Certaldo (Florence), on May 21, 1983. Following the release of three studio albums between 1983 and 1994, they have been inexplicably silent until the Single “Too Heavy To Fly”, which was released in 2015. 
What we can get on “Too Heavy To Fly” album of 2016, is a resurgence of that Classic Metal sound, where the movement first captivated the world with this very vital scene. Fans of the band and the Classic sound will find things to their liking here. This could very easily be material composed in the early 1980s!

Power Metal is going to have its dairy requirements met no matter the era, in that there will always be some cheesy bands to exist. In the proud tradition of Manowar comes the Kansas City band Vanlade. Most of the members may have only reached drinking age a few months ago, but they wear their influences with pride, and "Iron Age" is their first chance to get noticed by the world at large.
The first thing about "Iron Age" that grabs your attention is the cover art, which should tell you exactly what you’re getting yourself into with Vanlade: Power Metal with the cheese factor turned up high.  Imagine the love child of Helloween, Manowar and Iron Maiden, and that is what your expectations should be for Vanlade. Kansas following the old flairs of the 80s, inspired by the hooks of Manowar, Wizard, Iron Maiden and Helstar while resembling newer acts as Skelator, has been forging their hardened plate with fire and thunder while slaying dragons and attempting to have a life by the sword by issuing their debut "Iron Age". Though pretty much reprising the same old ways of the bands mentioned plus more, without any type of original edge or something to brag about or to be called their own, they will power to protect true Metal!
Yes, Vanlade has some talent, and certainly, vocalist Brett Scott has some range, to the point of going absurdly high pitched levels. Anyway, more or less "Iron Age" sounded similar to a semi home recording. Vanlade has youth and energy on their side, and even if you can’t tell it on "Iron Age", there is potential. Vocals with significant range is a good start, and in time, the rest of the music will come around, and much of that can only be helped by improved production values.  Vanlade announced their arrival with "Iron Age", but it is up to them if they wish to take the steps necessary to stay in the spotlight.

The fourth re-release of the second full-length studio album by cult Greek Black Metal band.
Beginning in the early 1990s, a handful of musicians in Greece established one of the most distinctive and compelling regional sounds associated with the Second Wave of Black Metal. Rotting Christ laid the foundation for this particular sound, and other acts immediately followed suit, helping to define the Greek Black Metal sound and bring it to prominence within the international scene. Varathron is a legendary Occult Black Metal band from Greece since 1988, and is considered as one of the forefathers of the genre, next to Rotting Christ and Necromantia.
After releasing what is arguably the greatest Greek Black Metal album of all time, 1993’s “His Majesty At The Swamp,” Varathron recorded and released the superb follow-up, “Walpurgisnacht”, two years later. Since that time, the overwhelming brilliance of the former has often overshadowed the fact that “Walpurgisnacht” is a classic album in its own right. From the outset, with the opening track, “Tleilaxu (The Unborn Child)”, it is clear that “Walpurgisnacht” contains all the characteristic traits of Greek Black Metal. The riffs are sombre and melancholy, yet driven by a sense of mania, typically suddenly giving way to slower, majestic passages firmly set in the Hellenic tradition. Reminiscent of the early recordings of Monumentum, on “Walpurgisnacht” Varathron skilfully weave into the fabric of the album a slightly Gothic influence producing an unearthly effect in which transient, morose interludes and subtle keyboard flourishes accentuate the album’s mystical feel.
In many respects, “Walpurgisnacht” displays a maturation of the band in terms of composition and production. The writing and performance is every bit as passionate as Varathron’s earlier recordings, but the album’s broader scope reflects the band’s increased ambition. The songwriting here is versatile, displaying the nuanced complexity characteristic of all of Varathron’s work. Few albums convey a sound so deeply evocative; the melancholy atmosphere Varathron achieves is virtually unmatched in Black Metal songwriting. Delicate and morose passages are set amid contrasting incendiary riffs, working together to impart the magisterial grandeur of evil and the conjuration of malefic power.
As with “His Majesty At The Swamp”, Necromantia’s Magus Wampyr Daoloth (George Zacharopoulos) produced and engineered this album, but compared with Varathron’s earlier recordings, “Walpurgisnacht” sounds richer and fuller. The production on this recording is cleaner, permitting the listener to apprehend the immense spectrum of sound presented in the songs.
The lyrics of “Walpurgisnacht” are steeped in poetry, vividly evoking an alternate reality and enriching the multidimensional nature of the music. To serve that poetic end, Varathron utilized a verse from 1920 by American poet, E.A. Robinson, for the track “The Dark Hills” and enlisted the assistance of Chuck Keller, one of the greatest lyricists in Underground Metal, to provide the lyrics for “Birthrise of the Graven Image”.
The artwork, too, is unique and appropriate; the pagan imagery of the cover painting is the perfect visual accompaniment to the music and subject within.
When creating this album, Varathron paid attention to every detail, and the profound confluence of every element makes “Walpurgisnacht” not only one of Varathron’s most important works, but establishes this recording as one of the greatest works of an era.
The album features guest lead guitar by Sotiris Vayenas (Septic Flesh).
The re-release includes two bonus tracks.

The second full-length album by Spanish Brutal Death Metal band.
There are a lot of brutal death metal bands nowadays, but most of them lack the real Gory touch that can be found by the inspiration, that's why the bloody atmosphere that Velocidad Absurda are creating is somehow catchy and gory beyond the limits.
The band's sound is a mass hybrid of atypical Brutal Death Metal with all the vocal techniques championed in that style. Their form of Death Metal balances on the border of being almost Grindcore music. The music is ultra fast, blasting and spastic sound Death Metal. The spastic blasts and noisiness of the bands sound.
The music, even though it's spastic is very tight and clean sounding. The hammering blast-beating drums and the complex brutish guitars of this record continued the previous wild journey of the last full-length album "Reborn For The Extermination", but now the production and the wicked sound of the drums are louder and they are clear enough to cut your ears with this amount of bestial riffs.
They remind of a lot of the Death Grind bands that were 
coming out of the Czech Republic back in the 90's. The band has been joined by a new bassist on the release and pushed the old bassist over to vocals. The vocals are done in a low ended thick Death gurgle style with some mid ranged thick Death growls as well as a few pig squeals here and there.
This record proves that the Extreme Metal movement of Spain is getting better and better, there are a lot of skillful Spanish bands and Velocidad Absurda is one of these bands who try to spread their extreme music to every place in the world. 
If you consider yourself as one of the Brutal Death Metal freaks, then you must have a copy for this record now and start discovering the massacre that has been inserted to every track in this record!
This record is recommended for all the fans of: Cattle Decapitation, Aborted, Vile, Deeds Of Flesh and Skinless.

Second full-length album by Swedish Black Metal band.
Vemoth performing an abrasive, no-frills style that is high on punishment and low on innovation. Recorded in the famous Necromorbus Studio (Watain, Funeral Mist, The Ugly), the album contains nine Christ-crushing tracks of old school Black Metal in vein of the era back in the mid of 90’s, with a sound to kill for. Evil chilling riffs accompanied the hells apostles chanting.
The real strength of "The Upcoming End" lies in its sound. This record is loud, tense and bowls you over. The guitars shift between bloody edged, rapid fire melodies and walls of more Punkish Grinding Black Metal. Behemiron's vocals are vicious and loud, crowning the mayhem as they soar off into gates of infernal desolation. The material is consistently fast and carnal as on "Lida", "Without the Presence of God" and "Crush the Christian Lies". A few of the tunes (like the title track) have slower, glorious breaks with some good atmosphere, but even these are hostile.
The mix is swollen and biting and the equal of most high level Black Metal recordings, the band is intense and nonstop on their instruments. Despite the band's level of aggression, the band feels more violent than evil.

Once a part of the legendary label Noise Records, hail the Bavarian maniacal Metallers of Vendetta! Forged in the early 80s and gained their status in the late 80s, they became quite a force in their scene and in Europe, even without making it to the first league. The band’s first two albums of the band have been considered as pure Thrash Metal classics.
The concoction of American oriented Thrash Metal, a nasty wave of Punk, an explosive taste of aggressive Speed, cohered with early Kreator, and textured musical complexity, ended up as a thing of beauty. The songwriting didn’t bring to the table the high-flying choruses of the 80s, which also could be noticed on some major hits of the bigger Thrash bands, yet Vendetta’s utter decisiveness and technical merits escalated the basic forms of the genre and overthrew the marketable elements.
Vendetta, along with others that cross paths in the 80s, proved that Thrash Metal is far more intelligent that what it really showed. It is not merely music for the pit, but also something that will rattle your head. This is a highly recommended Thrash Metal classic! Don’t miss it as it is still relevant even nowadays!!
