The seventh full-length studio album by legendary Greek Atmospheric/Gothic/Symphonic Death Metal band.
The Greek legend has finally returned from its undead slumber to unleash brooding visions of much darker times and space unto an unsuspecting world. "Communion" is the first album since the band's split up, after the release of "Sumerian Daemons" in 2003, and the first to be released under the name Septicflesh following the band's name change, known before as Septic Flesh. Septicflesh first announced a reunion show at the Metal Healing Festival in their home-country on February 19, 2007 and shortly hereafter a new full-length on French label Season of Mist.
Septicflesh have once more renewed and refined all their trademarks: on the top layer stand massive guitar-walls of Death, sometimes coming close to Blackness and often interlaced with intricate Technical string-filigree. Underlining this fierceness with haunting Gothic melodies, the band has added an epic dimension by including a full classical orchestra with more than 100 musicians, arranged by guitarist Christos Antoniou, who has a master's degree in concert music from the London College of Music. The FILMharmonic Orchestra Prague recorded the compositions with 80 instrumentalists and a choir of 32 singers.
The Extreme elements of Septic Flesh are tempered with melody and contrasted nicely by the Symphonic elements. The songwriting and arrangements are excellent. It's a great mix of tempos, intensities, and atmospheres. From the beautiful to the brutal, "Communion" covers all the musical bases, and this is one of the best albums Septicflesh has done!

"Infernus Sinfonica MMXIX" is an utter masterpiece in nearly every way; a diamond in the rough of orchestral live shows. Even with Septicflesh’s brilliant use of orchestra in the studio since "Communion" back in 2008, little did you'll not realize how damned alive the beast could become!
The production is staggering. The orchestra is full and atmospheric, and sounds very close to the studio versions albeit with a sense of immediacy and living grandiosity, which works really well here. The mix is just stunning, and the partnership between powerful Metal-based instrumentation along with the Symphonic lends an almost tangible feel; as if you can really sink your teeth into the sound.
Probably what differentiates the tracks here from their studio editions, apart from the passionate Mexican crowd, are the demonic vocals of Seth Siro Anton. Yes, they sound great on the albums, but on this performance he just lets loose. This is one of the great vocal performances, and his impassioned growls help the tracks explode from the speakers. He holds the crowd in the palm of his hand with his various directions, demands and diabolical messaging.
It’s a brilliant live album, a fitting best-of, and an elevated aural experience of the world’s greatest Symphonic band! Septicflesh are the undisputable masters of Symphonic Death Metal, and this live experience is the perfect proof for this bold statement!!

Second re-release of the debut full-length album by the cult Greek Atmospheric/Symphonic Death Metal band.
Since their reunion, Septicflesh (Septic Flash before) have established themselves as a leading force of Symphonic Dark Metal with their critically acclaimed masterpieces “Communion” (2008) and “The Great Mass” (2011). "Ophidian Wheel" marks a critical turning point in the band's career. On this album, Septic Flesh further expanded their musical vocabulary, and added female soprano vocalist Natalie Rassoulis. Musically, this album is much more straightforward than previous albums, fusing an aggressive Death Metal style with elements of Gothic Rock.

The eighth full-length studio album by legendary Greek Atmospheric/Symphonic Death Metal band.
"The Great Mass" is a new symphonic masterpiece that constitutes a quantum leap in the art of amalgamating orchestral music with Heavy Metal. It was recorded between July - September 2010 in Devasoundz (Greece) and The Abyss (Sweden) with renowned producer Peter Tägtgren, who created the massive sound of "The Great Mass". The orchestration was written by Christos Antoniou and recorded with the FILMharmonic Orchestra Prague, including full choir and boy soprano.
Septicflesh's new songs are the audible evidence of guitarist Christos Antoniou, finishing his studies of classical composition with academic honours and distinction. The Greeks take the next logical step to take the courses they highly successfully set on their celebrated comeback-album "Communion" (2008). "The Great Mass" shows this band at the peak of their evolution over seven full-length releases since Septic Flesh's founding in 1990, in which the band combines massive deadly guitars at the edge of Blackness, with haunting Gothic melodies and cinematic Symphonic arrangements. 
The art, by the hand of Seth (vocals, bass), is a very important part of this release, the principal artwork for "The Great Mass’" is shown on the limited digipak edition, the gatefold vinyl and the dust jacket of the collector’s book.
In 2021, "The Great Mass" was elected by Metal Hammer as the 9th best Symphonic Metal album of all time.

The album is widely considered to be Septic Flesh's most Experimental and Progressive release. Also, it is the only Septic Flesh album not to feature guitarist/composer Christos Antoniou, as he took a leave of absence from the band during this period. And, though someone named "Kostas" is credited as a session drummer, all drums were programmed.
Infectious but yet pummelling hooks give way to melodic interludes and then suddenly break into heavy passages with tortured, shrieked vocals; "Εσοπτρον" ("Esoptron") showcases a young Septic Flesh further honing their craft and cementing themselves among the Heavy Metal elite.

“Arise” considered Sepultura's finest hour among long-time fans. While the music on “Arise” was mostly in the same Death/Thrash style as their previous album, “Beneath The Remains”, it was clear that the Sepultura sound was acquiring an experimental edge. First re-release of the fifth full-length album by the legendary Brazilian Death/Thrash Metal band.
This album can be considered very innovative looking back the other releases before it. Comparing this album with the others, it is totally different. The music here is heavily influenced by Discharge but it can be considered a big mix of Hardcore, Thrash, Tribal music and Death Metal. Well, the true Death Metal has a bit (a lot) gone away but some influences can be found in some riffs spread in the album. The tribal influences started with Arise album where were used only for the intros, but here we have the explosion of these ones. The atmosphere on this song is strange, in some parts is ritualistic…like early Brazilian music, made by the natives….in this case we can really see what would have been the band's style in the future. Its starts the Sepultura groove period that continued with the following, boring and too tribal influenced “Roots”. “Chaos A.D.” is probably the most mosh-worthy album in the history of Metal. Almost every track here is laden with brutal yet simple pit grooves that are nearly irresistible.
This is the last great Sepultura’s album. Like its two predecessors, “Chaos A.D.” received very positive reviews from music critics, with many commending the album's experimentation and sense of the band coming into their own. AllMusic declared it one of the best heavy metal albums of all time. The album was also a commercial success, debuting at #32 on The Billboard 200 and eventually being certified Gold for sales of more than 500,000 copies in the United States.
The original version included a hidden bonus at the end of "Clenched Fist" in the form of laughter outtakes from "We Who Are Not As Others", increasing the length of track 12 to 8:01. An American pressing on Epic separates the laughter outtakes to a 13th track lasting 2:01.

Sepultura, which means “grave” in Portuguese, founded in Belo Horizonte in 1984 by brothers Max and Igor Cavalera. The band has been a major force in the Groove, Thrash and Death Metal genres during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Later in their career, their style drew on influences from Alternative Metal, World Music, Nu Metal, Hardcore Punk and Industrial Metal. Sepultura is considered in the second wave of Thrash Metal acts from the late 80s to mid-1990s along with bands like Pantera, Testament, Sacred Reich, Dark Angel, Machine Head, Death Angel, and Forbidden. The band has released 16 studio albums, with the latest being “Sepulquarta” in 2021. Their most successful records are "Beneath The Remains" (1989), "Arise" (1991), "Chaos A.D." (1993) and "Roots" (1996). They have sold over three million records in the U.S. and 20 million worldwide, gaining multiple Gold and Platinum records around the globe, including in countries such as France, Australia, Indonesia and their native Brazil.
First, "Roots" is not Thrash Metal anymore. No one is disputing this but apparently, this causes a lot of distress for Sepultura fans who only like the "real" Sepultura i.e. pre “Chaos A.D.” era. A change in direction can be the best, worst or most indifferent thing that can happen to a band. In Sepultura's case it was the best...
It is the band's last studio album to feature founding member and vocalist/rhythm guitarist Max Cavalera. "Lookaway" features guest appearances by Korn vocalist Jonathan Davis, then-Korn drummer David Silveria, House Of Pain/Limp Bizkit turntablist DJ Lethal, and Faith No More/Mr. Bungle vocalist Mike Patton. Riff-wise, "Roots" also draws influence from the then-surging Nu Metal movement, specifically Korn (whose first two albums were also produced by "Roots" producer Ross Robinson) and Deftones. After leaving the band, Max Cavalera would continue to pursue the Nu Metal and World stylings of "Roots" with his solo project Soulfy.
While it certainly isn't the fastest or Thrashiest of Sepultura's albums, it's the most interesting, dynamic, coolest sounding and great!
Since its release, "Roots" has sold over two million copies worldwide.

Sepultura, which means “grave” in Portuguese, founded in Belo Horizonte in 1984 by brothers Max and Igor Cavalera. The band has been a major force in the Groove, Thrash and Death Metal genres during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Later in their career, their style drew on influences from Alternative Metal, World Music, Nu Metal, Hardcore Punk and Industrial Metal. Sepultura is considered in the second wave of Thrash Metal acts from the late 80s to mid-1990s along with bands like Pantera, Testament, Sacred Reich, Dark Angel, Machine Head, Death Angel, and Forbidden. The band has released 16 studio albums, with the latest being “Sepulquarta” in 2021. Their most successful records are "Beneath The Remains" (1989), "Arise" (1991), "Chaos A.D." (1993) and "Roots" (1996). They have sold over three million records in the U.S. and 20 million worldwide, gaining multiple Gold and Platinum records around the globe, including in countries such as France, Australia, Indonesia and their native Brazil.
"Roots" is the band’s sixth studio album. First, this is not Thrash Metal anymore. No one is disputing this but apparently, this causes a lot of distress for Sepultura fans who only like the "real" Sepultura i.e. pre “Chaos A.D.” era. This Box Set originally was released back in November 2022 on colour vinyl in the US only. Fortunately, it was re-released in Europe in August 2024 on black vinyl. This 5LP Box Set features two LPs with 2017 remastered version of original album (incl. bonus song "Canyon Jam"), two LPs of alternate rough mixes and takes (plus demo version), remastered for ultimate fidelity, and a LP of their unreleased performance at Ozzfest at Phoenix, October 25, 1996, found in the Warner vaults and exclusive to this box. "A-Lex" lyrics inspired by Anthony Burgess' book "A Clockwork Orange", which was the basis for the Stanley Kubrick film. And, the impressive thing is that Sepultura pull this off without sounding either geeky or pretentious. For all its intellect, this album doesn't sacrifice anything when it comes to intensity; this is a vicious, loud sledgehammer of an album, and the kids in the moshpit will have no problem connecting with Alternative Metal scorchers like "Filthy Rot", "The Treatment", "Paradox", and "Forceful Behavior" on a gut level. 
There was a time when the idea of Sepultura recording without Max Cavalera (their former lead singer) seemed unthinkable; Cavalera played a vital role on pre-Green albums such as 1991's "Arise" and 1993's "Chaos A.D.". But, the incendiary Green turned out to be a fine replacement after Cavalera left Sepultura to form Soulfly in 1996, and he certainly helps bassist Paulo Jr., guitarist Andreas Kisser, and drummer Jean Dolabella get the job done nicely on "A-Lex". Personnel changes can have a very negative effect on a band, but Sepultura have maintained their vitality all these years -- and that vitality is alive and well on the superb "A-Lex".
"A-Lex" sold 5,000 copies in its first week of release in Brazil and 1,600 in its first week of release in the United States. It was considered by the Brazilian edition of Rolling Stone Magazine as one of the Top 25 Brazilian albums of 2012.

Band's first release with new frontman Derrick Green, who replaced founder Max Cavalera in 1997.
Like "Roots" that preceded it, the album has a variety of guest musicians and incorporates tribal influences – Japanese percussion elements are added with the assistance of Japanese taiko group Kodo.
"Against" was a commercial disappointment compared to "Roots", selling only 18,000 copies its first week in the US. It has sold over 130,000 copies in the United States. The band supported Metallica in the latter's May 1999 tour in Brazil.
"Against" marked the beginning of a trio of Alternative Groove/Hardcore hybrids which made the band lose basically 75% of its then-current active fanbase. "Against" is unrivalled, nobody will ever make an album like this again. This is like nothing else, nobody has the courage (or faintest hint of interest, rather) to try and replicate the approach this album takes. This is one of the most recognizable records the Metal scene will ever lay its eyes upon. This album constantly makes you forget how simple it is, the unusual progression of songs is unlike anything you've heard and will hear. The guitar rarely plays a riff/lead one can't headbang to, and that instead of technically impressive and complex leads is more than accepted because this album seemingly doesn't need any of that to be as effective as it is now. The drumming also isn't very impressive, Igor does his job of delivering a drum performance that does what it’s supposed to do, but it's not anything more than very fitting for the album itself.
So yeah, "Against" represents the peak of a band having found an identity of its own and making the best use imaginable of it. There are loads of albums that are different and unusual in how they sound. But "Against" is different. This is all that the genre "Alternative Metal" stands for, it's so god-damn effective in just how Alternative it is that it's by far one of the most memorable pieces of music. Love it or hate it, this is "Against", one of the best albums the Metal scene will ever bring forth!

“Arise” considered Sepultura's finest hour among long-time fans. While the music on “Arise” was mostly in the same Death/Thrash style as their previous album, “Beneath The Remains”, it was clear that the Sepultura sound was acquiring an experimental edge. Remastered re-release of the fifth full-length album by the legendary Brazilian Death/Thrash Metal band.
This album can be considered very innovative looking back the other releases before it. Comparing this album with the others, it is totally different. The music here is heavily influenced by Discharge but it can be considered a big mix of Hardcore, Thrash, Tribal music and Death Metal. Well, the true Death Metal has a bit (a lot) gone away but some influences can be found in some riffs spread in the album. The tribal influences started with Arise album where were used only for the intros, but here we have the explosion of these ones. The atmosphere on this song is strange, in some parts is ritualistic…like early Brazilian music, made by the natives….in this case we can really see what would have been the band's style in the future. Its starts the Sepultura groove period that continued with the following, boring and too tribal influenced “Roots”. “Chaos A.D.” is probably the most mosh-worthy album in the history of Metal. Almost every track here is laden with brutal yet simple pit grooves that are nearly irresistible.
This is the last great Sepultura’s album. Like its two predecessors, “Chaos A.D.” received very positive reviews from music critics, with many commending the album's experimentation and sense of the band coming into their own. AllMusic declared it one of the best heavy metal albums of all time. The album was also a commercial success, debuting at #32 on The Billboard 200 and eventually being certified Gold for sales of more than 500,000 copies in the United States.
