For the first time on vinyl, the second full-length studio solo-album by legendary American coloratura soprano singer of Ukrainian ethnicity, Kvitka “Kacey” Cisyk.
A follow-up to her previous album, "Songs Of Ukraine" (1980), "Two Colors" is a powerful and deeply emotional collection that highlights the beauty of traditional Ukrainian Folk music.
Poured her heart into this album, she sings the songs that we have long known and loved. But the main thing here is still something else – namely, how these songs are sung and played. And it is done really skilfully, and in such way that one immediately feels – every song has been cherished, pampered as if a beloved child, for which one does not begrudge either the heart or the effort. Everything here is harmonious – the voice so gentle and clear, and the cautious, and thus very appropriate interventions of the orchestra, and even use of the instruments not traditional for such songs.
Fragility is the first impression that arises at the beginning and is there already after the music subsides. And, of course, it is nice that this is singing of a person who lived not in Ukraine but in the U.S. and sang both in English and in Ukrainian.
If you want to show someone the beauty of the Ukrainian song, or how this beauty can be preserved far beyond the Ukrainian land – this Ukrainian Symphonic Folk album will be a good example.
