Roaring back after the grief and bloodletting of 2019's "The Nothing", metal veterans Korn add yet another highlight to their late-era renaissance with their 14th set. The intense, focused assault is as simple and no-frills as can be, a slim nine tracks of introspection, growth, and, shockingly, a faint sense of optimism.
Recorded during the COVID-19 lockdown, the band found themselves with no deadlines, no label pressure, and plenty of time to simply record as a full unit (even though founding bassist Fieldy was on hiatus for personal reasons, his basslines are still here). With that space, they tapped into something that's a rarity on a Korn album: setting sights on hope and healing. The hit of serotonin for longtime fans is an absolute joy.
Against the odds, Korn have done it again with "Requiem", a quick and ferocious blast that finds the band still hungry and innovative nearly 30 years into the game.
"Start the Healing", the first single off the album, peaked No. 1 on the Mediabase Active Rock chart on February 7, 2022.
"Requiem" debuted at number fourteen on the US Billboard 200 with 23 500 album-equivalent units, of which 20 000 were pure album sales. It is Korn's first album since 1994 to not peak Top-10. As of the end of 2022, the album has sold over 90 000 traditional copies in the US, and over 110 000 copies worldwide. In Australia, the album peaked No. 1 for the first time since 2002. The album debuted worldwide in 31 total countries, debuting No. 1 in 7 countries, receiving phenomenal success Internationally.

After a three-year break that included solo projects and soundtrack work, Korn's re-emergence in the summer of 2002 was met with great anticipation. They delivered an album that shows them building on their previous sound and emphasizing its strengths.
The use of melody is more important than ever, allowing Jonathan Davis to utilize his wide palette of vocal tricks. His charismatic voice can now move from a clear-throated wail to a Death Metal growl with ease, lending the album a manic side that brings to mind "King For A Day, Fool For A Lifetime"-era Faith No More.
The band is far more experimental this time out, delivering Helmet-like ringing guitars that melt and morph into each other, a mix of Metallica-esque blastbeats and tight Funk drumming from the constantly improving David Silveria, and memorable riffs that take the shape of dark sound structures and offer more than just a collection of chords. In fact, it is the last point where the album sets itself apart from most Nu-Metal offerings; Korn understand that the overall sound of Hip-Hop works because of the sonic stew that producers create through samples. The band does the same with instruments, cutting the chugging riffs of the past and replacing them with edgy soundscapes that are equally as menacing. There isn't even a Rapped verse here, save for Davis' rhythmic scatting at moments, further distancing the band from the scene it helped create. But by cutting away some of the fat and finding new ways to deliver their trademark roar, Korn manage to offer a strong and lean album that maintains their place as innovators in a genre with few leaders!
The album featured the Grammy-winning single "Here to Stay". It's debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 with 434,000 copies sold during its first week, and was certified Platinum on July 11, 2002. The album has sold over 4,000,000 copies in the US as of January 4, 2013 and over 5 million copies worldwide!!

"Follow The Leader" is the band's most commercially–successful album, being certified five-times Platinum by the RIAA.The album peaked at number one on four national charts, including the US Billboard 200 with 268,000 units sold in its first week of release. Its singles, "Got the Life" and "Freak on a Leash", both charted on more than three charts, and their music videos are considered to be the first music videos retired from MTV, most notably the MTV show Total Request Live. It was the band's first album not produced by Ross Robinson. Instead, it was produced by Steve Thompson and Toby Wright.
The song "Freak on a Leash" was nominated for nine MTV Video Music Awards, and won for the Best Rock Video award, as well as Best Editing. The music video for "Freak on a Leash" won Best Short Form Music Video at the 2000 Grammy Awards.
