True to their course, however, they've never sounded like anyone but themselves. Even on a collection of covers (with a pair of originals thrown in to boot), the Slayer imprint is unmistakable, and while taking a breather from fresh ideas on their own projects, this disc sounds like the band members were having a blast if not exactly breaking new ground.

First DVD by the legendary American Thrash Metal Band.
Recorded at Warfield Theatre in San Francisco, California, on December 7, 2001, it is the band's second video album.
This must be what fans have been waiting for and undoubtedly rekindles the fires of their past live offerings. The main attraction of this DVD is yet another bold and terrifyingly energetic performance from the band, which is just what fans would expect. Included also is a rather hilarious 50 minute documentary, full of stupid fans doing stupid stuff, a video for the “God Hates Us All” cut "Bloodline", an interview with the band, and a rather small photo gallery.
It is the last release by Slayer with drummer Paul Bostaph (before he came back in 2013), who left due to a chronic elbow injury. Bostaph was subsequently replaced by the original Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo.
"War At The Warfield" was well received by critics, debuting at number three on the Billboard DVD chart, and sold over 7000 copies in its first week. It was certified Gold for selling over 50000 copies. It also won a 2003 Metal Edge Readers' Choice Award for DVD of the Year.

Released through American Recordings and Sony Music on November 3, 2009, the album was produced by Greg Fidelman and executive produced by Rick Rubin. It is the band's only album produced by Greg Fidelman. Furthermore, it is the band's first studio album to be played in E-flat tuning since “Divine Intervention”.
"Hate Worldwide" and "World Painted Blood" were both nominated for Best Metal Performance at the 53rd Grammy Awards, and the album peaked number two on the US Top Hard Rock Albums chart, as well as twelve on the Billboard 200 and 41 on the United Kingdom album chart.

The final studio album released by the band to include two longtime members: bassist and founding member Paul Gray, who was found dead in an Iowa hotel on May 24, 2010, almost two years after the release of "All Hope Is Gone", and drummer Joey Jordison, who departed from the band in December 2013.
"All Hope Is Gone" considered as the band's most eclectic-sounding album, incorporating elements from their previous three. Songs such as the opening track "Gematria (The Killing Name)" and the title track espouse the band's more brutal, Death Metal-influenced edge, reminiscent of songs such as "(sic)" from their debut self-titled album; slow burning, "trippy" elements such as "Gehenna", reminiscent of "Skin Ticket" from their second album "Iowa"; and more tragic, sentimental tracks such as "Dead Memories" and "Snuff".
Lyrically, "All Hope Is Gone" centers on themes such as anger, disaffection, obsession, and the music industry. The album name also features a more prominent focus on politics than their previous albums.
"All Hope Is Gone" reached the top position on nine record charts worldwide, including the Billboard 200 - the first Slipknot album to do so. It was certified Platinum by the RIAA on August 10, 2010 for shipments in excess of 1,000,000 albums in the United States.

The band’s only album produced by Rick Rubin, and also the only one not to feature harsh profanity.
Following the band’s tour to promote its second album in 2002, speculation regarding the future began. Some band members had already been involved in side projects including Murderdolls, To My Surprise, and the reformation of Stone Sour. However, in 2003, Slipknot moved into The Mansion to work on the album.
Initially, the band was unproductive; lead vocalist Corey Taylor was drinking heavily. Nevertheless, they wrote more than enough material for a new album - the band’s first to incorporate more traditional, melodic song structures, guitar solos and acoustic guitars.
"Vol. 3" shares its lyrical themes of anger, disaffection, and psychosis with most of Slipknot's Nu-Metal peers, what makes it tick is the dedication to making it a Slipknot album, and not just another flashy Alt-Metal billboard. The seething anger and preoccupation with pain is valid because it's componential to the band's uniquely branded havoc.
Rubin is integral to the album's power, his cataclysmic vocal filters and arrays of unidentifiable squiggle and squelch unite "Vol. 3"'s various portions in wildly different ways. It's a satisfying, carefully crafted representation of their career to date.
The album peaked within the top ten in album sales across eleven countries, and went Platinum in the United States. The band also received the Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance for the song "Before I Forget". At the end of 2009, "Before I Forget" was listed as AOL’s "Top Metal Song of the Decade". Roadrunner Records have listed the music video for "Duality" as the best video in Roadrunner history.

Smashed Ruins is a two man's Black Metal project from Germany with a goal: create atmosphere without distracting vocals and thus add a new dimension to the musical scene. Those who expect endless guitar licks and loads of melodic passages will be disappointed by SILENCE. Seven songs without vocals (apart from some screams) that actually create some sort of dark atmosphere.
At the end of the day this record is more or less an atmospheric Black Metal record that spares us the vocals. Anyhow, you should check those guys out.

The album was a commercial success throughout Europe. It reached No. 6 in the UK Albums Chart, spending five months there and ultimately gaining a Silver status in Britain. The record topped the charts in several European countries, including Germany, Austria, Sweden, and Norway.
