The debut full-length studio album by cult Norwegian Symphonic Gothic Death/Doom Metal band.
New Band of Morten Veland (ex-Tristania). On this release, he is moving on along the path he was walking with Tristania's "Beyond The Veil". This is Sirenia's only album featuring the vocals of French singer Fabienne Gondamin.
Sirenia's debut album is a continuation of Veland's compositional work with Tristania, a band that he had left only two years before, so it corresponds to the most classical Gothic/Symphonic Metal style of his catalogue. The band made use of contrasting vocals – male bass vocals (making some use of clean vocals and Death grunts) and female whispering vocals, with interludes of a symphonic choir. As is the usual in all Sirenia albums, Veland is the sole author of all the tracks, to which he gave a very introspective and personal character. Also, he played most of the instruments that were used.
Lyrically, it has dark and long songs, with gothic and human existence themes (especially related to death and mental decline), in a complex structure of very similar metre and tempo among all, except the last one. It is something probable that the album title and its main track reflected Morten Veland's mood in that time. Similarly, numerous of the songs on this album and the next one of Sirenia refer to the disturbed mental conditions, a topic in which its writer was particularly interested. "At sixes and sevens" is an English idiom very common in the United Kingdom. Used to describe a condition of confusion or disarray. The similar phrase "to set the world on six and seven", used by Geoffrey Chaucer, seems -in its context-, to mean "to hazard the world" or "to risk one's life".
The woman on the cover is a Norwegian model, picked by the designer to represent a Siren.
The Orchestral Gothic Metal of Morten Veland's Sirenia is more than ambitious on the band's debut, "At Sixes And Sevens" - it's almost cosmic in scope and epic by any standard. A cadre of operatic vocalists and classical musicians wrap Veland's songs in a composite sheen that's rare even within a genre known for grand soundscapes. When highlights like the anthemic "Shadow of Your Own Self" get into gear, "At Sixes And Sevens" rolls like thunder and flows like the bitter tears of Veland's less-accomplished Goth/Doom colleagues!

"Nightmares Of The Decomposed" was the first Six Feet Under album on which Chris Barnes and former Cannibal Corpse guitarist Jack Owen worked together. This collaboration, which already existed when Barnes was still the singer in Cannibal Corpse, is now entering its second round with "Killing For Revenge".
2020's "Nightmares Of The Decomposed" wasn't certainly Six Feet Under's finest moment; guitarist Jack Owen rejoining Chris Barnes - for the first time since their Cannibal Corpse days - turned out to be a rather disappointing outcome for all those expecting a throwback to early 90s Death Metal, and the questionable vocal performance on the record was heavily ridiculed by the internet mob. A lot of the hate and disdain towards Barnes actually seemed to stem from some of his online bickering with haters and instigators, and while the man sometimes went over the top with some of his tweets, his reaction was quite understandable; he's one of the originals when it comes to death metal, he contributed to some absolute classics of the genre and pretty much defined the guttural growling and splatter lyrics template, and while this doesn't mean that he should always get a pass, at least he deserves some respect. He became a meme instead, and this shitstorm almost overshadowed his many accomplishments. For a moment, it seemed like Six Feet Under was done for good, but Owen came to the rescue of his old friend and restored his morale by writing a whole new record, even going as far as writing 90% of the lyrics and vocal patterns. The album took on a meaningful title, "Killing for Revenge"!
The 4 years between "Nightmares Of The Decomposed" and this new record brought some fresh air; Barnes reportedly quit both smoking weed and drinking, and in general - judging from some recent interviews and from the ongoing US tour with the Nile - he's humbled by the support he got from his hardcore fans, and he seems to be in a positive headspace. This attitude seems to have influenced the outcome on "Killing for Revenge", which definitely is a step up from the previous record. The line-up also stuck together, with Barnes and Owen at the helm, joined by Jeff Hughell, Marco Pitruzzella and Ray Suhy.
The album offers a good presentation from the get-go, with a great cover artwork painted by none other than Vince Locke, the legendary artist behind all Cannibal Corpse artworks. Chris Barnes was the one who actually hired him for "Eaten Back To Life" back in 1990, so it seems like things finally came full circle; Locke's style is unmistakable, and the painting is actually better than everything he's done for Cannibal Corpse since "The Bleeding".
"Killing For Revenge" is full of slow, Doomy yet crushing Death Metal in the typical Six Feet Under style.
Chris Barnes certainly sounds better on this release compared to the controversial "Nightmares Of The Decomposed", offering a performance that is more in line with how he sounded on "Torment" or "Crypt Of The Devil"; while probably still not good enough for his haters, and he seems to have regained some power, as well as part of his guttural range.
"Killing For Revenge" is an honest record that puts Six Feet Under back on track after a few difficult years, and it's a redeeming effort that deserves some attention. While it would have been naive to expect a masterpiece from two songwriters who are next to being 60 years old, it's still a worthwhile album. It's an old-school, Neanderthal-sounding Death/Thrash Metal record that goes for the throat for most of its running time, and unless you're a Gen-Z, stuck-up technical Death Metal elitist, you're gonna find yourself sporting an evil grin while listening to it.

The sixth full-length studio album by Italian Heavy Metal band.
With all of their mighty and long history since their formation in 1982, Skanners didn't stand with the big boys. Although these guys have a sense to create memorable songs on all of their albums, including "Factory Of Steel", they use the same formula as everyone else did back in the 80s and even today. Catchy tunes is the name of the game and in the case of Skanners, they implement catchiness everywhere on the album. "Factory OF Steel", on its whole, is a wonderful release with memorable songs. Nevertheless, the reason it can’t get higher than the grade given, is because as each track fades, the general idea is the same. It is like Skanners didn't even try to step out of the shell a bit and create something that might eventually be different from what they had done throughout their long career.
Skanners advantage is their experience that led them to remain classic even nowadays where heaviness is a very important to create powerful music. Their way to create memorable tunes is top notch as they follow the strict line of the 80s. Nevertheless, they will have to put some extra flavor into their future songs.
Whoever appreciates 80s German Heavy Metal, like Accept, old Helloween, Primal Fear and Sinner, will get a kick out of Skanners' Metal way!

The fifth full-length studio album by Italian Heavy Metal band.
"The Serial Healer" is without a doubt for fans of old school Metal acts such as Judas Priest, Accept and Grave Digger, who will appreciate the continued dedication this band of northern Italian bards has for the genre.
With a long history in the Metal scene, "The Serial Healer" being band's fifth release in twenty-two years, it is not surprising that the Skanners have been able to hone their skills and craft solid Metal soundscapes. Band are led by two original members, guitarist Fabio Tenca and vocalist Claudio Pisoni. Claudio is graced with a voice that can only be compared to Metal God, Rob Halford. Like Rob, Claudio is able to grab a song with his voice and carry it to another level. Fabio’s guitar work is solid and extremely well performed throughout the album. Also, rounding out the foray are returning members, guitarist Walther Unterhauser and bassist Renato Olivairi, as well as newer drummer Kranauer Christian.
It does not get much better than the first five tracks of "The Serial Healer". From the heavy opening riff of "Soul Finder" through the gallop of "Iron Horse" it show that these guys have an undeniable passion for great hook laden traditional Metal. They keep things at a more controlled pace with "The Dream", bring to mind some slower Priest moments, before returning to their familiar onslaught with "Flash Razor" and "Beyond Darkness". "The Serial Healer" wraps up with the acoustic driven "Immortality".
It always surprises when a band of this talent seems to get overlooked by the Metal community. Claudio is an amazing vocalist and should be mentioned alongside the great vocalists of this form of Metal. If you get in the mood for some older styled Metal do yourself a favor and check out Skanners, even though they are not breaking new ground they are without a doubt building upon the solid foundation poured by the forefathers of Metal!!

The second and the final full-length studio album by cult American Death/Thrash Metal/Grindcore band.
Skeletal Earth was one of those bands that stuck out. Being influenced by both Death and Thrash Metal, as well as the more Crossover style where Hardcore Punk meets Metal, they came up with an original sounding couple of demos and albums.
"Dē.ĕv'ṓ.lū'shŭn" was recorded at Tampa, Florida based Morrisound Studios (Death, Cynic, Agent Steel) and produced by Scott Burns (Cannibal Corpse, Atheist, Deicide). But due to the end of the label around the same time as the release, "Dē.ĕv'ṓ.lū'shŭn" never had any serious promotion nor distribution.

The only Single release by Finnish Funeral Doom Metal band.
Skepticism are considered as pioneers of Funeral Doom Metal genre. Given their previously exposed penchant for lengthy, Ambient-tinged, deliberately composed works, it seems almost inevitable that the band would eventually choose to make a release composed of a single track. It's actually more surprising, that of their discography "Aes" is the only record in such a vein. That being said, it's good enough that the band probably doesn't need another such release under their belt. Of all the overambitious, massive releases in the history of Metal, "Aes" is one of the best, and one of the few that doesn't collapse under the weight of its own ambitions. "Aes" reached uncharted melodies and the music is bludgeoningly heavy and brutal for the amount of heart crushing feelings it brings with each listening.
Skepticism is a respected being by an open-minded group of elite Funeral Doom people that will very much be attracted to the appeal of this unique release. Innovative use of clear paper packaging and obscure layout make this pleasurable to your eyes as well as ears and mind.
Skepticism is one of the most truly neoclassical projects in Metal today, and "Aes" makes this clearer than possibly any of their other releases. If you're interested in something Progressive - you should absolutely acquire this disc and listen to it closely! With "Aes", Skepticism have achieved a level of compositional elegance and intelligence rarely matched elsewhere in modern music as a whole!!

For the first time on vinyl, the third full-length studio album by Argentinean Power/Folk Metal band.
Officially founded in 2004 in Argentina, Skiltron is the leading Folk Metal band from South America, now based in Finland. The band have made of his sound a unique trademark, merging the power of Heavy Metal with the charm of the Celtic tunes.
"The Highland Way" will provide few surprises for an experienced listener of the band, but rather sees a smooth continuation of the red-hot form they hit with "Beheading The Liars" back in 2008. Their Scottish-themed anthems remain vibrant and recognizable among much competition in the current arena, and stand out from the bustling crowd with deceptive ease due to their less conventional melding of Folk music with galloping Speed/Power metal. Superficially it may appear to make little differences, but fans of the first two albums will notice the subtle differences and the continuation of the band’s gradual march towards finally locking their Folk and Metal sounds together seamlessly.
Diego Valdez has really settled into his role as vocalist on his second outing with the band - his powerful voice the battle cry that leads the rest of his teammates forward, and the soaring choruses are often the thing that kicks the songs up a notch from good to great.
Always the most prominent aspect of the Skiltron sound, the pipes, nevertheless enjoy an even more significant role in the songs, while still managing to avoid the curse of completely swamping them, something too many modern Folk Metal bands seem unable to avoid when it comes to making use of non-Metal instruments.
Switching up between crushing Speed Metal attacks and more expansive epics where acoustic guitars and mandolins add extra flavour, "The Highland Way" is an album that is expertly paced with a natural ebb and flow to the songs, shifting up and down the gears at all the right moments to ensure a cohesive listen. And it's highly recommended to all fans of Power and especially Folk Metal!

Re-release of the third full-length album by Italian Ambient Black Metal band.
Fine cult Heathen Ambient/Folk Black Metal in the old Bathory style from ex-member of Opera IX! This is really a project of artist with the pseudonym M., who otherwise mainly relies on a session musicians.
The album combines Black Metal with Epic structures and dynamic atmospheric parts. Varied emotions and moods are translated into professional music. Four songs feature quite a variety Metal style from somber with acoustic guitar, that are done beautifully before the band picks up the pace with icy, raw guitars. The drumming is done extremely well with slow to mid paced drums. M. vocals show a range of emotion mainly using the Black Metal shrieks but there are also some deeper Death growls used in a few songs and even some clean vocal patterns and chants.
Raw Black Metal with melody, primeval chanting and ancient Folk influences. Atmospheric songs take the listener into the ancient world of myths and legends. "Grisera" is very solid Ambient Black Metal album that indulges only slight flaw that it is much too short. Definitly worth the price if you’re a fan of Folkish Black Metal!!

Skyclad often referred to as “the originators of Folk Metal”. "In The… All Together" mixes the usual Thrash/Speed Metal influences with the extraordinary Folk melodies that made the band famous all around the world, maintaining a fresh and dynamic approach which gives a strong live dimension to the new songs. This album was recorded completely by the band members. There are no 'guests' or orchestras etc. This was a deliberate move to try to keep the recordings as 'live and fresh' as possible, and one aimed at taking the band into the studio 'all together'. This wasn’t exactly a 'back to basics' strategy, as the songs on the new album are far from basic, as the band continues to experiment with odd timings and tunings. Another benefit of this approach is that Skyclad will be able to play more of the album songs live.
Another Skyclad album, which is reasonably filler-less, because even the 'iffy' songs are somewhat interesting, and they definitely can't be accused of being boring or forced, and after the last notes of "In The... All Together!" you're left with a hunger for more and keep repeating this CD's highlights!

Debut full-length album by the Russian Melodic Death/Black Metal band.
Skyfall was formed in 2003 by two talented musicians, Alexander and Nocturne.
They started playing following the canons of Sympho Black Metal. Hints of Death Metal could already be heard in their first demo-CD, and this trend continued with their subsequent albums. Their current style is a form of Blackened Death Metal, with shattering bass, tough guitars, fierce vocals and thundering percussion. Aggression, anguish, power and drive are the integral components of every note that this band produces. Professionalism at the highest level is evident in the quality of every performance. While listening to Skyfall lyrics, one finds oneself with a sense of melancholy, while the subconscious explores the hidden depths of despair. The lyrics complete the picture of the band's art, creating a sense of inevitable retribution.

It’s been a decade since Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy And The Conspirators released their debut album together, and since then have been on one of the more impressive and unrelenting tears in Rock ‘n’ Roll, issuing two more hard-hitting, highly-acclaimed records, and rocking stages all over the world. Since their debut, Slash has amassed album sales of over 100 million copies, garnered a Grammy Award and 7x Grammy nominations, and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Though Slash reunited with Guns N' Roses in 2016, he has still continued with his solo work - this being the second studio album release in that time period. This is the first album to come from the newly formed relationship with Gibson Records and BMG.
Writing for the album started during the 2018-19 Living the Dream Tour. Looking to record the album differently than previously, the band travelled to Nashville to record at RCA Studio A with Dave Cobb. The band faced the complications of COVID-19, not only in a delay of getting together to record the album, but also with the recording itself. Myles Kennedy was the first of several band members to contract the virus. He points out that you can hear his congestion on the opening track, but states that these anomalies make the album interesting because "We just let those imperfections lay".
