The second full-length studio album by German Rock band.
Cologne dialect for "thawed", "Affjetaut" was released in 1980 and reached number eleven on the German album charts.
All the songs on the album were written by singer Wolfgang Niedecken and guitarist and songwriter Klaus "Major" Heuser, who joined BAP in 1980 and took over the band's musical direction. His Rock-oriented influence is clearly evident here for the first time. Shortly before production began in October 1980, there had been many personnel changes in the band, which also influenced the album's style. Guest musicians included were Matthias Keul on keyboards and harmonica on "Vun mir uss Kitsch" and Büdi Siebert played saxophone. While the first album was produced in Cologne, "Affjetaut" was recorded at Sunrise Studios in Kirchberg, St. Gallen, Switzerland.
The release includes a huge A1 poster with photos and lyrics in Cologne dialect and standard German.

The eighth full-length studio album by legendary American Soft Metal band.
It is the first Y&T studio album to feature a different line-up since their debut album, with Jimmy DeGrasso replacing Leonard Haze on drums after he left the band in 1986.
The band used outside co-writers on many songs for the album. Taylor Rhodes has written hits for Aerosmith and Celine Dion and produced and wrote on an album by Glam Metal band Kix, the song "Temptation" is credited to Kennemore along with Megadeth and Savatage guitarist Al Pitrelli and Danger Danger bass player Bruno Ravel, while Robert White Johnson who cowrote "Eyes of A Stranger" with Rhodes also wrote songs for Celine Dion and Doro among many others.
30 000 albums were pressed with the track titled "Boys Night Out" instead of "L.A. Rocks." This was due to the song title chosen for that song that came from Jesse Harms (Sammy Hagar's keyboardist at the time), who was working with Dave Meneketti at the time, but when Geffen released a Sammy Hagar album using the actual song written by Harms, "Boys Night Out" Y&T was forced to change the title on the insistence of David Geffen.
The album peaked at #78 on the Billboard 200.

The album marks the band's change to a lighter sound to find success in the Hair Metal scene. It contains the band's biggest hit, "Summertime Girls", which charted at #55 on the Billboard Hot 100. This song had initially appeared as the only studio track on the band's live album, "Open Fire", released earlier in the year. The album itself peaked at #91 on the Billboard 200 on December 14, 1985. It was the last album with the original line-up of Meniketti, Alves, Kennemore and Haze, as Haze left the following year.

The album also introducing a new studio song, "Summertime Girls". The live material on the album was recorded at various venues in Greater London in early 1985, and during April 5–6, 1985, at the Keystone club in Palo Alto, California. The Keystone songs, "Go For the Throat" and "Open Fire", were recorded by Guy Charbonneau in Le Mobile, a mobile recording studio. All the live tracks were remixed at A&M Studios. The song "Summertime Girls" is a studio recording, produced and engineered separately by Kevin Beamish at Sound City Studios in Van Nuys.
"Open Fire" spent 17 weeks on the Billboard 200, peaking at Number 70. "Summertime Girls" Single became the band's biggest hit, peaking at Number 16 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Chart. The song also appeared on the band's next proper studio album, "Down For The Count", which was released in November 1985. Despite this, "Open Fire" would go on to become a one of the hardest to find albums by the band.

The third full-length album by legendary British Progressive/Psychedelic Rock band.
The band's first album to feature guitarist Steve Howe, who replaced Peter Banks in 1970, as well as their last to feature keyboardist Tony Kaye until 1983's "90125".
The album was the first by the band not to feature any cover versions of songs.
While the album retained close harmony singing, Kaye's Hammond organ, and Chris Squire's melodic bass, as heard on earlier releases, the new material also covered further styles including Jazz piano, Funk, and acoustic music. All of the band members contributed ideas, and tracks were extended in length to allow music to develop. Howe contributed a variety of guitar styles, including a Portuguese guitar, and recorded the solo acoustic guitar piece "Clap", live at the Lyceum Theatre, London.
The album was a critical success and a major commercial breakthrough for Yes, who had been at risk of being dropped by Atlantic Records due to the commercial failures of their first two albums. It reached number 4 in the United Kingdom and number 40 in the United States, and was later certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America for surpassing one million copies. The album is one of three by Yes to appear in the book "1,000 Recordings to Hear Before You Die". The album is also featured in the book "1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die".

Debut full-length solo album (eventually the third in career) by legendary Swedish Neoclassical/Shred/Hard Rock/Power Metal guitarist-virtuoso.
Yngwie J. Malmsteen, a virtuoso guitarist who burst onto the music scene in the early 1980s with the rather stereotypical 80s Metal band Alcatrazz, became renowned for his speedy play and mesmerizing solos. After Yngwie departed from Alcatrazz, he launched a highly successful solo-career. Yngwie's debut album "Rising Force" put Malmsteen on the map as a solo artist when the album drew critical acclaim for it's virtuoso-like guitar work. Yngwie followed "Rising Force" with his second album, "Marching Out". Yngwie's sophomore release didn't draw as much praise as his debut did, but it nevertheless was another work of sheer guitar brilliance and helped elevate Yngwie to the ranks of a guitar-god.
Malmsteen was hyped, if not over-hyped, when he came into the music scene early in his career. Many called him the "Next Hendrix" and critics began to deem Yngwie as the next great guitarist, and possibly the best to ever live. While Yngwie's rankings as a guitarist are up for debate, in order to live up to his praises, Yngwie released "Trilogy" - his second-best album after "Rising Force".
"Trilogy" shows a more mature side of Yngwie, both in his guitar and in his lyrics, and finds him delving wholeheartedly into fantastic, medieval themes and lyrical imagery. Yngwie's compositional skills are at their peak, and of all his albums, the lyrics here contribute the most to the overall feel of the music. The guitar solos, as always, are jaw-droppingly fast and technically demanding, but Malmsteen is still capable of playing them with force and fire behind them.
In the liner notes, Malmsteen dedicates the album to the memory of the late Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme, who was assassinated on 28 February 1986.
"Trilogy" is an album that shows Malmsteen's amazing guitar work as well as his descent lyrical potential. The album reached #44 on that year's Billboard 200 chart and remained charted for thirteen weeks.

So, "Afterburner", their most synthetic album, will not please most ZZ Top fans, even if it did go Platinum several times over and reached number four. That's all just a sign of the times, when even Hard Rock bands had to sound as slick as Synth Pop, complete with clanging DX-7s and cavernous drums.
As an artifact of that time, "Afterburner" is pretty good. All this means that "Afterburner" is merely a product of its time - the only record ZZ Top could have made at the time.
Although critics' response to the album was lukewarm, "Afterburner" was a commercial success, eventually going Platinum five times and launching one hit Single, "Sleeping Bag", which peaked at No. 1 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks and at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100, equalling the peak of their previous Single, "Legs". The album yielded three other Top 40 Singles in the United States: "Stages" (no. 21), "Rough Boy" (no. 22), and "Velcro Fly" (no. 35).

Returning from a two-year hiatus, the band began to showcase the influence they have collected during the time away; Gibbons' time in Europe introduced him to Punk music, the influences of which seeped into the creation of the album. The band also consciously tried experimenting with technology: Gibbons saw an episode of The Phil Donahue Show where a person's identity was protected using silhouette and a pitch shifter; liking the sound, he asked engineer Manning to call the show and find out what the effects unit was. Manning eventually convinced a reluctant show producer to reveal it, and the effect was used for both vocals and guitars on songs like "Manic Mechanic".
The album also marked the first time that ZZ Top featured cover versions on a studio album: "I Thank You" by Isaac Hayes/David Porter and "Dust My Broom", credited on early editions to Elmore James but subsequently credited to Robert Johnson, who recorded it in 1936. Elmore James had adapted and popularized the song in 1951.

A Diamond certified album, "Eliminator" is ZZ Top's most commercially successful release, with sales of over 10 million copies in the United States alone.
ZZ Top had reached the top of the charts before, but that didn't make their sudden popularity in 1983 any more predictable. It wasn't that they were just popular - they were hip, for God's sake, since they were one of the only AOR favorites to figure out to harness the stylish, synthesized grooves of New Wave, and then figure out how to sell it on MTV. Of course, it helped that they had songs that deserved to be hits. With "Gimme All Your Lovin'", "Sharp Dressed Man" and "Legs", they had their greatest set of singles since the heady days of "Tres Hombres". The songs alone would have made "Eliminator" one of ZZ Top's three greatest albums, but their embrace of synths and sequencers made it a blockbuster hit, since it was the sound of the times.
It's still an excellent ZZ Top album, one of their best, yet it sounds like a mechanized ZZ Top thanks to the unflaggingly accurate grooves. Then again, that's part of the album's charm - this is New Wave Blues Rock, glossed up for the video, looking as good as the omnipresent convertible on the cover and sounding irresistible. Not the sort the old-school fans or Blues Rock purists will love, but ZZ Top never sounded as much like a band of its time as they did here!
Three of "Eliminator"'s five Singles appeared in the top 10 on the Billboard Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. "Gimme All Your Lovin'", released in April 1983, went to the number two position.
Often considered ZZ Top's most popular release, the record was ranked at number 398 in Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, and was listed at number 39 in The 100 Greatest Albums of the 80s. The second official re-release on vinyl of the debut full-length studio album by legendary Soviet New Wave/Post-Punk Rock band.
The album was recorded together with musicians from the Aquarium band, and released on reels in 1982. At that time, Kino consisted of only two members: Viktor Tsoi and Alexey Rybin; the musicians were not yet widely known and the opportunity to record the material accumulated over three years was obtained thanks to the assistance of Boris Grebenshchikov. The album was mixed underground - in the House of Pioneers, where Andrey Tropillo set up a semi-legal recording studio "AnTrop".
"Forty Five" was one of the first Rock albums in the Soviet Union to use a drum machine instead of a real drum-kit. In addition to acoustic, electric and bass guitars, flute, cello, and bells were actively used to create the required sound.
It's the only studio work in the band's discography in which Alexey Rybin took part, since due to ideological differences with Viktor Tsoi, he soon left Kino, and the two musicians never met again on purpose - they only crossed paths a couple of times at mixed concerts ("solyankas"), but never spoke to each other.
Unlike the other albums of the band, "Forty Five" was not released on vinyl until 2012. During the recording, a significant technical error was made, which did not allow the material to be reissued in the gramophone record format in the future, and until 1994 it existed only on the reel. In the mid-1990s, the Moroz Records produced several reissues in digital form on CD. In 2012, the album was first released on vinyl by Moroz Records, with digital remastering in a limited edition of 1,000 copies.
Many of the songs on the album gained great popularity, were included in numerous compilations, and became part of the band's concert repertoire until its breakup in 1990.
There are two fundamental differences between this release and previous versions of the album: the album is released for the first time at the correct speed (on all previous editions it was considerably overstated), and also for the first time an original collage was used for the design. 22 years after the tragic death of Victor Tsoi, this edition is the first in a series of reissues of the band. Side A of the Single contains 2012 version of the song, with special vinyl mastering. Side B contains the original acoustic version of the song, recorded by Viktor Tsoi in 1990 and carefully restored from the original audio cassette for the first time.
Release prepared with the direct participation of the son of the Victor Tsoi, Alexander Tsoi, as well as an all-time guitarist of the band, Yuri Kasparyan.
