The second full-length studio album by legendary British Synth-Pop/New Wave singer.
The first single from this album, "Cambodia", was released in November 1981 and signalled a different sound from the Wilde camp, with an Electronic and Synth sound, different from the Rock sound of her first album. The songs were again written by Marty and Ricky Wilde, and produced by Ricky Wilde. The lyrics of the songs were similar to the first album: the second single, "View from a Bridge", and the album track "Wendy Sadd" seemed to be about suicide, "Chaos at the Airport" described a nightmare about flying and "Ego" was quite the opposite of a love song. "Can You Come Over" was recorded at the Wilde's home.
The album topped the charts in a host of European countries and reached number 8 in Australia, although it did not surpass the success of debut album.

80's Black/Dark Metal classic featuring Andy LaRoque on guitar, Mickey Dee (Motörhead) on drums, and the King Diamond himself. Originally released in 1987, “Abigail” established King Diamond as its own entity apart from the Mercyful Fate sound and style. Widely recognized masterpiece, "Abigail" is also unquestionably one of Heavy Metal's greatest concept albums. This is the first concept solo-album by King Diamond.
A passion for dark-themed theatrics had always qualified the work of the man formerly known as Kim Bendix Petersen before this release, and yet his band's debut from two years prior had merely hinted at the conceptual ambitions yet to come. So turn out the houselights, draw the curtains, and listen closely as King Diamond's synthetically altered voice introduces us to the witch Abigail La'Fey (in an obvious tribute to Anton LaVey, founder of the Church of Satan) through her "Funeral". Moments later, proper musical opener "Arrival" introduces the familiar Post-Metal, semi-Thrashing style over which Diamond will narrate his spine-tingling tale of horror, a tale which, in the process, conjures such career-topping compositions as the stunning "A Mansion in Darkness", the surprisingly clever "The Family Ghost", and the quite beautiful acoustics, orchestrations, and sound effects introducing "The 7th Day of July 1777". Ensuing highlights such as "The Possession", the title track, and the epic finale of "Black Horsemen" maintain the pattern of carefully structured lyrics, as they spell out in frightening detail Abigail's terrifying act of possession and demonic rebirth through the hapless leading couple's newborn child. By the time it's all screamed and done, it's safe to say Rosemary's Baby was no more gruesome!
Also of note, musically speaking, ace future Motörhead drummer Mikkey Dee matches incredible versatility and envious power for a command performance here, and one can noticeably hear guitarist Andy LaRocque nudging Diamond's erstwhile Mercyful Fate cohort Michael Denner out of the dual lead guitar equation with his inspired leads (he would soon assume an unchallenged position at the feet of the King's throne). As for the master of dark ceremonies himself, King Diamond, too, takes a quantum leap by subjecting his trademark falsettos to layer upon layer of multi-tracked harmonies, transforming what was previously an acquired taste for some into an overpowering and irresistible self-contained chorus sent straight from the pits of hell. Thanks to all of this, the combined quality of the words and music to be found on "Abigail" make it an exercise in Goth Metal storytelling that remains quite simply nonpareil - among the living, at least.
“Abigail” has a legendary reputation. Visionary, revolutionary, beyond its time, the song is a field of magic powers from every member of the band. Everything is perfected, crafted with the most subtle work. With some god-like drumming and guitar playing with the addition of The King's amazing voice this is a must have for any Metal fan and any fan of complex and theatrical music! King Diamond amazed us with many new and great releases after this album, but no one reached the amount of talent and perfection that can be found in "Abigail"!!

In this sequel to "Them", an adult King returns to the House of Amon to reclaim his rightful place as heir to the house. However, unanswered questions about his sister's death, his mother's involvement with his diabolical therapist, and his own madness all prove to be difficult if not insurmountable obstacles. He makes a deal with "Them" (the unseen antagonists from the album of the same name, part one of the story) to return control of the house to Them in exchange for the chance to see his now-dead sister Missy again. He believes she can help answer some of his questions. An agreement is reached, and Missy returns from the grave nightly to help King uncover some mysteries from "Them". As a spirit, however, she cannot save him from the plot against him, try as she may to warn him. His mother and his doctor have conspired to get rid of him permanently in order to inherit the house themselves. While they think they are ultimately successful, the album closes with King's promise to torture and haunt them forever from beyond the grave.
"Conspiracy" is built on the backs of a staggering array of Metallic riffing that could rival anyone else coming out of such a creative European field in 1989. One might struggle to define this album as either Speed/Thrash or Heavy/Power Metal, for surely it contains enough elements of both to qualify it as a hybrid of these and even a touch of Progressive/Speed. You'll hear steadied, rampant triplet rhythms, delirious outbreaks into speed and flair akin to what Randy Rhodes and later Zakk Wylde brought to the Ozzy Osbourne solo camp, flashy and effective lead sequences. King Diamond had been implementing the Blues-based grooves as far back as Mercyful Fate, and certainly we heard a few through "Abigail" and "Them". But with "Conspiracy", they become these emotionally resonant, triumphant bulwarks that instantly exude testosterone.
Once again, King Diamond has created an album that defines Heavy Metal, once again raising the bar for the rest of the genre. This album goes in a more traditional direction with just crushing riff work. As for King's vocals, he never sounded better.
Being more prolific than many bands and creating perfect albums, King Diamond prove that they are real kings of the Metal of 80s!!

This time, he inserts himself among the story's characters, which also includes his mother, little sister, a haunted house, and, more unexpectedly, a batty old grandmother whose return from a long stay at the insane asylum (famously announced by "Welcome Home" 's borderline hilarious opening shrieks of "Grandmaaaa!!!") precipitates the supernatural acts of possession, murder, and madness that move this tale forward.
It is the first of two fictional concept albums, the second of these being "Conspiracy".
Also worth noting are the new musical players who had joined the King Diamond band on this outing. After all, the replacement of guitarist Michael Denner and bassist Timi Hansen by Pete Blakk and Hal Patino, respectively, signaled the King's final break with his former band, Mercyful Fate. Tellingly, other than upping the overall camp factor just so, this development had no discernible effect on "Them" 's musical vision as compared to "Abigail", thereby confirming said vision as stemming from King Diamond himself.
Co-songwriter Andy LaRocque once again delivers distinctive, semi-Thrash riffs, majestic harmonies, and searing, inventive solo passages to standout moments like "The Invisible Guests", "Tea", and "Twilight Symphony", but it's small nuances such as the acoustic break in "A Broken Spell" and the oppressive synthesized clavichords heard on "The Accusation Chair" that lend "Them" 's story its satisfyingly complex personality. What's more, overly theatrical numbers like "Mother's Getting Weaker" and "Bye, Bye Missy" take a little more license with their arrangements when incorporating the key words, plot themes, and even distinct character voices necessary to advancing the story line, but usually do so with very little detriment to the musical flow, which is occasionally embellished further by short interludes such as the title cut's symphonic instrumental interlude, and the opening and closing vignettes, "Out from the Asylum" and "Coming Home". As for King Diamond, he takes full advantage of the story's various points of view to try on any number of vocal guises, but overall, he's employing spiraling vocal chorales built upon layers of his instantly recognizable shrill falsettos far more frequently than his lower-register growling style. Ultimately, pundits generally found "Them" just slightly lacking in the face of "Abigail" 's rarely challenged excellence, but consumers ultimately disagreed, buying more copies of "Them" that any other King Diamond album before or after. "Them" has sold over 200,000 copies in North America alone.

The third and the final full-length studio album by British Experimental Progressive Rock band, known as Arthur Brown's Kingdom Come outside the UK.
The first album in history to use a drum machine, responsible for all the percussive sounds on the album.
After they featured drastically different styles on their first two albums, and after several line-up changes, band leader Arthur Brown worked the band towards a new direction for "Journey". The drum machine in question was the Bentley Rhythm Ace, manufactured by Ace Tone. Although the band had commented the album was entirely based on the drum machine, the band attempted to, in Rock and Electronic terms, create an album that was the closest they could get "to a string quartet". The album features other experimental techniques, including using a triangle to guide guitar playing and extensive use of Mellotron and synthesizers from new member Victor Peraino, who replaced Michael "Goodge" Harris early on production.
The album was recorded in November 1972 in Rockfield Studios and released in 1973 by Polydor Records. It was not a popular release, although it has gone on to be regarded as a groundbreaking and innovative album that was ahead of its time. Although overlooked upon release, it has received generally positive retrospective reviews from critics.
"Journey" was so far ahead of its time that you must keep checking the sleeve to make sure that it really does say 1973 and not 1983! This album was not only Arthur Brown’s masterpiece, but also one of the truly great albums of the seventies!!

First re-release on picture disc of the debut full-length solo album by the former lead guitarist and vocalist of legendary American Hard Rock/Glam Rock band Kiss.
It was one of four solo albums released by the members of Kiss on September 18, 1978. The album featured Anton Fig on drums, which later performed session work on the Kiss albums "Dynasty" and "Unmasked", as well as become a member of Ace Frehley’s band Frehley’s Comet. Fig along with Will Lee, who played bass on three tracks on the album, became permanent members of Paul Shaffer’s band on "Late Night" with David Letterman and "Late Show" with David Letterman.
Of the four Kiss solo albums released simultaneously in 1978, the best of the bunch is guitarist Ace Frehley's. Similar in approach to Paul Stanley's album, Frehley did not stray far from the expected heavy Kiss sound (like Gene Simmons and Peter Criss did with their releases), but Ace was equipped with better compositions than Stanley.
Frehley proved once and for all that he was not simply a backup musician to Kiss head honchos Simmons and Stanley. All of the tracks are strong, such as the venomous opener, "Rip It Out", as well as a few tracks that confirm how Frehley was indulging in alcohol and drugs a bit too much by the late '70s ("Snow Blind", "Ozone", and "Wiped Out"). You'll also find many underrated compositions ("Speedin' Back to My Baby", "What's on Your Mind?", "I'm in Need of Love"), a gorgeous instrumental ("Fractured Mirror"), and the Top 20 hit single "New York Groove". Unfortunately, when Ace left Kiss in 1982 (eventually forming Frehley's Comet), he never came close to topping this solid and inspired 1978 solo outing.

The band had released three albums ("Destroyer", "Rock And Roll Over", and "Love Gun") since the previous live outing, the 1975 release "Alive!", so they drew upon the variety of new tracks, with Eddie Kramer producing.
The album is one of the best-selling in the Kiss discography, being the band's first to be certified double Platinum in February 1996 (signifying sales of over 1 000 000 for a double album), the same month the Kiss reunion tour was announced.

Although a commercial success of "Animalize" was not nearly as strong as its two predecessors ("Creatures Of The Night" and "Lick It Up"), the album was a big hit (eventually going double Platinum). Instead of leading the Heavy Metal pack with raw Hard Rock (i.e., their classic albums from the '70s), in the mid- to late '80s, Kiss seemed to be copying other successful Pop-Metal bands (Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Mötley Crüe, etc.), both musically and visually.
At the time of the record's release, Gene Simmons was pursuing a career in acting. Paul Stanley was thus primarily in charge of the album's production and direction. The album marked the only appearance by lead guitarist Mark St. John, who replaced Vinnie Vincent in April 1984.
Mark St. John replaced the departed Vinnie Vincent on guitar (guitarist number three in a span of three years) and proved to be a highly technical player, the complete opposite of original member Ace Frehley's straight-ahead style. But troubles began early.  Mark St. John couldn’t play.  He was diagnosed with an arthritic condition called Reiter’s Syndrome.  His hands swelled up and he simply could not do the gig.  Mark passed away in 2007, but suggested that the arthritis may have been triggered by stress. Bruce Kulick stepped in to take his place, and did so with professionalism and respect.
The overall product of this album is unique in several ways. There are a bunch of historical events blended into this release, with guest players and the noticeable absence of Simmons' contribution, along with the tracks where the listener can distinguish St. John's playing on the songs which he contributed. The album sold well overall, and taking nothing away from the talents of St. John, but except for Eric Carr’s drumming (powerful, solid, and heavy when need to be, while backing off as well at times), this could’ve been a Paul Stanley solo release. Having a part of the band’s career, which was a bridge from taking off the makeup to the more steady line-up of the non-makeup years, is one of the few reasons to have this in your Kiss collection.

Although a commercial success of "Animalize" was not nearly as strong as its two predecessors ("Creatures Of The Night" and "Lick It Up"), the album was a big hit (eventually going double Platinum). Instead of leading the Heavy Metal pack with raw Hard Rock (i.e., their classic albums from the '70s), in the mid- to late '80s, Kiss seemed to be copying other successful Pop-Metal bands (Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Mötley Crüe, etc.), both musically and visually.
At the time of the record's release, Gene Simmons was pursuing a career in acting. Paul Stanley was thus primarily in charge of the album's production and direction. The album marked the only appearance by lead guitarist Mark St. John, who replaced Vinnie Vincent in April 1984.

The thirteenth full-length studio album by legendary American Glam/Hard Rock band.
The first album to feature lead guitarist Bruce Kulick as an official band member. Kulick had replaced former guitarist Mark St. John on two tracks on the previous album, "Animalize" (1984), during the latter's absence due to reactive arthritis. Subsequently, Kulick filled St. John's spot on most segments of the Animalize Tour. This new line-up of Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Eric Carr, and Kulick would last until Carr's death in November 1991, while Kulick would stay with the band until the reunion of the original line-up in 1996.
The album marked a continuation of the Glam Metal sound of the preceding album, "Animalize". "Tears Are Falling" was the only track to be released for retail sales as a Single and was a hit for the band, with the video, in particular, proving popular on MTV. A total of three music videos for the album were filmed on set in London, England, for the songs "Who Wants to Be Lonely", "Uh! All Night" and "Tears Are Falling".
The album cover depicts the four band members with coloured lips, mirroring the colours of the 1978 solo releases: red for Simmons, purple for Stanley, blue for Kulick (replacing Ace Frehley) and green for Carr (replacing Peter Criss). The placement of the band’s faces also mirrors 1979’s Dynasty cover: (clockwise from top left) Stanley, Simmons, Carr (replacing Criss), & Kulick (replacing Frehley).
The album was certified Gold in November 1985 by the RIAA.

The second album to feature the line-up of Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Bruce Kulick, and Eric Carr. The album is notable for its Pop-Metal sound as well as for its use of keyboards and synthesizers, a reflection of popular trends in the commercial Rock genre of this time.
The album was very well received by executives at Polygram Records. It was widely reported that during a meeting in which the album was played for them in full, the entire conference room reportedly stood and applauded for a full five minutes afterward. The excitement was enough for the corporate team to promote the album well past platinum status, cementing its reputation as one of the benchmarks of 1980s corporate Rock.
"Crazy Nights" peaked at No. 18 on the US Billboard 200 chart, making it the highest-charting Kiss album of the 1980s in the US. It was certified Platinum on November 18, 1987, in Canada and a few months later in the US, on February 18, 1988. All three Singles of the album had corresponding videos that received heavy rotation on MTV, and were also featured on the "Crazy Nights" home video. The most successful single was "Crazy Crazy Nights", charting in five countries, and the least successful was "Turn On the Night", charting only in the UK.

It was one of four solo albums released by the members of Kiss on September 18, 1978.
Although he is the bass player in Kiss, Simmons played mainly electric and acoustic guitars on the album, leaving the bass duties to Neil Jason. The album features guest appearances from well-known musicians, including Aerosmith's Joe Perry, Bob Seger, Cheap Trick's Rick Nielsen, Donna Summer and Cher. Though unknown at the time, backing vocalist Katey Sagal would go on to a successful television career.
Most Kiss fans associate Gene Simmons with the band's hardest-rocking compositions; after all, he's responsible for such heavies as "Watchin' You", "Calling Dr. Love", "Larger Than Life" and "Goin' Blind". So many Kiss fans must have been surprised when they heard this Gene's diverse solo album, with songs that contained choirs and string arrangements, plus elements of Beatles pop, '70s Funk/Disco and feel-good Rock & Roll. Granted, there are a few heavy rockers (such as the single "Radioactive", "Burning Up With Fever" and "See You in Your Dreams"), but Simmons was always a closet Beatles fan, as evidenced by "See You Tonite", "Always Near You", "Man of 1,000 Faces" and "Mr. Make Believe".
Simmons re-recorded "See You in Your Dreams" because he reportedly was not happy with the way it was recorded on "Rock and Roll Over". The only real misstep is a preposterously embarrassing cover of the Disney classic "When You Wish Upon a Star" (complete with Disney-esque sound effects/music). Simmons said that he covered "When You Wish Upon a Star" because he related to the song and was a fan of Disney movies. But Simmons made sure that the top artists of the day lent a hand (Aerosmith's Joe Perry, Cheap Trick's Rick Nielsen, Donna Summer, Cher, Bob Seger, Jeff "Skunk" Baxter, Helen Reddy, and Janis Ian), which makes Gene's solo album an unpredictable yet ultimately enjoyable release.
The album reached #22 on the US Billboard album chart, making it the highest-placing of all the four Kiss solos of 1978. It was certified Platinum on October 2, 1978, having shipped 1000000 copies.
