The third re-release of the second full-length studio album by legendary American Heavy/Glam Metal band.
On W.A.S.P.'s sophomore effort the band hired Quiet Riot producer Spencer Proffer to man the boards, resulting in a slightly more accessible sound than their rugged self-titled debut. Although the album wasn't the massive commercial breakthrough the band had hoped for, it resulted in their second Gold-certified release in a row as they became one of the more popular Metal bands of the mid-'80s (touring heavily with the likes of Kiss, Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden). Blackie Lawless' lyrics still relied heavily on sexual fantasies ("Sex Drive"), as well as tales of revenge ("Ballcrusher", "Jack Action"), and children of the street ("Running Wild in the Streets").
The album's two singles/videos proved popular on MTV's Heavy Metal-oriented shows - the party-hearty "Blind in Texas" and "Wild Child", the latter a tale of a Harley-riding free spirit.
The album made No. 47 on Billboard's top 200 album chart in early 1986. It also sold over 1000000 copies.
This re-edition have nearly doubled the original album's length, featuring a cover of Mountain's early-'70s hit "Mississippi Queen", the original B-side "Savage" and five live tracks recorded at England's Lyceum in October of 1984!

W.A.S.P. came out of the Los Angeles Metal scene in 1982, gaining notoriety for their Shock Rock antics. With a career spanning over 3 decades, 17 world tours, and tons of records, they are a Metal band that has evolved in maturity without having lost their signature sound, unlike many of their peers.
Look no further than 2009's "Babylon", a modern day 9-track beast inspired by biblical visions of "The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse". The concept album, filled to the brim with bloodthirsty Christian imagery, proudly displays all the strengths and trademarks that the Metal legends have accumulated over decades in the game. Doug Blair's classic riffing is hauntingly effective, whereas iconic frontman Blackie Lawless still possesses one of the unique and emotional set of vocal cords on the Metal/Hard Rock scene!
The album contains covers of Deep Purple's "Burn" (originally recorded for W.A.S.P's previous album, "Dominator", but not used for unknown reasons) and Chuck Berry's "Promised Land". "Promised Land" was also covered in 1973 by Elvis Presley, and it was Elvis' version that the band had in mind, as demonstrated by the ending comment "How about one of them peanut butter & banana sandwiches".

Blackie Lawless has given up experimenting approximately ten year ago, which is a pity because some of the most memorable moments in W.A.S.P.’s quarter of a century long carrier were created when he dared to try something new. Daring to experiment resulted in such brilliant moments like "The Headless Children", "The Crimson Idol" and even "K.F.D.". "Dominator" is another in line of the “safe” records from the band that became famous for making the world less safe place to be. However, with its mixture of band’s most successful albums created between ’86 and ’92, the band still manages to create music worth listening.
After producing all the band's records there is simply no better producer for the band then Mr. Lawless himself and Doug Blair delivers those oh-so-well-known razor sharp guitar leads that made Chris Holmes so famous in his glory days in W.A.S.P.
"Dominator" is based on the current American foreign policies. The lyrics are as angry and intelligent as ever, and those typical W.A.S.P. melodies still have the power to move something inside the listener.
Blackie is one of those few singers that at all times delivers an amazing performance that is filled with both anger and pain at the same time. Now more than ever before. Songs like “Take Me Up” and “Heaven’s Hung in Black” will give you goose bumps even after hearing them more than 20 times. As soon as you hear a W.A.S.P. tune, you know that is W.A.S.P. It has always a good production, not revolutionary. It has cool, catchy riffs and good songs.
Covers of "Burn" by Deep Purple and "Fortunate Son" by Creedence Clearwater Revival were included on the originally announced track listing, but were dropped from the album's final cut.
"Dominator" is excellent, vital music with a set of Blackie’s most intelligent and affecting lyrics, a winner through and through, and it is definitely one of the top albums of the year!

"The Headless Children" showcases a new level of maturity from the band compared to their previous three albums, which had stereotypically lewd "Rock and Roll" lyrics. Politics and social issues are now a theme throughout the album. With the band concentrating more on the music than the gimmicks (they were pictured sans ghoulish makeup and costumes), "The Headless Children" remains W.A.S.P.'s most accomplished work. The album's best-known tracks remain their cover of the Who's "Quadrophenia" anthem "The Real Me" and the rocking "Mean Man" (an autobiographical tale about guitarist Holmes), while a pair of epics ("The Heretic" and the title track) and perhaps W.A.S.P.'s best ballad, "Forever Free," were also standouts. While long-time fans may prefer the gross-out Heavy Metal of their early albums ("W.A.S.P." and "The Last Command"), "The Headless Children" is their most well-constructed album.
The album reached No. 48 on the US Billboard 200 chart, the band's highest chart position, and remained on that chart for 13 weeks.

The band's first album to feature singer and bandleader Blackie Lawless playing guitar, having switched from bass to rhythm guitar. While Lawless was the band's main leader and songwriter from the beginning, he had even more of a say in the musical direction by switching to rhythm guitar from bass when original guitarist Randy Piper exited the band (ex-King Kobra member Johnny Rod joined on bass).
Blackie Lawless launched W.A.S.P. on the unsuspecting world in 1983 and before long tales of their outrageous music and intense stage shows were legendary. By the time, W.A.S.P. released their third studio album, "Inside The Electric Circus", in 1986, their none-more-decadent drive towards world domination was surging forward at full power. Travelling the world and behaving in the most debauched Rock'n'Roll manner imaginable and as a result, their lives had turned into an insane and unreal travelling circus, and thus the title for the band's third full-length was born.
The album contains the vicious, raging power they had become known for, with tracks "9.5 - N.A.S.T.Y." and "Shoot From the Hip", and also a display of their matured and thoughtful side. Covers of Humble Pie's "I Don't Need No Doctor" and Uriah Heep's "Easy Livin'" proved there was more to W.A.S.P.'s classic LA Metal sound, and the monumental "Restless Gypsy" and anthemic "The Rock Rolls On" added accessibility to their sound without sacrificing one iota of attitude or aggression.

With Glam Rock making a comeback of sorts in 1984 (Mötley Crüe, Ratt, etc.), another Los Angeles band, W.A.S.P., couldn't have picked a better time to release its self-titled debut.
By merging lyrics that dealt with the expected Heavy Metal themes (sex, Satanism, etc.), alongside Blackie Lawless' rough vocals and Chris Holmes' guitar riffing, the band sounded and looked more menacing than your average L.A. Glam band at the time. Add to it a stage show that was gimmick-heavy (Lawless would drink blood from a skull and rip open a pillow, while wearing buttless leather pants and saw blades on his arms), and you had a "can't miss" recipe for controversy and publicity - resulting in the debut's eventual Gold certification.
The album has been known under three different names; the spine of the original vinyl release had "Winged Assassins" printed on it, while early cassette releases of the album had the name of the album's first track, "I Wanna Be Somebody", printed in bold letters on the cover. The album is officially entitled simply "W.A.S.P.", which it is typically referred to as.
Upon its original release, controversial track "Animal (Fuck Like a Beast)" was deleted from the album. The Parents Music Resource Center had labelled the song as one of its "Filthy Fifteen" songs that determined to be morally objectionable. Capitol Records subsequently bowed to pressure and pulled the song. The band released the song on an independent label in the UK as a single in 1984, and it was reinstated on the album's 1998 reissue. The song "Tormentor" was heard in the films "The Dungeonmaster" (1984) and "TerrorVision" (1986).

W.A.S.P. has delivered in spades on their six-year studio hiatus with "Golgotha", to continue "Babylon"’s thought-provoking, bible-themed Horror storyline, but with passion, reverence, and an ends to come through their eyes.
While the days of the Shock Metal are long gone with this band, their sound overall hasn't changed much since the '80s. Blackie's commanding pipes are still in fine form. "Golgotha" is a pretty solid album. If it's the highly melodic Metal anthems from Blackie Lawless & Co. you crave, this album won't disappoint!

Blackie Lawless launched W.A.S.P. on the unsuspecting world in 1983 and before long tales of their outrageous music and intense stage shows were legendary. In the last few years of the old century, W.A.S.P. made some of their most striking and brave albums. The ferocious, blood-splattered "Kill Fuck Die" and the celebratory sleazefest of "Helldorado" had provided solid proof that Blackie Lawless’ songwriting skills were as keen and unique as ever and, unlike the majority of his 80s contemporaries, this most dogged and determined of frontmen was entering a new era full of confidence, with that blazing inferno in his eyes clearly a long way from fizzling out.
The early 1990s were rough for L.A. shock rockers W.A.S.P., led by Tipper Gore's arch-enemy Blackie Lawless. The band's trademark brand of '80s-style Heavy Metal was in decline, and their legendary blood-and-thunder stage theatrics were being eclipsed by younger, edgier artists like Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson.
Originally released in 1999, "Helldorado" represented an unabashed return to W.A.S.P.’s early 80s no-nonsense Rock’n’Roll approach. With few fancy frills and no needless distractions, Helldorado is rock’n’roll the way it was meant to be - hard as a biker's bicep and raw as a bloody steak! “This album is like “Mean Man”, “Blind in Texas” and “Animal” all rolled into one” - Blackie Lawless.
W.A.S.P. seems oblivious to nothing, except the kind of L.A. Metal they like, which they had been playing for nearly two decades when "Helldorado" was released. If anything, they've got a little heavier since their glory days of the mid- to late '80s, although no one would mistake them for a different band. It's the same bad-boy sex-drugs-rock & roll shtick that has been W.A.S.P.'s stock-in-trade for many years, but they're still doing it as well as ever. There's something to admire in the fact that they're still cranking it out, and the fact remains that very, very few bands in the late '90s offer new product to fans of this style!

Blackie Lawless launched W.A.S.P. on the unsuspecting world in 1983 and before long tales of their outrageous music and intense stage shows were legendary. Featuring W.A.S.P.'s best songs from their first five albums, "First Blood Last Cuts" also features a splattering of 90s remixes that give a different feel to these well-known songs.
The compilation is the result of Blackie Lawless and W.A.S.P. leaving Capitol Records and was released as a contractual obligation with Capitol/EMI. Released in October 1993, it was the first time the song "Animal (Fuck Like a Beast)", previously only released as a Single in 1984, was released on an album. The album also included two new songs, "Sunset and Babylon" and "Rock and Roll to Death". "Rock and Roll to Death" was later released on 1995's "Still Not Black Enough", with "Sunset and Babylon" remaining exclusive to this CD, while others songs were remixed for the album. The song "Wild Child" also recently featured in critically-acclaimed Hollywood feature film "Widows", directed by Steve McQueen.
It was all about shock for W.A.S.P., be it flaming codpieces, tying a semi-naked woman to a torture rack mid-set, tossing raw meat into the audience or Blackie Lawless’ own stupefying arrogance… One thing is for certain, in the annals of Metal there are very few bands like W.A.S.P.

The third re-release of the first live album by legendary American Heavy/Glam Metal band.
Music critics have always pointed out the similarities between theatrical Rockers KISS and W.A.S.P. – Blackie Lawless' and Gene Simmons' blood spewing, makeup and costumes, high-decibel rock, and so on (Ace Frehley even produced W.A.S.P.'s first demo!). KISS used the live album format for their big commercial breakthrough, 1975's classic "Alive!", and W.A.S.P. hoped the same would happen for them with 1987's "Live… In the Raw"… While it didn't work out that way, it served as a worthwhile document of the band's live show.
Culled from three incendiary 1987 performances in Long Beach, San Diego and San Bernardino, "Live… In The Raw" is an earth-quaking lesson in Heavy Rock. This album can be seen as something of a breakwater between the 'old' W.A.S.P. of the first three albums and the more mature sound of the releases that would follow. "The Manimal" and "Harder Faster" were written specifically for this album, and the studio song "Scream Until You Like It" was recorded for the movie "Ghoulies II". "Harder Faster" is about the PMRC declaring them "sexual perverts".
This would be the final release to feature drummer Steve Riley, who would leave the band shortly after the conclusion of the tour to join L.A. Guns.
This edition of "Live… In The Raw" includes the original album recordings and a four bonus tracks taken from the 1998 CD reissue, which includes an acoustic studio recording of "Sleeping (In The Fire)".
