The fourth full-length solo album by legendary German Hard Rock/Heavy Metal singer Doro Pesch.
The sound and musical style of "Angels Never Die" is very similar to what can be heard on the second Doro solo album, alternating heavy rock tracks with large choruses and power ballads, in the vein of the declining Glam Metal that had dominated the American Rock charts for the first part of the decade.
The album was not published in the USA and had limited success in Europe. However, the video for the song "Bad Blood" was voted best anti-racism video during the first MTV Europe Music Awards ceremony in 1994. "Angels Never Die" remained on the German Longplay chart for 13 weeks, peaking at position No. 21.

Doro’s second album is more a solo effort than a band production. In fact, the German singer chose for herself a new musical direction, consciously separating the music creative process from normal band dynamics, the contrary of what she had always done in the past with Warlock.
The album production was put in the hands of Kiss bassist Gene Simmons, Doro's childhood idol. Simmons provided five songs, including the covers of The Electric Prunes' 60s Psychedelic hit "I Had Too Much to Dream" and of Black 'n Blue's "Rock On", and musicians coming from the Kiss' entourage to complete the recording. The song "Only You" is a Kiss cover from the album "Music From The Elder" (1981). He gave his protégé, Tommy Thayer from the band Black 'n Blue (another band Simmons produced), a chance to shine as co-producer of the album, along with Pat Regan. "I'll Be Holding On" is a cover of a Gregg Allman song from the 1989 film "Black Rain".
The resulting sound is much smoother and polished than any Warlock album, in the vein of many American Glam Metal recordings of the time, and the lyrics give up completely the Gothic atmosphere present in the offerings of Doro Pesch’s previous band.
Despite the commercial appeal of the music and the high economic effort in producing it, the album did not have the critical and sales success that was expected and remained the last studio album by Doro published in the United States for ten years. If released a few years earlier this album would have really catapulted Doro to new heights. But timing, along with a less than aggressive sound didn’t do the album any favors. Regardless, the album is amazing and shows the Queen of Metal at her very best!

The debut full-length studio solo album by legendary German Hard Rock/Heavy Metal singer and her band.
In the 1980s, Warlock was among Germany's most exciting Heavy Metal bands, which is saying a lot when you consider that Germany also produced Accept and the Scorpions. After the success of Warlock’s album "Triumph And Agony", which gained Gold status in Germany and reached the top 100 chart in the USA, former Warlock vocalist Doro Pesch remained the only original member of the band. Some legal issues about the use of the name Warlock were raised by the former band manager, and Doro settled the dispute, renouncing to issue any new album with the band’s name, but using her name instead for any new releases. However, the first print of the LP was issued with a sticker on the cover near Doro’s name with "+ Warlock" written on and for some fans "Force Majeure" should still be considered as the last album by Warlock.
Just like "Triumph And Agony", the album was recorded in the USA and produced by Joey Balin. Bass player Tommy Henriksen, who was part of the last line-up of Warlock, plays in this album too. The line-up is completed by drummer Bobby Rondinelli (Rainbow, Scorpions, Quiet Riot, Black Sabbath, Blue Öyster Cult) and guitarist Jon Levin, whose name was incorrectly reported as Jon Devin on the album sleeve.
Trying to follow the positive American feedback of the previous Warlock album, the songs of "Force Majeure" are even more oriented to radio-friendly Glam Metal than to the European Power Metal of Doro’s earlier works and include for the first time a cover, Procol Harum’s famous "A Whiter Shade of Pale". It's also an album that Doro can be proud of; even though "Force Majeure" isn't quite in a class with Warlock's best releases, it is definitely a strong Pop-Metal/Hard Rock outing. Doro, who co-wrote most of the material with Joey Balin, is focused and assured throughout the album - she is as passionate on driving rockers like "Angels With Dirty Faces", "Under the Gun", and "Hellraiser" as she is on the haunting ballad "River of Tears". Equally strong is Doro's inspired cover "A Whiter Shade of Pale".
The album sold quite well in Europe but had a limited success in the USA, reaching only the top 200 chart.
While Doro is generally decent, "Force Majeure" is more than decent - it is excellent! In fact, "Force Majeure" is arguably her strongest and most essential solo album!!

The ninth full-length studio solo album by legendary German Heavy Metal singer Doro Pesch.
Since the release of 2002's "Fight", headbangers waited four long years for a follow-up from one of Metal's top female vocalists. But the wait was over by 2006. The recording of the album took a prolonged time, due to Doro Pesch filming the movie "Anuk - Der Weg des Kriegers", starring as 'Meha'. The film was shot in Switzerland in 2005.
"Warrior Soul" is a good classic Hard Rock/Heavy Metal album, that embodies the essence of what Warlock was about until it came to an end; good old fashioned Judas Priest inspired Heavy Metal without all the groove gimmicks. The songs are simple in their presentation, putting forth basic riffs meant to stick in the head, rather than impress with overbearing intrigue. Lead work is tasteful and often short, as has always been the case since the first Warlock album. The production is modernistic, complete with low reverb drums, but relies on keyboards for atmosphere to balance out the drier approach to the traditional instrumentation. The majority of the compositions are mid-tempo songs or ballads. For fans of melodic yet tough '80s-era Metal, "Warrior Soul" is loaded with Metallic goodies!
The album reached position No. 27 on the German Longplay chart.

Though capped at the end by the gorgeous power ballad "Catch My Heart," which ranks high amongst Doro's best in a solo capacity, “Hellbound” is all business. It throbs and rolls on a tandem with scattered prog breakdowns and miscellaneous soundbytes, ala "Earthshaker Rock" and various experimental intros on the album. “Hellbound” is hearty and focused, a polished piledriver of Teutonic mayhem kept on a steady equilibrium of shred, mid-tempo jogs and wailing guitar solos.

First re-release of the third full-length album by the legendary German Heavy Metal band.
With Doro at the helm, Warlock put forth an interesting variation on the Sleaze/Glam Metal sound with a fair share of Judas Priest and Accept influences to boot. They started more concentrated upon the riff oriented style the previous mentioned bands exhibited and didn’t spend too much time trying to write epic sounding ballads or lighter edged rock songs. On this release band began evolving their sound slightly away from that style and towards something a bit more mainstream. “True as Steel” is sort of a mixture of older guard aggressive Heavy Metal and the Glam style that was really growing in prominence at this point in the 80s. You can hear bits and pieces of Dokken, Quiet Riot, and even a little bit of early Riot (pre-Thundersteel). There is a larger emphasis on sing along choruses, much as is the case on the next release “Triumph and Agony”. It still, however, holds onto a good deal of the Speed Metal elements that were heard on “Burning the Witches” and the very heavy “Hellbound”. The resulting mix of styles is a very interesting listen.
This album has their first success outside of Europe, the single "Fight for Rock" charted on Billboard, and the music video for this song was aired on MTV's Headbangers Ball.

Originally released by Mausoleum Records, it was re-released by Vertigo Records, which went on to release all future Warlock albums.
Warlock was another of the many female-fronted bands that have recently burst onto the Heavy Metal scene. But after listening to "Burning The Witches", it’s obvious that these Germans are far superior to their American counterparts, such as Hellion and Bitch.
The band was fronted by the beautiful and now legendary Dorothee Pesch. Ms. Pesch’s vocals are equally as stunning as her looks, ranging from the Geddy Lee-like vocals (à la Acid’s Kate) on the album’s excellent opening cut "Sign Of Satan" to the more raunchy Jody Turner-style on "Homicide Rocker".
Musically, the band matches the excellence of their vocalist’s talents, producing a tight often melodic sound which reminds somewhat of that great debut album from Canada’s Reckless (1981).
This album is full of high quality numbers such as "After The Bomb", "Dark Fade", "Metal Racer" and the title track. But they are far more devastating with their more uptempo material like the superb "Hateful Guy".
Warlock's debut album is quite far from where the band reached with "Triumph And Steel", but still gives the listener a quite intense Hard'n'Heavy experience although the production on the album is rather thin as for the sound. Good riffs and some good melodies and harmonies in a good balance. In a way this is rather raw Heavy Metal, but it's the one of the classic albums in history of whole Metal!!

Second re-release of the fourth and the final full-length studio album by legendary German Heavy Metal band.
Formed in 1982, the band attained a reasonable degree of success with their four albums, with the first and last being particularly well-known to the Metal public. "Triumph And Agony" is the final opus, released in 1987 and including most of the band’s main hits, such as "All We Are", "I Rule The Ruins", "Metal Tango" or "Für Immer". The result is a consistent and wholly satisfying Euro-Metal album.
The two undeniably best tracks are the bookends. "Für Immer" is a hauntingly beautiful bilingual ballad, sung with earnest, truthful emotion by Doro. “All We Are” is an out-and-out Metal anthem, reminiscent of Manowar’s “Fighting The World”, and equally as catchy. Staidly completing the podium is “Three Minute Warning”, a short burst of quasi- Speed Metal with an infectious chorus and driving, headbanging rhythm. Among the remaining tracks, two others call our attention. "Metal Tango" and "East Meets West" would certainly have made the podium, if there were more than three places available in it. The first is exactly what the title implies: an oxymoronic track that mixes hard guitar riffs with a tango-ish rhythmic sway and cheesy “ole!” backing vocals. Its chorus of “dance, demons, lose control/this is the Metal, the Metal tango” may sound just a tad ridiculous – and it is – but overall the track manages to please through and through. As for "East Meets West", whose main track screams “80’s Metal!!”, it’s just a fun song, with a fist pumping chorus sure to ingrain itself in your mind. "A Touch of Evil" and "Cold, Cold World" aren’t worthy of licking the other tracks’ boots, although they are by no means bad songs. The first boasts an excellent vocal performance from Doro, while the latter is a pleasant but bland listen that can be construed as perhaps the weakest point of the album. As a whole, this is a completely satisfying album.
The album was recorded in the US with producer Joey Balin and a different band line-up in comparison with the previous album, “True As Steel”, which had made the name of Warlock known outside of Europe. Peter Szigeti and Frank Rittel were replaced in 1987 by the American musicians Tommy Bolan and Tommy Henriksen respectively. The album also features British drummer Cozy Powell on some tracks.
The song "All We Are" received some airplay on American Metal radio stations and its video clip shot by director Mark Rezyka had good rotation on MTV's “Headbangers Ball”. Many songs of this album are still performed live by Doro's band.
The album reached number 80 in American Billboard 200 and got Gold status in Germany.
A solid Heavy Metal record sure to please fans of the more traditional strands of the genre. If you are into 80’s Metal, of the traditional variety, you should by all means give it a listen, and then go on to discover the rest of Warlock’s and Miss Pesch’s discography!!

20 years of Doro - that needed to be celebrated! The Metal Queen invited the superstars of the genre to Düsseldorf, for her big stage anniversary. And everyone came and rocked the sold-out concert with Doro: Lemmy Kilmister and Mikkey Dee (Motörhead), Biff Byford and his band Saxon, Blaze Bailey (Iron Maiden), Udo Dirkschneider and many more...
The first DVD contains a movie, shot during the tour, supporting the release of the album "Warrior Soul" in 2006. It features also a selection of commented songs from the special concert, held at Phillips Halle in Düsseldorf, Germany on 13 December 2003, celebrating 20 years of career of the singer, with many guests, and footage of the party after the show. The movie segment is an actual German theatrical release. This film gives fans an inside look into the life and culture that is Doro and her band. DVD includes celebrity interviews from some of music’s most legendary performers, like Lemmy Kilmister (Motörhead), Tom Angelripper (Sodom), as well as many members of Doro’s original band Warlock.
The second DVD features the full 20th anniversary concert. Doro herself is absolutely beautiful on stage and her band is phenomenal. All the musicians put on a great stage show and really move to get the crowd motivated into a true Metal frenzy.
From a production standpoint, the audio quality is top-notch and the layout of the DVD set makes perfect sense. The disc does not include extras per se, but that is probably because the concert footage is so extensive; there really isn’t much to add. With hours and hours of coverage, "20 Years: A Warrior Soul" is enough to satisfy the appetite of the most Metal-hungry headbanger!

The second full-length studio solo album by legendary German Hard Rock/Heavy Metal singer Doro Pesch.
Doro’s second album is more a solo effort than a band production. In fact, the German singer chose for herself a new musical direction, consciously separating the music creative process from normal band dynamics, the contrary of what she had always done in the past with Warlock.
The album production was put in the hands of Kiss bassist Gene Simmons, Doro's childhood idol. Simmons provided five songs, including the covers of The Electric Prunes' 60s Psychedelic hit "I Had Too Much to Dream" and of Black 'n Blue's "Rock On", and musicians coming from the Kiss' entourage to complete the recording. The song "Only You" is a Kiss cover from the album "Music From The Elder" (1981). He gave his protégé, Tommy Thayer from the band Black 'n Blue (another band Simmons produced), a chance to shine as co-producer of the album, along with Pat Regan. "I'll Be Holding On" is a cover of a Gregg Allman song from the 1989 film "Black Rain".
The resulting sound is much smoother and polished than any Warlock album, in the vein of many American Glam Metal recordings of the time, and the lyrics give up completely the Gothic atmosphere present in the offerings of Doro Pesch’s previous band.
Despite the commercial appeal of the music and the high economic effort in producing it, the album did not have the critical and sales success that was expected and remained the last studio album by Doro published in the United States for ten years. If released a few years earlier this album would have really catapulted Doro to new heights. But timing, along with a less than aggressive sound didn’t do the album any favors. Regardless, the album is amazing and shows the Queen of Metal at her very best!

The third re-release of the debut full-length studio album by legendary German Heavy Metal band.
Originally released by Mausoleum Records, it was re-released by Vertigo Records, which went on to release all future Warlock albums.
Warlock was another of the many female-fronted bands that have recently burst onto the Heavy Metal scene. But after listening to "Burning The Witches", it’s obvious that these Germans are far superior to their American counterparts, such as Hellion and Bitch.
The band was fronted by the beautiful and now legendary Dorothee Pesch. Ms. Pesch’s vocals are equally as stunning as her looks, ranging from the Geddy Lee-like vocals (à la Acid’s Kate) on the album’s excellent opening cut "Sign Of Satan" to the more raunchy Jody Turner-style on "Homicide Rocker".
Musically, the band matches the excellence of their vocalist’s talents, producing a tight often melodic sound which reminds somewhat of that great debut album from Canada’s Reckless (1981).
This album is full of high quality numbers such as "After The Bomb", "Dark Fade", "Metal Racer" and the title track. But they are far more devastating with their more uptempo material like the superb "Hateful Guy".
Warlock's debut album is quite far from where the band reached with "Triumph And Steel", but still gives the listener a quite intense Hard'n'Heavy experience although the production on the album is rather thin as for the sound. Good riffs and some good melodies and harmonies in a good balance. In a way this is rather raw Heavy Metal, but it's the one of the classic albums in history of whole Metal!!

This is Warlock's heaviest and most relentless album they recorded. Though capped at the end by the gorgeous power ballad "Catch My Heart," which ranks high amongst Doro's best in a solo capacity, “Hellbound” is all business. It throbs and rolls on a tandem with scattered prog breakdowns and miscellaneous soundbytes, ala "Earthshaker Rock" and various experimental intros on the album. “Hellbound” is hearty and focused, a polished piledriver of Teutonic mayhem kept on a steady equilibrium of shred, mid-tempo jogs and wailing guitar solos.

With Doro at the helm, Warlock put forth an interesting variation on the Sleaze/Glam Metal sound with a fair share of Judas Priest and Accept influences to boot. They started more concentrated upon the riff-oriented style the previous mentioned bands exhibited and didn’t spend too much time trying to write epic sounding ballads or lighter edged rock songs. On this release band began evolving their sound slightly away from that style and towards something a bit more mainstream. “True as Steel” is sort of a mixture of older guard aggressive Heavy Metal and the Glam style that was really growing in prominence at this point in the 80s. You can hear bits and pieces of Dokken, Quiet Riot, and even a little bit of early Riot (pre-Thundersteel). There is a larger emphasis on sing along choruses, much as is the case on the next release “Triumph and Agony”. It still, however, holds onto a good deal of the Speed Metal elements that were heard on “Burning the Witches” and the very heavy “Hellbound”. The resulting mix of styles is a very interesting listen.
This album has their first success outside of Europe, the single "Fight for Rock" charted on Billboard, and the music video for this song was aired on MTV's Headbangers Ball.
