The eighth full-length album by legendary American Alternative/Funk Rock band.
"By The Way" was a departure from the band's previous styles, and is recognized for the melodic and subdued emotions given by the Chili Peppers. Guitarist John Frusciante is credited with writing most of the album's melodies, bass lines, and guitar progressions. "By The Way" contained very little of the signature Punk-Funk fusion the band had become known for playing. Luckily, with this more sophisticated sound, the Peppers have not sacrificed any of their trademark energy or passions for life, universal love, and (of course) lust. Although they recorded the spiky "Abbey Road" EP in 1988, this album actually sounds a lot closer to the Beatles' "Abbey Road", with a little of "Pet Sounds" and elements of "Phil Spector"'s lushest arrangements all distilled through the band's well-traveled Funk-Pop stylings. Harmony vocals and string arrangements have replaced some of the aggressive slap bass that the group was initially recognized for, but fans of both the gentle and the fierce Chili Peppers styles will embrace the title track and first single, "By the Way". In fact, this song on its own could almost be a brief history of everything the Red Hot Chili Peppers have recorded: fiery Hollywood Funk, gentle harmonies, a little bit of singing about girls, a little bit of hanging out in the streets in the summertime, some rapid-fire raps from Anthony Kiedis, some aggro basslines from Flea.
Overall, the album leans more toward the melodic end of their oeuvre, but they have grown into this kinder, gentler mode organically, progressively working toward this groove little by little, album by album. What once were snapshots of a spastic Punk-Funk lifestyle have grown into fully realized short stories of introspection and "Californication". Though the pace of the album falters at times, it is refreshing to see that as the four Chili Peppers continue to grow older and more sure of themselves, their composition and performing skills are maturing along with them!
The album was sold over 286000 copies in the first week, and peaked at number two on the Billboard 200. (Their next album would peak at number one). The album went on to sell over 8 million copies worldwide. In 2005, it was ranked number 375 in Rock Hard magazine's book of "The 500 Greatest Rock & Metal Albums of All Time".

Remastered re-release of the debut full-length studio album by legendary American Alternative/Funk/Rap Rock band.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers' debut album sketched out their Funk Metal hybrid quite effectively, especially on the warped deep groove of "True Men Don't Kill Coyotes". Even though their fusion of heavy guitars and slapping bass was audacious, their first effort didn't quite gel into a cohesive album.
"The Red Hot Chili Peppers" was released with the band disappointed in the production. It failed to chart on the Billboard 200, reaching #201 (meaning it "bubbled under" the main album chart for 8 weeks in the autumn of 1984). The album received college airplay and MTV rotation, and built the band's fan base. The reviews that were published of the album were mixed, with the first issue of Spin magazine giving, according to Anthony Kiedis in his autobiography Scar Tissue, a positive review.
This is the only album to feature Jack Sherman on guitar who was fired by the band at the end of the tour in support of the album and replaced by founding member, Hillel Slovak.
As of 2007, it had sold about 300,000 copies worldwide. Kiedis and Flea have mentioned over the years that they prefer the demo versions of most of these songs which were recorded with the original lineup featuring Hillel Slovak and Jack Irons. However, the band acknowledged in various books that Jack Sherman's contributions to the band, particularly his knowledge of Funk music and music theory, were things that helped the band's development, which they hadn't had with Hillel.

Many figured that the Red Hot Chili Peppers' days as undisputed Alternative kings were numbered after their lackluster 1995 release "One Hot Minute", but like the great phoenix rising from the ashes, this legendary and influential outfit returned back to greatness with 1999's "Californication". The record marked a significant change in style for the band. Also "Californication" marked the return of John Frusciante, who left the Peppers in 1992 and disappeared into a haze of hard drugs before cleaning up and returning to the fold in 1998, to replace Dave Navarro as the band's guitarist. Frusciante was a main reason for such past band classics as 1989's "Mother's Milk" and 1991's "Blood Sugar Sex Magik", and proves once and for all to be the quintessential RHCP guitarist. Frusciante's return was credited with changing the band's sound altogether, producing a notable shift in style from the music recorded with Navarro. Anthony Kiedis' vocals have improved dramatically as well, while the rhythm section of bassist Flea and drummer Chad Smith remains one of rock's best.
The album's subject material incorporated various sexual innuendos commonly associated with the band, but also contained more varied themes than previous outings, including lust, death, contemplations of suicide, California, drugs, globalization, and travel.
"Californication" is the Chili Peppers' most commercially successful studio release, with over 15000000 copies sold worldwide, and more than 5000000 in the United States alone. As of 2002, the album had sold over 4000000 copies in Europe. The record produced several hits for the band, including "Otherside", "Californication" and the Grammy Award-winning "Scar Tissue". Produced by Rick Rubin, "I'm With You" was the band's first album to feature guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, following the departure of John Frusciante in 2009. It is also the final collaboration between Red Hot Chili Peppers and producer Rubin, whose relationship began with their fifth studio album "Blood Sugar Sex Magik" (1991).
"I'm with You" was claimed to be the first album specially mastered to optimize digital sound quality for iTunes Store customers, who purchase the album through iTunes. The album was mastered using high-resolution sourced audio. Despite this, the mastering has been deemed extremely loud and over-compressed and therefore distorted, continuing the trend since "One Hot Minute".
The album received mostly favorable reviews, with many praising newcomer Josh Klinghoffer for breathing new life into the veteran band. It featured four singles, including alternative number-one hit, "The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie", "Monarchy of Roses", "Look Around" and "Brendan's Death Song". "Did I Let You Know" was released exclusively in Brazil thanks to response from a poll voted on by the fans, though it was not considered a proper single.
In the United States, "I'm With You" debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 with 229,000 copies sold in its first week. The album entered the UK Albums Chart at number one on the strength of 71,000 units, becoming the band's fourth number one effort in the United Kingdom. With a tally of 28,000, the record opened on the Canadian Albums Chart at number two.
In total, the album made its debut at number one in 18 countries. 
A Rolling Stone Reader's Poll named "I'm With You" the 8th best album of 2011, and the album was also nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Rock Album.

The fourth full-length studio album by legendary American Alternative/Funk/Rap Rock band.
"Mother's Milk" was the first step for the band in achieving international success and turned the tide and transformed the band from Underground Funk-Rocking Rappers to mainstream bad boys with seemingly very little effort.
After the death of founding guitarist Hillel Slovak and the subsequent departure of drummer Jack Irons, vocalist Anthony Kiedis and bassist Flea regrouped with the addition of guitarist John Frusciante and drummer Chad Smith. Frusciante's influence altered the band's sound by placing more emphasis on melody than rhythm, which had dominated the band's previous material. Returning producer Michael Beinhorn favoured Heavy Metal guitar riffs as well as overdubbing. Frusciante perceived Beinhorn's taste as excessive, and as a result, the two constantly fought over the album's guitar sound.
"Mother's Milk" was a greater commercial success than the band's first three albums, peaking at number 52 on the US Billboard 200, and number 32 on the U.S. Cash Box album charts. The record failed to chart in the United Kingdom and Europe, but climbed to number 33 in Australia. The album was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America in late March 1990 (it is now certified Platinum) and was the first Red Hot Chili Peppers' album to ship in excess of 500 000 units. In 2005, Mother's Milk was ranked number 359 in Rock Hard magazine's book "The 500 Greatest Rock & Metal Albums of All Time".
In 2003, the album was re-released through EMI; all tracks were completely remastered, and an additional six songs were included, as well as handwritten liner notes from Flea.

The seventh full-length studio album by legendary American Alternative/Funk Rock band.
Many figured that the Red Hot Chili Peppers' days as undisputed Alternative kings were numbered after their lackluster 1995 release "One Hot Minute", but like the great phoenix rising from the ashes, this legendary and influential outfit returned back to greatness with 1999's "Californication". The record marked a significant change in style for the band. Also "Californication" marked the return of John Frusciante, who left the Peppers in 1992 and disappeared into a haze of hard drugs before cleaning up and returning to the fold in 1998, to replace Dave Navarro as the band's guitarist. Frusciante was a main reason for such past band classics as 1989's "Mother's Milk" and 1991's "Blood Sugar Sex Magik", and proves once and for all to be the quintessential RHCP guitarist. Frusciante's return was credited with changing the band's sound altogether, producing a notable shift in style from the music recorded with Navarro. Anthony Kiedis' vocals have improved dramatically as well, while the rhythm section of bassist Flea and drummer Chad Smith remains one of rock's best.
The album's subject material incorporated various sexual innuendos commonly associated with the band, but also contained more varied themes than previous outings, including lust, death, contemplations of suicide, California, drugs, globalization, and travel.
"Californication" is the Chili Peppers' most commercially successful studio release, with over 15000000 copies sold worldwide, and more than 5000000 in the United States alone. As of 2002, the album had sold over 4000000 copies in Europe. The record produced several hits for the band, including "Otherside", "Californication" and the Grammy Award-winning "Scar Tissue". "Californication" peaked at number three on the U.S. Billboard 200.

"Freaky Styley" marks founding guitarist Hillel Slovak's studio album debut, following his return to the band earlier in the year. The album is the last to feature drummer Cliff Martinez.
The music on the record draws influence from Funk, Punk Rock, and Psychedelic Rock, while the lyrical content was inspired by the band members' lives in Hollywood.
"Jungle Man" and "Hollywood (Africa)" were released as promotional Singles, while "Catholic School Girls Rule" and "Jungle Man" had music videos made for them.
Critics viewed the album as an improvement upon the band's debut album, praising "Freaky Styley"'s musical experimentation and production. However, it did not achieve mainstream success and failed to enter the Billboard 200. The band embarked on the Infinity Tour to promote the album.

The eighth full-length studio album by legendary American Alternative/Funk Rock band.
"By The Way" was a departure from the band's previous styles, and is recognized for the melodic and subdued emotions given by the Chili Peppers. Guitarist John Frusciante is credited with writing most of the album's melodies, bass lines, and guitar progressions. "By The Way" contained very little of the signature Punk-Funk fusion the band had become known for playing. Luckily, with this more sophisticated sound, the Peppers have not sacrificed any of their trademark energy or passions for life, universal love, and (of course) lust. Although they recorded the spiky "Abbey Road" EP in 1988, this album actually sounds a lot closer to the Beatles' "Abbey Road", with a little of "Pet Sounds" and elements of "Phil Spector"'s the lushest arrangements all distilled through the band's well-trained Funk-Pop styling. Harmony vocals and string arrangements have replaced some aggressive slap bass that the group was initially recognized for, but fans of both the gentle and the fierce Chili Peppers styles will embrace the title track and first single, "By the Way". In fact, this song on its own could almost be a brief history of everything the Red Hot Chili Peppers have recorded: fiery Hollywood Funk, gentle harmonies, a bit of singing about girls, a bit of hanging out in the streets in the summer, some rapid-fire raps from Anthony Kiedis, some aggressive basslines from Flea.
Overall, the album leans more toward the melodic end of their oeuvre, but they have grown into this kinder, gentler mode organically, progressively working toward this groove little by little, album by album. What once were snapshots of a spastic Punk-Funk lifestyle have grown into fully realized short stories of introspection and "Californication". Though the pace of the album falters at times, it is refreshing to see that as the four Chili Peppers continue to grow older and more sure of themselves, their composition and performing skills are maturing along with them!
The album was sold over 286000 copies in the first week, and peaked at number two on the Billboard 200. (Their next album would peak at number one). The album went on to sell over 8 million copies worldwide. In 2005, it was ranked number 375 in Rock Hard magazine's book of "The 500 Greatest Rock & Metal Albums of All Time".

The thirteenth full-length studio album by legendary American Alternative/Funk Rock band.
It was quiet around the band for a long time. The Red Hot Chili Peppers took more than six years to release new music. In April 2022, the time had finally come and their 12th studio album, "Unlimited Love", was released and made the hearts of die-hard Peppers fans beat faster. "Return Of The Dream Canteen" was recorded during the same sessions as "Unlimited Love", released only 5 months earlier. The sessions marked the return of guitarist John Frusciante after a ten-year absence, and resulted in almost 50 songs being recorded with producer Rick Rubin and recording engineer Ryan Hewitt. The band initially intended for 40 of the tracks to be released as one album, spread over seven physical discs. The band's label, Warner Records, resisted this release strategy, with a "compromise" being reached where the band split thirty-four songs across two separate studio albums. The band sequenced both, "Unlimited Love" and "Return Of The Dream Canteen", to become distinct listening experiences from one another.
The album's title, "Return Of The Dream Canteen", represents "a well of creative prosperity" to vocalist Anthony Kiedis, who noted that the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic resulted in the band having a significant amount of time to write and record together.
The album made its debut at number-one in six countries. It reached number three in the band's home country of the United States on the Billboard 200 chart and reached number-one on the Top Albums Chart giving the band their second number-one album in 2022 and making them the first Rock band with two number-one albums in the same year in 17 years since System Of A Down in 2005 accomplished this. It was ranked as the 5th best guitar album of 2022 by Guitar World readers.
