Formed with the ambitious goal of becoming ‘the most brutal and blasphemous Metal act ever’, Marduk have sweat for over two decades to bring blood, darkness and an unrelentingly Extreme brand of Metal to the world, rightfully earning a place as one of Sweden’s most famous (or perhaps more accurately, infamous) Black Metal bands in the process. Unleashed at the very birth of the nineties, the band has continued to shed its skin, serpentine-like from album to album, each time revealing new layers, both subtle and stark, that have kept them at the forefront of the genre.
The track listing of the "World Funeral" is organized as to create a dynamic change of paces and atmospheres, the tracks generally alternating between a fast, slow, fast, etc. pattern. Balancing fast tracks with mid-paced tracks, it was a disappointment for fans expecting another head-to-toe fast album a la "Panzer Division Marduk". Many fans suggested the band was going for a more commercial "mainstream" approach, while others complimented their attempt to broaden their sound.
"World Funeral" is a very good Marduk album. It’s certainly not the very best due to one or two redundant songs, losing out to quite a few of the band's other albums, but is mostly an excellent representation of the band’s overall sound and definitely a worthy piece of work. It’s a good way for Legion to end his illustrious association with the band, being one of the highlights of his career, even though the entire band has something great to offer here.

Formed in 1990 and celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2020, Marduk are not only one of the most long-running and respected Black Metal acts out there, but also one of the most productive. Master is the most well-known project of bassist, vocalist, and songwriter Paul Speckmann. The first re-release of the fifth full-length studio album by legendary American/Czech Death Metal band.
Paul Speckmann played a key role in the Death Metal formative years, with bands like Terrorizer and Entombed acknowledging him and Master as a major influence. And both Master’s first effort and the one and only Deathstrike album could be considered classics even today, thanks to their intensity and to a simple but effective songwriting style.
Master have never played Death Metal in the pure sense of the term, rather a form of down tuned heavy Thrash, and this style is to be found again here. “Let’s Start A War” has turned out to be a solid and good-class disc containing guitar-heavy Death Metal that has a little more to offer besides aggressiveness. If you can’t imagine what that is, Master can best be described as a mixture between Crowbar and Bold Thrower. “Dictators” rekindle with the glorious Deathstrike days, while “Cast One Vote”, “American Freedom” and especially “Disturbed” clearly sound like classic Master tracks. Produced by Mustaine and Chris Rakestraw, it was released on frontman and guitarist Dave Mustaine's Tradecraft label via Universal Music Group. Prior to “Dystopia”'s recording, longtime drummer Shawn Drover and guitarist Chris Broderick announced their departure from the band.
Musically, "Dystopia" is more energetic and focused than anything Megadeth have released in quite a while. Following the lukewarm response to the band's previous album, 2013's “Super Collider”, “Dystopia” received largely favorable reaction from critics, being considered a return to form for the band. The album debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 chart, making “Dystopia” the band's second highest charting album in the U.S. after “Countdown To Extinction”, which peaked at number two in 1992. Additionally, the title track earned the band its first Grammy win (for Best Metal Performance) at the 59th Grammy Awards after eleven unsuccessful nominations. ...During the beginning of 1985, the band was given $8000 by Combat Records to record and produce their debut album, but this proved to not be enough, so the band was given a further $4000. Instead, a majority of the budget was spent on drugs, alcohol and food, so thus the band was forced to fire their original producer and produce it themselves...
...Despite the resulting poor production, the album was a well-received effort, and received positive reviews from most music critics. "Killing Is My Business ...And Business Is Good!" blends elements of Thrash and Speed Metal, and explores themes of death, violence and social commentary. The album featured track "Mechanix", a song Dave Mustaine originally wrote for Metallica (renamed by Metallica to "The Four Horsemen" in “Kill 'Em All” album, with changed lyrics, a bridge section and a new guitar solo added).
Undoubtedly, "Killing Is My Business ...And Business Is Good!" is Megadeth's rawest-sounding, most intense, fastest, angriest, and overall Thrashiest album they've ever released!!

Arguably Megadeth's strongest effort and a classic of early Thrash, "Peace Sells..." combines a Punkish political awareness with a dark, threatening, typically Heavy Metal world-view, preoccupied with evil, the occult, and the like. The anthemic title track and "Wake Up Dead" are the two major standouts, and there is also a cover of Willie Dixon's "I Ain't Superstitious", which takes on an air of supernaturally induced paranoia in the album's context. The lines between hell and earth are blurred throughout the album, and the crashing, complex music backs up Dave Mustaine's apocalyptic vision of life as damnation - his limited vocal style is used to great effect, growling and snarling in a barely intelligible fashion under all the complicated guitar work.
This was the last Megadeth album to feature drummer Gar Samuelson and guitarist Chris Poland, who were fired shortly after the album was released.
"Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?" is highly regarded as a Thrash Metal classic and as an album that gave prominence to Extreme Metal. It has been featured in several publications' best album lists, including Robert Dimery's "1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die" and Martin Popoff's "Top 500 Heavy Metal Albums of All Time".

The song has often been thought to promote suicide, what is incorrectly, according to Mustaine: "This is a song about how many times I tried to kill myself and just couldn't get the fucking job done. This is "Skin O'My Teeth"! That's about people who want to end it and just can't get it together. You know, they cut their wrist; it's just not deep enough. Or they decide to get hit by a car and it just breaks their leg or something. This song in no way condones suicide. Life sucks, that's why people get fat and lazy; this is "Skin O' My Teeth".
The release also includes the previously unavailable tracks "Holy Wars (General Schwarzkopf Mix)" and a live version of "High Speed Dirt".

The thirteenth full-length studio album by legendary American Thrash Metal band.
Darker, heavier, and more immediate than 2009's "Endgame", Dave Mustaine's snarling vocals ride higher in the mix this time around, but fans need not fear, as his fleet fingers are still possessed with the power to conjure the dead!
It is the first Megadeth studio album since “The World Needs a Hero” (2001) on which bass guitarist and founding member Dave Ellefson performs. This is the third and final album in the band's contract with Roadrunner Records. Album features a combination of newly composed tracks, along with older cuts written years ago, but never put to tape. Three tracks of the album are re-recordings of songs that were written around 1991 and have already been released on other Megadeth albums. A demo version of "New World Order" was included on the 2004 remastered edition of "Youthanasia". "Black Swan" was originally written for the "Youthanasia" recording sessions. It was released as a bonus track on the remastered deluxe version of "Youthanasia" and "United Abominations". "Millennium of the Blind" was also released as a bonus track on the 2004 remastered version of "Youthanasia".
The lead single from “Thirteen” was the Al Capone-inspired "Public Enemy No. 1". This was followed by "Whose Life (Is It Anyways?)" about a month later. A third song from the album, "Sudden Death", was released as a single prior to the announcement of “Thirteen” to promote "Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock". Both "Sudden Death" and "Public Enemy No. 1" received Grammy nominations, as did "Whose Life (Is It Anyways?)". "Whose Life" and "Public Enemy No. 1" were nominated for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance at the 55th and 54th Grammy Awards respectively, and "Sudden Death" was nominated for Best Metal Performance at the 53rd Grammy Awards.
“Thirteen” debuted at number 11 on the Billboard 200 chart and has sold about 120 000 copies in the United States as of December 2012. The album has received mostly positive reviews from critics and has a Metacritic rating of 71/100.

The sixteenth full-length studio album by legendary American Thrash Metal band.
Released on frontman Dave Mustaine's Tradecraft label via Universal, it is the first Megadeth album to feature drummer Dirk Verbeuren, their last album with guitarist Kiko Loureiro, and their first studio album in six years since "Dystopia" (2016), marking the longest gap between two studio albums in the band's career.
Work on The "Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!" began in 2019, but faced a number of delays due to Mustaine being diagnosed with throat cancer the same year, along with the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. In 2021, long-time bassist David Ellefson was dismissed from Megadeth following allegations of sexual misconduct. His bass parts were removed from the album and were re-recorded by Testament bassist Steve Di Giorgio, while former bassist James LoMenzo rejoined the band following the album's completion. The album was produced by Mustaine and Chris Rakestraw.
As of December 2022, six Singles have been released from the album. The first, "We'll Be Back", was released via streaming services on June 23, with "Night Stalkers" following on July 22. The third Single to be released was "Soldier On!" on August 12. The title track was released as a Single on September 2, the same day as the album.
"Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!" received generally positive reviews, and debuted at No. 3 on the US Billboard 200 with 48 000 units and is Megadeth's highest-charting album around the rest of the world, reaching No. 1 in Finland, No. 2 in Australia, Poland, Switzerland and Scotland, and No. 3 in the UK, among others. The lead single "We'll Be Back" was nominated for Best Metal Performance at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards.

The second Single from the fifteenth full-length studio album by legendary American Thrash Metal band.
Following a heavy, punchy beast of a lead Single "Fatal Illusion", Mustaine and company have upped the ante even further with "The Threat Is Real", while also providing a rock-solid reminder of where this band came from, as well as a big part of where the Bay Area sound itself derived its unique character.
The structure of this single's A-side is fairly similar to its immediate predecessor, featuring introduction material and cycling through a series of twists and turns in a manner fairly reminiscent of the elaborate approach of "Rust In Peace". But here a long, gradual move from a marching stomp feel at the beginning is traded out for an atmospheric middle eastern inspired prelude that is hauntingly beautiful despite the ominous picture that it paints, which is immediately followed by a more agitated riff set that has all the menacing clatter of an AK-47, but still with a general feeling of buildup. The riff set is quite busy, the mixture of the whole resounds in a very heavy-handed way comparable to the percussive character of a modern groove outfit, and the lead guitar exchange between Dave and Angra's own Kiko Loureiro manages to recapture that primitive shredding vs. Progressive noodling dichotomy that Mustaine originally shared with Marty Friedman.
Of equal importance to the power of this short studio outing is the B-side, a cover of Fear's classic "Foreign Policy", highlighting Hardcore Punk's highly synergistic relationship with Thrash Metal in a manner quite similar to when Megadeth covered "Anarchy In The UK" back in the day. In terms of execution this song is more of a faithful reproduction with a few obligatory present day exaggerations, particularly a more wailing set of lead guitar noise during the brief instrumental breaks, a more gravely and nasty vocal display out of Mustaine, and an even heavier overall sound that is actually more aggressive sounding than anything Megadeth has pulled off in their more than 30 years of existence.
Released on November 25, 2015 on streaming services, and on November 27, 2015 on vinyl, "The Threat Is Real" is the second most performed song from the album, being played nearly 230 times as of September 2022. The song debuted live in Denver, Colorado, on February 23, 2016. A live performance filmed at Hellfest 2016 was featured on the DVD of the Japanese Deluxe Edition of "Dystopia".
The song was ranked the third greatest from the album by Return Of Rock.
