The fifth full-length studio album by legendary Swedish Black Metal band.
"Nightwing" did not offer something completely new, but its songs kept firing full blast and they did not lack of variety. Nobody could blame Marduk for delivering just more of the same.
It was recorded and mixed at The Abyss between October and November 1997.
The theme of the album was "Blood", as the band's following studio albums "Panzer Division Marduk" would be "War", and "La Grande Danse Macabre" would be "Death", forming a trilogy of "Blood, War and Death" - Marduk's vision of what Black Metal is.

Re-release of the first demo by legendary Swedish Blackened Death Metal band.
It was recorded and mixed at Gorysound Studios, and self-released by the band on pro-printed cassette in June 1991. On April 21, 1995, Osmose Productions officially released it on CD and 7" vinyl for the first time. Following its CD release, "Fuck Me Jesus" was banned in seven countries, due to its explicit cover art.
"Fuck Me Jesus" is a very Death Metal-sounding recording with a heavy and fat sound. The song structures are basically Death Metal as well, combining heavy riffs with hammering two-beats. What makes a difference are some occasional Grind parts, melodic guitars, and of course the hellish vocals of Andreas. Nastier and uglier than even most Death Metal at the time, "Fuck Me Jesus" firmly established Marduk's brand of unholiness with a vengeance. 
"Departure from the Mortals", "The Black…" and "Within the Abyss" were re-recorded for the band's 1992 debut full-length, "Dark Endless".
With its raspy scathing vocals, drums like thundering death and a guitar sound that vomits blackness, "Fuck Me Jesus" possesses a sound that has rarely been rivalled since. Not only is this a must-have for all Marduk fans, but true maniacs of the Underground Black/Death scene should revisit this classic!

The second re-release of the eleventh full-length studio album by legendary Swedish Black Metal band.
The first Marduk album to feature drummer Lars Broddesson.
Formed in 1990 and celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2020, Marduk are not only one of the most long-running and respected Black Metal acts out there, but also one of the most productive. Even fourteen albums into their storied career, the quartet has never ever delivered a weak album and never wavered from their path of utter blasphemy and misanthropic contempt. It's not by chance, or proper marketing or timing, that Marduk is considered to be one of the most influential bands that helped to shape this unholy collection of acoustic stimulations we call Black Metal.  So, it's only natural to expect at least the best when the legendary Swedes strike back with their 11th release.
Mortuus is giving his best, his vocals come straight from the pits of Hell and even in the slower, Doom-like songs he manages to sound eerie while Morgan compliments the whole picture with his thunderous riffs.
Thunderous, brutal Black Metal balancing between horror and insanity, this album is a good start for a rotten journey to Hell and back!

Remastered re-release of the third full-length studio album by legendary Swedish Black Metal band.
The last Marduk album to feature Joakim Göthberg on vocals and Dan Swanö as mixer, "Opus Nocturne" also was the first album to showcase Marduk's signature hyper-speed blast beat tempo; however it still contained much of the melody from "Those Of The Unlight", while retaining this break-neck speed, instead of sheer brutality on albums like "Heaven Shall Burn… When We Are Gathered" and "Nightwing".
On "Opus Nocturne" a lot of effort has been made to make the material sound different. The sound, the length of most of the tracks (often exceeding 5 minutes), Joakim's vocals (less manic) and the proportions of brutality and climate (with a slight predominance of the latter) are different here. All these "novelties", however, blend well with the music and show another, slightly different face of the band. And most importantly, the "religious" Marduk was much better than the "war" one! The longer tracks, in particular, are interesting here, the most of which, were on the album, for example "The Sun Has Failed", "From Subterranean Throne Profund" or "Sulfur Souls". 
The sound, again made by Dan Swanö, is also great - raw and bitter, and at the same time clearly legible and without Black Metal "buzzing".
It all adds up to a great long play for Marduk, actually one of their best alongside the previous two. From the climate to the brutality, everything just on "Opus Nocturne" is correct! There is hardly any better compensation in this style.
"Materialized in Stone" was originally the title for the track "From the Dark Past" that appears on Mayhem's "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas". The title was changed by Per Yngve Ohlin before his death. Marduk later adopted the title for the song on this album. They had previously also used a song title by Ohlin on their album "Those Of The Unlight". This is considered a vague tribute to Per and his works.
In 2004, the album was remastered by the band's former member Devo Andersson and re-released by Regain Records. 
"Opus Nocturne" is another mandatory listen for any beginner getting into Extreme Black Metal. You won’t be disappointed with this fantastic record!
