After the departure of founding member and frontman Fenris in autumn 2012, Ingrimm finally released new album, "Henkt Him!". Now the new vocalist René Brand open fire at the microphone recording to prove himself. Their new album has a rather heavy sound somewhere between Industrial Metal and a few Thrash Metal parts. Now they put more Metal but less Folk influences in their sound. There are a few bagpipes, hurdy gurdies and violins in the songs. Sometimes, it rather feels as if the Folk instruments were alibis to get the attention of the Medieval Rock scene for a Neue Deutsche Härte band. Ingrimm somewhat sounds like a mixture of Grantig, Saltatio Mortis and Stahlmann.
Even after some personnel turbulence, Ingrimm show clear in which direction they steer their ship. The instruments are played first class and testify to a masterly production. The songs are full of Metal influences with interesting rhythms, excellent drums and a perfect violin.
Tougher than the rest of the Medieval Rock community, Ingrimm establish the genre midfield and are a good alternative to the standards! Not more but also not less!!

The third full-length album by the British Speed/Heavy/Power Metal band.
English band Intense has been plugging away at their craft for 20 years. While 20 years only puts them back to the early Nineties, one listen to this disc find that their roots go deeper into the earlier. "The Shape Of Rage" is blistering platter of old school Metal mixing Heavy, Speed and Power Metal in a melodic wrapper, pushed by a driving rhythm section and twin guitar attack.
From the gate, Intense offering a songs that clip along at fast and heavy pace. "Anubis", "The Elemental" and "One Man's Word" gallop along, leaving little time for catching your breath. Lightning guitar solos pepper each song. Once you get to "For the Fallen", Intense, in terms of speed, lightens up quite a bit. It's a heavy, steady piece nuanced by vocals over light guitar and drums, and a smattering of acoustic guitar. But, don't dismay it cranks up with some big riffage and more guitar solos for an epic feel.
"Save Me from Myself", "Lie" and the title cut return to racing speed, typical of the album. But they also express how easily Intense can deliver bombastic riffage in a truly melodic arrangement. While the speed side of the band is quite evident and exciting, they're even better when they tone things down or simply merge them with more steady Metal as on Maidenesque sounding song, "Haunted" (note, the bass segment just before four minutes also). "Skull of Sidon II" delivers a similar arrangement, sublime and steady at first, but then breaks out with speed midway. The result is a song with an epic feel.
For pure and classic Heavy Metal, with equal parts Speed, Power and melodic Metal, Intense's "The Shape Of Rage" delivers the goods. Fans of 'True' Metal should buy this straight away!! Up the Irons!!!

Influences come from classic Bay Area bands of the 80's like Exodus and early Metallica to the giants of Euro Thrash like Kreator just to mention a few names but all these are fused into Invection's music along with their own personal style resulting in powerful, passionate and aggressive songs.
Andrew Kubiak's vocals are almost identical to Tom Arraya's style back in the days of “Divine Intervention” and “Undisputed Attitude”.
Invection's music is fast and heavy but at the same time has that vibe and feel albums like “Hell Awaits”, “Reign In Blood” and at times they bring to mind the golden days of Nuclear Assault's “Handle With Care” and “Game Over”. John Haag's drumming is absolutely stunning he has the speed, the groove and his playing can elevate even the weaker moments of the album into a headbanging Thrash fest.
Andrew Kubiak and Drew Gage's guitar playing is filled with great riffs but there aren't afraid in casting aside their influences and get a bit more technical with their leads. Listener doesn't have to face a constant hammering of fast riffs and tons of double bass for the sake of speed only. Invection know when to slow down and mix various mid tempo parts in their songs adding more variety without losing character.
Production is very fitting keeping the balances between modern Thrash of today and old school 80's sound. Drums sound natural moving away from the cursed digital triggered trend that dominated metal productions from mid 90's to 00's.
If you consider a fan of 80's Slayer style and love to wreck your neck with bands like Exodus, Nuclear Assault, Kreator, early Metallica and miss the Thrash days of Megadeth, give Invection a chance and you won't be disappointed!!

Not all albums that failed commercially and were released in the 90s were masterpieces or lost gems. Neither, all bands were obscure legends that deserved more than to become cult heroes. But damn, some names should become much bigger. They deserved it as their works have passed the ultimate test, the test of Time. And some albums are damn true jewels. Invocator’s “Excursion Demise” that now at last is available for the first time in more than 30 years, is one of them. Of course Invocator’s debut wasn’t a commercial fail, as it had sold in its first year only around 10 000 copies still you can’t say it was a big hit or something. Originally printed in released in June 1991 via Black Mark Production and produced by Boss, Quorton’s father and the record label’s owner.
If you want to describe this album with one word, then “fast” is the one you are looking for. Yet this LP has more to offer than extreme velocity. Riffs upon riffs hit you like a blast with a plethora of drum patterns often off beat, that enrich their sound and keep the listeners attention and interest high, aggressive vocals that flirt with Death Metal growls blended with fast, furious and brilliant shredding solos that wisely avoid sounding repetitive. “Excursion Demise” is a mad as a hatter combination of high-speed Technical Thrash with a hint of Death Metal at its best. You can find similarities with Dark Angel, Sadus, early Kreator, even Atheist, late 80s early 90s Sepultura and early Pestilence. Some would dare to say that Invocator were something like more technical and closer to proto-Death version of Artillery.
There isn’t really a bad song on here, all the songs are top-notch on this one. This album is one of those overlooked trashing gems. And when it comes to speed, nobody can touch these guys. They pull off the speed and competence so well. If you like nicely done complex Thrash, or if you like plenty of Thrash with your Death, this album is a must for you. If you don’t have this album, get it right now!

Invocator are a good example of a band that was a little too late to really blow up some dust in their career. Four young boys from Esbjerg started the band in 1987 when Thrash Metal was really a great thing. Like most other ambitious bands in those days, Invocator recorded a bunch of demos and played as many shows as possible. Yet it took them four years to get a record deal with Black Mark Productions, which just started to become a real label and release more than just Bathory albums. But the musical landscape had changed a lot during those four years, and Thrash Metal was not much more than a side note. The Death Metal explosion had just started, and thus the technical Thrash Metal of Invocator seemed a little bit outdated. Yet, they released two albums on Black Mark and another one on Progress Records before they temporarily split up in 1995, just to reform five years later.
Invocator creates a Thrash masterpiece with this album, but beware, this is a different form of Thrash than you're used to, and may be too "Groovey" for some. Having said that, if you like Exhorder, Pantera, or Metallica, you'll probably find this album to be great. If you like Exhorder's "Slaughter In The Vatican", but can deal with a more streamlined and less-rude version, this will be up your alley. It's a total about face from their first album, but "Weave The Apocalypse" is something that is totally different and a true testament to Invocator's mastery of heavy riffing.
“Weave The Apocalypse” saw the light of day in 1993 and was maybe their best known, as it was graced by a classical piece of art from Dan Seagrave. Nearly 30 years after its release, “Weave The Apocalypse” for the first time officially available on vinyl.
