Re-release of the second full-length studio album by legendary American Thrash Metal band.
The band's previous release, debut album “Show No Mercy”, became Metal Blade Records' highest selling release. As a result, producer Brian Slagel desired to release a second Slayer album. To that end, Slagel financed a recording budget (“Show No Mercy” was paid for by band members) and recruited several experienced producers to help in the studio.
Lyrical themes on “Hell Awaits” are darker than on “Show No Mercy”. The intro of the first track "Hell Awaits" played backwards reveals the repeated phrase "join us".
Musically, the album features the band's most progressive and diverse work compared to their previous releases. Defined as “influential to future Extreme Metal acts”, the most popular songs from “Hell Awaits” were re-recorded by various underground Metal bands and have appeared on several tribute albums.

Remastered re-release of the first EP by legendary American Thrash Metal band.
The EP was released in 1984 through Metal Blade and Enigma Records. Slayer's debut album "Show No Mercy" became Metal Blade's highest selling, leading to producer Brian Slagel wanting to release an EP.
Although originally featuring three songs, the record evidences a marked evolution from the style of their previous album, "Show No Mercy", and is considered the first demonstration of the band's "classic" style displayed on later albums and is often described as a "stepping stone". Boasting the awesome "Chemical Warfare," a regular staple of Slayer's live shows, the "Haunting The Chapel" EP was a more crucial stepping stone in the legendary L.A. band's career development than many give it credit for.
Issued in between the band's very promising debut and the following year's more sonically ripened "Hell Awaits", "Haunting The Chapel" offers important clues about this transition period, which saw Slayer's Rock-based song structures give way to the non-linear, genre-defining style thereafter regarded as Thrash Metal's signature sound. Among the uniformly solid cuts here, the enduring fan favorite "Captor of Sin" is another highlight, making this a well-recommended release for committed Slayer fans.
The songs "Captor of Sin" and "Chemical Warfare" are regularly featured on the band's live set list. "Chemical Warfare" appears in "Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock".

Slayer's place in music history is secure as one of The Big Four (alongside Metallica, Megadeth and Anthrax): they helped define the Thrash Metal genre. With "Repentless", Kerry, Tom, Paul and Gary affirm that Slayer is unstoppable.
Produced by Terry Date (Pantera, Slipknot, Soundgarden), "Repentless" was written and recorded by guitarist Kerry King and singer/bassist Tom Araya at Henson Studios in Los Angeles, along with returning drummer Paul Bostaph (Hail!; ex- Testament) and guitarist Gary Holt (Exodus). Album includes "Piano Wire", an unfinished song from the "World Painted Blood" sessions written by Jeff Hanneman.
In 2013, the world mourned the loss of guitarist Jeff Hanneman who died from complications following a two-year illness. A co-founder of Slayer, losing Jeff was very difficult for the band. During Jeff’s illness, friend of the band, guitarist Holt stepped in to help out on tour with Jeff’s blessing and stayed on. Around that time, drummer Dave Lombardo exited the band for the third time and Paul Bostaph, (who played with the band from 1992-2001), returned to take over the throne. Slayer never skipped a beat and since Holt and Bostaph both played in Exodus, it was all-in-the-Thrash-family. 
"Repentless" is the band’s first new album in six years, continues the Slaytanic offensive with a twelve-song, blood-shaking sonic attack. It's dark, fast, aggressive and without mercy. It was also the most challenging record Slayer has ever had to make.

The fourth European remastered re-release of the fifth full-length studio album by the legendary American Thrash Metal band.
It was the first album of Slayer released on the new Rick Rubin's label Def American (because of disagreements with the producer of Def Jam owner Russell Symons). "Seasons In The Abyss" is the last Slayer’ album with Dave Lombardo before his return in 2002. 
After staking out new territory with the underrated "South Of Heaven", Slayer brought back some of the pounding speed of "Reign In Blood" for their third major-label album, "Seasons In The Abyss". Essentially, "Seasons" fuses its two predecessors, periodically kicking up the mid-tempo grooves of "South Of Heaven" with manic bursts of aggression. "War Ensemble" and the title track each represented opposite sides of the coin, and they both earned Slayer their heaviest MTV airplay to date.
In fact, "Seasons In The Abyss" is probably their most accessible album, displaying the full range of their abilities all in one place, with sharp, clean production. Since the band is refining rather than progressing or experimenting, "Seasons" doesn't have quite the freshness of its predecessors, but aside from that drawback, it's strong almost all the way from top to bottom (with perhaps one or two exceptions).
Lyrically, the band rarely turns to demonic visions of the afterlife anymore, preferring instead to find tangible horror in real life - war, murder, human weakness. There's even full-fledged social criticism, which should convince any doubters that Slayer aren't trying to promote the subjects they sing about. Like Metallica's "Master Of Puppets" or Megadeth's "Peace Sells... But Who's Buying!", "Seasons In The Abyss" paints Reagan-era America as a cesspool of corruption and cruelty, and the music is as devilishly effective as ever.

Slayer’s debut is still regarded as a milestone for a new way of doing Metal. This new way was a start of the real Thrash Metal. This album is, along with “Kill ‘Em All”, “Killing Is My Business… And My Business Is Good” and “Bonded By Blood”, an important sign of the new growing scene. Slayer, grown up with Venom and true Heavy Metal, created a piece of history, a must for every Metal kid. And the story begins right here… Four guys, that wanted to play fast and brutal, join together and, after few demos, they recorded the first album, “Show No Mercy” - ten tracks of pure Speed/Thrash Metal.
Brian Slagel signed the band to Metal Blade, after watching their performing of the song "Phantom of the Opera" by Iron Maiden. The band was forced to self-finance their debut album, combining the savings of vocalist Tom Araya, who was employed as a respiratory therapist, and money borrowed from guitarist Kerry King's father. Touring extensively promoting the album, the band brought close friends and family members along the trip, who helped backstage with lighting and sound.
The album was recorded & mixed in November 1983 at Track Record Studios and released a month later. It took only eight hours to record (!!!), to cut down studio costs, which explains the poor production quality. Although criticized for poor production quality, "Show No Mercy" became Metal Blade Records' highest selling release!

Released through American Recordings and Sony Music on November 3, 2009, the album was produced by Greg Fidelman and executive produced by Rick Rubin. It is the band's only album produced by Greg Fidelman. Furthermore, it is the band's first studio album to be played in E-flat tuning since “Divine Intervention”.

Slayer's first release featuring the original line-up since 1990s “Seasons In The Abyss”! They came through on all of their promises. It is like a mix of "Seasons In The Abyss" and "God Hates Us All", and the return of the drum master Dave Lombardo places the band back on the edge, pushing themselves and the genre to look back at where they've been and where they go from here! Kerry and Jeff shred all over this album; it's a riff lover’s dream!!! And Tom goes balls-to-the-wall when it comes time to let rip some vocals!!!! The result is a rushing linebacker assault of fast chord changes and slamming, skid-stop rhythms of drummer Dave Lombardo, who knows how to seat an off time phrase within a dead-mans-hand cadence, then top it off with a fill that crushes its own rhythmic expectation with a structure like the silent falling of buildings under a nuclear shockwave. From newer albums, Slayer keep the jaunty bounce and two-chord rhythm riffs, but into it, they adroitly mix their older lead guitar fills, chaotic solos and song structures that seem displaced by internal earthquakes.
Lyrics, particularly in the song "Jihad", describe the September 11 attacks from a terrorist perspective. A Mumbai based Christian group, the Catholic Secular Forum, was outraged by this and thus demanded a recall. As a result, all Indian stocks of the album were recalled and destroyed by EMI India. Depicting a mutilated Christ painted by long-time collaborator Larry Carroll, the album's graphic artwork courted controversy. An alternative cover was issued to conservative retailers who felt uncomfortable with the original. The band also put out a censored cover, which censored out the offensive artwork.
The album received generally favourable critical reviews, and it entered the Billboard 200 at number 5 - the band's highest U.S. chart position to date. “Christ Illusion” includes the Grammy Award-winning song "Eyes of the Insane". In its first week of release, the album sold 62,000 copies in the United States.

Second European re-release of the sixth full-length studio album by legendary American Thrash Metal band.
The band's first album with new drummer Paul Bostaph, replacing the original drummer Dave Lombardo. However, it was the first album with a new sound, which could be seen a departure from the canonical Slayer's Thrash Metal style. The new sound was characterized by a high volume, loss of the melodic line and the strong influence of Punk Rock.
The Rock & Roll landscape changed dramatically between "Seasons In The Abyss" in 1990 and "Divine Intervention" in 1994. With the rise of Alternative Rock, many Metal and Hard Rock bands that had been enormously successful at the dawn of the '90s were struggling by the middle of the decade. Instead of doing something calculated like emulating Nirvana or Pearl Jam, or for that matter, Nine Inch Nails or Ministry, Slayer wisely refused to sound like anyone but Slayer. Tom Araya and co. responded to the new environment simply by striving to be the heaviest Metal band they possibly could. Less accessible than "Seasons In The Abyss" but equally riveting, "Divine Intervention" marked drummer Paul Bostaph's studio debut with the band. Bostaph proved to be a positive, energizing influence on Slayer, which sounds better than ever on such dark triumphs as "Killing Fields", "Serenity in Murder" and "Circle of Beliefs".
Characteristically grim and morbid, Slayer focus on the violently repressive nature of governments and the lengths to which they will go to wield power. And true to form, Slayer's music is as disturbing as their lyrics. 
The charts were a record for the band at the time, album debuted at position 8 on the Billboard 200 in the first week, sales of 93000 copies, and by 2002 it sold over 400000 copies in the US. It peaked number eight on the Billboard 200 and charted at number 15 on UK Albums Chart, and later in the same year album was certified Gold in Canada and the United States. Although it is less accessible than its predecessor "Seasons In The Abyss", Rolling Stone considered it to be their most successful album as of 2001.
In 1998 the album was banned in Germany due to the lyrics of "SS-3", "Circle of Beliefs", "Serenity in Murder", "213" and "Mind Control".

The ninth full-length studio album by legendary American Thrash Metal band.
The last album with drummer Paul Bostaph, before it returns in 2013. Incredibly brutal, "God Hates Us All" is Slayer's most effective album since "Seasons in the Abyss" (1990), thanks in large part to Matt Hyde's raw production and a handful of killer songs. The previous few Slayer albums, "Divine Intervention" (1994), "Undisputed Attitude" (1996) and "Diabolus In Musica" (1998), were relatively disappointing, at least for anyone familiar with the band's defining triptych of "Reign In Blood" (1986), "South Of Heaven" (1988) and "Seasons In The Abyss" (1990). While "God Hates Us All" isn't on a par with those classics, without much argument one could call it a return to form for Slayer. A couple "War Ensemble"-style thrashers, "Disciple" and "New Faith", get the album off to vicious start; "Payback" concludes the album likewise. On the other hand, "Bloodline" is a slower-paced, evocative song in the style of "Reign in Blood" and "South of Heaven", including a melodic chorus. These are the highlights of "God Hates Us All", and while there are some passable songs sequenced throughout the 13-track album, it's solid and well-balanced overall. Especially since it arrived after a long absence, "God Hates Us All" should be a relief for long-time Slayer fans who were afraid the band had fallen off during the '90s, and it well may surprise newcomers unfamiliar with the band's prime recordings from the mid- to late '80s. The album was recorded with the old, traditional for Slayer hard sound.
The album was released on the day of the tragedy in the United States, September 11, 2001. Release date of the album was delayed because of problems with the cover, due to difficulties during the recording, and because of the change of producer. In its week of release, "God Hates Us All" debuted at number 28 on the Billboard 200 and sold 51000 copies. It entered the Canadian Albums Chart at number 9 and debuted at number 18 on the top Internet album chart. As of August 16, 2006 the album has sold 304000 copies in the United States. The band was first time nominated for a Grammy Award, for the song "Disciple", but the prize was awarded to the other band.
Dave Lombardo re-joined Slayer and attended music festivals worldwide to promote "God Hates Us All" and record drums on the 2006 album "Christ Illusion".

The band's previous release, debut album “Show No Mercy”, became Metal Blade Records' highest selling release. As a result, producer Brian Slagel desired to release a second Slayer album. To that end, Slagel financed a recording budget (“Show No Mercy” was paid for by band members) and recruited several experienced producers to help in the studio.
Lyrical themes on “Hell Awaits” are darker than on “Show No Mercy”. The intro of the first track "Hell Awaits" played backwards reveals the repeated phrase "join us".
Musically, the album features the band's most progressive and diverse work compared to their previous releases. Defined as “influential to future Extreme Metal acts”, the most popular songs from “Hell Awaits” were re-recorded by various underground Metal bands and have appeared on several tribute albums.

In 2013 the world mourned the loss of guitarist Jeff Hanneman who died from complications following a two-year illness. A co-founder of Slayer, losing Jeff was very difficult for the band. During Jeff’s illness, friend of the band, guitarist Holt stepped in to help out on tour with Jeff’s blessing and stayed on. Around that time, drummer Dave Lombardo exited the band for the third time and Paul Bostaph, (who played with the band from 1992-2001), returned to take over the throne. Slayer never skipped a beat and since Holt and Bostaph both played in Exodus, it was all-in-the-Thrash-family.

The fourth European re-release of the seventh full-length studio album by legendary American Thrash Metal band.
This album is a compilation of cover songs on various Punk Rock bands, plus three original songs. Jeff Hanneman has used two songs (in the style of Punk) which he wrote in 1984 and 1985 for a stillborn side project Pap Smear, while Kerry King and Tom Araya wrote the only one original track called "Gemini".
Given Slayer's Huntington Beach, CA, homeland, the Hardcore roots are plain enough. But HB is also a big Metal town, and these cats as youngsters were exposed to everything from Motörhead to Black Sabbath and the early L.A. Metal scene. True to their course, however, they've never sounded like anyone but themselves. Even on a collection of covers (with a pair of originals thrown in to boot), the Slayer imprint is unmistakable, and while taking a breather from fresh ideas on their own projects, this disc sounds like the band members were having a blast if not exactly breaking new ground.

The fourth European re-release of the fifth full-length studio album by the legendary American Thrash Metal band.
It was the first album of Slayer released on the new Rick Rubin's label Def American (because of disagreements with the producer of Def Jam owner Russell Symons). "Seasons In The Abyss" is the last Slayer’ album with Dave Lombardo before his return in 2002. 
After staking out new territory with the underrated "South Of Heaven", Slayer brought back some of the pounding speed of "Reign In Blood" for their third major-label album, "Seasons In The Abyss". Essentially, "Seasons" fuses its two predecessors, periodically kicking up the mid-tempo grooves of "South Of Heaven" with manic bursts of aggression. "War Ensemble" and the title track each represented opposite sides of the coin, and they both earned Slayer their heaviest MTV airplay to date.
In fact, "Seasons In The Abyss" is probably their most accessible album, displaying the full range of their abilities all in one place, with sharp, clean production. Since the band is refining rather than progressing or experimenting, "Seasons" doesn't have quite the freshness of its predecessors, but aside from that drawback, it's strong almost all the way from top to bottom (with perhaps one or two exceptions).
Lyrically, the band rarely turns to demonic visions of the afterlife anymore, preferring instead to find tangible horror in real life - war, murder, human weakness. There's even full-fledged social criticism, which should convince any doubters that Slayer aren't trying to promote the subjects they sing about. Like Metallica's "Master Of Puppets" or Megadeth's "Peace Sells... But Who's Buying!", "Seasons In The Abyss" paints Reagan-era America as a cesspool of corruption and cruelty, and the music is as devilishly effective as ever.
CD debuted at the 44th position on the Billboard 200 and number 18 on the UK Albums Chart. In 1992 was certified a Gold in both the United States and Canada. The title track and "War Ensemble" earned Slayer its heaviest airplay on MTV to date. "Seasons In The Abyss" certainly among the top of three albums of the band!

Remastered re-release of the first EP by legendary American Thrash Metal band.
The EP was released in 1984 through Metal Blade and Enigma Records. Slayer's debut album "Show No Mercy" became Metal Blade's highest selling, leading to producer Brian Slagel wanting to release an EP.
Although originally featuring three songs, the record evidences a marked evolution from the style of their previous album, "Show No Mercy", and is considered the first demonstration of the band's "classic" style displayed on later albums and is often described as a "stepping stone". Boasting the awesome "Chemical Warfare," a regular staple of Slayer's live shows, the "Haunting The Chapel" EP was a more crucial stepping stone in the legendary L.A. band's career development than much give it credit for.
Issued in between the band's very promising debut and the following year's more sonically ripened "Hell Awaits", "Haunting The Chapel" offers important clues about this transition period, which saw Slayer's Rock-based song structures give way to the non-linear, genre-defining style thereafter regarded as Thrash Metal's signature sound. Among the uniformly solid cuts here, the enduring fan favourite "Captor of Sin" is another highlight, making this a well-recommended release for committed Slayer fans.
The songs "Captor of Sin" and "Chemical Warfare" are regularly featured on the band's live set list. "Chemical Warfare" appears in "Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock".
"Haunting The Chapel" is definitely a highly recommended piece of work that is early Thrash Metal at its rawest and most aggressive form. A masterpiece!!
