Originally released on VHS in 1999, and surfacing on disc in 2002, this DVD is primarily a showcase for the band's first ever promo video for the song "From the Cradle to Enslave", taken from the EP of the same name.
The video was directed by Alex Chandon, who would go on to produce further promo clips and DVD documentaries for the band, as well as the full-length feature film "Cradle Of Fear".
The DVD contains two versions of the video: uncensored with graphic nudity and gore, and a supposedly MTV-friendly "clean" version. After every track one of the band members announces the next track, actually both versions of "From the Cradle to Enslave" have the same length - the difference comes from the announcements.
Also DVD features "Making-of" documentary and a short live show, recorded at the London Astoria on 5 June 1998.

For those who haven’t heard of Pain, but call themselves Tagtgren fans, you’re in for a nasty surprise. This project is in almost no way whatsoever like Hypocrisy, nor is it much like many of the stand-out Metal bands Peter has done production duties for, such as Dimmu Borgir, Dark Funeral, Amon Amarth and more.
Heavier than Rammstein and more accessible than Type O Negative, Pain manages to mix in Techno elements without losing the Metal sound.
The main feature of this DVD, the Metalmania Festival 2005 performance in Poland, is despairingly short. Spanning only eight tracks, you’d almost think that Pain played as the opening act at the concert. The saving grace of the DVD is that the main feature is not the only feature. In fact, there’s another entire concert to watch, more than half a dozen video clips, a very detailed interview with Peter Tagtgren, and more. Despite first appearances, "Live Is Overrated" actually offers quite a large amount of viewing – around two hours’ worth, as it happens!
A great plus for the DVD is that the two concerts have completely different set lists, which is excellent for fans who enjoy the band further than its hit singles, and allows more of its discography to be covered. The second concert, held in a TV studio in Krakow, even features a cover of the Beatles’ "Eleanor Rigby". Better than many cover songs that try to imitate the original, Pain makes the song completely their own, not changing their sound to better suit the song, and Tagtgren sings it in his usual voice rather than ruining the cover by attempting a sub-standard impersonation. The seven video clips of the band's better-known songs add even more play time to the DVD, and these are a wonderful bonus for fans who otherwise might have had to watch low-quality internet versions!
DVD also features a photo gallery.
A vast amount of content for a bands' first DVD means it won't become boring quite so quickly!!

"From The Cradle To The Stage" is a quite remarkable live album and DVD. Recorded at the Zeche in Bochum (Germany) on January 25, 2004, Rage performed a three-hour show, playing the most important tracks from every phase of the band's career.
It's loud, it's mean, and it’s twenty seven songs of Metal with a superb line-up. Guitarist Victor Smolski has a great rep in biz, while everybody should know of Mike Terrana by now, and what he can do with a drum-kit. His "Archary" solo is something out of the ordinary...
You can easily say that it's a best-of-live compilation as all the songs are included for once. A powerful executed performance by the entire band and one of the best live albums of the year!!

Once again, Peavy and Victor, joined this time by Andres Hilgers on the drums after the slightly achromous departure of Mike Terrana, have come up with another classic set of songs.
These guys just don’t put out bad albums. The last effort, “Speak Of The Dead”, saw them experiment slightly; one half of the album was accompanied by a full orchestra and the other half with a more complex and Progressive approach than usual, more “Welcome to the Other Side” than “Unity” or “Soundchaser”. The real standout feature of this album are choruses. Rage have always been known for catchy melodies and hooks, but this album takes this to another level, some might say too much so, but that’s one of the strongest aspects of "Carved In Stone" - the contrast between the very heavy and the much catchy.
In total, "Carved In Stone" is another brilliant album by the German veterans. If you like classic Metal with a Power/Thrash Metal feel to it, then give it a try - you won’t be disappointed in any way!
